Live on Spike TV

Eric Bischoff has the ring set up with a table and papers and a pen on top of it. He introduces Impact and a contract signing for the NWA TNA World Heavyweight Championship match at Victory Road. He asks CM Punk and Abyss to come to the ring and they do, with Harley Race accompanying Abyss.

Bischoff tells the two to say a few words. Punk says Abyss will pay for what he has been putting him through in the past couple of weeks come Victory Road when he will defend his title. Race speaks for Abyss, and simply says that Abyss will destory Punk and take his title. He adds that Abyss does not care for New Dawn and their beliefs, Abyss just likes to destroy people.

Punk and Abyss sign the contract. Right after it is done, Abyss attacks and ends up putting Punk through the table with a Choke Slam. For the third straight week, Punk is left laying by his challenger at Victory Road. C

Ken Shamrock is backstage saying that Mr Wrestling IV has to prove he can hang with the best and that Shamrock will show that he can't come Victory Road. IV comes by and tells Shamrock he will show the world what he is capable of and why Shamrock used to be a dangerous man. Shamrock stares a hole through IV. D+

Pac (United Kingdom) v Rey Bucanero (Mexico)

Not much was expected from this match between two wrestlers who aren't high on TNA's radar, but they proved their worth in a short but entertaining opening match. Bucanero did the job for his Mexican team mates to take this quarter final to the rubber match by squaring it up in 4:47 by pinfall with a Michinoku Driver. D+

UNITED KINGDOM 2 MEXICO 2

Steve Corino is backstage. He tells the TNA world that he has been informed by email this past week that he will be facing Mike Sanders at Victory Road. Email? he says. Business isn't done by email in wrestling. Corino says that management... cough... Eric Bischoff. No matter says Corino, he'll kick Sanders' ass at Victory Road regardless. C

Bryan Danielson is shown preparing for Jerry Lynn at Victory Road, the footage focusing on ring work. Unlike Lynn's corresponding video last week, in the background looking on is Lynn himself. C

Desmond Wolfe v EZ Money

In a challenge match made last week, Wolfe proved to be too good in a solid contest that saw some good technical wrestling, primarily from Wolfe. The Londoner's win came in 8:46 by pinfall with a Tower of London. D+

Eric Bischoff now has CM Punk in his office. Bischoff says he doesn't like Punk, he thinks his New Dawn ethics are not good for business and following his embarrassment the past three weeks at the hands of Abyss, he feels he needs to man up. He has decided to give Punk the chance to man up on Explosion this coming week when he will defend his title against Jose Maximo. Punk is furious but gets physically escorted out by four burly security guards. C+

A video is shown hyping the six man tag on Explosion between The Fringe and CM Punk's New Dawn. D

TNA TV TITLE

Mike Quackenbush (champion) v Robert Roode

A good match where again Quackenbush had a tough time against a challenger who has been on the fringe (pun intended) as Roode fought his heart out to gain his first title in TNA. Once again though, Quackenbush managed to eke out a win as he defended his belt in 11:30 by pinfall with a Quackendriver. Mike Quackenbush makes defence number 3 of his TNA TV title. C-

Sid Vicious barges into Eric Bischoff and demands to know who Bischoff has lined up for him at Victory Road. Bischoff tells Sid to shut up, he will tell him when he is good and ready. The same four burly security guards who bundled CM Punk earlier appear to do the same to Sid, although they have a tougher time of it this time. C+

Jeff Jarrett is in the ring saying how he wants to rid TNA of "stupid little redneck punks like AJ Styles". Styles has had enough and rushes the ring, getting a couple of quick shots in on Jarrett before he bails out and runs up the ramp. Styles is livid in the ring and tells Jarrett he'll get his at Victory Road. B-

Double X (with Francine) v New Dawn

Rocky Romero was off colour tonight but his poor performance didn't stop the match from being a good one. Coleman and Rave made the most of Romero not being up to standard to take a win and maintain their position in the upper echelons of the tag team ranks in 12:05 when Caprice Coleman defeated Frankie Kazarian by pinfall with a Dawn Awakening. C

Eric's Army are backstage saying their time is now and on Explosion this week they will prove they are the best tag team in the world when they beat the FBI. C

Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell is backstage with Hernandez. He tells Hernandez that he comes in peace but Hernandez looks ready to deck him. Buff looks Hernandez up and down and tells the burly Mexican that he has many great things about him that are very similar to 'Alpha Male' Monty Brown. Except that Monty has a very large lunchbox. Hernandez goes to hit Buff but Buff just dodges and escapes. Laughter is heard in the arena. B-

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

'The Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels (champion) v Evan Karagias

Perhaps a match that didn't quite live up to expectations and as a main event it was a little sub standard. That's not to say it was a bad match, not by any means. It was fast paced on the large part with some exciting aerial action. Karagias came close to claiming the belt but Daniels prevailed in 17:29 by pinfall with a Last Rites. Christopher Daniels makes defence number 1 of his TNA X Division title. C-

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

'The Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels (champion) v Satoshi Kojima

A very good opening match where champion and challenger went toe to toe in an enthralling encounter. There is no doubt that Kojima has been quite a find for TNA and his performances have been very good and he made Daniels work to keep his title tonight. Daniels was successful as Kojima received applause for his efforts in 10:52 by pinfall with a Last Rites. Christopher Daniels makes defence number 2 of his TNA X Division title. C

Harley Race is backstage with his monster Abyss, who is punching a wall with his bare hands. Race says that Abyss will continue his path of destruction at Victory Road and that TNA will see it's first monstrous champion. C

NO DISQUALIFICATION

Mr Wrestling IV v Vampiro

Weapons. Check. Brutality. Check. Technical wrestling. Some. Mr Wrestling IV was tiring late on in an average match where excitement was a little lacking but managed to hang on long enough to record a victory in 11:33 by pinfall with a Sudan Elbow Drop. D+

Dusty Rhodes makes his first appearance in TNA since Paul London left the company. He says soon he will reveal a new client that he intends to take to greatness in TNA. C-

Brian Lawler v Jerry Lynn

In a fairly short contest, Lynn dominated Lawler and took an easy win in 8:09 by pinfall with a Cradle Piledriver. The crowd heavily booed Lawler throughout. D+

Bryan Danielson speaks from backstage angry that Jerry Lynn has been spying on his training sessions and that he will now surprise him at Victory Road. E

CM Punk's New Dawn (AJ Styles, Evan Karagias & The Amazing Red) v The Fringe (Austin Aries, Mike Quackenbush & Mike Sanders)

A good, wild six man tag but Red let his side down by under performing. This led to the match kind of being like a handicap match and this eventually took it's toll on the New Dawn as The Fringe pulled out another win and recently are being anything but on the fringe of TNA. Their win came in 12:29 when Mike Sanders defeated AJ Styles by pinfall with a 3.0. C

Eric Bischoff is backstage with Sid Vicious. Sid is agitated that he still doesn't know who Eric Bischoff has in mind for his open challenge. Bischoff bites back saying that if Sid is so mad that he doesn't know who his Victory Road opponent is then he shouldn't have issue an open challenge in the first placce. C

Ken Shamrock v Steve Corino

A good match that saw a perfect blend of brutal action and submission wrestling, Shamrock was able to prevail over a battling Corino in 14:06 by submission with an Ankle Lock. C

Jeff Jarrett talks about AJ Styles, saying how he will make an example out of him at Victory Road as he teaches him what real wrestling is all about. C-

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Eric's Army (champions) v Full Blooded Italians

Finally FBI get the title shot, two on two, that they earned previously. In the three way back at Hard Justice it was Eric's Army who scored the pinfall over them and it happened again tonight in an entertaining tag team contest that did see Guido and Mamaluke come close with near falls and saves from Eric's Army. Miller and Douglas used all their nous and experience to prevail in 17:49 when Ernest Miller defeated Little Guido by pinfall with a Thrust Kick. Eric's Army I make defence number 2 of their NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. C

Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell is saying thank you to The Godfather for everything he has done for him referring to 'Alpha Male' Monty Brown. Godfather says he did nothing. He did one thing for a one off and that he only deals in hos. Buff is shocked but then declares himself happy that he is winning round Monty "for a bumming". Godfather tells Buff to shut up and start thinking about their six man tag at Victory Road against LAX. C-

NWA TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

CM Punk (champion) v Jose Maximo

A good main event and championship match where Maximo, who has achieved much in his TNA career, aimed for the ultimate prize. Punk largely had the better of Maximo for the first half of the match, until Eric's Army en masse - Jeff Jarrett, Ernest Miller, Shane Douglas and even Eric Bischoff arrived at ringside. Robert Brisko was of course distracted by this and not even interference from the Tag Team Champions were able to help Maximo put Punk away. Seeing developments, the rest of CM Punk's New Dawn came out in full - AJ Styles, Caprice Coleman, Evan Karagias, Jimmy Rave and The Amazing Red ran off Eric's Army. With the match back to one on one, Punk resumed control and closed it out in 18:34 by pinfall with a Pepsi Plunge. CM Punk makes defence number 6 of his NWA TNA World Heavyweight title. C

SID VICIOUS' OPEN CHALLENGE

never bet against the mystery man. :-)

Mike Sanders v Steve Corino (D+)

Sanders and the Fringe are on the upswing. hate to see that momentum derailed here against a slumping Corino (who I think needs to get back to his winning ways very soon - possibly after a heel turn - could see him joining up with the American Dream only to stab Rhodes in the back "Horsemen style")

'Alpha Male' Monty Brown, Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell & The Godfather v Latin American Exchange (Hernandez, Jorge Estrada & Ultimo Guerrero)

better teamwork - tho Monty has basically single handedly carried the load (heh heh) and overcame the odds in the past this is Victory Road, not Against All Odds.

Live on Spike TV

Eric Bischoff is in the ring, saying he is lining up his ideal opponent for Sid Vicious at Victory Road and Bischoff states that he thinks Sid is stupid for issuing an open challenge for such a big event. Sid's music then hits and out walks the big man, and he towers over Bischoff in the middle of the ring. Sid is clearly seething as he demands Bischoff tells him who his opponent is, given Bischoff answered Sid's open challenge on their behalf. Bischoff remains resolute, saying that on next week's Impact he will reveal all before sarcastically closing by saying that "Sid will love the surprise". C

A rematch between Desmond Wolfe and EZ Money is announced, though a lot of people don't seem to bothered. D-

Air Paris v Evan Karagias

A good and highly entertaining opening contest where two former TNA champions square who are both on a downward spiral square off. It was even with both men looking good and earning close falls. Victory went to Paris in 8:44 by pinfall with a fast roll up and the relief on his face at the end of the match at ending his losing streak was clear for all to see. C

Mr Wrestling is seen in a pre recorded segment filmed after his Explosion match with Vampiro. He is seen celebrating and whooping with delight at having finally defeated the dark vampire. C+

Dusty Rhodes is seen backstage looking at Full Blooded Italians in action on video. He likes what he sees. C

America's Most Wanted (Harris & Storm) & Steve Corino v The Fringe (Aries, Kash & Sanders)

A wild match where all six men brawled on a couple of occasions and Mickey Jay struggled to maintain control. Sanders was not at his best on this night but was still able to lead his men through a tough battle and ultimately a hard fought win in 8:09 when Mike Sanders defeated Steve Corino by pinfall with a 3.0. C

Eric's Army are talking in the ring about how they are the greatest TNA Tag Team Champions and how they disposed of the number one contenders "with ease" on Explosion earlier in the week. New Dawn music hits and out walk the former champions. Coleman and Rave interrupt Miller and Douglas and remind them that they have their rematch at Victory Road, and they hold a number of victories over them. Miller and Douglas say they have learned from their previous mistakes and tell Coleman and Rave that if they lose at Victory Road, they won't be giving them another shot. Coleman and Rave say they only need one shot to get their belts back. C+

Harley Race is hyping up his monster Abyss as being the next NWA TNA World Heavyweight Champion when CM Punk comes by and attacks Abyss. Punk is relentless in his assault, unleashing a fury yet seen from him in TNA. Abyss is left laying as Race is left speechless. Punk tells Race he is ready for Victory Road, and no number of beatings or amount of intimidation will stop him from defending his title. C

TNA TV TITLE

Mike Quackenbush (champion) v Trent Acid

Quackenbush dominated a short match and made by far his easiest title defencein 4:21 by pinfall with a Quackendriver. Mike Quackenbush makes defence number 4 of his TNA TV title. A small, perhaps unkind, section of the crowd were heard chanting "Fuck off Acid" at the conclusion of the match. D

Immediately following the match, Doug Williams' music hits and the Brit challenges Quackenbush to a title match at Victory Road, saying that he will provide Quack's sternest test yet. D

Following a commercial break, The Fringe have a party set up in their locker room... beer, nibbles and girls are all present as the four are rowdy and happy at their growing success. D+

'The Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels & Bryan Danielson v Jerry Lynn & The Amazing Red

Another very entertaining match that involve four fast paced and (mostly) technically sound wrestlers who went all out in a pulsating tag team bout. Team work was not at it's slickest though neither team featured regular tag team wrestlers. It was the X Division Champion who had his arm raised with partner Danielson as in 14:12 Christopher Daniels defeated The Amazing Red by pinfall with a Last Rites. C

Backstage and Buff 'The Puff' Bagwell and Jorge Estrada are in an argument, with Estrada saying that Buff's antics and homosexuality "makes him sick". 'Alpha Male' Monty Brown over hears the commotion and comes in to act as peace maker, as he bundles Buff out of the way. Buff's anger turns into a large grin as Monty manhandles him. C-

Ken Shamrock is at the bottom of the stairs that lead to the stage in the arena. Shamrock warns Mr Wrestling IV not to celebrate yet as he still has to face the world's most dangerous man at Victory Road. He will demonstrate to IV just what he will have to deal with when he takes out AJ Styles right now... C

AJ Styles v Ken Shamrock

Even though it appeared as though there was a lack of psychology during the match, this was deservedly the match of the night as AJ's exciting style was a good contrast to Shamrock's smash mouth mix of striking and submission wrestling. Both men had their moments of ascendancy and looked like winning the match. The crowd were firmly behind Styles and against Shamrock. Shamrock's words before the match were holding up despite Jeff Jarrett appearing and distracting AJ Styles. This distraction allowed Shamrock to close the match in 18:29 by submission with an Ankle Lock. C+

Following the match, Jeff Jarrett climbs in the ring, hauls up a hurt AJ Styles and nails him with The Stroke, as the crowd boo loudly. B-
