Five Star Blog Splash Results - 5SSW , May 28th, 2009 Tokyo, Japan

The Lake Blue Arena saw DEVIL Karube complete her transformation from popular babyface to fiendish demon by defeating Kit Hatoyama in the finals of the tournament to crown a new Five Star World Champion. The title was declared vacant after an injury forced Crusher Ichihara to retire, and former champions Sensational Ogiwara and Thunder Hike had been the favorites to advance. But DEVIL Karube’s new violent edge saw her fight past Hike in a bloody match. Hatoyama’s flashy high flying had surprised Ogiwara in the other semi-final. The finals was equally closely contested, DEVIL’s ruthless aggression matched against Hatoyama’s graceful flying. But the difference was in DEVIL’s fearlessness, attacking every moment of the match before pining Hatoyama after nearly 20 minutes. After the match Crusher Ichihara, noticeably limping, passed the belt on to DEVIL Karube personally.

After the match DEVIL Karube had a lot to say:

“The reason why 5SSW has never grown as big as Burning Hammer and PGHW is stagnation. Crusher Ishihara first won the 5SSW World Title in 1990. Sensational Ogiwara in 1994. Who were the two 5SSW Champions last year? Crusher Ishihara and Sensational Ogiwara! 5SSW has become safe and sterile. A place where people could enjoy the same things over and over without fear of being challenged. Ogiwara and Hike’s perfect but soulness technique, Hatoyama’s effortless and emotionless flying. Even Crusher Ishihara lacked the raw edge of emotion she had 20 years ago. I realized I was falling into the same trap, I finally found the fury and darkness in my soul. Now I am the true spirit of 5SSW.”

Kit Hatoyama now has some serious soul searching to do. After four failed tries at the 5SSW World Title and three failed finals for the Five Star Grand Prix she has proven she has the skill to be the best, but my lack the spirit and heart of a champion. After the match she promised she would not settle for being an Eternal Ozeki but would keep fighting.

The semi final match saw four former 5SSW Champions square off,Sensational Ogiwara and Thunder Hike’s feud with June Butler raging through the 5SSW tournament. Butler recuited in “Miss 5SSW” Saori Nakadan to replaced the retired Crusher but it wasn’t enough. Sensational Thunder defeated the ad hoc team in convincing fashion, for the moment putting an end to their feud. June Butler admitted she nad Nakadan didn’t have enough time training together to face an elite team like Ogiwara and Hike, but she was going to take the time between tours to regroup and try to reform Destruction Inc.

Sensational Ogiwara seemed ready to move on as well, challenging DEVIL Karube: “I’ve been watching Umeko Karube change match by match over this tournament. Like she sees Crusher retired and feels this is her chance to make something of herself. The lust for power taking control until now she’s DEVIL. But she doesn’t really understand the 5SSW. It’s soul was formed a couple of decades ago by Nyoko Toshtala, Namiyo Muro, Crusher Ichihara, Thunder and myself. Honor, courage, fighting spirit. I’m going to demand Kagawa-san give me the first chance at DEVIL Karube. I’ve trained her since she was 18. But she clearly still has a lot to learn.”

“Enhanced Luck Soldier” Raku Makuda defended her All-Asian Championship against Kiko Sakakibara. The two of them matched move for move as Bubblegum Kiko put up a spirited challenge. But Raku’s intensity and championship experience saw her through, allowing her to avoid Kiko’s dangerous Diving Senton before she hit her own Swanton Bomb for the pin.

Search & Destroy lived up to their name, rampaging over Joanne Rodriguez and Otsune Tsumura for their V3 5SSW Tag Team Title defense. Joanne Rodriguez continued her feud with Huntress Makiko, started when Makiko broke J-Ro’s arm sev eral months ago. The two both hit some hot moves but former tag champion Otsune was again overpowered by Temko’s martial brawling. After the match Rodriguez promised she wasn’t done with Search & Destroy, while the Champions seemed willing to beat up J-Ro as often as they need to.

Rising stars Megumi Nakajima and Yuma Maruya defeated Tomoko Nagatsuka and Shiori Jippensha in a disappointing match. Nakajima’s Super Rookie push continues and Yuma looks like a future star as well. But “Enlightened Rebel” Shiori Jippensha didn’t work smoothly with Nagatsuka at all. The two even attacking each other at one point before order could be restored and the match continued. Nakajima picked up the win with her Straightjacket Suplex and after the match Tomoko Nagatsuka arugued with Jippensha.

The Missouri Brawlers finished their first tour teaming with a victory in the opening match of the night. The bigger, stronger gaijin team were simply to much for the speed of Chitose Ariwara and Rei Chikanatsu, though the smaller girls put up a good fight.

MIKO Notes: First, blame FINisher for this diary. I’d been thinking about doing one, but his excellent Jobber’s Guide really got me thinking about how to put the diary together and things just rolled from there.

New diary and new writer for this so I’m likely to break the rule about using a consistent style and experiment to see what ends up working best for me.

<p><span style="color:#4B0082;"><strong>Press Conference - June 5th, 2008</strong></span></p><p>

5SSW Owner and President Sakurako Kagawa announced the dates and locations for Five Star’s next big Tour at a press conference today. Happy Summer Adventure 2008 will open in the Hitachi Pond Central Gymnasium and travel through the Kanto region before wrapping up on July 26th at the Lake Blue Arena. Also present at the press conference were Sensation Ogiwara and DEVIL Karube to sign the contact for their title match this tour. Ogiwara signed quickly, promising that she would restore honor and respect to the world famous Blue Belt after it’s been tainted by DEVIL. DEVIL was surprisingly mild, simply promising to do her best, her dark sunglasses hiding her eyes so she never even seemed to look at Ogiwara. </p><p> </p><p>

The excitement started when Ogiwara went to leave, only to be ambushed by a taser wielding Saori Nakadan. The crackling electric jolt stunned Ogiwara, allowing Ikuko Temko to jump in, the brutal assault leaving Ogiwara on the carpet, blood streaming down her face. With all attention on the assault DEVIL had plenty of time to remove her glasses and move over to the mic, clearing her throat.</p><p>

“I guess I did forget one thing. This is a new 5SSW. Crusher Ichihara had the right idea with Destruction Inc. They were the most dangerous tag team of the 20th century. But it was just two people. That was her problem. She thought small. Moudoku-tai (Deadly Poison Group) will be the biggest, more destructive force ever seen in pro wrestling. Saori and Ikuko are just the beginning. I’ll reveal the full extent of my plans soon enough.”</p><p>

Then DEVIL Karube left with her two new friends, pausing only to carefully step over Ogiwara so she didn’t get any blood on her pants.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;"><strong>Five Star Blog Splash Report – June 8th, 2009</strong></span></p><p>

There will evidently be some new faces for 5SSW’s Happy Summer Adventure tour. North of the Border Wrestling has agreed to Amber Allen spending a few tours in Japan training. 5SSW officials are said to be excited about her potential after getting her start training in the famous House of Stone. Also joining from NOTBW is Tamara McFly, famous for her 30 minute draw with Sensational Ogiwara. Sean who? </p><p> </p><p>

5SSW will also be debuting two rookies. Etsuko Ariyoshi is a very promising technical wrestler who’s been training at the 5SSW Dojo for the past year. Catch wrestling master Thunder Hike is said to be very impressed by Ariyoshi’s developing mat skills and there is some talk she could be pushed as the next super rookie. Fighting Angel 15 (Ichigo) is a more mysterious case. She’s a masked wrestler with apparently a muy thai background as well as broader MMA skills. But little else is known about her except she’s considered more flashy and outgoing than the super serious Ariyoshi.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

July – 2008 – Happy Summer Adventure 2008 Announced Matches:

7/1 - Hitachi Pond Central Gymnasium

1. Etsuko Ariyoshi & Ichigo v. Sensational Thunder (Sensatonal Ogiwara & Thunder Hike)

Rookie team takes the loss.

2. Amber Allen & Tamara McFly v. Raku Makuda & Tomoko Nagatsuka

Gaijin don't take the win over the team with a champ in it.

3. Lovely Angels (Joanne Rodriguez & Yumi Maruya) v. Connie Morris & Gorgon

J-Ro and Yumi both appear to be going places.

4. June Butler v. Shiori Jippensha

Established Veteran takes a win, although with DEVIL Karube's tirade against the old guard I can see a turn in her future.

5. Chitose Ariwara & Rei Chikanatsu v. Seek & Destroy (Huntress Makiko & Ikuko Temko)

Champs take a win until they meet a team worthy of a title shot.

6. Kit Hatoyama v. Otsune Tsumura

Kit is just more over and a better all around worker but I see a good performance out of Otsune and a decent rating for this match.

7. MeguKiko (Megumi Nakajima & Kiko Sakakibara) v. Moudoku-Tai (DEVIL Karube & Saori Nakadan)

New Champ, New Stable, New Attitude=Win

I like this. Rem's really the only other women's connoisseur who does diaries I can't remember a 5SSW diary from him. Only one I recall was mine from '07 so I've got a soft spot for the company and I wish you well with them.

1. Etsuko Ariyoshi & Ichigo v. Sensational Thunder</p><p>

Background: Umeko Karube grew up idolizing Sensational Ogiwara and Thunder Hike and dreaming of getting into joshi puroresu just like them. She was a natural athlete, training in judo as well as being an avid skier and swimmer. When 5SSW held try outs in 2003 she jumped at the chance, beating out 200 other girls for the chance to train at the 5SSW Dojo. Initially Umeko was one of several new faces, all high flying wrestlers but she broke from the mold when she brutally assaulted her partner Yuma Maruya after a particularly disappointing match. When she appeared for the next tour she had become DEVIL Karube, adding a new spiteful edge to her tactics. Her timing was perfect. When Crusher Ichinhara was forced to retire, DEVIL rode her blood stained wave of momentum to victory in the 5SSW World Title Tournament to claim her first title.

Background: Seiko Ogiwara broke into wrestling by impressing at one of 5SSW’s notoriously rigorous try outs. Like so many prospective young wrestlers, she had a back ground in judo but had excelled in track and field. She got off to a slow start though, just a face in the crowd for several years while she watched, studied and learned everything she could from anyone who’s teach her. This all culminated in her April 2nd 1993 challenge for the 5SSW World Title. Though she lost to Crusher Ichihara, the match was rated best of the year, starting Sensational Ogiwara on the road to becoming the greatest joshi puroresura in history. Her feud with Crusher Ichihara raged for over 15 years, defining the 5SSW for many fans. Over that time she’s won the 5SSW World Title 7 times, the Tag titles 2 times while winning acclaim as one of the most graceful and technically flawless wrestlers in the world, male or female.

July 2005 (Crusher Ichihara & June Butler) to September 2005 (Crusher Ichihara & June Butler)

Background: Tara Hike is the only one of the Magic Three to not train at the 5SSW Dojo. While Ichihara and Ogiwara are 5SSW trueborns, the half Japanese half American Hike spent her time traveling. Training at the House of Stone in Canada as well as spending some time working and training in Europe. Once she joined 5SSW Hike intergrated the Japanese style into her own Catch style to form a unique hybrid she calls her Thunder System. Her ongoing friendship/rivalry with Sensational Ogiwara has been a part of 5SSW almost since the promotion began. Her feud with June Butler goes back almost as far, Hike having met Butler while she was wrestling in Canada. Tara was responsible for June being hired by 5SSW and she was repaid by her friend turning on her and joining the villainous Crusher.

Background: June Butler’s rugged style was formed while working the small town circuits in Canada. 15 wrestles crammed into a couple of vans traveling over snow covered roads and iced over lakes to wrestle for small towns and reservations. June perfected her brawling for a couple of years in that frozen hell before her old friend Tarta Hika invited her to Japan. There she met up with kindred spirit Crusher Ichihara and the rest is history. The two formed the most destructive tag team in wrestling history, dominating the 5SSW tag titles, while winning the 5SSW World title 8 times between them. But now with her old partner retired, June will need to find a new path.

5 Star Supreme Wrestling World Championship (1)

November 2005 (Crusher Ichihara) to January 2006 (Sensational Ogiwara)

Background: As dominant as the Magic Three have been in 5SSW history, it’s easy to forget Miss 5SSW Saori Nakadan. But Nakadan is the only wrestler to hold all three 5SSW titles, defeating Ogiwara for the world Title, Destruction Inc for the tag titles, and wily Kiko Sakakibara for the All-Asian title. Unlike most other wrestlers, Saori didn’t train in any fighting arts. In school she was into track and field and spent some time training in dancing as well. But when a friend went to a 5SSW try out she tagged along. Her friend was rejected but Nakadan’s endurance and determination to excel impressed and she began training at the Five Star Dojo. Over her 12 years of wrestling Nakadan scored more victories over the Magic Three than any other wrestler in 5SSW, her talent for scoring upsets making her dangerous against anyone at anytime.

MIKO Notes: Wow, thanks for all the replies. I had to do some searching to find Rem=Remianen, though I’ve not found his 5 Star diary yet. 5SSW is one of the interesting promotions because it starts off with some great main eventers, all up there in age and close to retirement. I’m curious to see what 5SSW looks like in 2010.

Sorry my point was he like women's wrestling but has never doen a 5SSW diary to my knowledge. He usually builds his own feds. I am the only other person (to my knowledge) to start a 5SSW diary and I only did it in TEW '07.

<span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#4B0082;">5SSW Happy Summer Adventure in Hitachi 2008</span></strong></span></p><p> </p><p>

The sold out Hitachi Pond Central Gymnasium welcomes 5 Star Supreme wrestling. The first card since DEVIL Karube proclaimed a new era in 5SSW and formed her Moudoku-tai (Deadly Poison Unit). </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">1. Etsuko Ariyoshi & Ichigo v. Sensational Thunder (Sensational Ogiwara & Thunder Hike)</span></p><p>

The first match of the evening featured the debuts of two new wrestlers to 5SSW. Thunder Hike’s kohai Etsuko Ariyoshi, looking very serious in plain black, teaming with the masked Fighting Angel 15 (Ichigo), who was much more outgoing with the fans while jogging to the ring. Sensational Thunder looked pretty relaxed as well, letting the rookies get in more offense than is usual for debut matches. Ichigo showed some good kicks while Ariyoshi showed how seriously her Thunder System training had been by working some mat sequences with Thunder Hike, the two of them looking very good together. Then the former World Champs took over, punishing the rookies before Ogiwara finished it by pinning Ichigo with the Sensational Stunner. (C+)</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">2. Amber Allen , Tamara McFly v. Raku Makuda, Tomoko Nagatsuka </span></p><p>

All-Asian Champion Raku Makuda and her partner Tomoko Nagatsuka welcomed North of the Border wrestlers Tamara McFly and Amber Allen to 5SSW with an all out blitzkrieg of hot moves and fast action. The two vicious heels outbrawling the gaijin team, with Amber taking quite a beating. Tamara McFly reminded viewers how she’d been able to stand up to Sensational Ogiwara, taking down Makuda at will and twice seeming to have her pinned before Nagatsuka made the save. “Enhanced Luck Soldier” Raku finished the match with a Fortune’s Fall (Swanton Bomb) on Amber for the pin, then got in McFly’s face before the two were separated. (D)</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">3. Connie Morris, Gorgon v. Lovely Angels (Joanne Rodriguez, Yuma Maruya)</span> </p><p>

The next match saw Joanne Rodriguez and Yuma Maruya form a new tag team called The Lovely Angels. Putting the two cutest girls in 5SSW against the brutal Missouri Brawlers is hardly surprising. And the match really was brutal. J-Ro and Yuma did their best, but Gorgon wasn’t putting in her best effort and Connie Morris wasn’t enough to carry her team’s side on her own. So after some low grade brawling Rodriguez hit the J-Rocker on Morris for a merciful finish. (E)</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">4. June Butler v. Shiori Jippensha</span></p><p>

“Enlightened Rebel” Shiori Jippensha was out first for the next match, the 20 year old facing off with the almost twice her age June Butler. Butler’s notorious reputation as a heel working against her as the ref checked her for foreign objects a second time at Shiori’s insistence, allowing Shiori to jump in with an ambush. Jippansha was not afraid to brawl with Butler, trading stiff strikes and showing her fighting spirit by standing up to almost everything June could dish out. But a sheerdrop brainbuster followed by two lariats was enough to put Jippensha away. After the match June praised Jippansha’s courage and deviousness. (D)</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">5. Chitose Ariwara, Rei Chikanatsu v. Seek & Destroy (Huntress Makiko, Ikuko Temko)</span></p><p>

Moudoku-tai makes their first appearance on the card as Seek & Destroy (Huntress Makiko and Ikuko Temko) make their way to the ring in green and white Deadly Poison Unit t-shirts, accompanied by Saori Nakadan. The 5SSW World Tag Team Champions face off with Chitose Ariwara and Rei Chikanatsu, two younger girls barely above the young lion stage. The match itself is a massacre, Huntress showing off her full range of suplexes while Temko keeps it simple, flurries of brutally stiff kicks to the legs, body and face. Saori Nakadan helps out now and then to hold one of the younger girls in place for a Seek & Destroy move. Chitose Ariwara ducks one double team, letting Temko hit Saori with a Yakuza Kick, then getting in a brief flurry of offense before Huntress Makiko finishes her off with Rolling German Suplexes to set up the Makiko Straightjacket Submission. (D-)</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">6. Kit Hatoyama v. Otsune Tsumura </span></p><p>

The second to last bout of the night featured perennial world title contender Kit Hatoyama against former 5SSW World Tag Team Champion Otsune Tsumura. “White Lightning” against “High Energy”. And only the second match of the night so far to start with a respectful handshake. Tsumura blazing speed and hyperactive energy got her off to a good start, including the traditional flurry of dropkicks from all angles. Hatoyama’s experience allows her to time Tsumura’s rushes, countering with martial kicks to set up her own more graceful high flying. They trade dives outside the ring but once the action is back inside the ring Kit takes over, a series of kicks setting up the Hatoyama Driver for the pin. (D)</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">7. MeguKiko (Megumi Nakajima, Kiko Sakakibara) v. DEVIL Karube, Saori Nakadan</span></p><p>

The main event featured the debut of DEVIL Karube as 5SSW World Champion, teaming with former champion Saori Nakadan (accompanied by Moudoku-tai teammate Ikuko Temko) against the new team of Kiko Sakakibara and Megumi Nakajima. The match was very chaotic, neither team showed much teamwork so it was a hard hitting series of one on one action with Ikuko Temko also getting involved from time to time to help out her friends. Megumi was very fired up, hitting stiff forearms and then roll ups on DEVIL, Nakadan and even Temko. DEVIL and Nakadan had the harder hitting moves though, and Ikuko’s interference helps make sure there is no chance of stealing a flash win. “Bubble Gum” Kiko brought the more refined offence for her team, backbreakers and a smooth Diving Senton that got a near fall on Nakadan. An attempted powerbomb on DEVIL was countered into a DEVIL Clutch (Twisting Rana into pin)followed by a DEVILsault (Moonsault Doublestomp) for the pin. (D+)</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

I will say I'm sticking pretty close to my personal idea of puroresu. Rookies will lose to start, though I've noticed Ariyoshi climbs up pretty fast anyway. Old wrestlers who have given alot of time to the company and been trusted with World titles will get a suitable amount of respect. Which doesn't mean things won't change, just that I'll phase them in instead of doing it all at once. ^-^</p>

<p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="color:#4B0082;">Hitachi July 1st, 2008 - After the Matches</span></span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/1926/kikosakakibaraalt1.jpg</span></p><p>

Kiko Sakakibara spoke to the press after the match against Moudoku-tai. She said that despite her and Megumi Nakajima losing, she was pretty happy with the match. She had wanted to find if she and Megumi could work together as a top rank team and the only way to be sure was to challenge top competition. Kiko believes Nakajima is starting to live up to her promise from when she was a rookie and is now confident to two of them together will be a top ranked team. </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/6792/thunderhikealt1.jpg</span></p><p>

Thunder Hike was also very pleased. She talked about how important she and Sensational Ogiwara felt it was to develop younger wrestlers. She admitted she’s been feeling her age lately, so she’s been spending more time teaching. She’s feels very strongly that Etsuko Ariyoshi has the potetetial to be a champion.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/4698/sensationalogiwaraalt1.jpg</span></p><p>

Sensational Ogiwara was more to the point. She’s pleased to welcome Etsuko Ariyoshi and Ichigo into the world of joshi puroresu, but it was also sending a message to DEVIL Karube what the real future of 5SSW is. Ogiwara also announced she was going to have a series of singles matches to prepare her better for her title match against DEVIL Karube.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/7955/devilkarubealt1.jpg</span></p><p>

DEVIL Karube was dismissive of Sensational Ogiwara’s challenge, preferring to talk about Moudoku-tai. She’s already set up a blog for her group and is very excited it’s already gotten quite a few visitors. She went on to say she’s offered membership to All-Asian Champion Raku Makuda and her partner Tomoko Nagatsuka. DEVIL felt it’s only natural that the champions of 5SSW, the elite of joshi puroresu, band together. By themselves they are already champions. Together they’ll change the 5SSW forever. When prompted by a reported about Ogiwara DEVIL seemed irritated and claimed Sensational Ogiwara was only getting the title shot based on past glories, and she would show Ogiwara was a paper tiger.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/4584/rakumakudaalt1.jpg</span></p><p>

Raku Makuda was noncommittal about DEVIL’s offer. She admitted it was tempting to join an already elite group, but she won the title on her own and doesn’t see what they would have to offer her. Raku went on to express annoyance at Tamara McFly, reminding McFly her only big match in 5SSW had been her draw with Sensational Ogiwara. A draw, her biggest match wasn’t even a win. “You thought you could just step back in after a couple of years and be on top? I’m not some rookie you can beat with a few moves. Maybe you should go back to Canada, where the competition is more your speed. I promise, you’ll only get hurt here.”</p>

<span>http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/4300/tamaramcflyalt1.jpg</span></p><p>

Tamara McFly responded to Makuda on her blog. We think. Our resident expert translated the entry as:</p><p>

“I'm really disappointed Makuda have these attitudes. I, 5SSW faced the best. If all the wrestlers respect, she will get a shot to win the title I that is unstable. 5SSW worthy champion strong!”</p><p>

Edit: One our English speaking readers was kind enough to provide a slightly more accurate translation. According to him McFly said she respected all 5SSW wrestlers, but Raku’s insecurity proves she’s a weak champion. So McFly wants to challenge for the All Asia title. </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/4118/kithatoyamaalt1.jpg</span></p><p>

Kit Hatoyama finally broke her silence since her title losing effort against DEVIL Karube. She again promised she was training hard, while expressing intense frustration over her many failures to win ‘the Big Match’. Kit said she’s developed her aerial moves as far as she could go and felt her kicks and mat wrestling were also a strong point. And wondered if perhaps the next stage of training would be her attitude. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Etsuko Ariyoshi, Ichigo v. Lovely Angels

Win's over the rookies. If not already past being considered young lions J-Ro and Yuma are close while Ariyoshi and Ichigo are both taking their rookie lumps.

Otsune Tsumura, Tsuki Kawamata v. Seek & Destroy

The champions will need much stiffer competition before they take a loss.

Amber Allen v. June Butler

Pretty sure Amber Allen is a young lion and Butler will continue to look strong until she is needed to lose to some one bigger.[/uI]

Kit Hatoyama, Tamara McFly v. Chitose Ariwara, Rei Chikanatsu

Kit and Tamara both seem to have things going for them while the team of Ariwara and Chikanatsu still need to build up some skill and overness.

MeguKiko v.
Sensational Thunder

I expect this will actually be better than your main event but maybe I'm wrong. Sensational Thunder just won't lose as Sensational Ogiwara moves toward her match with Karube. I expect Hike will be built toward a match with some one as well.

Moudoku-Tai (DEVIL Karube, Saori Nakadan) & Raku Makuda v. Connie Morris, Gorgon, Shiori Jippensha

Karube has a big match and Makuda a challenge to head towards so their team will take a win.

Later on when her friend was accepted to the 5SSW Dojo Makiko put in a good word for her and after a brief try out she was accepted. Early on she teamed with Huntress Makiko but found she worked better with junior wrestledr Tomoko Nagatsuka. They rose fast through the ranks before defeating Kiko Sakakibara and Otsune Tsumura for the tag titles. They lost the titles to Huntress’s new team but the two remained good friends. Technically proficient, is an expert with submissions as well as lighting fast strikes and suplexes. She’s not broken through as a singles wrestler yet but her tag team success is undeniable. <strong>Background:</strong> Ikuko Temko admits she’s always enjoyed fighting. That’s what drew her to train in Shotokan and Kyokushin kaikan karate. Both were harder styles that emphasized toughness, power and full contact sparring. Temko considered competing in MMA but there were few opportunies in women’s MMA in 1996. So she tried out for 5SSW and passed the rigourous physical requirements with flying colors. Her brutal style has earned her a number of enemies, but her success is apparent. <strong>Title History:</strong></p><p>

NONE</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Background: </strong> The best wrestler in 5SSW history to never hold a title. Kit Hatoyama’s background in gymnastics and basketball didn’t really prepare her for the tough life of a 5SSW dojo trainee but she showed great determination, never giving up no matter how rough it go. Her high flying style got her to the upper levels of the 5SSW but when she added karate to her moves she finally reached a level with Ogiwara, Hike and Crusher Ichihara. But even then the struggle only got harder. She challenged multiple times for the 5SSW title and made the finals of the Five star Grand Prix four times. But has never quite broken through to the top level. Hatoyama has sworn to win the World title before she retires.</p><p> </p><p>

March 2006 (Huntress Makiko and Ikuko Temko) to October 2006 (Raku Makuda and Tomoko Nagatsuka)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Background: </strong> “Bubble Gum” Kiko Sakakikbara started off as a typical high flier, a rookie fan girl who did her best to emulate the young greats of her time. Especially Sensational Ogiwara, Kit Hatoyama and Saeko Hiroyuki. But after a few years it started becoming apparent she wasn’t up to their standards. Not quite as fast, not quite as agile, not quite as talented. So she dedicated herself to being a better pro wrestler in general, developing her technical skills with Thunder Hike’s help. She has since become the gatekeeper for 5SSW and one of the most rock solid consistent wrestlers on their roster.</p>

DEVIL Karube and Saori Nakadan’s offers must be having effect as Raku Makuda agrees to tea up with them for a match. She’s still not wearing the poisonous looking green and yellow t-shirts of Moudoku-tai but at least she’s friendly with them. This was one of those famous mismatched trio matches 5SSW is famous for at spot shows in out of the way places. The Missouri Bruisers+troublemaker Shiori Jippensha hit the ring ready to turn the match into a brawl, but DEVIL and Raku, two of the fastest wrestlers in joshi puroresu, easily outmaneuvered them and hit them with a varfiety of flying moves. Nakadan kept her action grounded but the former 5SSW World Champion was too smooth with her technique to give the rough around the edges gaijin a chance. DEVIL Karube’s DEVILsault finished off Morris in a match that was never in doubt.(D+) After the match DEVIL and Saori offered a Mousoku-tai t-shirt to Raku but Raku asked for more time to think about it.</p><p> </p><p>

The semi-final match was easily the best of the night, a better of respect and honor between two time tag Champions Sensational Thunder and MeguKiko. Both sides showed excellent technique and hot moves, but Sensational Ogiwara and Thunder Hike were just too skilled and took over the match, Hike Forc ing Sakakibara to tap out to the Concrete Knot. After the match both teams bows and shook hands. © Tamara McFly showed she was adapted fast to the Japanese wrestling style by teaming with Kit Hatoyama the overwhelm young girls Rei Chikanatsu and Chitose Ariwara. (D) </p><p> </p><p>

June Butler welcomed Amber Allen to the bad part of town in the 5SSW. Allen shows spirit, standing up to Butler, but June’s stiff brawling style was too much for the rookie. (D+) Moudoku-tai badasses Seek & Destroy showed off their diversity against Otsune Tsumura and Tsuki Kawamata, Huntress using her smooth technique to out wrestle them while Ikuko Temko simply beat the crap out of them with stiff karate kicks. (D-) The rookie team of Etsuko Ariyoshi and Fighting Angel 15 (Ichigo) got the young lion treatment from the Lovely Angels, fighting hard but Maruya and J-Ro were simply better. And sexier. That has to count for something as well. (D-)</p><p> </p><p>

<p>And the tally is:</p><p> </p><p>

Apupunchau@optonline: 6/6</p><p> </p><p>

Waghlon: 6/6</p><p> </p><p>

So you both get the free Sensational Ogiwara T-shirts!</p><p> </p><p>

Now, three things.</p><p> </p><p>

Technically 5SSW doesn't do the Young Lion system, but I do. I love working in little traditional things into my puroresu, which I'm trying to reflect in my booking as well as the character write ups and promos.</p><p> </p><p>

Two, big thanks for all the predictions. After the first round of predictions I started to appreciate the difference between booking a game for fun and writing a diary. Booking a game for fun I just need to put together good matches. It doesn't matter how predictable it is. Booking for a diary, I need to be more creative. The next card coming up will reflect that better.</p><p> </p><p>

Three, there may be a small delay in the next few postings. I get to go in for medical tests. But no worries, I've already written the next few postings and things will be rolling again in a couple of days.</p>

Don't get to caught up on whether people (mainly me) can guess who you are going to book to win. Plus it feels good (at least to me on my end) to know that some one else would book like I would.</p><p> </p><p> Most of the matches against the "young lions" or really where any match where one worker has a vastly higher overness than another will be easy to predict. I really like diary and can't wait to see more. <p>Thanks. So far everything looks good so I should be fine.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

I should clarify that I'm not talking about going all Vince Russo in being less predictable. But presenting better matches, not a card that's all upercard v. lowercard/young lions.</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks for the feedback. Everything is still subject to change, this is very much a learning diary for me.</p>

DEVIL Karube posted on her blog today her amusement over Sensational Ogiwara’s hopes for the future of 5SSW. “Ogiwara might not understand this, but the future is being formed now. The past is done. I cleaned away the last of the past when I wiped a little of Ogiwara’s blood from my shoes. I’d say it’s time Hike and Ogiwara’s favorite students got a taste of the future of 5SSW.” </p><p> </p><p>

Lovely Angels spoke to the press while at a photoshoot for Lady’s Ring magazine. Yuma Maruya was very excited about the chance to work with Joanne Rodriguez, praising her partner’s style, experience, and work ethic. She admitted they were interested in fighting for the titles, J-Ro already has experience facing the tag champions. But they’ll need to get more experience working together before they’ll be ready. </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/9728/shiorijippenshaalt1.jpg</span></p><p>

Shiori Jippensha had other ideas on her Power of Iconoclasm blog. She described her pleasure at teaming up with Gorgon against the Lovely Angels. "Gorgon is derived from the Greek 'gorgos' and translates as terrible or dreadful. The Gorgons were immortal, nigh unstoppable forces of divine power whose blood could heal or could act as a deadly poison. The power of Greek Myth with my esoteric spirituality will be unstoppable!"</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/4584/rakumakudaalt1.jpg</span></p><p>

Raku Makuda spoke to the press today. She’s not very happy with Tamara McFly’s challenge for the All-Asian Title. “Tamara, you need to remember this is Japan. You can’t just walk in and demand a title shot like you’re in some cheap Canadian promotion and expect anyone to take you seriously. You need to win some matches, prove that you have the skill to merit a title shot. Being carried to a win by Kit Hatoyama means nothing.” When asked if she was planning to join Moudoku-tai Raku remained non committal.</p><p> </p><p>

Sensational Ogiwara posted on her blog that she was training hard for her 5SSW World Title match and that she had planned a series of singles matches to help her get ready. She would be facing Super Rookie Megumi Nakajima, Yuma Maruya and Kiko Sakakibara. She went on to say their styles matched up well with DEVIL as far as speed and moves go and her performance against them would be a good test of her readiness.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Amber Allen v. Thunder Hike

Sorry Amber not this time and this isn't going to be anything liked the famed 30 minute match between Tamra McFly and Sensationa Ogiwara either.

Seek & Destroy (Huntress Makiko & Ikuko Temko) v. Etsuko Ariyoshi & Ichigo

Seek & Destroy retain the titles until the face off against Lovely Angels then we've got a match that will be hard to decide.

Gorgon & Shiori Jippensha v. Lovely Angels (Joanne Rodriguez & Yuma Maruya)

Lovely Angels build more momentum toward a title shot.

Chitose Ariwara & Rei Chikanatsu v. Otsune Tsumura & Tamara McFly

Tamara McFly gets the pin as she seems to be the only one buidling toward something.

June Butler & Raku Makuda v. Connie Morris & Tsuki Kawamata

Raku Makuda gets the pin as she seems to be building toward her fight with Tamra.

Megumi Nakajima v. Sensational Ogiwara

This match will be the best match of the night. Megumi is really going places but Ogiwara is working toward her title shot and cannot look weak.

Moudoku-tai (DEVIL Karube & Saori Nakadan) v. Kiko Sakakibara & Kit Hatoyama

Kit is kept strong with Kiko taking the loss here.
