NEO: From The Bottom Up (C-Verse)

Recommended Posts

Pity to lose Angel so fast but it did have an impact on the top end of the roster to shake things up a little, which is good.

I prefer the old font as it just looked that little bit different to other diaries.

And I liked the Svensson overview - it was interesting to see his Japanese history, especially as he's someone I used quite a bit in my 07 ROF diary.

End Of The Month: September 2011

End of the Month Notes

• World Importance: 35 of 38

• World Influence: 30 of 38

• Popularity: +1.7% (36.5%) GL, (5%) MA, (5%) TS

• Prestige: +1.1% (29.3%)

• Balance: +$17,007 ($104,505)

○ Worker Costs: $45,611

○ Sponsorship: $46,135

All it took was a B- card to FINALLY take 1st in the Great Lakes Regional Battle. Loving the added bonuses of the extra prestige and getting the correct amount of popularity. Even with the help, CWW opens and pushes me down in importance again. Even when I win, I lose.

On the bright side, we re-signed PRIMUS for $1000 and travelling (ouch), Danny Patterson for $350, and Rock Downpour for $600. We also were able to finally sign Stevie Grayson to a PPA contract. It was a bit steep, but worth it IMO ($1500 and travelling).

Dark Angel re-joined NOTBPW if you didn't already figure that out. It was a short run for the Angle, but I was able to improve the pop of my workers, improve the cards, and I was able to give him the title before he left so I guess it's ok.

Dark Angel wasn't the only one moving around. Teddy Powell and Singh left FCW, while Singh and Strong joined CZCW.

NEO Hallowed Dreams Preview

• After shocking the world by not only being the first person to become the NEO Generation champion not only once but twice (not to mention taking down a legend in The Dark Angel, Cliff Wilson, to do so), Tim Westybrook takes on FCW's Steve Gumble in his first title defense of his second reign.

• Over the past few weeks it seems that Teddy Powell has found a friend in NEO by the name of R.P. Superstar. Their partying ways are only shadowed by their skill in the ring, something that the current tag team champions, The Fallen, seem to have noticed as well. Last month, The Fallen issued the challenge to those "Party Starters" to a match at Hallowed Dreams and it has just been confirmed that R.P. and Teddy have accepted. While the title in not on the line, you have to think that both teams will be going out to effect whether or not they will meet again in the future.

• NEO has always been about gender equality and giving women in the wrestling biz all the tools they need to break the glass ceiling. At Hallowed Dreams, Ashley, Jaime Quine, Sara Marie York, and Tamara will be competing to see who is the best in what Jake Sawyer is call a "Four Corner Survival Showcase" match.

• Also on this jammed packed card is NEO's favorite "transitional champion," Nigel Svensson, taking on the ever unstable Whippy The Clown in our semi-main event, Stevie Grayson going on one one with the leader of the Peverell International, Bradford Peverell, and in our opener Masked Patriot faces off against former NEO Generation champion, Brendan Idol.

Quick Picks

NEO Generation: Steve Gumble vs. Tim Westybrook ©

Nigel Svensson vs. Whippy The Clown

Non-Title: Das Party Starters vs. The Fallen

Bradford Peverell vs. Stevie Grayson

Ashley vs. Jaime Quine vs. Sara Marie York vs. Tamara

Brendon Idol vs. Masked Patriot

This match brought the crowd's mood down. Danny Patterson is improving in Performance skills.

Nigel Svensson comes down to the ring. He takes a microphone and starts talking to the crowd, before eventually getting interupted by Commissioner Jake Sawyer. They have a big argument, going back and forth on the microphone, before agreeing to face each other later on in a singles match. - D+

Brendan Idol defeated Masked Patriot in 9:45 by pinfall with an Idolizer. - C

Notes: Brendan Idol seemed off his game tonight. Brendan Idol and Masked Patriot have great chemistry, and it showed in their performances.

After the match, Brendan Idol picks up the microphone and tells the crowd that he has accepted the challenge laid down by Nigel Svensson. - C

Backstage, Bradford Peverell, Ashley and Tamara cut a promo on Bradford's opponent for tonight, Stevie Grayson. Bradford says that Peverell Industries already picked up one win tonight and by the end of it they will have gone 2 for 2. - D-

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/RPW/resized/BradfordPeverell.jpghttp://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/RPW/resized/versus.jpghttp://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/RPW/resized/StevieGrayson.jpg

Stevie Grayson defeated Bradford Peverell in 11:55 by pinfall with a Shades Of Grayson. - D+

Notes: The announcing quality lifted the match. The colour commentary gave the match a boost.

Back in Jake Sawyer's office, Tim Westybrook is arguing with the Commish about him bringing Grayson into the NEO full time. Sawyer quickly shuts his newly crowned champion up by saying that this situation shouldn't be a problem as Tim already beat Grayson and more importantly that he should be worrying about his title match tonight against Steve Gumble. - C-

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/RPW/resized/NigelSvensson.jpghttp://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/RPW/resized/versus.jpghttp://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/RPW/resized/WhippyTheClown.jpg

Whippy The Clown defeated Nigel Svensson in 17:50 by pinfall with a Joke's On You following interference from Brendan Idol. - C-

Notes: Nigel Svensson and Whippy The Clown just don't click at all, and it showed in their performances. The colour commentary gave the match a boost.

In the locker room, Ultimate Phoenix confronts Whippy about Whippy's actions as of late. Whippy responds to his long time friend's question by blind siding Phoenix with Whippy's squirting flower. However, instead of water the liquid that comes out is a green mist that most fans would associate with a handful of Japanese wrestlers. As Phoenix tries to get the mist out of his eyes, Whippy laughs hysterically as he makes his escape. - C

Notes: Whippy The Clown is learning to show more charisma. Whippy The Clown is developing better performance skills.

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/RPW/resized/NEOGenerationNeo.jpg

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/RPW/resized/SteveGumble.jpghttp://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/RPW/resized/versus.jpghttp://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/RPW/resized/TimWestybrook.jpg

Tim Westybrook defeated Steve Gumble in 22:51 by pinfall with a TNT Whirlwind following botched interference by Commissioner Jake Sawyer. Tim Westybrook makes defence number 1 of his NEO Generation title. - B-

Notes: Tim Westybrook is improving in Technical skills.

Overall: C

Show Thoughts: The card was clearly brought down by the negative chemistry between Whippy and Nigel and I probably would have gotten a C+ out of the event if I switched the match with Idol/Patriot, but I think I just will be happy with the fact that I am even talking about this seeing as NEO has only been four years removed from E+. As an added bonus, after another B- main event, the NEO Generation title up to an A in prestige. Score one for Timmy.

In other news, Teddy Powell was unhappy losing (big surprise there) and Nigel gets the dreaded time to heal e-mail. That's never a good thing.

I find it best to let predictions run for as long as humanly possible between shows. Gives more people a chance to see it.

Haven't read much of your stuff before, but I like the font, I like the formatting, and Steve Gumble in a main event tickles me... in a very good way.

See my thing about getting predictions is that with the increased traffic on the forums, a thread can fall to page two in less than a day...and then there really is no chance of getting any more predictions.

This is my belief as well. And while it's not the end of the world for this diary, seeing my RPW diary get buried is frustrating as hell.

True. Thinking about it, I tend not to get predictions more than 24 hours after I post the card, and with a potential influx of new traffic... It's not a problem, but it's a thing I guess. I regularly find my thread on page 4-5 whenever I go to post a new episode every Monday.

Tag chemistry is the one note that doesn't always show up, and I've never quite been able to work out when it does (it seems to show up more when you officially team them up rather than pairing up two individuals, but I don't have any evidence to back that up). Have you only just made tham an official team?

Two ways to guarantee a tag team chemistry note (that I know of):

1) House show booking

2) Officially making the workers a tag team and booking them in a 2v2 match

Anything else and it's left up to chance (and chance freakin' SUCKS).

I dunno. I follow diaries by subscribing to them so no matter what page they're on, I see them as soon as I get the email telling me something new has been posted.

I will say that I kind of like the results you seem to get from Jaime. She's always been 'midcard for life' with me, unless I surgically attach her to a worker worth pushing (i.e. J.Ro, Wanda, Melody, Lauren, Christy, Fuyuko, Yu, Velvet, hell, even Wendy Anderson). I like how you've managed to maintain main event champions without them attracting too much attention from 'the written contract brigade'. Kinda surprised you still have UP though (whenever SoTBPW, MPWF, OLLIE, MHW hit National, him and Angel typically get snatched up whenever I've been paying attention). I also like how you're financially gearing up for the shock at Cult (so few actually do, sadly).

Nice run so far. Without spoiling anything, you DID bring in Lauren Easter, didn't you?

Thanks for confirming how to guarantee a tag team chem note. And thanks for posting in general. Didn't know you read this. Good to know. :D

And as strange as it seems, I think the reason I've been so lucky is the extremely good luck that the big companies have had in my game. TCW and SWF have never dropped to Cult yet, so they haven't had to mass release people and then mass sign workers as they go from Cult to National and vice versa. Though I am still surprised at my good fortune since the very beginning when like 3 of my bigger storyline ideas were messed up thanks to written/touring contracts.

And no Lauren Easter isn't with NEO yet. The problem with here is that she has C overness in the Midwest and the North West, but only an E+ in the Great Lakes. So she's a little pricey for her overness.

NEO Let It Rock Preview

• From losing against the World Tag Team champions to becoming the next NEO Generation champion? It's an unlikely scenario, but at Let It Rock Teddy Powell looks to make it happen as he challenges Tim Westybrook in the main event.

• Two feuds collide in our semi-main event as Nigel Svensson and Ultimate Pheonix team up to face the odd pairing of Brendon Idol and Whippy The Clown.

• After winning the Four Corner Survior Showcase match, Ashley of Bradford Peverell fame takes on the newest female of the NEO roster, Sara Marie York. Also on the card is Sensational Sing and Stevie Grayson locking up in the opener and the team of Grease Hogg and Danny Patterson taking on the High Flyers.

Quick Picks

NEO Generation: Teddy Powell vs. Tim Westybrook ©

Brendan Idol & Whippy The Clown vs. Nigel Svensson & Ultimate Pheonix

Grease Hogg & Danny Patterson vs. High Flyers

Sensational Singh vs. Stevie Grayson

However, the biggest talking point I think is the grades of the matches themselves. We had The American Flash being a part of a D rated tag team match, a C+ tag team match (granted it was between four of the top guys in the promotion), and a C+ main event in which the competitors didn't click in the ring. Whippy and Teddy Powell were unhappy losing, but otherwise I think the event went just about as well as it could have been.</p>

OCC: Hey look, it's a new avatar. :D

End Of The Month: October 2011

End of the Month Notes

• World Importance: 35 of 38

• World Influence: 30 of 38

• Popularity: +0.6% (37.1%) GL, (5%) MA, (5%) TS

• Prestige: +0.2% (29.5%)

• Balance: +$16,291 ($120,796)

○ Worker Costs: $48,297

○ Sponsorship: $46,049

---

With the semi-match event of one show and the main event of the other having negative chemistry, NEO's 2 Cs were just not enough this month as we finish last in the regional battle for the month of October. This is kind of embarrassing as this month hosts one of the big four events of the NEO schedule, Hallowed Dreams.

With the end of the month comes the induction of Dread into the Hall of Immortals. And all is right in the world.

We re-signed Pee-Wee Germaine for $600, Sienna DeVille for $100, Jake Sawyer for $450. So much win for so little money.

In other promotional news, Troy Tornado wins the TCW World Heavyweight from Sean McFly and

Nigel goes on another tour with GCG. I wonder if they are going to be giving Nigel another title? ;)

NEO The Everlasting Gaze

• The life of a NEO Generation is never easy. After dispatching Steve Gumble and Teddy Powell last month, Tim Westybrook takes on three of NEO's best in Ultimate Phoenix, one half of the NEO World Tag Team champions, Erik Strong, and the latest thorn in Tim's side, Stevie Grayson.

• Even with a match set for the two at Unwanted Gifts, it seems Brendon Idol and Nigel Svensson still won a piece of each other. The two face off in a triple threat along with "Party Starter" Teddy Powell. Will Powell capitalize on Idol and Nigel's hatred or will it consume him?

Quick Picks

NEO Generation: Dark Star vs. Stevie Grayson vs. Tim Westybrook © vs. Ultimate Phoenix

Brendon Idol vs. Nigel Svensson vs. Teddy Powell

Corporate Muscle & Whippy The Clown vs. Masked Patriot & High Flyers

The Fallen vs. Jefferson Stardust & R.P. Superstar

Bradford Peverell vs. Jared Johnson

NEO Generation: Dark Star vs. Stevie Grayson vs. Tim Westybrook © vs. Ultimate Phoenix

- I can't see another Svensson moment for Westybrook. If foolinc foolish goes that way he makes Westybrook into the NEO Transitory Champion.

Brendon Idol vs. Nigel Svensson vs. Teddy Powell

- The Party Starter ends the party for Idol and Svensson and sneaks his way further up the card.

Corporate Muscle & Whippy The Clown vs. Masked Patriot & High Flyers

- Newly named team in Corporate Muscle. And they outsize the other team quite a bit. Also Whippy is fantastic. And I secretly want American Flash to be dropped on his head so hard he can never be on his game again.

The Fallen vs. Jefferson Stardust & R.P. Superstar

- Stardust should be in The Fallen. Few CVerse wrestlers fall down and get pinned more than Staaaaaarduuuust!

Bradford Peverell vs. Jared Johnson

- I flipped a coin. I didn't bother to check it. I'll just go with Johnson because eayragt went with Peverell.

Overall: C+

Show Thoughts: I am continually impressed with the ability of this roster. All I need to do at this point is throw the top guys in multi-man matches and I can guarentee myself a C+ card. Then again, the competition is really tough and is forcing me to come up with finding new ways to constantly improve the quality of my events.

I also am impress with the ability of Startune Productions (and now Das Party Starters) to remain as writable as ever. Never has a group of wrestlers entralled me to keep them around for so long without actually doing anything of worth in the ring. Granted the trio are still improving and haven't plateaued like some of the other "lesser talents," but still it's impressive none the less.

And with this event we are down to only two more shows on the road to Unwanted Gifts 2011, the end of the second chapter in NEO's history (the first chapter was from the beginnning to the jump to "Small").

This really doesn't have to do with anything NEO related, but since it's my thread I'll say it anyway. After constantly citing my NYCW '97 in a couple of threads and how it ended for good via the loss of my notes on 3 months of the game, I was reminded how much I liked that diary (probably why I rushed my RPW diary and in turn why I'm not liking that diary much right now). For some reason I didn't erase the save. So after a good amount of reviewing the history to see what the hell I was doing with the game, I decided to reboot the diary. With this being the case, should I start a new thread or just stick with the old one even though I'd be jumping months ahead? And speaking of the jump, does anyone have a good idea on how I should recap the missing months of game play?

I was going to respond to this in the Preview thread, then got distracted...

Hmm... though call. A big factor for me, I think, is whether anything notable and big happened in that three month gap. As in, will the promotion and roster seem significantly different after that gap? If so, I would say it would be best to start anew. And as for explaining what happened in that period, I'm a fan of revealing stuff slowly in that type of situation, rather than a catch-up post. So if suddenly everyone wonders why Rich Money (or whoever) is NYCW champ, you can slowly reveal what happened in bits and pieces. A bit of mystery and you feed out the stuff slowly...

If nothing much changed - champion Stomper defended the Empire belt three times, no major additions or subtractions - then a continuation with a catch up post might work just fine.

Well originally it was only 3 months, but I frustration I deleted the rest a couple of months ago. My last card was around May game time and where I stopped playing was the beginning of November, so it's a bit longer than three months in-game. And it's not like I have been only running one show a month.

I'll actually will be jumping at least 22 shows, if not a full 30 to start at the beginning of 1998.

But from what you are saying is to do a slow reveal in a new thread, yes?

Yeah, I'd say start over and do the gradual thing. That would be my best recommendation.

Probably the best way to go around it. Thanks for the advice.
