They say you can never go home ...

... Perhaps they are right but where else would i have gone!? . . . I'm older now much older and ... Well i can't just run away again, i have responsibilities. Actually who am i kiddin' i'm more an hinderance than an help. I'm a 39 year old half crippled washed up former alcoholic EX-wrestler! Who without the help of too many pain killers than is good for you, wouldn't even be able to keep up with my little brothers kids never mind help him and his wife out with them ... Wait ... Let me start at the begining.

I was 15 years old when i ran away from home i ended up on the streets of London, where 1 of 2 things should of happened to me,

1, I should of ended up inside at her majestys pleasure as it were. or

2, I could of always ended up in a mental institute i was never the most stable of kids so the latter was the most likely scenario. But surprisingly i ended up after a chance meeting with Major WG Reginald III (a Wrestler at the time) training to become a Wrestler . . .

. . . Over the years my temper got much better not before resorting to alcohol to try to calm myself first though i regret to say, but that demon is an whole other story . . . Where was i!? Oh yes my training it didn't go great i was a right little . . . so and so shall we say. I did my best .. no my trainers did their best to instil what they could into me but i didnt put as much effort into learning the crafts as i did into "mucking around" I became an adverage at best Wrestler working the English independant scene for a few years sleeping in a van i bought and spending alot of the early 90's being so drunk or high that i didn't exactly set the wrestling business on fire . . . except that 1 time i accidently burnt down a shed we were using as a locker room but again i think thats a story for another time ...

... So fast forward a few years to 1998 and Ring of Fire (don't worry i didn't drunkenly set a ring on fire) was the companies name it opened in the Midlands doing a few shows in my home city of Nottingham Jimmy Morris was the boss man and guess what!? He owed me i did an handfull of jobs for him just 2 years earlier in Ireland and he promoised to return the favour for me one day and so i called him he of couse didn't answer and so i went back to Nottingham for the first time in 13 years and other than the odd phone call i hadn't spoken to my family for years ...

... I went to see my folks it was all strange to me family life my little sister had a kid and with another on the way she was much more grown up than me it would of been hard for an outsider to know who was the oldest. My two brothers had become big wrestling fans over the years and so it didn't take much for me to persuade them to come to the RoF show and with my youngest brother being only 13 he was used as a bargaining chip to get me in the show (oh mister Morris wont you please put me in your show my brothers come to see me he's only young and i'm like his idle!?) i fought Donny Damage in the card opener a 10 minute match in which Donny was very annoyed to be asked to lose ... I was never called back to work a show for RoF why? Well my theory at the time was that Donny was so annoyed at losing he demanded i'd never work their again .. But if you ask Jimmy Morris he'd probably say it was because i just couldn't work the Technical way. It's strange where you learn the truth about your craft i'd stayed around the Midlands working indys whenever i could and visiting my family as much as possible for a good 6-8 months even spending Christmas with the folks, i stayed in my van because well you can never really go home .. Can you!? It was my brother that said it best when he told me "You cant wrestle Brett but you can Brawl with the best of em'" and so America i went (apparently my style would suite there) ...

.. I arrived in America and worked a few shows here and there until DAVE came calling, this was the Summer of 99 and they were just getting hot they'd lost a handfull of top talent recently to the SWF and needed replacements that were willing take some big bumps put over their top guys and generally Brawl alot i was nothing but a gloryfied jobber for most of the 3 years i worked there spending most my time putting over the likes of Alex Braun, Chris Caulfield and JD Morgan who i struck up quite a friendship with and funnily enough i probably learnt more off him than anyone i worked with previous to this point (and this was in 2000 14 years into my career) it was around this time that i'd say i finally became a "Decent Wrestler" the start of my growing up process and then the Summer of 2002 i blew it ...

... I'm not going to tell the whole story but i OD'd i woke up in a hospital in Philly and was in bad shape id been on a massive bender the night before a big show and ended up missing the show i was soo i'll for 2 weeks i could barely do anything i was the perfect advert for being "Straight Edge" at this point oh and i was deported and sent back home but who would hire me know!? I spent 6 months trying to get clean and by the time 2002 turned into 03 i made a promise to never touch a drink again i've slipped a few times but for the most part i've succeeded and stayed sober ...

Hahahahaha I LOVE this backstory. Very interested to see where this goes. Loved the bit about burning down a shed.

Keep up the good work

... I barely worked at all through 2003 (not in the business anyway) i spent my time getting in the best shape of my career old ring wounds slowly healed and i was like a new man but where would i work!? The UK scene didn't want to take a chance on me and anyway RoF dominated (and i couldnt work there) The US wouldn't have me .. Japan? Europe? Check, i ended up after working a few Independants in Spain first in the Ultimate Combat Ring run by Louis Figo Manico and what luck he was tinkering his booking has he had done over the years and someone had given him the idea of a Pseudo-Hardcore style. This fake hardcore style used pretend barbwire and plastic chairs and didn't really suit me but i put up with it didn't grumble and for the most part kept myself to myself keeping away from the "Demons of the locker rooms" and in 2004 i won my first Title 18 years into my career i soon made the mistake of juicing on a semi-regular basis which seemed to upset Louis Figo Manico especially after he had once again decided to change the company image and so i soon dropped the Belt and moved on ... To Australia of all places ...

... From arriving in Australia to the end of my career that i'm leading to i had the most "fun" of my career. The whole art of Pro Wrestling in Australia was practicly made for me my style fit right in and i made friends and admirers wherever i worked, from my Coal Miners glove match with Drifting Dom Drago to my Barbwire Cricket Bat match against Mayhem Mulhoney i had some damn good matches ... and then i met The Comedian and night after night me him and Menace to Sobrierty put on some of the bloodiest brawls you would ever see and i think here we get to the end of my career ...

... The promotion was called Aussie Rules Wrestling the big angle was known as "Blood Runs Red" a silly name for what turned out to be a stupid idea for the end of the fued. It started of with the dastardly English Heel (me) taking the Main Strap from the hugely popular Comedian and in his rematch his long time friend Menace to Sobrierty turned on him and cost him the strap me and Menace continued over the weeks to take apart The Comedian until he bought in Big Jim Teasdale to be his tag partner and the blow off match was set up a 2vs2 Scaffold match with the man who wins the fall taking the Belt. The match would of and should of been the defining moment of my career . . . infact i guess it kinda was but not how i'd hoped, i decided to take a bump off the scaffold and through a table with The Comedian being the man to "throw" me off and Big Jim to pick up the pin but it went wrong ...

... I didn't hit the tables properly catching the edge with my head and then my right leg hit the ring post breaking it in 3 places (the leg not the post) and i suffered severe concusion and my career at the time it was meant to be taking off was over!! The promotion after bad publicity never put on another show and with the emergence of Australian Pro Wrestling and them buying out all the Smaller companys all focus was put on them and my career being ended didn't even stay in the headlines for long. After 6 months i could walk again with the aid of a stick and i did what i thought you couldn't do ... I went home.

Good to see another Oz diary :)

The Comedian vs Mayhem Mulhoney - I can't see you taking it off the boss.

The Apocalypse + Menace to Sobriety vs Dumfrey "Boss" Pinn, Abattoir + Mace Mauller. - A nice rub for Mace and Abattoir, but I don't know why you'd book your tag champs to lose.

Tombestone vs Asylum - It'll be a bloody affair, but it seems Tombestone is the better worker.

Looking forward to seeing your writeup :)

DIW Championship match

The Comedian vs Mayhem Mulhoney

Tis the bosses' belt. He's one of your most over workers, too, so no point in taking it off him.

The Apocalypse + Menace to Sobriety vs Dumfrey "Boss" Pinn, Abattoir + Mace Mauller.

I MIGHT be a teensy bit of a Menace to Sobriety mark.

Tombestone vs Asylum

Tombstone plays the role of a MMA Badass and throws the Wild and Crazy Brawler Asylum around the ring area the match ends with Tombstone in a "holysh!t" moment Chokeslamming Asylum off the top of a ladder and through 2 tables and Death Ref counts to 3.

Big Jim Teasdale "My gahd, that was one hell of a "sick bump" i haven't seen carnage like that for sometime"

Dean Hawkins "Thats the kind of action you see here in Deep Impact Wrestlin' this ain't no soap opera .. Oh gahd i'm being told Pinn Enterprises have paid for some advertisement time .."

http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo302/brettney1980/wrestling%20stuff/MenaceToSobriety.jpg?t=1264390570

Menace to Sobriety is drinking backstage and is jumped by "Pinn Enterprises Ltd" they beat him down and leave him in a pool of his own blood.

Hardcore Rulez;

Pinn Enterprises (Dumfrey Pinn, Mace Mueller + Abattoir) vs The Apocalypse (Hatemonger + Warmonger) + Menace to Sobriety

http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo302/brettney1980/wrestling%20stuff/DumfreyPinn_alt.jpg?t=1264390704http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo302/brettney1980/wrestling%20stuff/Abattoir.jpg?t=1264390499http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo302/brettney1980/wrestling%20stuff/MaceMueller.jpg?t=1264390528

Menace arrived to the ring late after The Apocalypse had to put up with being 3-2 down and attempt to cope with the gangland tactics of Pinn Enterprises. Menace just didn't have enough in the tank to help his team and while Hatemonger and Warmonger battled up the ramp with Abattoir and Mace Dumfrey Pinn hit the Boss-A-Nova (Death Valley Driver) on Menace to Sobriety and pinned for the 3 count.

Dean Hawkins "That was just not right that was close to damn Soap Opera sh!t right there, i hope someone permenantly shuts up that damn Dumfrey Pinn"

http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo302/brettney1980/wrestling%20stuff/DeanHawkins.jpg?t=1264390038http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo302/brettney1980/wrestling%20stuff/BigJimTeasdale.jpg?t=1264390145

The announcers proceed to put over just how important the DIW Championship is and how big the Comedian vs Mayhem Mulhoney match is.

Crazy Wild Man Mayhem Mulhoney throws fists almost as good as any man in Australia ... I said almost The Comedian is too good he battles back from looking almost out a number of times and just when the crowd think he can't take anymore he shocks 1 more time somehow having enough left in the tank to hit the Running Powerslam and Death Ref makes the 3 count The Comedian lights up his Cigar a sure sign that the show is over ...

http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo302/brettney1980/wrestling%20stuff/BrettJingo.jpg?t=1264391127

.. Except one man steps over the barrier from the crowd and starts clapping he has a mic ... "Well done Comedian well done that my friend was one hell of a match almost as good as when i used to beat you in a ring just like that .. Oh and Comedian enjoy your smoke while you can because there's a war coming and i'm not going to start it but by Jingo i'll finish it!"

Brett Jingo's notes;

Mmm .. Went about as well as i'd expected there was grumblings from sections of the crowd that the show didn't have enough storylines running (I've got 2 ..) so i better address that will probably have to extend to 1 hour and 1/2 then.

... Well my first show was done of course after only 5 days in the job it was a rush to get things in place for what i'd like to see i went back and forwards the entire time as to wether i should appear onscreen Big Jim thought i should The Comedian he was against it a little i think .. Its hard to tell with him sometimes . . . and i'm .. still not sure i did the right thing, but its done i've pulled the trigger on the storyline and its too late to turn back now ...

Week 2, January 2010

... I've sent feelers out this week to sign some guys i'd been watching at house shows i may of gone a little over the top but its my first real job like this and if a Wrestler doesn't connect with the crowd he may be out ... I still can't get over my meeting with The Comedian last week, held in a local strip club and also featuring Big Jim and Menace to Sobriety ... So i think unofficialy us 4 are the booking team ... Big Jim laughed when i told them the only rule i wanted in place for the boys was no Drugs i really didn't want to stop alcohol even with my problems with the stuff .. i guess i just don't want an unhappy locker room. We put the ticket prices up by $3 i'm sure our loyal fans don't mind we are in a war right now afterall ...

Owner Goals:

#1: Don't kill us! = When the time expires DIW must not have fallen below ~35 in the Promotion rankings.

Expires: 23 months, 3 weeks.

#2: Don't waste my money! = The financial balance must not have fallen below $20,000 when the time expires.

#3: Don't sign the oldies! = Can't hire any wrestler over the age of 38.

Expires: 27 months, 3 weeks.

Big Jim Teasdale "Thats right Dean, and i for one cannot wait to see Menace to Sobriety, Mayhem Mulhoney and Dunfrey Pinn all in the same ring .. oh and one more guy tell us who it is Hawk"

Dean Hawkins "The lucky fans will get the chance to see the cigarette smoking, rule breaking, anti-authority sociapathic rough - tough bastard himself .. The Comedian!!!!"

Big Jim Teasdale "Well this puts a dampner on things but i recognize that music .."

Out strolls Brett Jingo "You idiots can boo me all you want but i've been given time to explain myself and i will ... Now for those of you that don't know why i walk with a stick i'm going to enlighten you ... 3 years ago i was forced into a match against The Comedian, not just any match a Scaffold match and your hero The Comedian threw me off a height of over 20 feet and onto Tables where not only did i shatter the bones in my leg ... But i suffered severe concusion putting an end to my very promising career ...

"... Thats right boo me. Prove just how stupid and ignorant you all are ..."

The boo's soon turn to cheers when out walks The Comedian "Brett Jingo what a blast from the past nice to see you. Now get the hell out of my ring before i ram this mic down your throat!"

The Comedian enters the ring and stands face to face with Brett Jingo they stare each other down but out charges Pinn Enterprises Ltd. Mace Mueller, Abattoir and Dumfrey Pinn attack The Comedian he holds them off until he soon falls to the sheer numbers advantage .. Meanwhile Brett Jingo leaves the ring with a wry smile on his face.

Hittlespitz wins the tough DIW fans over with his effort but unfortunately his effort wasn't enough and Roadhouse Radford picked up the win after a Piledriver onto a chair.

Scottie "The Hammer" Hamstead is backstage and is jumped by Tombstone who proceeds to beat him down with a chair leaving him down and out as he walks away laughing.

Hardcore Rulez Match:

Tombstone vs Scottie "The Hammer" Hamstead

http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo302/brettney1980/wrestling%20stuff/Tombstone.jpg?t=1264517450http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo302/brettney1980/wrestling%20stuff/VS2.jpg?t=1264390310http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo302/brettney1980/wrestling%20stuff/ScottieHamstead.jpg?t=1264517407

Tombstone beats the already battered and bruised Scottie Hamstead fairly easily but to The Hammer's credit he manages to put up an ok fight but eventually tapping out to the Rear Naked Choke and Death Ref signals for the bell.

The four men came to brawl and brawl they did the announcers put accross that the rules for The Comedian Rulez match were No DQ, No Submissions and weapons are legal. Mayhem and Boss Pinn worked together to try to take on the semi-regular pairing of The Comedian and his long time friend/sometimes rival Menace to Sobriety to good effect but greed soon got the better of them when Mayhem sent The Comedian out the ring and through a Table and Pinn hit Menace with his Boss-A-Nova (death Valley Driver) they argued over who would make the pin and fought each other with Mayhem hitting Dumfrey Pinn with hiss chains that he brings to the ring.

Big Jim Teasdale "... Ouch thats gotta hurt and that will end any alliance Hawk"

Dean Hawkins ".. Hes making the Pinn 1 .. 2 .. Wait Comedians up he breaks the pin and hes got Mayhem up Running Powerslam 1 .. 2 .. 3 its over Comedian retains"

Big Jim Teasdale ".. and did you notice Hawk that Powerslam was right onto Mayhems Chains the Wildman is out cold"

Brett Jingo's Notes;

Roadhouse Radford and Milton Hittlespitz just didn't click so there goes any program ideas i had with them .. The fans got into the Face turn of Scottie "The Hammer" Hamstead that couldn't have gone better. I'm abit disapointed we didn't get any extra fans but at least we didn't lose any next month i think we'll have to run a cheaper show as we leaked nearly 6K in Jan and this month i think we'll lose around 6,500.

.. I'm going to have to have a word with The Comedian about Menace to Sobriety having a key to the petty cash i know the weather is nice and all that but i cant keep walking everywhere just because he's spent the money on beer ... Maybe i'll tell him in a few weeks especially has i know have to explain to him why i don't want Menace on the next show its not personal we just need cheaper workers we've lost over 12K so far in two months ... At least Warmonger turned down the offer that APW put on the table for him ... Damn them trying to steal our talent .. Well i sure got them back .. *They kick puppys* hahahaha!
