I'll really go whichever way the main mod team (You, BHK, Stennick, Fullhouse, Comradebot, crayon, ?Rayelek? and myself) feel is best. I know BHK expressed concern over the Nixon render (which I doubt I could replicate as well under the other, more cartoony style), and I really value his opinion/thoughts because he's been the life of the project as far as staying on people and keeping everything focused etc. I really value/respect that a lot. ^_^</p><p> </p><p> Don't want to crowd the render topic with this but if anyone has any thoughts on which style they prefer then post in the community board topic and we can discuss it. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Basically cartoony style + agers or realistic style + no agers. I made a series of renders a couple days ago featuring my author-avatar in the FPC (Fire Pro Club) Person Pack fed, FreedoM.

Pokethrough was not fixed on most (except for the "standing back" one), as the only shopping I did was the artistic one, and cropping on the others.

FreedoM is my own personal character and may not be used in any mods or diaries without my express written permission, as I control the character.

Also, I made a 400x200 banner using my renders (I use that size for e-fedding banners).

Well, unless USPW becomes an official e-fed or Adam officially incorporates more user-based characters, FreedoM will decidedly NOT be part of any roster other than the 3 feds I already have me participating in--FPC as a wrestler, UWF-UNSANCTIONED as Head Writer (Staff Member and/or one of the 5 Bookers), and IWC as a Junior Writer (Staff Member).

Also (kayfabe), I hardly think the crowds who frequent USPW shows would cotton to a TRANSGENDERED star-spangled knee-thrower. :(:confused:

Big revelation there just now, folks.

Thanks to the magic of kayfabe, they'll never have to know. We take this to our graves. Or something. :p (Oh, 90s horror films...)

I was just more or less saying the theme of the character I think you made it kinda clear that this is your creation and you want it to remain that way. I was just more or less commenting on the name Freedom and the attire.

lol yup. Probably a ways off from renders for all workers though.

Honestly I have a really powerful rig/know Daz like the back of my hand at this point. 90% of the time spend on an average render is creating a texture file for it. One texture took about 40 minutes on my old cpu. My new computer would probably allow me to do it in 20 mins because it's so much faster, but windows 7 has some compatibility issues with a lot of the stuff I use to make texture files.

Current style I'm using for the Community project:

[LOTSA PICTURES]

Resulted in some good results but I pinned myself into a corner because now I have to do texture files for ALL renders. The light source I'm using brings out texture details so I can't reuse textures, and most of the pre-made Daz stuff I've picked up over the years ends up having results that look too cartoony comparatively because of the different texturing from my own.

I started playing with switching over to a more cartoony style with the renders you saw on the other page - mainly for speed reasons (and because I liked the idea of agers which don't work well with the above style of rendering) - but then I started using a really dynamic light source and the render time still ended up being as long as the more realistic style renders.

I've weighed the pros and cons of using a neutral light source/no original textures/no agers which would allow me to do 30 renders an hour/90 a day/get renders for all the possible workers in a month or so but doing that would take a lot of the fun of rendering away for me - that being trying to create something beautiful. :o

I fail most of the time, obviously, but I have fun trying. :D

Sooo... for now I'm just trying to get my render setup back to how it was so that I can resume rendering in the old style. Eventually I might take a month and churn out some lower res stuff just so all of the workers have a render, but if I do that then it will be once all of the data is completed and only the renders remain. :)

Hey Kobe, just wanna say that your renders have come a long way since I saw them last and they're really looking good (the old man and "I'm Not George Clooney, really" guy especially). I can imagine that making new textures for each worker is a pain in the butt, but it may be a good thing, since it'll help give workers differentiation, and cut down on that "everyone is from the same gene pool" lookalike thing which can happen with DAZ sometimes

Very cool, Clarity. Not much more I can say about it than that (although I must confess to not quite understanding the fascination with elves a lot of rendering folk seem to have).

Been a while since I did a freebie render, so...

Free to use in any way y'all see fit.

Please PLEASE teach me what you're doing with lights to get those results sir. ^_^

I'm playing with Uber environment, which I'm guess is what you're using. But what are you doing with it/what's your secret? :)

That'll be Hikari Hair from Renderosity. Picked it up a while back, but never made it onto a 'released' render until now.

... and if Clarity were to ever share some kind of lighting preset, I'd do a fabulous jig of celebration. I mean, I like what I'm using now, but Clarity's lighting is simply phenomenal.

I'll just keep working to improve and figure more things out eventually, I think :)

Firstly make sure that all skin is set to 'Skin' in textures and then play around with UberEnvironment2 a little. Skin makes it look less plasticy

Each skin has to have its own intensity value otherwise it looks too bright.

I have also Ubers settings ramped up to max as the PC i built can run it normally with no problem (hair can be a nightmare sometimes though)
