"Free" TEW08!

Well, not exactly. :p

After reading a few of the forums, I figured this might be something some folks may wish to take advantage of.

I have 4 TEW08 keys available to anyone who wants/needs them. I understand that some folks may not be able to shell out for the game (given today's economic climate) but still may want to play so here's the deal:

If you can do any kind of visual representation (logos, banners, renders, merchandise, video, etc), PM me and I'll tell you what I'm looking for. This is my feeble attempt to get more folks into TEW (man, I feel like a drug dealer. "First hit is free!"). I have one person who has taken me up on the offer but I have 4 keys left. And by 'video', I don't mean excessive types of things. A simple logo shown with music playing in the background is sufficient.

Note: This is for folks who don't have 08 as of yet. All you wily old vets, shoo! GET OFF MY LAWN!!! :p

I can't honestly believe that someone doesn't have a 34.95 dollars to spare for a game. I don't get it.

Stuff is hard in the States, FIN. Folks who worked in (or even WITH) certain industries (auto, banking/finance, construction, real estate) are in dire straits since those industries are tanking. It's like, what do you do if you've been doing the same job for 20 years and now you don't have it anymore? And there are SO many people in your field looking for work that your experience actually works against you (since salary is often commensurate with experience so you're too expensive). I have a buddy who worked in the 'emerging technologies' division of a major auto parts manufacturer. They developed a lot of the parts being used in current and future hybrid/alternative fuel cars (including GM's Chevy Volt). Who were three of their top accounts? Yup, GM, Ford, and Chrysler. Massive layoffs occurred simply because the 'hybrid revolution' wasn't picking up as fast as folks thought it would so the division was severely cut down. So what's he going to do when all companies he has the experience and know-how to work for are in a similar situation as his old company? Well, with three children, a wife, and an ailing mother-in-law to take care of (his wife's an elementary school teacher and they make sh*t here), he hits up his friends to invest in a company that makes environmentally friendly building materials and systems. But the company won't make money for another 8 months, so all of the "non-essential" household expenses have to be cut. WoW accounts? Closed. Satellite plan? Cut down to 'basic' (from the 'super premium, get more channels than you even know you have' plan). And did I mention his oldest graduates high school next spring? And he's got a firm financial plan. Others are still looking for jobs.

So yeah, $35 is nothing when you've got money coming in. But if the money's only going out, it can be a problem.

Sorry about my bad english on this one, I can't explain these things that well:

Well yeah. I'm 22 and haven't been unemployed for a single day so yeah I should have taken another viewpoint. And of course things are different in US compared to Finland. With such a good backing from the social security and such there really aren't that many _really_ poor people, even though they are unemployed. I've always had a mentality like "A person who wants to work will find work".. Altough I must say that I live by myself, don't have a family to feed, don't have almost any expenses besides the basics like food, occasional clothes and the bills from the rent, mobile phone and internet connection. I don't even have a car :p

23m^2 apartment near Tampere, rent is 412€. 8M internet about 40e/month, mobile phone 8€/month.. With nearly two thousand euros as a salary from the supermarket I have worked for almost five years, I'm fine. I've tried to go to university and such but haven't made trough the pre-exams but I'm now thinking of staying at the market industry and study from within the business chain.. etc. I Could one day be a store manager ^^

No sweat, FIN. I totally understand. Honestly, if I didn't know several people on the other side of the equation (including one person with $40,000 in credit card debt when AIG's bubble burst), I'd be saying the same thing. I'm doing fine but then, I've been running my own businesses since I was 15 (so, 21 years and counting), only taking jobs to learn new industries or divisions. As a result, my resumé is a mess (though it is travel focused). :p I've gotten several friends to start their own businesses to at least provide a fallback plan "in case of emergency" and that has worked well.

Down to 3 keys now btw. Get 'em while they're hot! :)

People are losing jobs, homes, and those who haven't are pretty much hanging on, hoping theirs aren't lost. Many folks aren't indulging in the finer things in life because they're trying to live within their means, esp with the gas prices what they are. Many of our states are massively in debt, and as such many cities went without a fireworks display for July 4th. This isn't the 90's Clinton boom. Times have changed. Obama and Bush along with the rest of Washington have run this country financially into the ground.</p>

<p>It has affected Finland also, of course, just not as bad as there. I know a lot of guys who have lost their jobs here also, due to the economic crisis. More and more people are getting unemployed but still, the situation isn't even close as bad as it surely is in the states.</p><p> </p><p>

But hey, we'll get trough this. I'm sure. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>yeah my mom just got laid off from Great American and she was only working there for 3, she is a people soft programer but she has been in her field for almost 20 years they laid her off so they could hire 3 people that are half her age for the same price they where pay her and she is putting me through college paying for it herself as she made some bad credit chocies when she was younger and can't get a student loan for me so now she take contract jobs paying her hourly for a few weeks or months until the job is finished, so she might be working for a few weeks making 3-5k a week but then might not have a job for months at a time.</p><p> </p><p>

alot of companies are doing this. Why pay for 1 person so much when you can hire 3 people for the same you are paying the 1 person</p>

<p>Not to turn this into a political discussion, but it's hard to talk about personal responsibility when the government is trying to encroach in personal decisions.</p><p> </p><p>

More on topic, pretty cool that you're giving these away (too bad I have one already).</p>

It leads to a lot of false positives and negatives where people assume that just because a particular guy was sitting in the chair at the time, he's fully responsible for the ups or downs of the economy.</p>
