DOA: The Evolution of GREED

Recommended Posts

Love the show, Love the writing, great work. :D

I must speak of this though, as it will drive me crazy:

"That being said..."

You use it a tad too much. :o

And sometimes you use it at the beginning of a sentence or paragraph, and then contradict it, like you've forgotten that you started the sentence with "That being said".

I think it'd be fine if one character said it a lot, but everyone is saying it, and it will drive me so crazy, I might end up liking Acid:eek:

(I just generally dislike Acid)

Yea.... I get stuck in certain wording. I'm sorry & will work to try to break free from that.

Episode #2

Thursday, 2nd week of May 2010

The most chaotic, athletically grueling, death-defying form of Pro Wrestling is coming straight into your home this week, Thursday, on DOA "Rapid Assault". No one will be safe.... Everyone may leave via an ambulance.... and Some, May never be the same again.... However, ALL DOA competitors will gain your absolute respect as they wage war with one another, putting their lives at risk, all for one momentous collective prize.... To usher in a New Era in Pro Wrestling... An Era of limitless possibilities... An Era... of Deadly... Overloaded... Action!

Jettstream vs. El Dragón Dorado

Singles Match

For the second week in a row the "Psycho with a Death Wish", Jettstream, will open our telecast as he squares off against last week's Main Event competitor, El Dragón Dorado. For those who witnessed our Season Premiere of DOA "Rapid Assault"... It's quite easy to formulate an idea of what this match-up will be all about... Pure Aerial Anarchy! Can the young, Canadian-born, high flier finally steal a victory in "The Dungeon"? OR will the heavy favorite, and a man who almost won his debut match in DOA, come away with a win that could ultimately steer him back in the right direction?

Matty "The Pecker-Wrecker" vs. Fox Mask

Singles Match

The DOA's most "controversial figure", Matty "The Pecker-Wrecker" Sparrow, forges his way onto Arcadia TV this week with a exciting one-on-one affair with the Indy-Veteran, Fox Mask. While little is known whether or not Matty has any skills to show for OUTSIDE of the bedroom... One thing is for sure, We're guessing that he'll be properly stretched out before his match.

The Tokyo Express © vs. The Fly Boys

The DOA Death-Defying Duo Championship Match

Standard Death-Defying Duo Match

Last week, in the DOA "Dungeon", The Tokyo Express became the FIRST EVER DOA Death-Defying Duo Champions when OTA caught Jimmy P off-guard with a running spinning heel kick upon the descending Fly Boy. This week, The beach-bound tandem will receive the opportunity to, once again, overcome the odds and come away with Championship Gold. Do they have what it takes to dethrone the Express? OR will OTA and NARATO add another notch to their collective belt?.

Acid vs. Cannonball Funk vs. Johnny "The Blazing Red Demon" Vicious

Triple-Threat Match

Our Second Main Event in "Rapid Assault" history brings three men, who were all victorious last week, (in non Death-Defying Duo Action) to the table in an epic three-way-affair. It should be noted that the DOA's "Voice of Reason", Eric Tyler, has mandated that the ENTIRE DOA roster circle the ringside area during the duration of the match. NOT to act as Lumberjacks, if you will, however, to perpetuate an example to the rest of the roster... Giving them the sight of three men who were "able to get the job done" last week. What will happen when these three men step in between the ropes on Thursday night? Who will walk away with yet, another, big-time victory in the DOA "Dungeon"? Only time will tell...

And, Finally, in a SHOCKING report from DOA-Wrestling.com... Two high-powered individuals from "The Big Two" will be making an appearance at "The Dungeon" this week! Little is known as to WHY they will be stepping onto the DOA's home-turf... However, it's been rumored that these men are widely considered to be "Wrestling Industry Legends and Revolutionaries"! Who will it be? AND WHY have they come to the DOA? Tune in on this Thursday, the 2nd week of May 2010, to find out all the answers!

Jettstream vs. El Dragón Dorado

Jettstream might be a key figure of future seasons, But El Dragon can be a main character now

Matty "The Pecker-Wrecker" vs. Fox Mask

Controversy = victory

The Tokyo Express © vs. The Fly Boys

The FlyBoys are the dysfunctional team of your show and their constant bickering and one upsmanship will cost them the win

Acid vs. Cannonball Funk vs. Johnny Vicious

I see Acid being the big star of season one

Jettstream vs. El Dragón Dorado

Dragon just got a title shot and well Jett didn't.

Matty "The Pecker-Wrecker" vs. Fox Mask

Matty's had some good promos and Fox's team basically made no offense in the tag match.

The Tokyo Express © vs. The Fly Boys

Express won't lose the titles.

Acid vs. Cannonball Funk vs. Johnny Vicious

All three of these guys have momentum going. I say this match goes to hell in a handbasket at the end and we see a draw.

Can't wait!

Jettstream vs. El Dragón Dorado

Jettstream might just be season one's opening jobber, El Dragon has bigger things in mind.

Matty "The Pecker-Wrecker" vs. Fox Mask

Fox is going down the tag route, Pecker-Wrecker to win it.

The Tokyo Express © vs. The Fly Boys

Hmmm, I don't think they'll lose the titles straight away so I've picked them for the win. However, I can also see The Fly Boys getting a DQ victory. Got to pick one, but if I'm wrong, hey, it'd still be a moral victory for the Express.

Acid vs. Cannonball Funk vs. Johnny Vicious

All kinds of chaos ends this one. Maybe interference from SWF/TCW's finest? Maybe Steve Flash or El Dragon want some revenge? Or simply the lumberjack's take it upon themselves to cause havoc. Someway or another this one is going to a draw.

Who could the revolutionaries be? Runaway Train is the only possibly obtainable person I can think of who might fit the description but I'll still be shocked if he walks into The Dungeon!

I have to say that I really liked your psw diary but this could end up surpassing it in the end. I really like the wsx feel that you've created for the doa. All very cool.

I have to agree with some other people here as well when it comes to Acid. Im not normally a fan of him as it seems everyone jumps at using him BUT youve made him interesting and unique for a change. You're a great writer!

Jettstream vs. El Dragón Dorado

I see Jett Stream having plenty of crash and burn moments on season one of DOA.

Matty "The Pecker-Wrecker" vs. Fox Mask

With Fox Mask teaming alongside Masked Cougar (such a natural fit as tag partners), I see him being used more as a tag guy, where as the Pecker-Wrecker has a more defined character and seems in line for a fairly strong singles push.

The Tokyo Express © vs. The Fly Boys

Whilst I don't forsee DOA being the sort of fed where there will be ultra long title reigns, I don't see the titles being hot-shotted in what will be Tokyo Express first defence.

Acid vs. Cannonball Funk vs. Johnny Vicious

Acid emerged victorious in the first main event and came across as someone who should be seen as a 'star' so I see him continuing that momentum here.

I was hoping to find someone's picks to quote, but no one picked Jettstream, so I have to do my own.

Jettstream vs. El Dragón Dorado

-I see El Dragón coming just short again, just like last week.

Matty "The Pecker-Wrecker" Sparrow vs. Fox Mask

-Matty needs to pick up some momentum after getting thrashed last week by Roy.

The Tokyo Express © vs. The Fly Boys

-Not only does it not hurt for the champs to keep some momentum, its the same team that got beat last week.

Acid vs. Cannonball Funk vs. Johnny Vicious

-I like Johnny Vicious here, but Acid is the biggest star with ease.

Thank you, CZCW!

Acid is one of those characters that is widely used, however, when fleshing out my roster I knew that I needed to land a "big name" to keep things afloat. With that said, he is arguably one of my favorite characters to write for (as evident in my X-WA diary previously). His look, the name, just really everything about him screams a menacing bad-ass (even despite his size).

While he's my top guy from a popularity perspective, that doesn't mean that I'm going to theoretically feed him to the rest of my roster. I really do want to create "stars" on my cast and making things one-sided all the time would be somewhat stupid. His losses will be at smart positions though.

Also, thank you for the plug. :D

Night before "Rapid Assault"

... A 'Fly Boy' takes Flight ...

http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af315/Eisen-verse/Wrestlers/JamesPrudence.jpg

"I know, John. I get it... You think that the DOA would be better for me in the long run but lets face it. Even if the Network gives you a season or two to 'prove yourself'... Ultimately, you will fold. You, and this company, will never be the SWF. I'm sorry... but that's the truth."

His perspective on the matter, while arguably true, tore through my flesh and bones like a heated blade. Up until now, The DOA had done no wrong & was, for the most part, receiving a moderate sense of buzz for a small company based out of "Hollywood"; However, he was right... There was no denying that. Jimmy probably had a better chance at creating a sense of longevity to his career by Swiftly jumping aboard the Supreme-Train. I'm not going to say that I enjoyed hearing his reasoning though.

It was now set in stone. Jimmy P, one-half of the popular "Fly Boys" tandem, was set to step away from the company in a matter of a week. While it didn't necessarily change my creative outlook on what was to take place this week on "Rapid Assault".... I have to say, A part of me felt slightly wounded by the notion that we were unable to keep a "bigger name star" so early on. The loss of Jimmy, while not damaging to the singles division, would almost certainly set back the Death-Defying Duo Division as we now stood one babyface tandem short. Sure, there were easy fixes to the problem... but... I wasn't one to reach out toward easy fixes. If that were the case then I most likely would still be a full blown addict, scoring off of a nearby street corner, and ultimately destroying any chance at vindication.

Jimmy's inevitable absence forced me, yet again, to permanently plaster the "Drawing Board" within the back of my mind.... Attempting to find a new silver-lining in the loss of a vital member of our Triple-D-Division.

... Leave, Mr. Prudence ...

... For, If you truly believe in the "Land of Supreme" ...

... You don't belong here ...

<hr color="black">

What we Learned:

* Jimmy Prudence (Jimmy P in the DOA) will be leaving the DOA in a week to join the SWF under a written contract.

Jettstream vs. El Dragón Dorado

I like Jettstream but I think El Dragon will be a future heavyweight champ if he sticks around.

Matty "The Pecker-Wrecker" vs. Fox Mask

I know I should go with the Pecker Wrecker but I'm gonna side with Fox Mask

The Tokyo Express © vs. The Fly Boys

With Jimmy leaving I can't possibly pick the Fly Boys

Acid vs. Cannonball Funk vs. Johnny Vicious

I want to go with Johnny Vicious cause he's the man but I don't see Acid losing after he just won the title

Great start, really enjoying it so far, reminds me of the good old days of WSX, any chance of a D.I.F.H style tag team?

Just thought I would convey the message that Acid actually isn't the DOA Champion. The only title that has an actual champion, at this point, is the Death-Defying Duo Titles. :D

The opening segment of "Rapid Assault" speaks to the idea that Eric Tyler, "The Voice of Reason", doesn't believe that anyone on the roster was worthy enough to carry the title (A shortened version). That's why he brought in Acid as his "personal choice" to bring some credibility to the company.

I could def. see why it would be confusing as Acid won the first main event, however, I'm trying to create a sense of build to the first DOA Champion versus just thrownig it on someone from the first show!!

Hope that clears it up!

:D

Thanks, Arogue. I was a huge fan of WSX back when it came out so I could certainly say that it's a major influence on the DOA product. With that said, I don't really remember much for the characters? Who were D.I.F.H? Like character wise? I'm not coming up with much through google searches outside of matches they had (no character shown really).

I feel that they did a great job of creating that underground feel that I want the DOA to project. The true alternative to the SWF, TCW, USPW kind of approach to Storytelling. I never thought it would be as much fun as it is... but... It's become quite interesting thus far. This diary though, unlike PSW, may move a little slower as my free time is limited... BUT... I plan to keep it up to date as much as I possibly can.

Great find with the WSX connection!

D.I.F.H. (Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black) stood for Doing It For Her. They were promoted as being "emo" or "scene" and Tyler Black was pushed as being "intense" while Jimmy Jacobs was "sensative." I'd say its kinda similar to the "Teen Idol" gimmick in the default data modified slightly.

Also, if you've been watching WSX online somewhere, could you tell me where? I was a huge fan back in the day, but I had to watch online because I didn't really have cable.
