If a heel gets heat, that's better than a heel not getting a reaction, period. You know who got tons of heel chants and couldn't have turned babyface even if the rest of the roster did in 1999? Owen Hart. Sometimes a crowd just likes booing someone.

Except what about X Pac's face run in 01? Where he was booed out of the building?

That is usually what I think of when I think X pac heat. Pretty much go away though when its a heel it's not necessarily a bad thing and channel changing heat doesn't exist (because the same people who say it know everything that person does so how could they have changed?)

First he formed X-Factor, then he feuded with babyfaces like Tajiri and guys that could never work heel like Kidman. They kept him heel because his character couldn't easily turn, but that doesn't really prove there was "X-Pac heat." The crowd loved to boo the guy, the same way they loved to boo Owen Hart, or Vickie Guerrero, or Kurt Angle.

But back to Bo Dallas, he makes a good case for how irrelevant "X-Pac heat" is, since he was getting booed for months as a bland babyface, but as a result tweaked his character only slightly so that now he's a guy who thinks he's an all-american babyface but who works against faces and who the crowd loves to boo. On a tiny scale, it's not all that different from when fans really hated Rocky Maivia and didn't want him to be on TV any more, so they gave him "change the channel" heat and of course he faded into obscurity.

The difference is that NXT seems to base their turns solely on crowd reaction. Bo Dallas is clearly a heel (and has been for a while now). He's oblivious to crowd hate which is a classic heel move, he also made his invitational open to everyone except the top babyface (Sami Zayn), another heel move.

I think its pretty much the only role he can play at this point. I've been watching the development companies for a couple years now and he's clearly improving as a wrestler but he just doesn't have the right mannerism to play a serious babyface. Combine that with his inability to look threatening and he doesn't have much to go on as a heel outside of the cowardly act. He's not full coward yet but his current act is working for him. For some reason he seems believable as someone so oblivious <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/rolleyes.png.4b097f4fbbe99ce5bcd5efbc1b773ed6.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

For most of his career he established his characters pretty quickly and got quite nice pops and/or boos when so desired. He wasn't like "ZOMG amazing!" or anything but I think most pros would kill to have his natural charisma and athleticism and ability to connect with the audience.

But whatever, I do see the analogy and it does make sense once i was willing to wrap my head around it given your example.

Once DX broke up his career was pretty much done in my eyes

Prior to that he was always cool in his role but I think being in stables so long ultimately did hurt the back end of his career from a character development standpoint

And of course he was a good worker for the most part as well

My review as I watch the show. This is the first time I have gave an actual review, and going to try not to use spoilers, will leave out the loser/winners for example.

RVD vs ADR: Hardcore rules. Bring out a ladder and they yell for tables. RVD never ceases to amaze me. Rodriguez is awesome, still making a difference for ADR. I like all three of these guys. I just don't know what to say though, the match wasn't impressive (or believable) to me. **

Santino and Khali vs Cesaro and Swagger: Fun match with a test of strength that fell a bit short. **

Paul Heyman guy Curtis Axel vs "What's Up!?!" R Truth. This match was better then the crowd gave it, had the makings to be a much better match, but I don't think that was an intentional thing. Too bad, because I think they could have done much better, plus the title was on the line. I would have done more with this. Both sold solidly, lacked psychology (Santino match had more) though. Not that it didn't have any, but could have been so much more. I keep saying that... these two could have a great fued that could bring them both out more. I wouldn't have said that before watching it. I guess I would say there was some surprise chemistry with these two. **

Brie Bella vs. AJ: Optimistism a must when watching Divas. Again, crowd could have been better, but both did much better then I expected. Doesn't matter that Brie is "the face", AJ has the crowd (best the crowd been thus far, IMO). Surprisinly, this match had tons of ring psychology, something R-Truth could have used. I don't think they needed the interference though, but done well. I'm giving this match a higher mark then expected, because believe it or not, the divas match has been the best thus far. I was going to warm up some pizza, and never made it. **1/2

Rhodes Family vs The Shield: Last match woke the crowd up. I think this could be a great "family" stable here. With Dusty not being the GM of NXT as of now, I am actually hoping for this although WWE is heavy with stables right now. Action packed, a couple of "feel good" moments, and some flashiness from Cody and Dustin. Shield members and Dusty as fun as usual, and the crowd really going for this match. Had a good start and an awesome finish. Crowd definitely alive after this one. ****1/2

Kingston vs Wyatt: I'm going to be totally honest with everyone and say I still have no clue what in the heck the Wyatt family is supposed to represent exactly. Slow start with the crowd, a little more technical wrestling than I was expecting, and I imagine that was how the crowd was feeling as well. Good (and smart) that it started like that, after that last match, that might be MOTN (writing as I watch, so far definitely is). If nothing else, Kofi come off looking pretty good, even got a small "ECW" chant going. Better match then I expected honestly. ***

Proposed by Heyman "Will you be a Heyman Guy?" Ryback vs. "This ends when I go through all "Heyman Guys" to get to Heyman" Punk: Crowd still hot, but don't like Ryback much.... although they reacted to everything he basically did. Alot of ring psychology from everyone in this match. This is why Punk is so great, and why Ryback is still being "shoved" down our throats. Surprising way to win. This match was elevated by all three participants (Heyman, Ryback, and Punk). ****1/2 stars

Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan: Power outage promo was mind boggling to say the least. This segment brought the crowd down, but as soon as DB come out it was all good. Slow start, which is again smart, after last match (and power failure). Good use of Psychology throughout the match. Overall, not as much Psychology as Punk and Ryback, and not as much excitement as Rhodes vs Shield, but more technique then both, more crowd participation (expected). Remember I said I was writing this as I was watching it right? Well, I have to say there was some unexpected events, this story is just getting started it looks like. This match was every bit as entertaining as the other two I rated higher. By all means, if I was rating the segment on crowd participation, storyline, and other "entertainment" aspects, it would be a solid five star match... However, I'm rating it on the match only. ****

General comments and thoughts (inside my mind): Announce team gave more credit then was due in some area's, missed out in other area's, but overall was above average. Still think, especially on PPV, that during the match (and entrances), they should be completely focused on the "NOW", and not the "What happened last week". JBL didn't get good til' the Punk match. That dissapointed me.

Tensai was awesome.

Rodriquez has more ring Psychology then anyone he has managed... He doesn't have a believable look though, and so is better off in a role as manager to stay in focused (upper card event type) storylines. I just feel he would be in a "Santino" type role if not. This way he gets to kind of do both. I feel the same way about Summer Raye sticking with Fandango, for now. I can't help but to think that Summer has an actual chance of being a focus herself if she gets in the ring with the right people.

I was really surprised with the chemistry I felt that Curtis Axle and R Truth had. I was let down that they weren't able (or allowed?) to show it off more. These two are better then 90% of the comments I ever here from people.

Divas match was solid. Made the first two feel like the "filler".

Rhodes Family = Awesome. The Shield couldn't have been in better company.

Kingston for me has again proved to me why I feel like he's the WWE's new "Shelton Benjamin". Benjamin I feel is more athletic, but Kingston has tons more charisma. The important thing is, they are good in the ring, and thus make whomever they are facing look good as well, plus.... Always able to give you a "HOLY SH*T!" moment.

Wyatt doesn't need a "Family".

Ryback is good and funny "What do I do?" at the same time. He oversells against just about everyone though, and I think that hurts him more then people would believe. One small glitch in the match tonight will be unfairly blamed on Ryback. Heyman and Ryback are better together. Too bad Axel can't react like Ryback does.

Whodothunk: I can remembering complaining that the WWE doesn't have any managers anymore. This is not exactly true anymore.

OVERALL SHOW: Well paced event. Cool down periods happened at the start of match's that ended much stronger then they started. One time was at the end of the match, but it would spoil the outcome if I said who gave the promo. Main storyline got even more interesting. I give this PPV an overall surprising score of ***1/2 stars.

The moments where Steph and HHH play straight up heels have been perfect. Some of his perfomances have been good but in a business where the point is to defeat your opponent does he have to cry all the time? Dusty getting knocked out made sense as Big Show is given the choice of being the executioner and ending it softly. However Big Show is the biggest momentum killer in wrestling as a face. As a heel he loses in the end so the face gets to look at least good taking the fight to him such as ADR and Sheamus from recent memory. As a face however Big Show can't play the role to benefit the heel. Being a giant means he never looks weak against his opponent and he wins at the ends since he's a face. Look no further than his feud with Cody Rhodes for the IC title. The only good thing to come out was the look on Big Show's face when he stepped through the table.

I respect him as a wrestler and in a company like ROH where fans are used to champions not having much personality I'm sure he's great but I can't seem him as more of a US Champ in the E. Kind of like Miz he will get his run but then fall back into the shuffle.

I think part of it is that I have seen this "Heel McMahon" thing so many times it's just been done to death, I mean at least in TNA right now they keep it fresh with the heel boss angle but in WWE it's just stale to me.

Ugh, please remove TNA discussion to the TNA thread, or, even better, nowhere.

So, I guess WWE had a special bonus episode of Raw last night, eh? Seriously that show feels like the tread-wateriest thing ever. Thank goodness for the Rhodes family giving the audience something new and some actual storyline progress. They really need to just give D-Bry the title already. He can still lose it at the first hurdle due to heel chicanery or whatever, but months of almost giving him the belt is getting old.

Yeah, I hate that kind of win on a PPV, but I guess I almost expected it so it didn't bother me half as bad as I think it should have. It is following that new formula of making a person want to see RAW to see what the reactions are from it. I threw in a post a while ago, talking about how they were going to change up and almost reverse PPV vs TV Show... Using PPV's to bring you to the TV shows instead of the other way around. Basically, it read that they will still be building to the PPV's but leave us with a desire to watch the TV Show. I figure "cliff hangers" is the only way to do that, and it seems to be the formula they have been using lately.

Rhodes Family was awesome.

Yea I mean you rarely get true definitive finishes on feuds they plan to continue. And I don't think we've seen the last of Bryan and Orton. I don't think the tainted finish was as much about getting people to watch Raw as it was about trying to get people to buy Hell in the Cell, where they can bill Orton v Bryan inside a cell with NO INTERFERENCE!!@!@!@!(lol).

Just throwing this out here this is what I would like to see the card for Mania looking like..

WWE Championship

Randy Orton Vs John Cena- After HHH and Steph continue to bury DB Cena back from injury will face Randy for the WWE Championship and be the savior of WWE

World Championship

Damien Sandow © Vs Cody Rhodes- Sandow cashes in and wins, which gets this rivalry kick started up again leading into Mania.

Undertaker Vs Brock Lesnar?- This is a big grey spot for me I just don't see many options may a Punk rematch?

The Wyatts Vs The Shield- I see this being a great feud if done right, you don't even have to have one make a full face turn to do it.

CM Punk Vs Daniel Bryan- After continuing to lose to Randy and company DB is fed up and joins with Heyman to gain some ground. As this happens Punk is making his way through Axle, Ryback, Heyman which leaves DB as the final Heyman Guy to take out.

Divas Match- Probably with a celeb thrown in.

Ryback Vs Goldberg- They seem to be leaning towards a Goldberg return on social media and their website although I don't know what the chances would of getting back would be, but this would be fueled by Ryback's comments about him and Goldberg's comments about Ryback.
