The Official WWE / NXT Discussion Thread *May Contain Spoilers*

I am a hockey fan and yes Wednesday night has been a marquee NHL night for close to a decade now. NXT has a steady set audience that will be move with the show and USA is in more homes than NBC sports was so that coupled with the NHL viewership in general going up the previous years it makes more sense to move NXT.

Jim Cornette said that the move was more to do with the NHL moving into that spot and less to do with AEW beating them. The NHL will probably outdraw NXT in that timeslot so it makes sense to put them there.

I am not a huge hockey fan so I don't know if it is entirely true but I think Wednesday nights were typically nights when they would have national games broadcast. It is that way for both the NBA and MLB.

I'm sure the move is a strategic one based on NXT never beating AEW and hockey moving to Wednesdays. I'm sure both play a significant part in the decision to move the show.

Also, the rumor is Regal is going to announce NXT Women's Tag Titles on the show tonight. Seems absolutely unnecessary. They don't even have enough actual women's tag teams for the women's tag titles the company already has. Hell, the current champs are a stupid team made up of singles wrestlers. I love Shayna but she's being horribly misused by being paired with the walking botch machine Nia.

Fastlane has been awful other than Drew vs Sheamus.

How did they follow that banger up? With one of the worst segments I have seen in my 30ish years of fandom and I watched Russo book WCW and TNA. Alexa, Bray, and Orton all deserve better.

On a positive note, it seems WWE may have actually granted Andrade his release judging off his recent Tweets. Good for him.

Same. They need to figure out how to keep her relevant without always having her in the title picture.

She's mega talented and one of the better workers on the roster, but she's getting the Cena treatment and it's obnoxious.

She won her first women's title almost 7 years ago and in that 7 years she had the record for most title wins of any woman in WWE history with 12. It's bonkers

So apparently there was a "team meeting" before NXT this week where the top brass talked about how AEW has been bullying NXT and that NXT has come so far for such a small brand. Basically calling themselves the little engine that could and that they're victims of AEW. Also, that the move to Tuesdays is good because it'll have Raw leading into it and they'll have the night to themselves.

If they were putting on trash product when they were up against a promotion with more money than them, why should we believe it'll be any different when they don't have any competition?

For everything WWE have done editing content on the Network, it makes me very angry that it still features unedited commentary from Joey Styles on One Night Stand 2005. The line 'it's a shame he didn't succeed in ending his life' regarding Mike Awesome doing a suicide dive when Mike Awesome did in fact commit suicide a year later is just an incredibly sad line to keep in the VOD and one that makes me lose a lot of respect for Joey Styles. Who, by the way, gives The Dudleyz, Taz and all the others that jumped shit absolutely none of that flak. They left for the same reason, they weren't getting paid!

EDIT: I actually just emailed them this, I'll see what they say, haha.

Joey is probably my third or fourth favorite announced ever, but that line made my skin crawl when it origionally aired. Maybe it's because I struggle deeply with mental health issues, but I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Even just to "sell" hatred.

As you said, there were countless others who jumped ship but didn't get any of the flack.

A lot ECW history is super revisionist anyway. All the praise gets dropped on Heyman, but according to countless people, Raven, Shane Douglas, and Tommy Dreamer had just as much to do with the creative direction as Heyman. Hell, Heyman basically dropped ECW into Dreamer's lap at the end

Yeah I think I agree with you on that. I think it's weird that wrestlers talk so often of shady promoters that don't pay their wrestlers and how much of a scumbag move it is, yet Heyman gets a free pass for it despite being the worst of the bunch. It's not like Mike Awesome owed him anything anyway, he was a big star in Japan pre-ECW, he didn't owe Paul E. his career the same way that maybe Taz or The Dudleyz owed him. And even then, those guys made themselves by being talented, the expectation that they should keep working for a bloke that wasn't paying them is just one of those stupid wrestling things I guess.

Obviously crass line, but it's possible they've just missed that over the last few years. I would hope a disappears quickly after your email, or I'll be very dissapointed.

I still haven't had an email back, they're probably ignoring my SJW ass. :p

Fightful, who is usually fairly accurate reports that the decision to break up the Hurt Business came directly from Vince. Heaven forbid a stable actually succeed on the main roster

I don't know why they do it because it just kills the momentum for all of them. Shelton and Cedric know they're back to catering and working Main Event by June, I can well imagine they're angry and frustrated at this nonsensical twist.

<p>I can't believe how much Gargano bores me now. I followed that dude for his entire career and I'm just done with him. He's like a bad parody of himself from his DGUSA days. </p><p> </p><p>

It started way before his heel turn too. Its basically been since DIY broke up. </p><p> </p><p>

Now on Takeover they're recapping the god awful Orton/Fiend garbage and I am reminded just how awful WWE can be</p><p> </p><p>

This was the perfect time to bring back the Demon for Finn. They even teased it with those screen shots or his career and ending on him as the Demon. Missed opportunity. *Edit* probably didn't do it since he lost</p><p> </p><p>

Also, my dislike of Adam Cole and Kyle O'reilly is well documented, but Kyle has won me over. He's a fan of the Misfits and Demolition</p><p> </p><p>

Ladder match was fun and main event was brutal. Rest of the card sucked.</p>

Damn, if you didn't like Legado vs MSK vs GYV I don't know what to say. :D

<p>In my defense, I was far from sober when I posted that.</p><p> </p><p>

In reality, I didn't like the women's tag gauntlet thing, Bray/Orton, or the women's tag title match.</p><p> </p><p>

They should have put the Smackdown tag thing on Mania and the women's tag on SmackDown.</p><p> </p><p>

That said, I've read rumors Joe is cleared to return and might be Lashley's next challenger and I'm all aboard for that.</p>
