Tuesday Night War

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/astil/MNW/MNW.jpg

The interview begins with a soft light on the three Avatars in the front, Eldest Masked Avatar on the right, the youngest Jack Avatar in the middle and the only daughter Kate Avatar seated on the left. The light becomes more pronounced to reveal three more known men. Rip Chord is seated all the way on the left, with Richard Eisen in the middle and Sam Strong on the right.

Off screen the interview clears his throat.

Interviewer: Well, first we’d all like to thank you for being here.

They all nod and murmur in agreement.

Interviewer: As everyone has surely heard, the Avatar family has taken the wrestling industry by storm over the last six months. I’d like to start with you Jack, as your move made the biggest splash.

Jack Avatar: Yeah, it was … June or July. I was working house shows for Pops around the country in TCW, and that was great.

A few snickers are heard from the owners.

Sam Strong: No one wants to do house show.

Jack: No, no really it was. I was connecting with the fans and wrestling some big stars. However I was begging to feel as if Pop’s connections were the only reason I was viewed so highly and really the only reason I was wrestling the big names. I suppose it’s the same feeling Junior had a few years back. Anyway, when my contract renewal come around, I politely declined, stating I wanted to work the Indies. Pops wasn’t thrilled, but he allowed it.

Richard Eisen: We originally brought the kid in on name value. We figured I’d throw him in a few house shows, then either cut him loose or send him to Nero. However, in just the contract negotiations we released he was definitely his father’s son.

Jack smiles his charismatic smile.

Eisen: The little **** negotiated a “No RIPW” clause. Not even people like Faith or Bruce have that. That raised some major eyebrows around corporate. His work ethic, his charisma, and his knowledge raised a lot of eyebrows.

Jack: It was around then that the Syndicate story Pops created started to take off. The name Avatar was hot around the industry, and according to Mr. Eisen here, I was hot in SWF, without even have wrestled on screen. I was called in by Peter Michaels, who was head booker at the time. He told me that me coming to SWF as a development project wasn’t news. However, SWF naming TCW’s masterpiece writer’s kid as head booker, that was a major coup. I always wanted to be a head booker, something even Pop’s had never been, so I jumped on the opportunity. It was disputed on the TEW forums for a while, yes, I’m a member. However, once SWF Corporate issued a statement, the industry went crazy. Days later TCW launched a media counter attack, naming Pop’s head booker away from Joel Bryant and claiming SWF hired “The second best Avatar, because TCW has the best”

Eisen: Of course we at SWF have not and will not reply to such childish attacks. We are comfortable with the Avatar we have.

Interviewer: Even if he’s only in his early 20s?

Eisen: Especially since he’s in his early 20s. The target demographic of SWF is young adult males. I don’t speak to them. Sam didn’t speak to them. Peter doesn’t speak to them. We’re confident Mr. Avatar here will present SWF Wrestling in a way his age group can appreciate.

Jack: It’s easy too, with the talent SWF employs.

Interviewer: All right, they call you Masked Avatar. How’d you get the gimmick of your father’s youth?

Masked Avatar: Well, spend five minutes with Dad and you’ll realize his favorite time in life was around our age. Twenties. Back then he was the Masked Wrestler, fighting in SWF and a few Indies. When he retired I was 17. He came to me with the mask and simply said “Do me proud, Junior”

Interviewer: Junior?

Masked: I share my father’s name.

Interviewer: Which is?

Masked: … Anyway, I was working around the Indies for a few years now. I didn’t want Dad to feel pressure to book me, and I could tell he was. We split mutually, and I hit the Indies hard. I worked for Phil before the bankruptcy, Stomper, Cliff, Sam and of course Rip.”

Rip Chord: It was about that time that we at MAW started noticing Jean’s performances going downhill a bit. Some of us thought it was due to his duties as booker, so we started to search for a new head booker.

Interviewer: How’d Jean take that?

Chord chuckles.

Chord: He knew his performances were slipping but swore that weren’t from his booking. He didn’t want to lose his power.

Masked: To be honest there is a bit of simmering tension there.

Chord: It was a no-brainer to give Junior the shot here. Look up at the top, and both companies have an Avatar in charge. We offered Junior here the shot right as he walked through the curtain after a match. I thought he might pass out.

Chord chuckles again.

Interviewer: That leaves just you Kate.

Strong: She’s an interesting one. One of a kind. The only person I know with the balls to come to me and not only say hire me, but hire me as your head booker.

Kate Avatar: It just made sense to me. An Avatar ran both SWF and TCW, and Junior just got a job. Father hated when I went to work with AAA, saying “Wrestling isn’t for my daughter.” What he didn’t know was he wasn’t some bimbo he might’ve met with Sam here.

Chord chuckles again.

Chord: She sure isn’t there, is she?

Kate: However I knew that Father would never bring a women’s division into TCW, and I was no ring girl. Honestly, I’m surprised I was the last kid to leave the nest.

Interviewer: She came to you, Sam?

Strong: Right to me, and I mean with a fire in her eye that would’ve scared Chris Caulfield. Half the reason I hired her was I was afraid what she’d do if I said no. The other was keeping up with the Avatars, as the top two had these great booking minds, so hell why not hire one too. Shane’ll be around for a bit, and was confident he would get a book again soon.

The interview cuts out to a dark room. The only light is that of a cigarette, and the smoke clouds the view of the man smoking it.

Interviewer: Do you have any comments about your children?

He speaks in a gruff and slow voice.

The Grand Avatar: **** ‘em.

He was one of the original investors, two words that carried a lot of meaning in the world of Total Championship Wrestling. He was one of the men who saw the problem in 2004. The same problem that exists now in 2008. TCW cannot out Sports Entertainment SWF. It will never happen, even with a young punk at the helm of the Supreme Juggernaut.

To be honest, The Grand Avatar had questions over whether TCW could ever pass SWF. Of course this was a matter not to be brought up with Mr. Cornell. He was as determined a business man as an athlete.

He rapped on the wooden door and was beckoned in.

"You ready Mr. Cornell"

"Avvy, sit, sit."

"Mr. Cornell, the show starts in an hour, you should make an appearance at the locker room at the very least."

"Yeah, yeah, listen ... Avvy. I know this last week or two have been a whirlwind for you."

He grunted, more of a please continue than an agreement.

"We've been together for a while now Avvy. You, Joel, me. We took this company from that clown Stallings. We turned it into a respectable business venture. All the same... Avvy... here are the ground rules:

In my ring, you need to know what your doing. You need to be athletic and have great stamina. You also need to have the knowledge of how a match should be run, let us call it ... psychology. Keep that all in mind for future hirings.

I do not want to seem like the company who cherry picks of off everyone else. Let your kids do that, and let us build up new stars.

The internet is the new age of wrestling, Avvy. TotalExtremeWrestling is the hub of that, and there rankings are a badge of respect among all wrestling companies acknowledged by them. Let us never fall below National Avvy.

Finally, call me selfish, but make sure Wolf is a star. Keep the fans into him and his momentum up."

Some might think the Grand Avatar was simply allowing his boss to ramble, but he took mental notes on everything Mr. Cornell said. He knew that Mr. Cornell did not take kindly to failure, and expected all his goals to be met.

"Those are my owner goals Avvy."

The Grand Avatar grunted again. "My Booker Goal is to get your British arse into that locker room."

Tommy chuckled and got up. It's funny how stress ages a man. He wasn't injured or fatigued, but Cornell looked ten years older getting up. His knees buckled a bit and the Grand Avatar realized how fragile this company was. As Tommy steadied himself and smiled.

"So long as Tana's already in ring gear I'll be down in five."

Of course, come show time Tommy'd be fit as a young pup.

Five minutes later, Tommy Cornell and the Grand Avatar stood side by side. Joel Bryant took the initiative to stand next to the two, showing a touch of class. Cornell was the man who spoke.

"Silence. Bloody silence. Stop snickering Ronnie, bloody is a word. Bloody Americans..."

A chorus of polite laughing hums up from the locker room.

"Some of you have big nights tonight. Some new directions are going to be forged today."

Cornell slaps the back of the Grand Avatar, a bit too hard at that, as Avatar lurches forward and has to catch himself.

"This man here is in charge. Go to him with any and all complaints. I made this move because TCW management agreed that an active wrestler as head booker was a ticking time bomb...

That said, lets blow the roof off this Wildlife Reserve!"

Hoots and Hollering can be heard, just as Minnesota and Andrews return from there preshow match.

Interesting approach. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out. Curious as to who M.V.P. is. Also, I will never forgive that you stole the name I was going to use for the TCW diary that I intend to do someday... Never! :p

D'oh! Wanted to mention that as a side note. M.V.P. is Maxx (Ronnie) V. Pain, Edd's personal bodyguard/parental figure.

And... um ... sorry. It was between "The Industry" and "Tuesday Night Wars".

I like the concept....never really got behind using any avatar's beyond TGA, never used them on screen, but the family idea and this backstory really has me interested and is a great way to kick this off.

Thank you good sir. Hopefully my first show'll be up later tonight (Much, MUCH easier to write than DaVE.)

American Buffalo vs. Rocky Golden

Neither are great, but Golden is somewhat superior, and the bigger name.

Freddy Huggins vs. Rick Law

Seems you gave Huggins the same type of first match in your diary as I gave him in mine.. :p

Danny Fonzarelli and Giant Tana vs. Painful Procedure vs. The Tag Team Specialists vs. The Young Guns

The fun babyfaces are being pushed a little higher then the rest of the tag teams. They pin Painful Procedure, the most useless in the division, here.

The Machines © vs. Party Bus (Edd Stone and M.V.P.)

Heels vs. Heels? Hmm. Well, champs take it here. But, for future referance, you might want to note whether or not a match that involves a champion is a title match. The © makes me assume it's a title defense, but it helps to make it obvious.

Texas Pete vs. Koshiro Ino

One has skills, and potential. The other is a hard-partying Texan, with a supiciously Jewish real name.. :p

Ricky Dale Johnson vs. Sam Keith

The most obvious first choice to go for Cornell's title gets some momentum with a big win here.

That makes sense. I was trying to think of who's initials that would fit. Good use for Pain. I usually end up putting Thatcher in that same role...

No worries... I had no claim to the name, but just thought it was funny. Its a good name, obviously. Since I really don't want to try to run two diaries, a Tee-Cee-Dub diary won't happen for me until SWF is done... and that doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon, with the way things have gone of late.

Shown live from the Utah Park Reservation on GNN Total Sports!

TCW starts with Roky Golden in the ring with a microphone.

"Gold! Goooold!" He yells, which the crowd returns back at him in a crazy old miner sort of voice. Rocky smirks and looks around the crowd.

"So, everyone already ordered Malice?"

The crowd pops.

"I hope so, because as many of you know Rocky Golden will be taking the title off of Tommy Cornell"

The familiar screech of a guitar plays over the P.A. The crowd is in full boo before Sam Keith even gets out past the curtain. They certainly hate the Syndicate.

"Yes, cretins, show your support. Even in your hate, you have to respect. The World Champion, the tag champions and the International Champion. Oh, and myself the greatest wrestler of my generation."

Now the crowd is split, half chanting Stro-ong, while the other half chants Rip it up, clap clap clapclapclap.

Keith stares down Golden.

"As for you, King Cretin for a day, congratulations. You managed to catch me on a bad night and now get to face Cornell in a cage at Malice. Oh, and I pity you. You have to face Cornell in a cage at Malice in Wonderland."

"I beat your ass I can beat his!"

Keith laughs. "Kid, you have no idea. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun watching you fail..."

"Get a front row seat, Sam. I will show you my new belt first."

C+

Ariza: Golden taking on Cornell! What a Main Event at Malice in Wonderland!

Rhodes: Too bad the conclusion is foregone.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/astil/MNW/AmericanBuffalo.jpghttp://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/astil/MNW/vs.jpghttp://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/astil/MNW/RockyGolden.jpg

American Buffalo vs. Rocky Golden

  • Buffalo is pretty overrated in my book.
  • Golden however has some useful mic skills.
  • In a very Sports Entertainment style match mic skills win over.
  • That'll show the smarks were not SWF!

Rocky Golden defeated American Buffalo in 7:33 by pinfall with a Rocky Road.

C+

Ariza: A big win for Rocky that will surely give him confidence heading into Malice.

Rhodes: Surely you aren't comparing Buffalo with Cornell...

The guitar screech sends the crowd into a boo storm again as Wolf Hawkins strides to the ring, International title slung over his right shoulder.

He looks to the screen which shows 4 teams, Danny Fonzarelli & Giant Tana, Painful Procedure, The Tag Team Specialists and The Young Guns.

"One of those four will come out of this challenge with an opportunity to wrestle in the same ring as Wolf Hawkins. Each week a team will be dropped. When one team remains, they will face each other, with the winner facing me in a title match.

The Running with the Wolves challenge starts ... now!"

C+

Ariza: Is he trying to be a promoter too?

Rhodes: He's a man of many talents, Jay.

Running With Wolves Challange

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/astil/MNW/WolfChallange.jpg

  • What to say, what to say...
  • Oxford and Bryant looked good.
  • Tana and the Fonz did not
  • Almost all competitors were off there game
  • Billy Jack Shearer eats the pin.

The Young Guns defeated The Tag Team Specialists, Painful Procedure and Giant Tana and Danny Fonzarelli in 10:17

D+

Rhodes: Looks like the waste of ring space Painful Procedure has been eliminated!

Ariza: A strong showing by the Young Guns! Such team work!

The Machines are backstage stretching. Out of nowhere, Eddie Peak beats down John Anderson with three shots to the head in succession. Brent Hill turns to attack, but Peak is merciless, and pipe shots Hill between the legs. While beating both the unconscious Hill and Anderson, Peak looks at the camera.

"Why did they let me in?" his voice sounds innocent, like a child.

Suddenly a rush of security bursts through they door, including Tommy Cornell. Peak leaves through the crowd of security, but not before Tommy challenges him 1 on 1 for the Main Event.

C+

Ariza: I have no words for what just happened.

Rhodes: That's one of your good guys Jay? He's a god damn psycho!

The Machines© vs. The Party Bus

TCW World Tag Team titles

  • Both Machines are in a bad way.
  • M.V.P. beats around both members
  • Edd flies in with a cross body on Anderson.
  • We have new Tag Champs after a Super Party's Over!

The Party Bus defeated The Machines in 7:43 when Edd Stone defeated John Anderson by pinfall with a Super Party's Over. The Party Bus win the TCW World Tag Team titles.

D+

Rhodes: Behold the ability of a Stone.

Ariza: More like luck, but hey two titles away from the Syndicate.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/astil/MNW/ChanceFortune.jpghttp://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/astil/MNW/vs.jpghttp://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/astil/MNW/SammyBach_alt1.jpg

Chance Fortune vs. Sammy Bach©

TCW All Action title

  • Lightning quick action!
  • A former DaVE star versus a young TC Dubber!
  • These two showed what they can do, and impressed a lot of people tonight.
  • Not the least of which me.

Sammy Bach defeated Chance Fortune in 12:46 by submission with a Bach on Your Back. Sammy Bach makes defence number 1 of his TCW All Action title.

C+

Ariza: A great match by two very young fantastic athletes.

Rhodes: Just what the All Action title was built on.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/astil/MNW/KoshiroIno.jpghttp://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/astil/MNW/vs.jpghttp://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/astil/MNW/TexasPete.jpg

Koshiro Ino vs. Texas Pete

  • Ino debutes to a smark happy Southwestern crowd
  • Of course smark happy means hatred for Pete.
  • Poor, poor Pete.
  • Ino gets in all his offense and dominates the Texan.

Koshiro Ino defeated Texas Pete in 13:09 by pinfall with a Kobra's Bite.

C

Ariza: What a talent acquired by TCW Management!

Rhodes: Relax Jay, he just beat Texas Pete, not a Syndicate member or anything.

  • A dream match here free on Total Wrestling!
  • If you don't believe me Ariza'll tell you 10,000 times
  • RDJ tried to out brawl Keith, but Keith outsmarted him
  • Keith tried to take RDJ to the mat and keep him down, but RDJ over powered him
  • At 17 minutes Keith locks on the Proton Lock...
  • At 17:15 RDJ is still struggling!
  • At 17:30 Kieth pulls RDJ away from the ropes!
  • RDJ taps! RDJ taps!

Sam Keith defeated Ricky Dale Johnson in 17:45 by submission with a Proton Lock.

B-

Rhodes: Hell yeah! Show that redneck what wrestling is!

Ariza: Here's a little fact you may not know Kyle ... you're spiting on me.

Rhodes: Who cares about you Jay, focus on the action, strait man.

  • Talk about intimidating!
  • Peak for what he did to the Machines.
  • Cornell for staring down Peak like just another wrestler.
  • Cornell slows Peak with a ground game to start it of slow.
  • The crowd starts getting into it as Peak almost wiggles free time and again.
  • Peak powers himself to standing position!
  • He lifts Cornell!
  • Sidewalk slam!
  • The momentum has turned!
  • Wild brawling now, as Cornell just tries to survive Peak's surge
  • He does, and locks in the Guilt Trip.
  • Peak won't tap.
  • Cornell torques it harder.
  • Peak still won't tap!
  • Wolf Hawkins distracts the ref while Cornell uses the ropes for leverage.
  • Peak still wont tap!
  • The pain is too much though.
  • After almost 2 and a half minutes in the hold, Peak passes out.

Tommy Cornell defeated Eddie Peak in 18:51 by submission (pass out) with a Guilt Trip.

TCW Total Predictions

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b332/astil/MNW/Rankings.jpg

I'm shocked no one thought Keith could take RDJ. Also I know the tag title switch is kind of a quick SWERVE~ but I absolute detest the Syndicate domination that the game starts with. Plus Self makes me love Edd Stone...

Everyone got the same one wrong, betting on RDJ, the Machines and a tag team not named the Young Guns. All good bets, just wrong in this case.

And to be fair, the SWF side of the war.

RDJ starts out more popular than Keith, which makes it a pretty safe bet. One of the aspects I love about TCW is that the game allows you to go in so many different directions off the start. Most people push RDJ out of the gate because he's a solid worker, very good entertainer, and he's very over - which makes him the typical first main challenger for Mr. Cornell.

Getting the belts off of The Machines early isn't a bad idea. In my experience, they tend to move up the card pretty quickly based on talent and affiliattion, especially if you use them in singles matches. Which means that you end up having two teams - The Machines and The New Wave - feuding over the tag belts that are way above the rest of a mediocre tag division. Have the champs drop the belts and build up some other teams, so you can have a few teams in that title picture...

I don't know about anyone else, but I always go with RDJ/Cornell as the first PPV main event match (I personally like adding the stip that if RDJ loses he can't challenge Cornell again). Ricky is also the clear cut top babyface of TCW and it's not like Sam Keith is a spring chicken. So logically the loss in overness from the match isn't really the greatest of ideas. Especially at the start when your main event scene is so thin.

The multi-tag match was a crap shoot, but seeing the Machines lose so early is a bit shocking considering how good they are. Then again I like having my midcard champs in the upper midcard as well as the midcard. Plus there was no build up at all.

Oh well.

My thoughts, I think you will put Vengeance over High Concept to show how much of a monster Vengeance is but that will really hurt the crediblity of High Concept. They are the most over team, why make them look weak? Almighty Dollar wins, maybe a botched move by Faith cost Bruce the match, a little argument maybe? Would love to see Laramee go over Frehley but come on now!

TEW.com special report (aka posted from my phone while playing TEW)

Dan Stone Sr. has officially retired from all wrestling related activities. In a short press release, the 63 year cited his age. However, we here at TEW believe this was in ghe works since Victoria retired. It is a move to try and keep McFly, but may ultimately result in the lose of Dan Jr. or Jeremy.

More as we get it...

<p>I'm intrigued by a diary where you'll have control over America's 3 biggest promotions, and my favourite indy. The great thing with multi-player games (even if it's only one human), is that you don't have all the forum favourites getting snapped up by one company, which forces you to do more, with less. Good luck, mate.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>I agree with the earlier comment, that it's strange to have High Concept in this match, since they're one of your top teams. Regardless, Vengeance is a monster, and will go over.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Biggz Boyz</strong> vs. The Samoan Wildboyz</p><p>

<em>I like the Biggz Boyz. They carried my tag division, in my only long-term SWF game ('05). Akima Brave is a good prospect, but I could never get into Kid Toma. He just didn't strike me as anything special.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Eric Eisen</strong> vs. Valiant</p><p>

<em>I always liked Eric Eisen as an underdog face, getting picked on by his overly controlling father. I always thought the spoiled brat shtick felt a little forced.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Kurt Laramee vs. <strong>Steve Frehley</strong></p><p>

<em>I'm not a big fan of either of these guys, but I'm less of a fan of Laramee. He just seems so... meh....</em></p><p> </p><p>

The Almighty Dollar vs. <strong>Christian Faith and Jack Bruce</strong></p><p>

<em>I love the Almighty Dollar, but I don't see the champ, and the gatekeeper going down so soon.</em></p>

Wow, lots of picks. Show'll be up tommorrow, because Notepad ate it (read Astil's laptop died before he saved it)

Also on RDJ ... you'll see. I do value Keith more than RDJ, buuut that loss may be indicative of things to come.
