Good for a laugh.

That's brilliant. The buildup and heat was there, and you need fun stuff like this for house shows (even if it doesn't elevate anybody, except for Ellsworth in case of the chokeslam). As long as it's not televized you can do whatever you want so it doesn't hurt the "finishers".

As for the title changes this last year: do people still care about the legacies of the titles? With attention spans decreasing by the minute, WWE seems to flip the title more often than not, but I guess people don't mind that much and forgot about it. It's just a symbol that comes with a push and headlights on your face. It's not more than that.

Another rumor is Ellsworth being let go when his contract ends. I hope not. He gets decent heat and works well as a comedy heel. Perfect for squash jobs on 205 Live but I guess Rockstar Spud will take that role soon.

That's a bit disappointing. I figured he would be this generation's Iron Mike Sharpe.

In other news I flipped on Raw for the heck of it just to watch HHH bury Jason Jordan. The only thing that will save this guy now is a heel turn and him screwing over Team Raw at Survivor Series.

My favourite highlight from RAW was Angle being forced to replace Jason Jordan as part of the RAW Surivivor Series team. Lots of dramatic tensions in there with lots of emotion from everyone involved, it was an excellent segment capped off by an excellent on screen return of Triple H too. I suspect it will feature heavily in some future Wrestlemania video packages for whatever version of a match comes from that. :D

I think both matches would be intriguing for mania.

Raw was good, but just the opening segment of Styles and Daniel Bryan on Smackdown was beautiful. I loved Daniel Bryan calling Brock out as a big quitter.. Its true, he's always one bad backstage argument away from leaving like WWE should be grateful of his presence.

And the opening segment with all of the Smackdown roster is inspired and dancing around and being pals, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were the only ones who looked checked out, just liked that it has me wondering what is going on in their heads and how it plays into Survivor Series.

The Kurt Angle's Son gimmick has been good for Jordan so far, BUT that whole "please don't take me off the match, Daddy" while crying to me has destroyed every bit of manhood he ever earned in his career so far. He's in his 20s not his teens... it was bad.

Really? He's having the biggest achievement of his life being taken away from him by the dad he never knew he had... a dad who has accomplished far grander things with far worse injuries and who doesn't seem to think his son can do it. That's a hugely emotional moment for his character and something that will be huge for the character's motivation for a long time to come... it was great sports entertainment drama and feels like the beginning of a payoff to something that has been bubbling a little low for a while.

On a tangential note, men can cry. It happens. We're not machines and to say he's lost his manhood for having emotions is a crappy thing to say about another human being in general, even if in this instance it's a character on TV.

The Jordan/Angle storyline has been a complete bust going by crowd reactions. Jordan is a workrate guy not a character guy. Having said that... the one thing that has saved the storyline for me is Jason and Kurt's commitment to trying to make it work (and I like Jordan's ring work) even though their acting has veered into cringey melodrama at times.

As for Ellsworth, he was lucky to get a contract in the first place but I still feel like they could have used him for a bit longer. I'd really love it if he got a throwaway Rumble appearance. Let Braun eliminate him in a few seconds to bring his story full circle.

So does anyone give AJ a chance of beating Lesnar? The realist in me says no way in hell but the optimist in me says it's a non-title match so Lesnar could afford to give Styles the rub. Losing to Goldberg did him no harm and that was for the title. And they could always do a Jinder run-in that backfires then we can get the original Lesnar-Jinder squash at the Rumble. The SS build has been unpredictable with Vince desperate for ratings so I'm willing to keep an open mind.

I'm on board with an AJ win. He could use the elevation and Brock... well, he's Brock. What can anyone do to lessen his impact? Certainly losing to AJ Styles won't hurt.

Only The Big Dog will beat Lesnar. It is what it is. Do you guys remember the days where Lesnar actually lost a match here and there, once in a while? Cena, Taker, Triple H. Heck, even Goldberg. Guy hasn't lost in about a year and I seriously doubt Vinnie Mac will change his plan and hand over the win to Styles. Would be cool, though.
