Burn, Don't Freeze Tour - Show 20

(Wednesday 5th May 2010)

Kagawa Sports Field, Shikoku (Attendance 2,000 Super No Vacancy)

Commentators for this show: Toru Minamoto, Hidetada Kozu & Katsuhiko Shunsen

Pre- Show

Match A: Masutaro Kataoka vs Mitsunari Fuganaga

Kataoka got in enough offence to prevent this from being a squash, but 'Mr Serious' Fuganaga always looked more likely to pick up the victory, and he did so via his double underhook facebuster, the 'Who's Laughing Now'.

Result: Mitsunari Fuganaga [w] bt Masutaro Katoaka [L] in 4:39 via pinfall (Who's Laughing Now)

Rating: C

Match B: Yoshii Shiomi, VENOM & Toshiki Shibanumo vs The Incredible Koyama, White Samurai & Fukusabaru Inao

RAGE made it two for two on the pre-show as Shibanumo and Little Fury put away the trio of jobbers put in front of them. It was VENOM who secured the victory when he made Koyama tap out to the Sting in the Tail (Cross Kneelock).

Result: Yoshii Shiomi, VENOM [w] & Toshiki Shibanumo vs The Incredible Koyama [L], White Samurai & Fukusabaru Inao in 6:42 via submission (Sting in the Tail)

Rating: C-

Match #1: Optimum Impact (American Optimus & Super Joshuya) vs

Size of the Fight (Hyosuke Kokan & Kansuke Konda) vs

Universal Excellence (Barei Yasujiro & Haru Kurofuji)

As expected this three way Junior Tag match was fast, furious and seemingly always on the edge of breaking down into total chaos. Size of the Fight looked solid as a unit, Universal Excellence are becoming an increasingly fluid tag team and whilst the newly formed Optimum Impact didn't have the feel of a well oiled unit like their opponents they were fired up to make an impression, consistenly playing the role of spoilers by breaking up pin attempts from either Size of the Fight or Universal Studios after those unit's pulled off signature double teams.

The finish was the usual flurry of finishers with Super Joshuya falling victim to Size of the Fight's Big Fight Ender (Powerbomb/Neckbreaker combo) only for American Optimus to break up the pin from Kokan with an Ozone Sky Flier (Shooting Star Press)....Kansuke Konda then nailed Optimus with the Konda Kutter only to be planted with a Yasujiro Suplex (Electric Chair/German), Kokan made the save but then got planted with a German from Kurofuji and Yasujiro was able to follow up with a standing Shooting Star Press, to complete the Universal Studios combination and re-cement Universal Excellence as the top contenders to the Junior Tag Championship once again.

Result: Barei Yasujiro [w] & Haru Kurofuji bt Hyosuke Kokan [L] & Kansuke Konda + American Optimus & Super Joshuya in 12:55 via pinfall (Universal Studios)

Rating: B-

Post Match Comments:

Barei Yasujiro: Black Heart Flying Squadron you probably thought you were done with us, but we aren't going anywhere, because we WILL win those Junior Tag Titles from you.

Super Joshuya: OK so we didn't quite make the impact we would have wanted, but we didn't taste defeat either...OK we lost, but we weren't the ones to be defeated and American Optimus and I will make a massive impact on the Junior Tag scene, sooner rather than later.

Kansuke Konda: Black Heart Flying Squadron, Your New Heroes, Universal Excellence, Little Fury and now Optimum Impact with that Turncoat Super Joshuya...the Junior Tag scene here is tougher than it's ever been and we need to raise our game but we are Size of the Fight and we are ready to rise to the challenge.

Match #2: The Behemoths (Nisso Yuasha & Kanishoki) vs

Snow Lizzard (Sanetomo Shiraishi & Sessue Kawate)

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_NisshoYuasa-1.jpg & http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_Kanishoki.jpg

No one was expecting a classic match out of these two teams and thankfully for the fans (many of whom headed for the Sashimi/Ramen stands for his match) it was kept relatively short. Whilst more youthful/agile teams have now found a way to overcome The Behemoths incredible size and power, Snow Lizzard are simply too slow and broken down these days to negate that fact and it was Shiraishi who ate the pin this time after being on the receiving end of a Super Samoan Drop from Kanishoki.

Result: Nisso Yuasha & Kanishoki [w] bt Sanetomo Shiriashi [L] & Sessue Kawate in 5:50 via pinfall (Super Samoan Drop)

Rating: C-

Post Match Comments:

Nisso Yuasha: Every Damn fool wanna write The Behemoths off, but we ain't going anywhere....we are still the dominant force round here and those Tag Titles will be ours again.

Sanetomo Shiraishi: Many are saying it's about time myself and Kawate-san hung up the wrestling boots...all the losses we have suffered lately I am contemplating whether to heed their advice, but going out there competing every night is like a drug and whilst I am still able enough to compete I will continue to go out there and give it my best shot.

Match #3: Non Title:

Tadiyuki Kikkawa vs Roku Sotomura

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_TadiyukiKikkawa.jpg vs http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_RokuSotomura.jpg

Kikkawa as expected completely dominated Sotomura right off the bat, but a combination of Sotomura's determination not to simply lay down for Kikkawa, and the King of Fighters arrogantly expecting to put away Sotomura with weak offence, allowed for the competent technician Sotomura to sneak his way back into the match, and before Kikkawa knew it he was spiked with an Implant DDT.

Kikkawa was able to kick out of that but Sotomura remained focused and synched in the Ultimate Chinlock on Kikkawa. However the King of Fighters managed to dig down and force the rope break and somewhat angered that Sotomura would dare to try to 'embarass' him he stepped up a gear, destroying Sotomura with a series of Lariats before putting the seal on the inevitable victory with the Kikkawa Driver (Wrist Clutch DVD).

Overall an effective extended squash that put over both the dominance and arrogance of the King of Fighters but also allowed for Sotomura to briefly showcase his own ability.

Result: Tadiyuki Kikkawa [w] bt Roku Sotomura [L] in 9:12 via pinfall (Kikkawa Driver).

Rating: B-

Post Match Comments:

Tadiyuki Kikkawa: I'll give Sotomura-san some credit, he treats this sport with the respect it deserves and with the right guidance he could make something of himself...is he good enough to be part of Team INSPIRE ? Maybe if we ever decided to start up a B-Team !

Match #4: Sensational Dragon & Miyamae vs

Tasuku Iesada & John Pathlow

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_SensationalDragon_jhd21.jpg & http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/Miyamae-1.jpg?t=1268429694

vs

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/TasukuIesada.jpg?t=1268429656 & http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_HellMonkey_alt2.jpg

The fans were really into this fast paced tag match that pitted members of Dragon Feet 2K9 against opponents from Team INSPIRE. The match began very evenly with neither side really able to press home and advantage, until Iesada was able to crotch Sensational Dragon, following the Junior Champion's attempt to pull off a Dragon Slice.

Dragon was then worked over in the Team INSPIRE corner with Pathlow attempting to get the Sensational One to tap out to the Kimura Lock, but Dragon survived and a jaw dropping standing Shiranui/DDT combination on both Iesada and Pathlow created the opening for Dragon to get the tag into Miyamae. The 'Viper' as expected came in all fired up and cleaned house and almost got the victory with a Miyamae Spoiler (Swinging Reverse STO) on Iesada.

Pathlow managed to break that up but the number one contender to the Junior Title soon found himself snared in the Snake Poison (Anaconda Vice Submission) but Iesada managed to recover and save Pathlow just in time. From there things broke down a little with the match degenerating into a ringside brawl, with Dragon eventually clearing house with a springboard moonsault to the floor off the top turnbuckle.

Dragon then pitched Iesada back into the ring and waited for the Super 10 Cup winner to stagger to his feet before pulling off the Sensation Shock, to almost earn what would have been a notable upset victory for the Junior Champion, had it not been for the intervention of a stiff kick from John Pathlow.

Pathlow and Dragon the went back and forth with a strike battle with Dragon having seemingly gained the advantage to set up for a Dragon Slice but Pathlow was able to block and counter into a Bridging German Suplex. Dragon kicked out and then collided with Pathlow before being turned inside out with an APOCALYSPE LARIAT (Pendulum Rebound Lariat), Miyamae tried to make the save but Iesada was able to neutralise him from doing so, as Pathlow picked up a victory both in the physical and in the psychological sense over Sensational Dragon.

Result: Tasuku Iesada & John Pathlow [w] bt Sensational Dragon [L] & Miyamae in 17:19 via pinfall (Apocalypse Lariat)

Rating: B+

Post Match Comments:

John Pathlow (in English): Dragon you felt the full force today of the Apocalypse Lariat but I can beat you in so many different ways....I truly don't think you have faced someone like

Miyamae: Tonight we taste defeated but Dragon Feet 2K9 remains strong and when it truly counts we will emerge with the victories that matter.

Match #5: Hiroaki Nakasawa, Kinnojo Horri & Marihito Masuko vs Yasuhiko Taira, Yasunobu Masuno & Golden Scorpion

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/HiroakiNakasawa-1.jpg?t=1268429324http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_KinnojoHorri_jhdTiger11.jpghttp://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_MarihitoMasuko-1.jpg

vs

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_YasuhikoTaira-1.jpghttp://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/YasunobuMasuno-1.jpg?t=1268429402http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_GoldenScorpion-1.jpg

This was formula stuff but a typically solid six man tag with Marihito Masuko playing 'Spencer Marks' after the usually even-stevens start before surviving the 'beat-down' and getting in World Champion Hiroaki Nakasawa for the hot tag. Nakasawa 'cleaned house' but was not denied victory by Masuno after he had planted Golden Scorpion with the H-Bomb.

The match then broke down after that into a finisher trade-off with Taira looking to have won the match when he was able to cut Masuko off on the top-rope and drill the 'Painted Wonder' with the Wrecking Ball (Muscle Buster) only for Horri to break it up and then nail Taira with a Burning Lariat to secure the win fro the Burning Sekigun trio.

Result: Hiroaki Nakasawa, Kinnojo Horri [w] & Marihito Masuko vs Yasuhiko Taira [L], Yasunobu Masuno & Golden Scorpion in 17:57 via pinfall (Burning Lariat)

Rating: B

Post Match Comments:

Kinnojo Horri: I still desire to become World Champion but anyone doubting that the Burning Sekigun can remain united were proven wrong, everything is cool between Nakasawa-san and I since I challenged him for the belt and he knows I will come again but with the up-most respect for him as champion.

Hiroaki Nakasawa: Horri-san is right, the Burning Sekigun is stronger than ever and Black Heart Brethren found that out at their cost tonight.

Match #6: The Raging Bulls (Eiji Hamacho & Chuichi Sanda) vs

Wild Fire (Tadakuni Toshusai & Takayuki Onodera)

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/EijiHamacho-1.jpg?t=1268428711 & http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/ChuichiSanda-1.jpg?t=1268428734

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_TadakuniToshusai_USPW1.jpg & http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_TakayukiAvatar.jpg

With the chance to put themselves back in contention for a Tag Title shot, both teams were fired up for this and they showed that mindset instantly with the match soon breaking down into a wild brawl straight from the start, being the seasoned campaigners that they are the Raging Bulls soon took advantage of the situation and were able to isolate Onodera.

The Bulls however failed to put Onodera away and after a miscommunication with Hamacho catching Sanda with a wayward clothesline Onodera was able to get the hot tag into Toshusai. 'Wild Charisma' cleaned house and almost got the win with a Spine Shocker on Sanda only for Hamacho to break it up and then nail Toshusai with the (Bull Rush).

Toshusai kicked out but remained in trouble, as Sanda took care of Onodera on the outside. With Onodera seemingly incapitated by being sent hard into the guard-rail, the Bulls then looked to put Toshusai away but once again miscommunication problems reared their head once again, as Sanda missed the Running Boot as part of the Raging Impact, nailing Hamacho instead of his intended target of Toshusai.

Toshusai then nailed Sanda with the Shock Kick, and then nailed Hamacho with another. 'Wild Charisma' then lifted Hamacho up into a Wheelbarrow as Onodera re-entered the ring to combine with Toshusai on the 8 WAY SANTA (Wheelbarrow Facebuster/Cutter Combo) to secure the victory and stay ahead of the Raging Bulls in contention for the World Tag Team Championship.

Result: Tadakuni Toshusai [w] & Takayuki Onodera bt Eiji Hamacho [L] & Chuichi Sanda in 13:46 via pinfall (8 Way Santa)

Rating: B-

Post Match Comments:

Tadakuni Toshusai: WIIILD FIIIIRE, NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONNNNNNSSS !!, WIIIILD FIIIIRE, NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONNNNSSSS !!

Takayuki Onodera: My partner here hasn't gone completely mad, he's just seen the future and the future is us holding the Burning World Tag Team Titles !

Eiji Hamacho: Wild Fire count yourself lucky my partner here, goofed up but I'm sure it won't happen again.

Chuichi Sanda: I goofed up ? Oh that's right Hamacho-san blame it all on me, when it goes wrong as you always do.

Eiji Hamacho: What's that supposed to mean ?

Chuichi Sanda: You know full well what I mean Eiji ! You love to take all the glory when it all goes right for us, but when it goes wrong it's always my fault.....

Eiji Hamacho: That' because.....

Chuichi Sanda: That's because what ?

Eiji Hamacho: Forget it Chuichi, drop it, just drop it.

Match #7: Contenders Circle:

Masaaki Okazaki vs Shimedzu

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_MasaakiOkazaki.jpg vs http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_Shimedzu-1.jpg

A win here for Shimedzu would earn him a shot at the World Championship, whilst a victory for Okazaki would put him a step closer to earning a shot. They both started cautiously, feeling one another out with basic holds until Shimedzu tried to catch Okazaki by surprise with a quick roll-up. Okazaki kicked out of that and responded with a stiff kick, of which Shimedzu replied with one of his own.

The match then phased into a striking/kicking contest with neither of them giving an inch until Shimedzu was able to take Okazaki off his feet with a spinning leg sweep, before heading up top only for Okazaki to cut 'Kamikaze Spirit' off and bring Shimedzu crashing back into the ring with a superplex. That lead to a two count for the INSPIRE man who then tried to turn Shimedzu over for the Century Crab Lift only for Shimedzu to counter that by monkey flipping Okazaki out of the ring. Shimedzu then went for a slinghsot body press but crashed and burned into the guard-rail as Okazaki moved out of the way.

Okazaki then tried to sneak a win via countout but Shimedzu toughed it out and beat referee Terakado's twenty count. The pace of the match however did slow down as Okazaki worked over Shimedzu's back with stomps, snap suplexes and a kick barrage to set up for the Century Crab Lift. However when Okazaki did go to synch in his signature submission Shimedzu was ready for it again, slipping out and then nailing Okazaki with a jumping rounhouse kick before planting the INSPIRE man on the canvas with a Revolution Drop (Twisting Inverted Brainbuster)....

Too worn down Shimedzu was unable to follow up immediately, but did continue to seize back the advantage by nailing Okazaki with a Life Flasher (Rebound Running Boot) for a two count. Shimedzu then set up for the Skull-Drop (Spiked Brainbuster) but Okazaki was able to block and counter with an implant DDT. Okazaki then planted Shimedzu with an Exploder suplex for a two count, before setting up for his more feared Wristclutch version the Okazaki Explosion but Shimedzu was able to fight out and then stun Okazaki with a leaping roundhouse before drilling Okazaki with the SKULL DROP.

To Shimedzu and the crowd's disbelief Okazaki managed to kick out. Shimedzu then decided to head up top only for Okazaki to find another wind and cut Shimedzu off but the Dragon Feet 2K9 man was able to block Okazaki's attempt at an avalanche Exploder Suplex shoving the INSPIRE man off, before spiking Okazaki into the canvas with a leaping DDT before smoothly transitioning into the INSURREXION DEVICE (Guillotine Choke). Okazaki tried desperately to struggle free but began to quickly fade and in the end referee Terakado saw no choice but to call for the bell, giving Shimedzu the victory and the chance to compete for the World Championship.

Result: Shimedzu [w] bt Masaaki Okazaki in 20:39 via submission (Insurrexion Device)

Rating: B-

Post Match Comments:

Shimedzu: I'm sure many will say I don't have what it takes to be World Champion but I have earned my shot and I will prove my doubters wrong.

Masaaki Okazaki: Shimedzu-san tonight you got lucky, right now you are a flash in the pan and when it's all said and done, you will fade back to Tag Team obscurity and I will be the one winning championships!

Match #8: Junior Contenders Circle:

Black Cobra vs Elemental III

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_DuaneStone_alt1.jpg vs http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_ElementalIII.jpg

These two had an excellent Contenders Circle match last month and with that recent history they have been given the ball so to speak, to main event a show. In their previous encounter Black Cobra emerged with the victory, would it be the same result this time round and would they be able to top that match?

After a tentative feeling out process the match began with some slick chain wrestling with the youthful Elemental III keeping pace with the experienced Black Cobra and with the gaijin veteran unable to set the pace of the match, he was soon becoming frustrated.

After wriggling free of potentially being planted with an Elemental Suplex, Cobra bailed out of the ring and went for a powder, but the 'Third Generation Icon' wasn't going to fall for Cobra's mind games and patiently waited for the BHB man to get back into the ring. Cobra was met with a flurry of kicks from Elemental III before the Burning Sekigun man set up for an Elemental Suplex only for Cobra to find a way out by resorting to sneaking in a low blow by flicking his back heel up into Elemental III's crotch and with BHOTWG policy to encourage all matches to end with a proper finish, Cobra knew he would get away with just a warning from Umeki for his foul play.

Elemental III managed to kick out of a sneaky roll up from Cobra, but 'Canadian Darkness' was now in control of the match. Slowing the pace down as he worked over Elemental III's legs, as he looked to 'ground' the high flyer and to set up for the Stone Hold. Cobra feeling that Elemental III was significantly weakened then tried to turn the 'Third Generation Icon' over for the revered submission but Elemental III stood firm and kicked Cobra away.

Cobra then came charging back at Elemental III only to be nailed with a leg lariat from the Burning Sekigun man, which staggered Cobra back against the ring-ropes before Elemental III nailed Cobra with a standing drop-kick that sent the gaijin masked man out of the ring.

Still the effects of the work Cobra had put in on his legs, Elemental III then 'hopped' round the ring to get some life back into them...which allowed for Cobra to get back up on the apron and soon enough 'Canadian Darkness' was climbing to the top turnbuckle but Elemental III was now recovered himself and cut Cobra off to bring the BHB man crashing back into the ring with a hurracanrana.

Cobra however was able to roll through into a bridging roll-up and almost caught Elemental III by surprise, but Elemental III then rolled through out of that and soon had a Double Arm lock on both of Cobra's arms to then plant the BHB man with an ELEMENTAL SUPLEX !

Cobra kicked out, but Elemental III managed to maintain the double arm lock and planted Cobra with another ELEMENTAL SUPLEX !

Cobra managed to kick out at the last split second again much to the frustration of Elemental III....who after pondering what to do next then decided to head up top but as he steadied himself for the Inferno Splash, Cobra 'conveniently' staggered against the Ring Ropes causing the 'Third Generation Icon' to lose his balance and crotch himself on the top-rope.

After peppering Elemental III with a series of fore-arm shots on the top turbuckle, Cobra then brought a dazed Elemental III crashing back into the ring with a Superplex, that lead to a two count before Cobra then planted the Burning Sekigun man with a STONEPLEX (Bridging Northern Lights Suplex)......

One......

Elemental III managed to kick out but Cobra was now the one sensing victory and set Elemental III up for the DEATH BY COBRA (Double Wrist Clutch Powerbomb) but Elemental III was able to stand firm, blocking the move, wriggling free and then taking Cobra by surprise with a Reverse STO that he transitioned into the ELEMENTAL CLUTCH (Koji Clutch)......

With Elemental III's leg wrapped around his neck Cobra was beginning to fade and referee Umeki checked on the BHB man's condition.....

Umeki raised Cobra's arm.....

No response......

Umeki gave Cobra another chance to respond......

Still no response......

Umeki took one last look........

This time Cobra responded, finding enough energy to dig down and force the rope break. Colour Commentator Katsuhiko Shunsen brought up the point that the work Cobra had done earlier on Elemental III's legs may have come back to save him, as Elemental III was perhaps unable to apply as much pressure as he would have liked to have done with the Elemental Clutch.

After the rope-break Cobra decided to take a powder to try and re-group but a fired up Elemental III was keen to keep the pressure on and was setting himself up for his signature Elemental Space Flying Drop (No Hands Somersault Plancha) only to put the brakes on when he saw Cobra move out of the way and then come soaring through the ropes to nail Cobra with a suicide dive, driving the gaijin masked man back first agains the guard-rail.

Elemental III then lifted a dazed Cobra up onto the apron, and then attempted to set up for an EARTH BREAKER on the apron but Cobra was able to block and then reverse into the DEATH BY COBRA ! Elemental III back crashed against the hard ringframe, and then writhing in agony he slumped to the floor as an equally worn down Black Cobra rolled into the ring hoping that would be enough to earn the victory by count-out as Umeki began a twenty count.......

Seventeen.....

Elemental III somehow, just somehow managed to find enough energy to left to roll into the ring and Cobra was quick to pounce as he looked to get a quick pin on the 'Third Generation Icon'

Elemental III barely had anything left but just enough to kick out, Cobra then tried again but once again a determined Elemental III still had just about enough left to the increasing frustration of Cobra who then decided to head up top to then come soaring off with the FROM CANADA WITH LOVE (Swandive Headbutt)......

But Cobra crashed and burned as Elemental III moved out of the way at the last split second.........

As both then staggered back up their feet, they then wearily fired away at one another with fore-arm smashes, until Elemental III was able to seize the momentum by reeling off his trademark Tri-Fecta kick series...the final high spin kick leaving Cobra dazed enough for the Third Generation Icon to plant Cobra with an EARTH BREAKER (Double Underhook Powerbomb).........

One........

Two.......

Thr........

Cobra kicked out but remained firmly rooted to the mat and Elemental III somewhat gingerly headed up top, but this time he was able to pull off the INFERNO SPLASH (Corkscrew 450 Splash)..........

But as it turns out he had taken too much time to pull off the crowd pleasing finishing move,as Cobra had regained his senses to get the knees up as Elemental III came crashing down upon him......

Cobra then continued to seize control of the situation turning Elemental III over into the STONE HOLD (Sharpshooter)......

Elemental III tried desperately to fight through the pain, but feeling the effects of having his legs worked over and with Cobra applying pressure to his lower back that was still the effects of being slammed against the ring apron...the pain was becoming too much to bear and in the end the 'Third Generation Icon' saw no other option but to TAP OUT !

Elemental III had put up a brave fight and took Cobra to the absolute limit in a match where both pulled out all the stops, showing just how much being able to challenge for the Junior Championship means to either them and also rising to the occasion of being given the chance to main event and there was little doubt here that they let the BHOTWG officials down as this will be match tape traders will be talking highly of for years to come.

Result: Black Cobra [w] bt Elemental III in 26:39 via submission (Stone Hold)

Rating: A

Post Match Comments:

Black Cobra (in English): Masuko-san I will be coming for you next, I've taken care of your buddy and then it'll be me and you again, it just has to be me and you again and after I've done with you, you freak...I'm gonna win the Junior Championship and I don't care if it's Dragon or Pathlow that I have to beat for it.

Elemental III: I gave it my best shot tonight, but my best simply wasn't enough but another day will come and when that day comes I will grab the opportunity it will bring me and be better than ever.

_________________________________________________________

Overall: A

Onodera's Viewpoint: Putting Cobra and Elemental III in the main event was a gamble I tried on a small market show and wow did that gamble pay off, as they produced the best match in BHOTWG all year (this was nearly an A* match) and according to the ARSEHOLES scale that was enough to get this somewhat 'throwaway' show rated as our best of the year. This wasn't really a show I would say I put much special planning into (as I pointed out it was in small market location) and I actually think as an overall show we have produced better on the tour but a really strong main event is ultimately what leaves a lasting impression and there is little doubt that Black Cobra and Elemental III produced on here. I better restrain myself from booking these two against each other all the time and bleeding this potential cash cow dry.

Rob4590 continues to lead the way, over the 8 people who still care enough to get in predictions :p

Anyway most figured that both Black Cobra and Shimedzu would go over in the contenders circles matches, as right now they seem to have a stronger direction than their respective opponents in Elemental III and Masaaki Okazaki. The Dragon Feet 2K9 - Team INSPIRE Tag match also caused few problems with most realising that it is simply booking 101 with Pathlow picking up a victory over Dragon heading into their Junior Title showdown plus the fact that Iesada has been booked stronger than Miyamae and the Six Man Tag was a case of the Burning Sekigun side just have that bit more star power.

It was the Bulls- Wild Fire match and the Junior Tag 3 way that caused the most split in opinion. Both the Bulls and Wild Fire have had recent shots at the Tag Titles and it was a case of whose opportunity would come round again. I chose Wild Fire, because I feel they have a solid feud to build with Black Magic, whilst I have other plans for the Raging Bulls. The Junior 3 way is a match that could have gone to any of the three teams, but I went with continuing to establish Universal Excellence as a growing force.

All the other matches were pretty much straight forward picks, though I was surprised to see many pick Kataoka to go over Fuganaga in the pre show match. Fuganaga may have been suspended for the fan altercation but he has done his time and he's not being punished anymore and though he's hardly 'world beater' material at this stage he is higher up the card than Kataoka.

Man, I'm stinking up the joint on predictions there. Gotta pull myself together...

A main event for an A show. Nice. The recap for that main event really delivered, too.

What hurt your predictions, is that you backed the wrong horses in the main event/semi main event and they you really did stink up the joint in the pre-show matches.

Even after the A Rated main event, I was still only expecting a B+ for the overall show score, so I was pleasantly surprised to get an A. Cobra- Elemental must have been a high A (close to A*) and it is the best match I have booked in BHOTWG thus far.

The Onodera Diaries

According to the wrestling press the show in Shikoku was worthy of being an A Rated show, the first under my tenure. Thing is I wasn't even aiming for something that high, Shikoku is a small market and it's a show where we would have been happy enough with a solid B rating. Putting Black Cobra and Elemental III in the main event was a gamble but one that definitely paid off and the 2000 fans who turned up to a sold out Kagawa Sports Field that night were witness to something pretty special.

I'm not saying I would take back the high praise the Shikoku show has received, it was just a surprise to see it get turn out that way. Now I have to go and prove to everyone that this was no one off fluke and continue to 'raise the bar'.

Shimedzu will be challenging for the World Championship at Sword of Destiny. Thus far his singles push has seen him do OK without really setting the world alight and his match with Okazaki was solid but seemed to lack sparkle. Perhaps the fans just aren't buying him as a top singles threat and maybe they've been too conditioned over the years that the little guys can't take down the real heavyweights. Then again that theory doesn't stand up as Iesada-san has established himself as a legit main eventer and Haruki Kudo was Burning Hammer's most iconic wrestler before his departure from the company. I think it's more a case that Shimedzu has been a Tag guy for so long that he is trying to shake off the stigma off being seeing as that in the eyes of the fans.

How Shimedzu does against Nakasawa at Sword of Destiny will determine just how much legs this singles push of his has. I will admit it is a major gamble to have this match headline Sword of Destiny, but sometimes you have to take risks, otherwise things become stale and the fans become disinterested regardless.

The Burning Hammer Move-set of the week:

Click on the links to check out the most feared moves in the arsenal of the 'Gold and Black Attack' current Junior Tag Team Champion:

Golden Scorpion

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q236/Tigerkinney/th_GoldenScorpion-1.jpg

Aneurysm Brainbuster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPBJWF23VRI

The most feared move in Golden Scorpion's arsenal the Aneurysm Brainbuster is a devastating avalanche brainbuster that see's him drop his opponents head on the top turnbuckle. The move is easily counterable due to the amount of set up Scorpion needs to put into place, but if he is able to pull it off, the effects are devastating for his opponent.

Brainbuster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WV2aBJa8YUE

The bread and butter move of Scorpion's move set, though capable of finishing off weak opponents, the sheer-drop Brainbuster is mostly used as a move to help incapitate his opponent enough for him to pull off the Golden Shot.

Golden Shot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsbiA...eature=related

Often seen following the Brainbuster, Scorpion's beautiful slinghot leg-drop has finished off many opponents over the years.

Scorpion Stinger: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KiQOCEGDOs

The move most associated with and innovated by Golden Scorpion, the Scorpion Stinger is the move that has brought the 'Gold and Black Attack' most of his victories over the years. Able to take his opponent by surprise at any time with this crowd popping move, this Leg Hook Sunset Flip Powerbomb doesn't just look pretty it is also highly effective, delivering enough of a shock to his opponent to ensure that they are down for the three count.

Scorpion Deathlock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2G2y...eature=related

Scorpion isn't particularly noted for hold for hold submission based wrestling, but he has on occasion found victory via this version of the famous Stone Hold submission invented by the legendary Dan Stone. Some say that fellow BHB member Black Cobra taught him the move, though this has yet to be confirmed by either of them.

O.O.C Note: I originally posted this feature a couple pages back, just as a filler piece/page bumper whilst I was putting the (at the time) next show together but I have seen potential to expand it as a feature and help bring to life the featured wrestlers move-set even more. Golden Scorpion still count's as last weeks Move-set of the week. So do Burning Hamemr fans wish to se featured next?

Preview for the next show is hopefully coming tomorrow, if I haven't been crippled from the gym session I've signed up to with a personal trainer.

The Contenders Circle (W/C Monday 3rd May 2010)

Shimedzu's victory over Masaaki Okazaki gave him the required second contenders circle victory (without loss) to earn him a shot at the World Championship held by Hiroaki Nakasawa. Shimedzu will get his shot at the Sword of Destiny PPV (Fri 21 May). Tasuku Iesada's failure to win the title from Nakasawa means that he now drops to #3, behind Shimedzu and Horri.

In the Junior Division, Black Cobra and Marihito Masuko both maintained the the #2 and #3 spots with victories over Elemental III and The Awesome Kiyaru respectively and it is expected that their increasingly bitter rivalry will come to a head with a contenders match pencilled in for Sword of Destiny.

O.O.C Note:

This diary is not coming to an end, but you will see some lack of posts for it over the next month. I've decided for now I am just going to concentrate on getting the next batch of shows written up, without putting myself under the pressure of churning out a preview, then churning out the next show like a production line.

Just feel like I need to come at this with a slightly different approach in order to stave off the potential of burnout. If I feel this new approach to diary writing works for me then it may be what I continue with. With the diary alternating being active one month and less active the next month. It's not like I'll be disappearing, you'll still see me around on these boards, I just won't be posting much in here for the forseeable future.

The Life Flasher is a Running Boot with extra momentum gained by Shimedzu rebounding off the ring-ropes. Tiger you should never doubt your work sir. I may not be a fan of BHOTWG. Your skills as a writer make me come in from time to time and see how what I can improve on myself. But that is just my two cents sir. Keep it going if you choose to.

I think activity is down across the board, which makes sense as the game has been out over 9 months at this point, and interest is probably starting to wane. I went from double digits predictions to only 4 for my biggest show of the diary. It happens, and generally if you stick it through, some will come back, or new people will take an interest.

Thanks for the words of encouragement...though I was feeling more jaded with regards in keeping the diary going about a week ago. What D-Mack said about general drop-off in interest across the board is something I came to realise myself a few days ago and I also realised that writing a diary is something I really do enjoy and helps enhance the experience of the game for myself, and I'm sure that's something that applies to all the diary writers on here.

I just need to take things at my own pace and not feel as though I need to knock things out to a regular schedule and if I get three people making predictions or thirty people for each show it doesn't matter as long as I enjoy writing the diary.

This is very true, I think. I know I came to similar conclusions about why to write and continue. I hope you continue at your pace too. I like to stop in here and read from time to time. :)

BHOTWG continue their Burn Don't Freeze Tour , as they return 'home' to the Tochigi Sports Stadium in Kanto on Monday 10th May. The main event is a special attraction Tag Team showdown with the King of Fighters Tadiyuki Kikkawa and John Pathlow representing Team INSPIRE taking on the Dragon Feet 2K9 duo of the current number one contender to the World Championship Shimedzu and the man Pathlow will challenge for the Junior Championship at Sword of Destiny Sensational Dragon.

The quest to find the next challenger for Kikkawa's King of Fighters title also begins with the semi main event seeing recent World Title challenger Kinnojo Horri take on Shimedzu's tag team partner Miyamae in a KOF Rules match.

In what looks to be a stacked show from top to bottom the crowd will also be treated to not just one but both sets of Tag Team Championships being put on the line in a pair of rematches from Test of Prophecies as Wild Fire look for revenge and glory against Black Magic as they challenge once again for the World Tag Team Championship and Universal Excellence will be looking to not just take the Black Heart Flying Squadron to the limit but to dethrone them, as they get another chance to win the Junior Tag Team Championship.

There wil be further tag team action as the Team INSPIRE duo of Tasuku Iesada and Masaaki Okazaki take on Tag Team veterans Snow Lizzard and World Champion teams up with Marihito Masuko and Elemental III to take on the RAGE trio of Eiji Hamacho, Chuichi Sanda and Toshiki Shibanumo in six man action and in Junior Tag action Size of the Fight take on the newly formed duo of Optimum Impact which has the added spice of the fact that Optimum Impact's Super Joshuya recently defected from the Burning Sekigun faction that SOTF represent.

Rounding out the main show will be a singles match that see's one of BHOTWG's premier Junior Heavyweights Black Cobra take on RAGE's Mitsunari Fuganaga.

For those who can get to the Tochigi Sports Stadium early, bonus action includes Little Fury taking on the duo of Red Panther and Stone Yoshikawa, whilst Masutaro Kataoka and Fukusubaru Inao meet in singles action.

Tadiyuki Kikkawa & John Pathlow vs Shimedzu & Sensational Dragon

While I actually doubt Kikkawa will allow his team to lose, even with Pathlow taking the fall, storyline wise, this would be a big victory for Shimedzu heading into his run at the championship.

KOF Rules: Kinnojo Horri vs Miyamae

With Horri taking a back seat in the world title picture, aiming him at the KOF title makes sense.

World Tag Team Championship:

Black Magic (Masuno & Taira) vs Wild Fire (Toshusai & Onodera)

I expect Wild Fire to offer a serious threat, but the Mullets have nothing better to do than raise the prestige of the tag belts right now.

Junior Tag Team Championship:

Black Heart Flying Squadron (Kiyaru & Scorpion) vs Universal Excellence (Yasujiro & Kurofuji)

Despite my fondness for the WLW crew, they haven't had the sustained success necessary to go over Kiyaru & Scorpion

Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki vs Snow Lizzard (Shiraishi & Kawate)

squash

Hiroaki Nakasawa, Elemental III & Marihito Masuko vs Eiji Hamacho, Chuichi Sanda & Toshiki Shibanumo

squash

Size Of The Fight (Kokan & Konda) vs Optimum Impact (Optimus & Joshuya)

To be taken seriously, Optimum Impact needs that first big win.

Black Cobra vs Mitsunari Fuganaga

Little Fury (VENOM & Shiomi) vs Red Panther & Stone Yoshikawa

name team wins

Fukusubaru Inao & Masutaro Kataoka

Fukusubaru Inao & Masutaro Kataoka

coin flip

I concur with Mr. Mack. Except for the main event, I think. I agree with his reasoning, but I bet Kikkawa still takes the win, letting Shimedzu shine a bit in the loss.

Tadiyuki Kikkawa & John Pathlow vs Shimedzu & Sensational Dragon

I agree with Dragonmack here, Shimedzu could use the win here though I´m also little sceptical whatever Kikkawa allows it to happen.

KOF Rules: Kinnojo Horri vs Miyamae

Horri is simply bigger name here

World Tag Team Championship:

Black Magic (Masuno & Taira) vs Wild Fire (Toshusai & Onodera)

Not a time for a change yet

Junior Tag Team Championship:

Black Heart Flying Squadron (Kiyaru & Scorpion) vs Universal Excellence (Yasujiro & Kurofuji)

I simply like these guys better

Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki vs Snow Lizzard (Shiraishi & Kawate)

Squash

Hiroaki Nakasawa, Elemental III & Marihito Masuko vs Eiji Hamacho, Chuichi Sanda & Toshiki Shibanumo

Too much star power on one side and on top of that there is problems with Raging Bulls

Size Of The Fight (Kokan & Konda) vs Optimum Impact (Optimus & Joshuya)

Though I basicly agree with others about Impact needing the win here more I still go with Size of the Fight mainly because they are lot more experienced as a tag team.

Black Cobra vs Mitsunari Fuganaga

Squash

Little Fury (VENOM & Shiomi) vs Red Panther & Stone Yoshikawa

Named team over random pairing

Fukusubaru Inao & Masutaro Kataoka

random pick

Tadiyuki Kikkawa & John Pathlow vs Shimedzu & Sensational Dragon

Shimedzu should get a win thanks to Sensational Dragon

KOF Rules: Kinnojo Horri vs Miyamae

Not too familiar with the KOF Rules matches but Horri should win this

World Tag Team Championship:

Black Magic (Masuno & Taira) vs Wild Fire (Toshusai & Onodera)

WIIIIILLLLLLDDD FIIIIIIIRRREEEEE!!!!! NEEEEWWW TAAAAGG CHHHAAAMMMPPPSS!!!

Junior Tag Team Championship:

Black Heart Flying Squadron (Kiyaru & Scorpion) vs Universal Excellence (Yasujiro & Kurofuji)

Kiyaru and Scorpion are going to take a tour through Universal Studios

Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazakivs Snow Lizzard (Shiraishi & Kawate)

As much as I like Snow Lizzard (I really do), this one is a mismatch

Hiroaki Nakasawa, Elemental III & Marihito Masuko vs Eiji Hamacho, Chuichi Sanda & Toshiki Shibanumo

In Masuko's voice: Raging Bulls, you are beginning to see the demise of your once powerful union that will be destroyed by one's superiority over the other.

Size Of The Fight (Kokan & Konda) vs Optimum Impact (Optimus & Joshuya)

Cool sounding name for a cool looking tag team...sorry size of the fight

Black Cobra vs Mitsunari Fuganaga

Fuganaga will put up a good fight but the Black Cobra will strike and strike without warning

Little Fury (VENOM & Shiomi) vs Red Panther & Stone Yoshikawa

Little Fury...Big talent

Fukusubaru Inao vs Masutaro Kataoka

random match but this one won't be in the main show I bet

Tadiyuki Kikkawa & John Pathlow vs Shimedzu & Sensational Dragon

I'm going to be different and go for the time limit draw. Kikkawa is head and shoulders above the other three at this point, but Pathlow has already got a tag win over Dragon last time, so another win is overkill. However, giving Kikkawa a loss is always a bad move, so that only leaves the draw, with Shimedzu looking dangerous.

KOF Rules: Kinnojo Horri vs Miyamae

No brainer

World Tag Team Championship:

Black Magic (Masuno & Taira) vs Wild Fire (Toshusai & Onodera)

Seems a strange show to have this re-match on? Will go with the challengers just to freshen up the division, and possibly free the Mullets up for the CC.

Junior Tag Team Championship:

Black Heart Flying Squadron (Kiyaru & Scorpion) vs Universal Excellence (Yasujiro & Kurofuji)

However close UE get, they are still 'invaders' and the home grown boys get the job done

Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki vs Snow Lizzard (Shiraishi & Kawate)

Hiroaki Nakasawa, Elemental III & Marihito Masuko vs Eiji Hamacho, Chuichi Sanda & Toshiki Shibanumo

Two straightforward one sided affairs here

Size Of The Fight (Kokan & Konda) vs Optimum Impact (Optimus & Joshuya)

Much as you pushed SOTF in the previous diary, they simply cannot win here, otherwise the whole defection of Joshuya becomes a total non event

Black Cobra vs Mitsunari Fuganaga

Little Fury (VENOM & Shiomi) vs Red Panther & Stone Yoshikawa

2 squashes

Fukusubaru Inao & Masutaro Kataoka

Inao is slightly younger, but both are still jobbers
