The Official TNA / Impact / GFW Discussion Thread

TNA Knockout Tara, real name Lisa Marie Varon, has posted the following on her Twitter account: "I injured my elbow on pre-match warmup. Sorry to all the fans in Jersey. Had to go to ER. I will post pics tomorrow. Totally disgusting"

"Second, when I was younger, I was a sun worshipper. WORSHIPPER. I grew up in the desert of Southern California, and I would lay out for hours on end. Even recently, I would tan indoors, because I think it makes me look leaner on TV. Well, that has all caught up to me. I went to the dermatologist because I had a bump on my hip. It turned out to be nothing. But the doctor noticed a mole near my collar bone that didn't look quite right. He cut it off and tested it, and it turned out to be Basal Cell Carcinoma. That is the most common form of skin cancer. He cut most of it off, and next week, they are going to cut out the surrounding tissue and I should be 100% It's it super minor, because they caught it early. So that some of my MySpace friends can possibly catch it early also, here is a link on what to look for... http://www.wikihow.com/Check-for-Skin-Cancer. Also, always wear sun block for extended periods outdoors."

My 2nd 'Okay' for the night.... (While watching TNA)...

Seriously...

TNA is a boat-full of absolute insanity; and not in the good way. Is this how they plan on stick around? Putting together shows, storylines, pairings, promos, like this? THIS is their approach?

They have SO MUCH talent and yet... wow. I find myself watching this show with my hand almost always on the remote; ready to turn.

I wish, not saying that I'm an amazing booker by any means (my TEW games prove that I am not from a grade-wise); however, I would love to theoretically take over TNA and start them off fresh.... Take away all of the crap and get down to a show that can be interesting to watch.

I get that they're trying to take wrestling at a new view (utilizing a unique look that sets them apart from the WWE), and for that I say they are doing a great job; however, from an actual product standpoint (characters, alliances, storylines, etc)... They continue to drop the ball week in and week out.

It's so sad to see the Wrestling industry as it is now.

I would call it a 'shell' of it's former self but I don't think there is even a hint of the 'shell' left (between WWE and TNA).

Impact IMO was weak, I can only echo the awkward promo feelings of the Flair Foley promo. I think TNA using cages on Impact just devalues them and the one 5 v 5 at BFG and Abyss 'breaking out of the cage door was very bad, it was clear he just pulled it up from it's hinges, in fact anything Abyss does is poor for me and he cannot take a kick (even if he's supposed to be no selling. A major gripe I have is the repetetivness of angles, theres no diversity they all seem the same, attack and save, 'it feels like a someones playing TEW and going X, Y, Z work in an attack and save angles as they are over let's book it'. Also Kurt Angle has what do with Abyss' 'They' angle nevermind. Beautiful People vs Beautiful People overuse of the word 'bitch' just because there allowed to say it is tedious.

That said I love how Flair interrupts everyone and appears off-script and I don't mean that in a 'well done TNA way' at all. Also Shannon Moore is becoming cooler and cooler for me, I like his in ring work alot, and BK is cool, but I've always liked Londrick.

Overall I feel like I just wasted an hour and a half on this, I'm disappointed.

I've got a funny feeling that TNA is playing a new game with wrestling fans. I don't really know why, but I have a hunch that they've made headlines with social media interaction that doesn't favor TNA, i.e. Nash says he's done, just to fool the fans.

Might be totally wrong, but I just have a hunch about this.

9/30 iMPACT Ratings

Source: PWTorch

TNA Impact scored a 1.20 rating last night, up from a 1.01 rating the previous week. We'll have a lot more details in follow-up reports today, as we have the quarter-hour ratings in advance today.

Ratings Highlights

Overall: 1.20 rating

First Hour: 1.23 rating

Second Hour: 1.16 rating

Quarter-hour peak: 1.27 in Q3 for Foley-Flair.

Quarter-hour low: 1.08 in Q8 for steel cage main event.

======Quarter Breakdowns========

First Hour Break Down

Impact opened with an above-average 1.25 rating in Q1, with help from the "Gangland" show as a strong lead-in. The segment featured Kurt Angle's show-opening promo and involvement with Abyss setting up the TV main event, which only scored a 1.08 rating in Q8.

Impact declined to a 1.18 rating in Q2 for Beer Money vs. Tommy Dreamer & Rhino and the beginning of the Flair-Foley promo. It was the only first hour segment below the show's average.

Flair-Foley continued into Q3, which scored the peak rating of the show with a 1.27 rating. Impact declined slightly to a 1.23 rating in Q4 for Ink, Inc. vs. Generation Me and backstage promos.

Second Hour Break Down

The second hour started strong with a 1.25 rating in Q5, which was the high point for the second hour. The segment featured Samoa Joe vs. Mr. Anderson as the "top of the second hour" TV main event.

From there, Impact began a steady decline. Q6 scored a 1.21 rating for the lengthy promo from Kevin Nash, Sting, and The Pope followed by the Knockouts division's backstage segment talking over each other.

That segment led to a 1.10 rating in Q7 for A.J. Styles vs. Brian Kendrick and Rob Van Dam's on-location promo talking about the live Impact and Bound for Glory PPV.

Impact then declined to a show-low 1.08 rating in Q8 for the first half of the Angle vs. Abyss steel cage main event.

=======Viewership Numbers======

Impact averaged 1.52 million viewers over the course of the show, which was up nearly 17 percent compared to last week. It was the most viewers since August 12.

========Demographic=========

-- Looking at the demographic numbers, the increases are consistent with Impact's overall rating being the highest since early August.

Impact scored a 0.89 rating among males 18-49, which was up from a 0.75 last week. Also, Impact scored a 0.59 rating among adults 18-49, which was the highest since early august.

Despite the strong demographic ratings, Impact was still out-rated by its lead-in show at 8:00 p.m. EST on Spike, as well as other cable TV programs on Thursday night.

Spike's "Gangland" show at 8:00 p.m. EST scored a 0.76 rating among males 18-34, compared to a 0.70 rating for Impact.

========Reaction==========

-- As we reported earlier today, the last 30 minutes of the Impact broadcast scored the lowest quarter-hour ratings of the show, declining well below the show's average.

It appeared to affect Reaction, as TNA's new one-hour show averaged 683,000 viewers, which was only up slightly from last week's 638,000 viewers despite Impact's strong viewership increase.

Last night's Reaction was the second least-watched episode following last week's show. The series has averaged 827,300 viewers through seven weeks.

As cool a concept as this 10-10-10 thing is... I'm a wee little bit split on it. Half the time when I hear it, I think of long distance phone call thingee commercials, (10-10-220 and the like), and the other half, I'm reminded of a certain canine cop for some reason.

Dunno what it is.

While Impact was not the strongest in recent memory, I dont think it was as bad as some people are saying. Sure the Foley / Flair promo was over the top and just strange, but it fits both of them. These are the over the top, larger than life personalities that Hogan was talking about when he first came to TNA. While I dont think anybody will turn in to Impact next week just to see Foley and Flair go head to head (despite what Tenay said), I think it will be a strong addition to an already exciting Impact. Both guys, while well past there prime, are still entertaining to watch. I'm excited to see what this whole 10-10-10 thing is and the whole "Veil Will Be Lifted" by Sting / Nash / Pope is intriguing as well.

I loved Impact actually and I think the Flair/Foley promo was my favorite along with the Pope/Nash/Sting promo and Pope on commentary is gold. On the ratings its good to see them make their wayup right before BFG as they have a really good card in place thatpeople would most likly buy. Only thing I didnt like wa on ReAction when I saw Vince Russo WTF wa he doing on my TV this probaly means we will be seeing more of him.

Wow, after reading about how "awful" Impact was this week, I was expecting something bad. It was a good show I thought. The cage match was pretty fun. I didn't like the no contest finish, but the match itself was good.

GenMe vs Ink Inc was solid. As was Dreamer and Rhino vs Beer Money.

Plus, Nash, Sting, AND Pope all got mic time...I think I was in heaven.

Riddle me this, riddle me that, whose the man with the big black bat?

To be fair Jaysin you're one of the biggest TNA fans on the board so you're going to enjoy a lot more of what they do than say someone who doesn't go to their house shows and buy their VIP passes.

For instance Sting, Pope and Nash on the mic are ok but not "heaven" for me. I didn't watch the show and I won't be watching it until they forget about ECW again. So I can't comment ON the show but I'm just saying what "not that bad" to you may be about two or three levels below that for a regular fan.

<p>the big flaw with the ev2 idea was that it was hoped it would bring old ecw fans to watch impact.. big problem with was is that the fans how packed the old ecw arena aint going to tune it to watch the guyd they loved become nothing more then jobbers to fortune...</p><p> </p><p>

btw way i wasnt counting rvd. but then he dosnt appear to be a key part of ev2 as he is doing his own thing with abyss then at some point soon will most likely face off with the world champ...</p>

<p>Thing is the survey they did was apparently done in Pennsylvania/Philadelphia and ECW came up as something that was still relevant.</p><p> </p><p>

Anyhoo I really hope "They" are some TNA "Originals" That way they could combine some of the hopefully new fans they made this year with returning old fans.</p>

<p>Yes but Shane is even worse, at least the last time I saw him Slammiversary 2009. Mick at that same ppv wasn't as bad. Dreamer, Raven and Richards can carry the EV2 mic work imho.</p><p> </p><p>

BTW I understand <span style="text-decoration:underline;">kinda</span> the storyline with Kendrick aligning himself with EV2, and the reasoning behind it, but they didn't need him for the 5th spot when he first aligned with them as Raven was still available.</p>
