:p

GET HIM!!!!

Waghlon should be made to write "Picking Ron Greenhorn is not big or clever" 10,000 times on the whiteboard ;)

Actually, I almost picked him, that's what's funny.

He's cheap, he has popularity, and he's very consistent :D

*glare*

Vote: praguepride for the obvious scum tell. :p

Never stop being yourselves. :D

No seriously don't stop making these funny night phase-ish post. With me using survey monkey the diary isn't going to be getting bumped through people posting predictions. I need you guys to save the diary from getting buried. ;)

Chapter #1

The 0/0/0 Promotion or How I Learn To Love Dusty Bin

Review and Results of Assessment #1

Roll Call (60): angeldelayette, ARogue, Arsehole Joe, Astil, Astyn, AzzMartin, bak42, Bankmanship, benjacko, BHK1978, blah, Clarity, Destiny, DRM, edenborn, FINisher, hrdcoresidebrns, Huntman, Hyde Hill, Imarevenant, Jack Frost, jerlito, JuggaloNinjaLee, KarlKitsch, Kovic, Kowalewski, Marcel Fromage, maskedpropaganda, MichiganHero, Midnightnick, MrOnu, My Name is Not..., Nedew, NeoMetsFan, pate, praguepride, randomfreeze, ReapeR, Remianen, SeanMcFly, Self, ShadowedFlames, shamelessposer, Showtime4Lajf, smurphy1014, Sonfaro, TDubTNA, The Dunce, The Mystery, TheStroke7, Tigerkinney, Trell, Truth, Tweek It, Unregistered, Waghlon, Wallbanger, WeeMan, xxx, Zeel1

Before getting into the result of the 1st assessment, I would like to say that I am floored by the amount of responses this diary has gotten. I was a little worried that no one would care now that TEW 2010 got announced. The fact that the diary fell like a rock and didn't get the standard "I'll be watching" post after the intro post didn't help matters. So imagine my shock and amazement when I see the responses to the assessment keep getting higher and higher. Of course now after having so much interest in my diary I now kind of feel like Carrie right at the moment she won Queen of the Prom. Now I'm just waiting for you guys to reveal that it's all a joke and spill the preverbal pig's blood on my head. ;)

Now then where were we? Oh yeah, the results of the first assessments. Like I was saying before, when starting a local promotion you are going to need a handful of workers to carry your new promotion. And while you could argue that it really doesn't matter who you choose because of the lack of pressure put on the booker (almost any card is going to improve the promotion's overness and you don't have to worry about a regional battle), but the finances of a local promotion can be very restricting I would argue that the choice of your main eventers can make or break your game. With the right picks you are going to be able to crawl your way to Small size a lot faster (opening up a lot of options creatively) thanks to the increase in grades. That said, I would much rather sign a worker that you connect with. It is your game/diary and if you are comfortable with your top guys, you are going to be able to book your promotion a hell of a lot easier. It's why I was able to run NEO for so long. I was able to connect with guys like Nigel Svensson, Erik Strong, and Brendon Idol and was able to come up with stroylines ideas for them a lot easier than some of my other workers.

So with that said, let's take a closer look at each of the 16 candidates one last time.

Worker Pool Overview

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/BobCasey.jpg

Name: Bob Casey

Age: 32

Weight Class: Middleweight

Wrestling Style: Regular Wrestler

Bio: Bob Casey is a journeyman who has wrestled for most of the biggest promotions around at some point in his career. Solid but completely unspectacular, his main attribute is that he is ultra-reliable, and so promoters know that they can send him out to the ring and be guaranteed that he'll make his opponent look great. While that has meant he has spent most of his career staring at the ceiling, it has also meant he's never been short of work.

My Thoughts: As much as I made fun of Mr. Casey in my NEO for getting the book for NOTBPW and then giving himself their low level title, he really isn't that bad of a worker. Sure he can't speak doesn't have a rating higher than a D in the rumble, flying, and technical skills, and only has a D+ in stamina, but he has something a lot of "local level" workers doesn't. Performance Skills. Bob is without a doubt one of the best workers in terms of performance that a local promotion can find and in turn will be able to transfer these skills to the rest of the roster, while hopefully picking up some rumble, flying, and/or technical skills in the process. Definitely someone to consider.

Your Thoughts: "performance skills and his fine attitude" (edenborn), "cheap and can almost pull an F+ match if we need it" (Waghlon), "has important skills that should at some point be taught to every member of the roster anyway" (shamelessposer), "May be good as a lower-mid or at best a mid-carder...wouldn't have him headlining the promotion" (ShadowedFlames)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/CalvinDark.jpg

Name: Calvin Dark

Age: 34

Weight Class: Small

Wrestling Style: Technician

Bio: "The Black Mark" Calvin Dark is a veteran technical worker, who has always felt that his small size has held him back, when in fact it's more to do with his small amount of talent. After leaving long time employers NOTBPW in 2003 after getting tired of never being able to rise up the card, he headed for Canadian Charisma Championship Combat, were he was a solid midcarder until late 2006, when he walked out after a pay dispute. Fun fact: He hates Christmas.

My Thoughts: As weird as it seems, he's probably a poor man's Bob Casey. High in performance and low in everything else (Different class and style though). Of course he does has a solid render so while I probably wouldn't bring him to be one of the four headliners, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else did.

Your Thoughts: "Black Mark Calvin Dark FTW! Give me my F!" (The Dunce), "Fear The Black Mark, Calvin Dark!" (Self), "His personality wouldn't sit well with me making him a main feature" (ShadowedFlames)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/CanadianCrusher.jpg

Name: Canadian Crusher

Age: 21

Weight Class: Heavyweight

Wrestling Style: Entertainer

Bio: Canadian Crusher is a powerhouse rookie from Montreal. An ex-body builder, he certainly has the physique of a star, however it is far too early in his career at this point to decide whether he has the potential to develop the skills to match. He joined 4C in Canada in 2007 shortly after his pro debut.

My Thoughts: At first glance the Crusher doesn't look like a worthwhile wrestler, much less someone you want to carry your promotion. But, the ex-body builder has a lot of potential. He's already pretty consistent in the ring and for a hoss is pretty athletic too (C- in stamina!). He also has a lot of power and a menacing, which means he will be able to get over with menace angles. He's not outstanding in any other areas, but he's not totally lacking in any area that going to hold him back either.

Your Thoughts: "May be best as a midcarder until he gets some improvement to skills" (ShadowedFlames)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/DavisWayneNewton.jpg

Name: Davis Wayne Newton

Age: 20

Weight Class: Middleweight

Wrestling Style: Regular Wrestler

Bio: "The Triple Threat" Davis Wayne Newton is a young wrestler who is loaded with potential. A naturally gifted athlete who could excel at any sport, he brings a superb all-round game to the table, being able to brawl, counter wrestle, or take to the air. Other than injuries, there doesn't seem to be much that can stop the blue chipper from Toronto becoming a major player. He made his pro debut in May 2007, working for 4C, having been trained in America by the legendary Rip Chord.

My Thoughts: Davis Wayne Newton is a man on a totally different level from the rest of the pack and you would be crazy not to sign him as a Canadian based company. And I would say that depending on the promotion, he's more than worth it to take the hit on travelling expenses and sign him to be one of your pillars in any promotion. The only downside of using him is the fact that everyone and their mother uses him. Can't wait for him to be mentally poisoned by success in TEW 2010.

Your Thoughts: "simply a lock" (MrOnu), "greatest price/performance ratio in canada" (TheStroke7), "ultra-talented" (edenborn), "an carry the promotion with ratings" (Marcel Fromage), "one to really work with and help develop the younger talent while making him your main figurehead" (ShadowedFlames), "is this even a question to ask? DWN is like the best young prospect there is in the business" (The Mystery)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/FlashSavage.jpg

Name: Flash Savage

Age: 21

Weight Class: Small

Wrestling Style: Cruiserweight

Bio: "The Tiny Terror" Flash Savage is a very small lightweight worker, who has started making a name for himself with his work in Mid Atlantic Wrestling, where he is one half of the entertaining heel tag team The Canadian Blondes, alongside Oscar Golden. Not a great worker, his main selling point is his youthful boy band looks, which he works to his advantage. He also sometimes works under the name Percy Cution while working outside of MAW.

My Thoughts: You could do a lot worse than Flash Savage for a worker. He's a solid cruiserweight that can wrestle as well as hold his own in promos. He can be a little inconsistent and interestingly enough only has a D+ in stamina. Though neither will really come into play till the promotion starts to grow in size. And by that time those stats are most likely going to be improved anyway.

Your Thoughts: " work with MAW...probably help them improve their game" (MrOnu), "help with the performance skills, and the aerial stuff a little. I'd be worried about his mercenary tendencies" (ShadowedFlames)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/HueyCannonball.jpg

Name: Huey Cannonball

Age: 22

Weight Class: Lightweight

Wrestling Style: Spot Monkey

Bio: "Amazing" Huey Cannonball is a young prospect who is trying to make it in the business. During his early years on the Canadian independent scene he was solid, if unspectacular in his performances, but showed enough potential to make him an exciting prospect for the future. That drew the attention of MAW, who signed him to their roster. He has since become an "unofficial" third member of the Canadian Blondes team, acting as primary interference runner for Oscar Golden and Flash Savage.

My Thoughts: Huey's an interesting character. He's got a lot of potential and seems to have a good base in performance, flying, and technical skills, but at the same time he has no stamina and is a spot monkey. I really don't like spot monkeys, but in my experience Huey will most likely change styles before it starts to hurt his ratings to a point that it hurts the promotion.

Your Thoughts: "Spot Monkey. PASS!" (ShadowedFlames)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/JasonThunder.jpg

Name: Jason Thunder

Age: 21

Weight Class: Middleweight

Wrestling Style: Regular Wrestler

Bio: Jason Thunder is a rookie Canadian worker. A old-school technical wrestler, he is at his best when using holds and counter-holds to work over an opponent. He first came to people's attention in 4C in 2007, debuting alongside Lightning Lomas as "Thunder & Lightning".

My Thoughts: If you want a solid technical prospect then Thunder might be your guy. He's got really good technical skills for his age and is backed up with some nice performance skills. He even has a nice start on his rumble and flying skills if you want to turn him into more of an all-rounder.

Your Thoughts: "Technicians help...His Psych leaves some to be desired, but I'd push the guy. After all, they've made Big Smack Scott a champ in other promotions!" (ShadowedFlames)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/LightningLomas.jpg

Name: Lightning Lomas

Age: 20

Weight Class: Middleweight

Wrestling Style: Regular Wrestler

Bio: Kevin "Lightning" Lomas is a youngster from Canada, who first started to taste fame in 2007 in 4C as one half of "Thunder & Lightning", alongside fellow rookie Jason Thunder. A solid technical wrestler, Lomas isn't the most spectacular worker in the world but he is reliable and hard working.

My Thoughts: Almost a mirror image to his tag partner, Jason Thunder. The only difference between the two is that Lightning has a bit more skill in his performance skills and a bit less in his other skills.

Your Thoughts: "Almost similar to Thunder" (ShadowedFlames)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/OscarGolden.jpg

Name: Oscar Golden

Age: 21

Weight Class: Lightweight

Wrestling Style: Regular Wrestler

Bio: "Pretty Boy" Oscar Golden is a young Canadian rookie, who has just started to make a name for himself in the business with Rip Chord's Mid Atlantic Wrestling. He is best known for teaming up with Flash Savage as the Canadian Blondes, an entertaining duo (and occasionally trio, with Huey Cannonball), who specialise in riling the crowd up with their arrogant antics. With a great look and rapidly improving skills, Oscar looks set to be a big star eventually. He is also an accomplished jazz pianist.

My Thoughts: Much like his tag team partner, Flash Savage, you really can't go wrong with Oscar Golden. Golden matches his flying skills with technical wrestling, however isn't as good on the mic as Flash.

Your Thoughts: "Mercenary traits may be a pain, but he's a good midcarder with acceptable performance and mat skills. With the right bit of work, he could be a main eventer." (ShadowedFlames)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/Raphael.jpg

Name: Raphael

Age: 20

Weight Class: Lightweight

Wrestling Style: Regular Wrestler

Bio: Debuting in late 2004, Raphael seemed to be little more than a pretty boy with very limited skills. However, through sheer hard work he has turned himself into a fine worker, and is now considered a very bright prospect indeed. That effort was paid off in 2006, when he caught the eye of Professor Nero, who was on the look out for new talent for RIPW, and Raphael headed to New England.

My Thoughts: Raphael is like Oscar Golden only better. He's a talented lightweight wrestler than has high performance stats and is able to wrestle either an aerial or mat based style. Unlike Oscar, Raphael can also wrestle a 20+ minute match without getting tired (depending on the promotion's product and the match). All he really needs is a bit of help with his entertainment skills for Raphael to be considered a complete package.

Your Thoughts: " work with [RIPW]...probably help them improve their game" (MrOnu), "that guy has always had a chance with my small Feds" (TheStroke7), "performance and technical skills that look promising...aerial an added bonus" (edenborn), "underrated...solid" (Marcel Fromage), "Not enough good things can be said about Raphael...few Entertainment boosts away from a comfortable midcard position in SWF or TCW...Performance skills are fantastic, his mat wrestling is some of the best in the indies, he's not too fragile...only twenty years old" (shamelessposer), "Scheduling and cost are my main worries. May be worth a shot though...may be able to help your other guys with his decent Psych stat, too." (ShadowedFlames), "one of those hot prospects and has a chance to become a franchise player if he improves" (The Mystery)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/RonGreenhorn.jpg

Name: Ron Greenhorn

Age: 34

Weight Class: Middleweight

Wrestling Style: Technician

Bio: Ron Greenhorn, who also sometimes works as "Ronnie G.", is a decent technical worker from Calgary. Sadly he is also one of the dullest people on the planet, without a single ounce of charisma in his entire body.

My Thoughts: Greenhorn has without a doubt one of the best consistency stats in the game (A*). The problem? He sucks at everything else and doesn't have a lot of time to improve before he retires.

Your Thoughts: "cheap and can almost pull an F+ match if we need it" (Waghlon), " lower-to-mid at best, leeching charisma/personality from your more popular guys while delivering some technical skills to them." (ShadowedFlames)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/TempestAppleby.jpg

Name: Tempest Appleby

Age: 32

Weight Class: Lightweight

Wrestling Style: Cruiserweight

Bio: Tempest Appleby, "The Mover From Vancouver", is a very fast lightweight worker, who has an awesome range of top rope moves at his disposal. As well as his homeland of Canada, he also fights regularly in Mexico and Japan.

My Thoughts: Tempest has a lot of good things going for him. He has the performance skills that someone in the main events needs, more than enough stamina to wrestle a main event match, and has averages a B flying skills. He's over the age of 30 and can't speak, but for a local promotion is that really a problem?

Your Thoughts: "aerial ability could see some D's in his matches if he gets someone to carrry him" (Waghlon), "kind of guy who gets to stick around for a good while, putting on predictably good matches the whole time" (shamelessposer), "Too much of a flake for my liking. Tempting, but not enough for me to work with. I've heard horror stories" (ShadowedFlames)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/TJBailey.jpg

Name: TJ Bailey

Age: 24

Weight Class: Lightweight

Wrestling Style: Entertainer

Bio: Tyler James "TJ" Bailey is a young all-rounder. His biggest claim to fame from his career so far is that he has appeared as a jobber on some Total Championship Wrestling shows, getting beaten by stars like Liberty and Ricky Dale Johnson. In 2007 he finally got picked up for a run with a "name" promotion, heading to Canada to work for 4C.

My Thoughts: Hey looks it's an American based in Canada! TJ Bailey is a really nice worker. The young man looks to become a solid all-rounder in the years to come, though he is currently considered more of a high flyer. He also has the one of the biggest improvements from TEW 2007 to TEW 2008.

Your Thoughts: "Good for his charisma, but scheduling may be an issue." (ShadowedFlames)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/TooHot.jpg

Name: Too Hot

Age: 27

Weight Class: Lightweight

Wrestling Style: Entertainer

Bio: Jason "Too Hot" Evans is a flashy high flier, probably best known at the moment for providing a sense of fun to 4C shows with his break-dancing and comedy spots. Originally from North Dakota, he first broke into the business on the local independent scene, working in a tag team with another young wrestler from that area, Matt Sparrow. The team never really caught on, splitting up pretty soon after, and after a few years of paying his dues, Jason headed north to join 4C in 2005.

My Thoughts: The 2nd American on our list, Too Hot is a really nice high flyer that is backed up with solid performance skills. He also has one of the best entertainment skill sets, which is really nice because is he considered a entertainer.

Your Thoughts: "definitely a must" (Astil), "good guy to have in the locker room. Plus, he's different to the other 3 both in looks and style." (Marcel Fromage), "Good for performance and aerial if you're going that route. Fairly consistent too " (ShadowedFlames), "Reliable main event competition" (The Mystery)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/Valentine.jpg

Name: Valentine

Age: 21

Weight Class: Middleweight

Wrestling Style: Entertainer

Bio: Valentine is a rookie with a solid all-round game, who is considered to be a bright prospect. His arrogant heel act is always a good one. He also sometimes works under the name Romeo Romaro.

My Thoughts: Skill wise, he's a poor man's Warren Technique (though he is a bit bigger psychically and is an entertainer instead of a Technician). However I could see someone taking him over Warren because of his size and style.

Your Thoughts: "cheap, slightly more reliable guty than (Bob Casey & Ron Greenhorn" (Waghlon), "well rounded and young...long term project" (shamelessposer), "could also be pushed decently into main event status. His personality is what makes me hesitate, though" (ShadowedFlames)

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/TEW108/75x75pics/WarrenTechnique.jpg

Name: Warren Technique

Age: 22

Weight Class: Lightweight

Wrestling Style: Technician

Bio: "The Machine" Warren Technique has only been wrestling professionally since late 2003, but has already shown enough skill and dedication that people have marked him for future success in the business. He joined 4C in the summer of 2004 for his first taste of regular work, and became one of the company's hottest properties, thanks in part to a fantastic series of matches with Joey Poison that immediately established Warren as a major contender. In retrospect, that proved to be something of a false dawn; once the feud with Poison was over, Warren dropped down the card in rapid fashion, and by the time of his release in 2007 had been drifting aimlessly in the midcard for over a year.

My Thoughts: Can someone tell me how this man is out of work? Warren might be a bit boring, but he has solid skills all-round and still really young to boot.

Your Thoughts: "overall good "vet, definitely a must" (Astil), "could be portrayed as hungry for success after being ditched by 4C - he has a bit of name value and isn't a bad worker" (Marcel Fromage), "May present trouble backstage, but as long as you can learn from him then use him!" (ShadowedFlames), "Reliable main event competition" (The Mystery)

That overview was a bit longer than I thought it was going to be, but you guys gave me so much feedback that I couldn't not use it. There were a couple of questions that didn't really fit the format of this post, so in an attempt to save this post from getting any longer I am going answer them in a little Q&A segement either with the next official update on Monday or a bonus update this weekend. So if you have any questions or comments that you either didn't think of before or came into your mind because of this update, please feel free to ask them by either posting them in the thread or through pm. Either is fine.

Anyway taking a look at the pool of workers we had to work with, I would say that while the pool looks a little bare there is still more than enough talent to create a promotion. And from your choices, I'd think you'd agree. Earlier I said that I was surprised to see that everyone was picked, but now I'm more surprised that everyone was picked twice.

NAME VOTES	PERCENTAGE
Bob Casey 27	45.00%
Calvin Dark 10	16.70%
Canadian Crusher	10	16.70%
Davis Wayne Newton	47	78.30%
Flash Savage 12	20.00%
Huey Cannonball 5	8.30%
Jason Thunder 4	6.70%
Lightning Lomas 2	3.30%
Oscar Golden 13	21.70%
Raphael 23	38.30%
Ron Greenhorn 3	5.00%
Tempest Appleby 15	25.00%
TJ Bailey 7	11.70%
Too Hot 15	25.00%
Warren Technique	34	56.70%
Valentine 13	21.70%

Besides the shear number of variety from you guys, I'd say the biggest surprise was the love of Calvin Dark. I thought I liked him just as much as anyone else, but I was kind of shocked to see the 35 year old getting more votes than a promising youngster like TJ Bailey. I'm also a little surprised to see Bob Casey placing 3rd in front of younger workers like Raphael and Too Hot.

Going with your votes the headliners/main eventers/aces for our new promotion would be Davis Wayne Newton, Warren Technique, Bob Casey, and Raphael. However, we aren't going with the voting since I've already played completely through this chapter (though now that I know just how much interest this got from the forum, you can bet the house that I will be doing a "We Play" chapter/dairy once 2010 comes out; should be fun for everyone since we'll all be at the same level of experience).

For the purposes of this diary, I went with these four wrestlers: Davis Wayne Newton (1st), Raphael (4th), Tempest Appleby (T-5th), and Warren Technique (2nd). Interestingly enough, I decided on Raphael, DWN, and Warren quickly and the 4th spot I was deciding on Tempest, Too Hot, and Casey. In the end I went with Tempest because he was cheaper than Too Hot and because I wanted another strong high flyer. Pretty cool to think that the top people on my list ended up being the top people overall.

Up next: Monday we will be going over the rest of the roster as well as their starting alignments and gimmicks. Because of the low numbers of workers in the pool there is just enough workers to fill the roster and in turn there will be no homework for you. Have a good weekend! See you on Monday.

Note: Do you think I should separate this update into two posts or is one post just fine? And as always if you have any comments or suggestions on ways to improve the diary, please say so. Feedback is important for any diary.

Hey sorry teach, been in detention, stupid wrestling coach got bent out of shape over the use of a foreign object, it was an American made chair but he got me on a technicality because it was assembled in China:mad:

The four I picked got the most votes, go me! :)

I'm surprised that you didn't get made fun of from Astil and company for being a know it all. ;)

I think it's fine as one post.

Ditto. Though I admit I was a bit surprised that my impromptu analysis for every worker there was actually read...:D

One post it is. ShadowedFlames, your analysis was the reason that everyone comments were laid out in the fashion they were. Didn't really know what I was going to do till I saw yours.

Is it a bad thing that I don't remember who I voted for?

I hope not, I can only remember half of my picks.

If you want I can tell you who you voted for.

We voted???

All I remember is I clicked a couple of times, lights went out, and... I don't wanna talk about it.

What did you see in your Flash Forward?

Speaking of Flash Forward don't bother to create a diary this month. I saw that I won the Rookie Diary of the Month. Yeah, that's the ticket! ;)

I was the Dunce, and I gotta say that Calvin Dark is just one of those guys who has "it". I called Big Smack Scott in 2005, and look where he is now. How can I be doubted?

Ah. This bring up an interesting question: Do you guys want me to add an optional field for an alter ego that you want to go by in terms of predictions and comments?

All kidding aside, I like the sort of vibe we've got going on in here. Quite interesting, should make this fun.</p>
