Please take the time to review the categories. The submit your nominations, Nomination will be open until January 15th 2010 @ 12pm Hawaiian Standard time.

 

Nominations types are listed below, the Big 5 are by nomination only, all others are open to self nomination, all nomination require 2nd's. ALL NOMINATION REQUIRE LINKS! especially those linking to best show/promo/storylines. Thank you :D.

This improvement can be over the course of the year, or over previous years. Heck I will even take improvement from one diary to the next. This is an award to play off of Rookie of the year, as some of us don't blossom early, we grow into it.

Independent Diary of the Year, by nomination only

Best diary about a non-national (or higher) or Non traditional promotion. (This category would include all non CV or RW mod diaries, along with any diary running running non nation with in the CV seem fair?)

Does that mean non-national real world diaries aren't eligible anymore?

I think it's open to all diaries that aren't SWF, TCW, WWE or TNA... and other national sized companies. It's a curious catagory, but I guess we had time to discuss it beforehand.

 

Good to see this up. Part of me is tempted to be that first guy who nominates himself for ever single catagory, but I think I'll take the high road and wait until later on. Maybe after lunch :)

Self FTW. (I've wanted a place to use that acronym since I learned what it meant :p)

 

it also technically includes any national sized company that is not in Real World or C-vesque mod. (Say D_W_W's master piece from the 9000 verse. just saying) It's the catch all the rest type category.

The Rocky Miavia Award uses "in real life" in it's explaination. Does that mean it's a Real World Only catagory, or does it include C-Verse characters (or even certain Superheroes) you didn't care about until you read them in a diary?

Personally I'm not a fan of the best 'Independent' diary category. Why should someone's FCW or MAW diary be seen as different/inferior to someones SWF/TCW diary or in the case of Real World diaries someones ROH diary compared to a WWE diary. My FCW diary is eligible for both Cornellverse and independent diary given the current rules, so my issues with the independent category aren't really about protecting my own self interests.

 

Personally I would have the 'diary of the year' categories split like this:

 

Real World:

 

Any diary based based on a real life scenario, be it present day or in the past.

 

Cornellverse :

 

Any diary based on the present day Cornellverse scenario or the historic Cornellverse 75 and Cornellverse 97 mods.

 

Alternative/Draft:

 

Any diary based on an alternative 'verse' or a 'draft' scenario (be it Cornellverse or Real World). This would cover things like dww's 9000 verse but also a diary like Self's FCK which uses Cornellverse workers but the fact that it is based on the Cornellverse draft, rather than the Cornellverse itself means that in my opinion it should be treated a little differently to other Cornellverse diaries.

Our diaries may have a lot of reader's, but people are generally less likely to tune into a AAA or CZCW diary (or ROH or CHIKARA) then they are a WWF/E or SWF diary because of the lack of 'name' workers. I would expect that a lot of the readership won't overlap, making separate categories seem reasonable to me.

 

Besides, who wants to go up against bigpapa if they can possibly avoid it? :p
