Kobe1724 Render Thread

Recommended Posts

<p>I don't think I've made a render thread yet for TEW 2010. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Basically any renders I do from now on that aren't for the community project will be put here. ^_^</p><p> </p><p>

You can use them for private games, but please don't use them for anything public. If you want to use something for a diary I don't really mind, just shoot me a PM and give me credit. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I'm currently doing two rendering styles. I'm doing all of the females renders for the community project which you can find it that topic. However, I'm also re-rendering and adding to the more realistic styled renders that were initially being done for the community project. Cutting all the textures and models that aren't tight, and improving on the other stuff with post work and some other tricks I've picked up in photo shop. They're part of another project that isn't necessarily TEW related, but I've been cutting them to TEW anyway. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Wow, those look awesome!!!! I'm inspired now. I don't want to twist your arm Kobe but I think you should put them in the community mod.

Looks like Tom Cruise, George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Did I get it right?

i think by the two of you working together you'll both take rendering to a higher level.

Yeah you got it right. :)

The only reason I haven't put them in the community mod is that I use M3 to render males and don't have the morphs needed to do agers with it (I don't know that M3 even has any decent built in morphs). I use custom textures + model files done externally and then load them into daz using a morph program when rendering with M3. I like what comes from the result, but it would take an eternity for me to do agers for all these. :o Most people on the community team liked the idea of agers a lot (I agreed), so I decided to use V4/M4 and do a more cartoony style which would allow me render faster and use agers. The renders are less detailed and I'm not as used to rendering that way, but I'll pick up some tricks and get better as I continue. :)

I'm learning M4 right now though (mainly where everything is and what it can/can't do), and age morphs are built into that model so hopefully I can do something similar to the above with that. Also reading some books on 3dsmax because I'm interested in game design/modeling, but maybe I can use some of the stuff that comes out of that in TEW as well. ^_^

hellshock, thanks for the compliment. :D

Looking at fusionfreak's work actually inspired me a lot because as when I studied the way he did his renders I realized that a lot of what makes a render look good is also in how you position it/scale it against a backdrop/space. Previously I would just spend a bunch of time messing with uber environment to make a light interact with a render in a way that I liked. But then I'd compress a render down and lose all this detail and not want to lose anymore so I'd make the image overly large on the backdrop and lose a lot of the render for the sake of preserving a few myopic details.

I've never really liked rendering away from the camera when making cuts, and I love the way Sebs did his renders front on, but I'm seeing now that you can have a bit of variance in a pose and still make something look good/appropriate. :)

My 2 cents.

I've got a business ethics class in 2 hours and have to do some reading for it. When I get back I'm going to punch out 5-10 female renders for the community project and maybe play around with M4.

I hated M4 when I first got it. Felt wrong. Took 3-4 months before I bit the bullet and started actual using it.

Good looking renders. At first glance they seemed a little drab, but that's more the background than the actual dudes. The Clooney is scary recognizable. I'm not sold on having too much posing for headshots, as it can make the musculature in the shoulders look weird, but that's just me. Great stuff so far. Keep on truckin'.

Yeah, particularly on the Beckham/last one I think I played too many games with the head and it seems like it floats in a few of the renders. I'll play with it some more later, I think. :)

I'll pick up M4 eventually. I need to texture a little differently with it, though, and also get familiar with all of the additional things that work with it's head model so that I can create morphs for it outside of Daz (which is limited in what it can do by the built on constraints of the model).

Maybe I should have toned down the recognition on Clooney. :) I didn't want people to look at the renders and know exactly who it was, I just wanted to loosely base the renders off of certain people. ^_^

personally I think the Tom Cruise is much more noticable then any of the rest.

that'll be cool. an update for here, right? or do you mean the communityverse? or both?

I meant a communityverse update, although it wouldn't be hard for me to update this if I took a few hours since the original models are still saved (I've just been making minor lighting changes, re-posing and re-rendering for the most part).

that question was 50% serious and 50% keeping your thread from dropping back a page. Kept me from using a simple "bump" quote like I've seen other threads use. LOL

Been playing with lighting and shadows all week long. Here is my first render under a new light source I've been tweaking. :)

I just slapped it on a background and added some mosaics to the chest because I forgot to render it behind something and add a shirt.

There's no way I'm waiting 15 minutes for this to re-render right now, so this will do until I pose it/add some accessories etc. later. I'll might add it to the community project as Teagan Erickson (the worker I had in mind when rendering it), but I dunno yet. Haven't done any agers and that would be a 45 minute process so :(.

Whats the light source?

I'm using uberenvironment 2 (the sky pre-set) and occlusion based lighting with soft shadows for the above two renders. The intensity is low 40's and the actual light source is one of the pre-sets from - nevermind, a picture is worth 1000 words. ^_^

As far as the renders on the grey BG, I'm just using a lighting pre-set called Halena lights with the contrast bumped up a bit. The realistic looking effect is moreso a product of the texture and morphs than the actual lighting.

Note to self: Re-render the 4/23/10 render.

I like it and I know you're gonna get even better since I noticed you're studying other peoples style. ;)

AMAZING!!! Do you take requests?

If it's fun I'll do it. Send me a PM and I'll see. :)

Thanks btw hellshock. ^_^

Didn't get as many renders done this weekend because I just kept playing around with stuff instead of continuing to render. Worked out most of the kinks in the first render I posted though (thanks to Clarity's tips):

Now it's time to figure out how to utilize bump maps and spotlights to get more realistic skin. ^_^

I wish I could render stuff with this much detail for the community project but I'd never manage to do renders for all of the workers because a render takes about 55 minutes to finish with this light/environment setup.

26 a day if you give up sleeping for more then 45 minutes at a time LOL :p

about 2 and a half months of that to hit your mark for the mod

it would probably take a year to do them all with this style in a realistic timeframe and not make your life revolve around it. ;)

life comes first :D (i think you said that didn't you?)

plus, you do great work anyway

I have finals through the 7th. I've been studying non-stop.

I have a month off after this, though. :)

LOL that comment was in general for this thread, the communityverse and several other threads i check on.

plus it bumped this thread back to the first page. ;)
