Yeah they are trying to treat it like they did with the King of the Ring. It is an excuse to prop that person up without putting a belt on them. But even when I book companies like this It just makes sense to me that person should have a future title shot or it feels meaningless. Honestly I know when I watch WWE every time they have a Heel win the King of the ring it is an excuse to give that Heel "The King" gimmick. When a face wins it they do nothing with that person afterwards to capitalize on the momentum.

for heel....face victory meh

yes! and I don't so much mind Jinder Mahal if they plan to keep him with the title for longer than a Bray Wyatt win. Just at this moment if they give him a month long reign or even 2 months, I don't think it would do him any favors for his career. Win the title and back to jobbing and being a circus act, like it hasn't already happened to so many others before.

But it was also the way of it too. They were building a good feud with Mojo and Jinder there, something where Mojo could be given a title shot for the battle royale win but Jinder getting involved and having a match with Mojo and the winner gets the opportunity. They sort of did that with the 6way, but didn't really do it because of the battle royale, just "we need 6 guys stat!"

and Andre the Giant battle royale may not grant championship contentions, but the last few have helped make new stars. Cesaro won the first one and he's been solid, same can be said for Baron Corbin, but Mojo has barely had a match since the battle royale. Not like I'm a huge fan of his but he's just been swept under the rug as of late.

#Jindermania is running wild brother!

This is easily the greatest turn-around for any wrestler I've ever seen. The fact that even WWE mentioned that it was hell freezing over makes it even more amazing.

I sincerely hope Jinder goes on to shock the world and have a long and successful reign with the title, and I mean it.

as long as they can continue to say he pisses clean and/or his new training regime doesn't lead to a wellness violation I agree with the poster above me, he's going to be champ through the India tour.

Honestly credit to Jinder's training regime he looks like a monster....

Randy on the other hand has stopped being interesting to me when he was chasing Seth Rollins for the title. He is just not a great babyface unless they release the chains and let him go past PG 13 in his actions and promos. When he was doing shades of Stone Cold like flipping people the bird and RKOing everyone in sight he didn't feel watered down and actually appeared to enjoy his own character. Randy will tell you himself that he would rather work heel because they seem to give him more freedom to be the douchebag we all know he is.

Yeah, exactly. Randy without an edge is basically just a CAW with a cool finisher. Even worse when you know the edge is THERE and clearly remember what it was like when it was...

He's just such a natural heel douchebag, I don't think he'll ever feel believable as anything but. He at least needs to be wild and cocky.

Jinder on the other hand? I'm not hating it. I'm one of those who'll almost always favour those a little lower down the card, but he's turning into a believable main event heel. If they dropped the silly racist thing (who has a problem with people from India, really?!) and let him just be a dastardly ripped dude with bump-taking minions, I'd say he'd be doing just peachy. There've been many, MANY worse champions than Jinder, with a worse look to boot.

World is so different, one country is banning/ making life hard for all the immigrants and other country(Ireland) just celebrated a person who is a man of colour and gay as their PM.

Not trying to hijack the thread, my point was if somebody else( Crews or Zayn, ) would have received this ' I earned my title match and now I am being abused/hindered because of my minority' face push instead of Jinder and like others stated used Orton as heel imagine how many eyeballs WWE would have attracted with this angle with right marketing. Their PR is already best. This was a big wasted opportunity. This could have been a big story with a good payoff similar to Bryan and they could have created a new superstar. Just a thought.

They could have put a secondary title on Jinder and it could have had same impact in India now in hindsight.

I am sure I could have explained it better. English is not my first language so try to understand please.

After watching BOTSJ, I was trying to imagine cruiserweight division and 205 with same freedom and development.Boy that could have been awesome. Another wasted opportunity i guess.

<p>thank goodness I'm not watching it live, so far sounds just terrible. I mean really the mixed tag match went longer than Bliss/Bayley. No Goldust/R-Truth(so I guess the build up could be for Great Balls of Fire?)</p><p> </p><p>

haha notice how they seemed reluctant to even call the PPV by that name? I know they have been focusing on Extreme Rules, but even when SD was about a month or two away from Backlash they were promoting it. But now that this one is over, we get a whole month of "NEXT SUNDAY..AT GREAT BALLS OF FIRE.. I WILL BURRRRRRN YOU!"</p>

<p><strong>Extreme Rules:</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Crews vs Kalisto</strong> - Solid match. I like Titus as an inept manager.</p><p>

<strong>Miz vs Ambrose</strong> - Solid match.</p><p>

<strong>Dar & Fox vs Swann & Sasha</strong> - OK match. The best part was Sasha taking out Dar.</p><p>

<strong>Bayley vs Bliss</strong> - Match started off fine... and then it just ended. Not even 10 minutes long. No trickery or post-match beatdown from Bliss. Disappointing.</p><p>

<strong>Shesaro vs Hardyz</strong> - Solid match. Not a fan of the steel cage (psychology be damned) but it's way more fun with tag teams.</p><p>

<strong>Aries vs Neville</strong> - MOTN from 2 of the best wrestlers in the company. With Neville retaining I'd like to see an underdog like Ali get the rub (after Tozawa gets a title shot).</p><p>

<strong>Fatal 5-Way</strong> - Great match. Lesnar vs Joe should be fun.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Verdict:</strong> Average PPV. Not extreme enough.</p>

<p>I watched it live and it was great (minus Bayley's burial)</p><p> </p><p>

Every match, minus the Women's Title match, was pretty good. Even Kalisto vs Apollo was good in the pre show.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm pretty upset at the way Bayley was treated in this feud with Alexa Bliss though. She got beat down in the weeks before the PPV, and then didn't get her revenge at the PPV. Just took a bunch of cane shots and laid down for 3.</p><p> </p><p>

And who saw Joe's win coming? I guess a hoss battle will be entertaining. Not a chance they put the belt on Joe though, Brock is going to take him to Suplex City.</p>

He was the only one who made sense. Bray's damaged goods, Seth and Finn aren't gonna be in a one off program with Brock. Reigns isn't gonna take on Brock at a minor ppv. Joe's offense can look damaging against Brock and you can buy that he <em>could</em> beat Lesnar. Plus, him losing to Brock doesn't damage him long term.</p>

Between the universally panned This is Your Life segment and the five minute matchup they had; this feud did them no favors.</p><p> </p><p> I think what needs to happen to Bayley now is that she needs to go on a 'road to redemption' esque storyline, have her come out saying that saying what happened at Extreme Rules was not the real her and that she lost something on her way to the WWE and have her go on a mission to find said thing.</p><p> </p><p> Every other match was really good though. I did not see Samoa Joe coming from a mile. It felt way to early to pull this off, but i'm glad that they did. A matchup like this sounds amazing and hopefully it gets built up as a battle between two hosses.</p><p> </p><p> Overall, this was a great show. (minus the women's title match) I'd say this takes Elimination Chamber's place as the best PPV of 2017 for WWE for me.</p>

What the heck happened to Bayley? First she was squashed and she was ignored on Raw! Even during the womens match, Cole was like "Alexa deserves this by the way she treated Nia, Dana, Mickey!" They were all on screen but he also said Sasha, who wasnt! No mention of Bayley, not even her coming out to throw Alexa back in the ring to get whooped by Nia. Would have been nice to see her get some retribution after the loss at the PPV.

<p>WWE have turned Bayley into a sad, kicked puppy, but it was already too late before Bliss ate her whole last weekend. Their writing isn't solid or subtle enough to have turned it around - she's just not a personality they've ever been able to really handle. Yeah, she got buried, but after a godawful week on RAW it would've buried BOTH women to play out any other result...</p><p> </p><p>

Alexa's a character they CAN (usually) write for, and she's more likely to take their ball and run with it down the line. She can be a star NOW. Bayley needs to be allowed to step back and take her time; she's got the talent in spades, just either needs to adjust to WWE or see them adjust to her.</p><p> </p><p>

That said, show was fine, but I'm getting bored of WWE again... it's a shame because they're SO CLOSE to having everything they need to entertain me. So many fumbled balls, though! And I'm behind on Lucha Underground, which is a thousand times more consistent and enjoyable. Sorry, Vince!</p>

No trickery or post-match beatdown from Bliss. Disappointing.

No trickery? She invited her to go for the stick early, and they got her from behind. A devious scheme. She fooled her good! /fake_enthousiasm/

Yeah, they made her look side a sad little girl. The only thing missing was Y2J instigating a "stupid idiot" chant.

Watched the event from the background but the main event and the cage match seemed to be good. And Aries. Like duh.

I wonder if Shane first telling Lana she had to earn her shot and in a bit of a condescending way(as if Carmella or Tamina really earned anything over the last several months while the others have at least been involved in actual matches and feuds) sets up any Rusev confrontation with Shane at some point? Maybe a Rusev/Shane match at Summerslam, since Rusev's been ignored and left off SD and even had his championship pursuit thrown out when Jinder won the title.

Now I'm wondering how the match will go down. I don't think Becky needs the win, as she is over enough to get a title opportunity without the briefcase. Charlotte and Nattie I don't think would win, but it would be a match that would push the tension between the family legacy girls to a match at Summerslam. I don't think Tamina is ready for a big win like it, so I'm probably gonna go with Carmella as the winner, I can see her winning it and the title as a heel(and cashes it in in traditional cash-in heel fashion) as I think they can work in some fun things with Carmella and James Ellsworth with her as a champ.

  • 2 weeks later...

<p>Anybody following the Russo-Cornette feud on youtube, or are you just tired of it? Russo cut an "apologize"-promo that was so bad it made me appreciate current-day WWE again.</p><p> </p><p>

One of the commenters had it good: "pause filled script reading about piss filled ass pimples". </p><p> </p><p>

I'm not a mark who's a huge Cornette fan. I barely know both guys, but after reading up on some history, it is pretty damn clear to me that Russo either is one of the most clueless people to ever grace the wrestling business, or just doesn't give a damn about it. The concept of speeching seems so foreign to him - talking about different kinds of fruit Jim can eat while "relaxing" after hearing this - that you cringe at the knowledge that this guy has called the shots for as long as he did. There's politics, and there's just irrationality.</p>
