PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Bryan Danielson defeated Air Paris in 8:26 by submission with an Arms Across America. Danielson was off his game tonight. C+

Sunday, week 2, November 2005

Broadcast on Spike on Monday, week 3, November 2005

Manuel A. Perez Arena, San Juan, Puerto Rico

Impact starts and Dixie Carter is accompanied by TNA Director of Authority, Dusty Rhodes, who is carrying a large box. The two climbs into the ring and Dixie addresses the TNA fans. She says that she and the other TNA board members had an emergency meeting with NWA officials this past week. Because the current NWA TNA World Heavyweight Championship holder, CM Punk, has left TNA to join WWE the NWA has reached a decision to strip CM Punk of the championship and furthermore to end their affiliation with TNA and the World Heavyweight Championship. This means that the NWA will start their process to name a new World Champion and it leaves TNA with no choice than to start our own process to name our new TNA Heavyweight Champion.

With that, Dusty Rhodes opens the box and pulls out the new TNA Heavyweight Championship belt.

http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR4N6gyLzDPnCapplclKEvJJjco-cpvXj8HlHp2mcni0WGsjj3T

John Layfield’s music hits. He strides to the ring with purpose and demands that Dixie and Dusty name him the first TNA Heavyweight Champion as CM Punk denied him the chance to win the old championship from him. Dusty cuts him off, and tells him it’s going down at Feast or Fired. As usual, ten men will enter the match and four briefcases will be hung above the ring. One change from the past though, instead of one briefcase containing a Heavyweight Championship match, instead this briefcase will decide the first TNA Heavyweight Champion.

“Make me champion” shouts Layfield.

“No” says Dixie.

Dusty continues, saying there will be a series of qualifying matches starting next week to determine the competitors. Dusty does concede though that Layfield was deprived off the opportunity to become champion so he will allow Layfield to bypass the qualification process and he will go straight into the Feast or Fired match.

Layfield again demands the title.

Dixie tells him the only way he will get the chance is through Feast or Fired. If he won’t enter that match, he won’t get a title chance. Layfield reluctantly agrees, ending a long opening segment to a commercial break. C+

Following the commercial, EZ Money is backstage taunting Vampiro, saying that Vampiro will follow Money out of the TV Title Tournament in the First Round. D+

TNA NATIONS CUP SEMI FINAL MATCH 1

USA II (Mike Quackenbush) v MEXICO (Super Crazy)

After the show has been one for over twenty minutes, we finally get our first action of the night and thankfully it was worth the wait. The action was of a decent standard although the match was a little one sided, and Crazy, having had most of the match made it all count by giving Mexico the lead in the best of five series in 7:26 by pinfall with a Trifecta Moonsault. C

A heated argument backstage between the newly crowned Tag Team Champions AK-47 and the dethroned Dudleys leads to the two teams to agreeing to the rematch on the next edition of Explosion in a couple of weeks time. C

Kevin Kelly speaks to Caprice Coleman backstage, who speaks of his pride of being the TNA X Division Champion and remarks that TNA is the place where the hottest competition is for X Division style action. C

TNA TV TITLE TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND

Chavo Guerrero Jr v Shoichi Funaki

An enthralling match between two wrestlers that are exciting to watch, with the added element of it being a TV Title Tournament match. The action went back and forth and up and down as both competitors went high risk often, and it was Chavo who’s risks reaped the reward when he advance to the Quarter Finals in 9:42 by pinfall with a Gory Bomb. C+

Ken Shamrock bursts into Ken Shamrock’s office. Shamrock is not happy with the decision to crown the first TNA Heavyweight Champion in the Feast or Fired match and says he deserves an opportunity like Layfield’s as he has been on an impressive run. Rhodes agrees Shamrock has been impressive of late, but says that Layfield is the only one automatically in Feast or Fired as he was lined up to be the challenger to the old championship, and Shamrock has to earn his spot like everyone else. C+

‘Big Black Love Muscle’ Monty Brown, Buff ‘The Puff’ Bagwell and Chris Kanyon cut a promo backstage, promoting a pro homosexual message and that “there is nothing wrong being gay”. C

TNA TV TITLE TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND

Steve Corino v Vampiro

A solid enough match, though Vampiro was drawing heat from the crowd for his character in general. The action was complete contrast to the previous first round match as all the action on this one was on the ground and that was perfectly fine as it was Corino against Vampiro. Corino outwrestled his opponent and will meet Super Crazy in the Semi Finals thanks to victory in 11:26 by pinfall with an Old School Expulsion. C

Harley Race is next to argue his case for Feast or Fired and the TNA Heavyweight Championship, or rather he argues Abyss’ case. He states that his monster Abyss has been destroying people for months and he’s not even had one title match for even longer. Dusty tells Race and Abyss that he only needs to destroy one more person to get his championship chance and puts him in a qualifying match next week, though he doesn’t reveal who his opponent will be. C

Al Snow and Maven are backstage, talking about old times when they teamed in the WWF. They then declare they have decided to team up again and go after the NWA TNA Tag Team Championship. C-

Christian Cage v Satoshi Kojima

A good, mostly mat based match which was a little surprisingly lacked some interest from the crowd, those who did show interest predominantly supported Kojima. Cage played to this though and overcame the tough Japanese wrestler in 12:06 by pinfall with a Lariat. C+

'Wildcat' Chris Harris is backstage conducting a promo, saying he is proud to be a former NWA TNA World Heavyweight Champion and says he would be equally proud to be the new TNA Heavyweight Champion. Dusty Rhodes approaches Harris and tells him that is the kind of attitude he wants to see, and gives Harris a qualifying match in two weeks time. C-

Jeff Jarrett cuts a promo saying he is hugely disappointed in that Dixie Carter and Dusty Rhodes have let TNA “go down the drain” and lost their affiliation with such a great institution as the NWA. C

Goldust v Rey Mysterio Jr

Tonight’s main event saw some great action where Rey was as exciting as ever and Goldust was as bizarre as ever, and somehow this all worked really well. The crowd were fully behind Rey and he sent them home happy by defeating Goldust in 14:38 by pinfall with a Top Rope Splash. B-

Show rating: C+

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA’s popularity.

A number of angles did not reach the standard of the matches.

PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Brits Abroad defeated Divine Storm in 6:08 when Desmond Wolfe defeated Chris Divine by pinfall with a Guvnor's Crumpet. C-

Impact

Sunday, week 3, November 2005

Broadcast on Spike on Monday, week 4, November 2005

Canton Civic Center, Canton, OH

http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS1MjfC2TY9q9s6R6vc2_KlgvnikRX8hNKX1Gp2RG-07Y1372H6

John Layfield is in the ring to start Impact and tells all that he is being victimised. He came to TNA to help The Don Vince McMahon to takeover wrestling, but since the takeover failed, he has been singled out. Layfield says he should be named the TNA Heavyweight Champion as he was to receive the title match when CM Punk walked out but because he has been unfairly treated, he has been told he has to fight in Feast or Fired. Layfield closes the opening segment by saying he is going to consult his lawyers and will get named the TNA Heavyweight Champion and Feast or Fired won’t happen. B-

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP NUMBER ONE CONTENDERS MATCH

Air Paris v Billy Kidman v EZ Money v Jerry Lynn (with Jimmy Hart) v Paul London v Ultimo Guerrero

A frantic, fast paced and chaotic match that was never short of action, but because there was so much action it was difficult to follow it all at times. All six men hit their finishers in the match but the one that counted came in 7:43 when Ultimo Guerrero defeated Paul London by pinfall with a Reverse Superplex. Guerrero gets a title match at Christmas Feast. C-

Al Snow talks up his tag team partner Maven, saying he is Tough Enough to be his Tag Team Champion partner. C

‘Big Black Love Muscle’ Monty Brown, Buff ‘The Puff’ Bagwell and Chris Kanyon are backstage. They are all in the Feast or Fired qualifiers and they say that they will have a “ménage a trois” at Feast or Fired. The cameraman is heard heaving. C

TNA NATIONS CUP SEMI FINAL MATCH 1

USA I (Steve Corino) v Canada (Vampiro)

Vampiro entered the arena looking even more darker and sinister than before and speaking in tongues as he made his way to the ring. It didn’t put off Corino though, as the match went the same way as the TV Title Tournament match last week as Corino gave USA I the series lead in 8:09 by pinfall with an Old School Expulsion. C-

Dudleys are backstage, taunting AK-47 and calling them lucky champions. AK-47 hear the Dudleys’ insults and Austin Aries and Kid Kash charge the set and the four start brawling. C-

Satoshi Kojima speaks from backstage, saying he is targeting gold and declares his intent to qualify for Feast or Fired. C+

TV TITLE TOURNAMENT QUARTER FINAL

Chavo Guerrero Jr v Doug Williams

Chavo picked the wrong evening to put in a bad performance and he wound up being eliminated from the tournament thanks also to a clinical outing from Williams. He was focused and didn’t make a mistake, advancing to the Semi Finals courtesy of a win in 10:16 by pinfall with a Chaos Theory. C+

Following a commercial break, Christian Cage is in the ring. He calls out Rey Mysterio Jr. Rey comes out and Cage calls him a “little man” and a “midget”. Rey takes offence and goes to attack Cage, who bails from the ring. Dusty Rhodes appears on stage and says he’s had a good idea, that they face off at Christmas Feast. B-

Ken Shamrock is cutting a promo backstage saying he will win the TNA Heavyweight Championship at Feast or Fired. John Layfield interrupts and says he should be champion and the match will not even happen. Shamrock tells Layfield to stop crying and the two look like they will fight… but Layfield walks away. C+

TV TITLE TOURNAMENT QUARTER FINAL

Mike Sanders v The Miz

A close match that looked all the way it could go either way. Miz sneaked the win in 8:36 by pinfall with a Reality Check which left Sanders banging the apron in frustration as he left the ring. Miz is in the Semi Finals much to his delight but not the crowds’. C

Kevin Kelly speaks to ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris backstage. Kelly mentions Harris winning Feast or Fired last year and cashing in to win the World Heavyweight Championship from Ken Shamrock. Chris Harris says he wants a repeat and this time he walks away the new TNA Heavyweight Champion. Kelly reminds the fans that Harris has his qualifying match next week. D+

Goldust is in a room decked out entirely in gold. Goldust says he loves gold, as he plays with his golden dildo, Gordon. He says that one more gold accessory is needed and he’ll get it at Feast or Fired. C+

FEAST OR FIRED QUALIFYING MATCH

Abyss (with Harley Race) v ‘Big Black Love Muscle’ Monty Brown

A disappointing main event that saw Abyss struggle to, but eventually manage to maul his strong and very homosexual opponent Monty Brown. Even though Monty tried some gay moves, Abyss was either immune to them, or not be bothered by them. Abyss qualified for Feast or Fired in 14:20 by pinfall with The Black Hole. C-

no cards for SMW yet? I'm sure a local group, the ratings will be subpar.

Charles Wright is the champ? as in Papa Shango / Godfather? strange him going by his real name in a Jarrett run organization (Jerry turned a local journeyman Sugar Bear Harris into Kamala when he had the Memphis territory. Can only imagine what gimmick he could build for Wright - I'd see him using the Shango character)

maybe they will become your training ground

PRE SHOW

EZ Money v Vampiro

A decent opening contest between two men who have been having an increasingly heated rivalry of late. Money took the fight to Vampiro but the cult like vampiric figure overcame the fans’ choice Money in 8:01 by pinfall with a Nail in the Coffin. C

Harley Race is backstage with Abyss, talking about how his monster will make it a very unhappy Christmas for nine other wrestlers. John Layfield enters the scene and looks Abyss up and down. Abyss and Layfield give each other the eyeballs. The situation is tense before Layfield walks off. C+

FEAST OR FIRED QUALIFIER

Chavo Guerrero Jr v Satoshi Kojima

A very good match that saw some great action, with Chavo’s aerial and mat wrestling matching up well against Kojima’s hard hitting wrestling style. The majority expected Kojima to qualify for the big Christmas Feast match but an upset happened as Chavo qualified by dubious means in 9:33 by pinfall, illegally using the ropes for leverage. B-

FEAST OR FIRED QUALIFIER

Jeff Jarrett v The Truth

Another qualifying match and another surprise, probably a bigger surprise than the previous match. Some sporadic great action here but not consistently throughout the match like the preceding affair. Jarrett was left dumbstruck in the ring as he was defeated by The Truth in 10:42 by pinfall with a roll up. C

Kevin Kelly speaks to Ken Shamrock backstage, who rants at being beaten by ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris on Impact, denying him the chance to compete in Feast or Fired. Shamrock then goes wide eyed crazy and destroys the set, before attacking Kevin Kelly with his own microphone. C-

FEAST OR FIRED QUALIFIER

Chris Kanyon v Goldust

The third qualifier tonight and another entertaining match up, and this was often rather bizarre with Goldust openingly playing up to and enjoying Kanyon’s homosexuality. Late on in the match, Goldust’s antics wound up Kanyon too much, leading to him making a couple of mistakes and Goldust qualifying in 12:38 by pinfall with a Bulldog. B-

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRDBMSQ0_iTO7VvB3vnNp1PvZHbryqaECz942G_joAC98-E16CZHA

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Caprice Coleman (champion) v The Miz

A decent match but not a match where The Miz should underperform, which resulted him in handing victory to Coleman on a plate. Even so, Coleman is looking increasingly impressive as the X Division Champion and as every week goes by his star gets bigger. This win came in 13:05 by pinfall with a Thermal Shock. Caprice Coleman makes defence number 8 of his TNA X Division title. C

Backstage and Abyss and John Layfield attack ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris. Harris is left in a bad way as Abyss and Layfield smile sadistically at each other. C

NWA TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

AK-47 (champions) v Dudleys

A decent match but it did suffer as it is the fourth time these teams have squared off in recent months. AK-47 have largely had the number of their more established opponents and they pulled off another win against their recent rivals as they defended their titles in 17:21 when Kid Kash defeated Brother Ray by pinfall with a Money Maker. AK-47 make defence number 1 of their NWA TNA World Tag Team titles. C-

Following the match, Jimmy Hart speaks on behalf of Al Snow and Maven, who stand behind him. Hart says that his men will be the next Tag Team Champions. C-

FEAST OR FIRED QUALIFIER

Buff ‘The Puff’ Bagwell v Christian Cage

A good main event but a match that was not as good as two of the earlier Feast or Fired qualifying matches. Cage was in control of the match and looking almost certain to qualify when Rey Mysterio Jr ran to ringside. Buff, seeing this development feigned an ankle injury to distract Mickey Jay, allowing Mysterio to nail a couple of quick moves on Cage. Buff ‘recovered’ and took full advantage in 21:47 by pinfall with a Buff Blockbuster. Cage is left seething as Bagwell celebrates and Rey smiles at Cage, telling him to respect him now. C+

Show rating: C

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA’s popularity.
