I'm going to take my first shot at predicting on someones diary in awhile.

ECW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

SHANE DOUGLAS © -vs- TAZ

- Shane Douglas is truly The Franchise of ECW and I usually wouldn't predict against him but there a couple of reason I will.1)He has had the title since November 97.2)This feud has been built up for months and this should be that big payoff with Taz winning.3)Taz is overdue for a world title run, at this point I think he was the biggest star in ECW and he needs to hold the belt.

STAIRWAY TO HELL LADDER MATCH

JUSTIN CREDIBLE -vs- TOMMY DREAMER

- I think this feud still has life in it and for it to continue Credible needs to go over here.

ECW WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

ROB VAN DAM © -vs- MASATO TANAKA

- Glad to see Tanaka back from japan earlier than in real life. He still won't win in my opinion but I think this will be a good contest. I see Awesome returning to ECW a few months early as well and costing Tanaka the match. Getting revenge for his previous two ECW defeats and kick starting their feud in America.

LANCE STORM -vs- JERRY LYNN -vs- CHRIS CANDIDO

- One member of Triple Threat has to look strong. That is if you keep Triple Threat around seeing as their is only two members right now. Hope you find a third man and keep them going. Candido winning could continue Taz-Douglas feud with Candido facing Taz next month. This also allows Storm & Lynn's feud with no one getting the upperhand due to this match. Although I could see you having Lynn pin Storm to make it 1-1 against each other

YOSHIHIRO TAJIRI -vs- SUPER CRAZY

- Even though Tajiri will probably win just like IRL, I am going to pick Crazy just because everyone else picked Tajiri so I am going to seperate myself from the crowd.

THE FULL BLOODED ITALIANS -vs- DANNY DORING and AMISH ROADKILL

- FBI weren't winning much during these days and I expect that to continue here.

ECW GUILTY AS CHARGED 1999 RESULTS

Week 2, January 1999

Sunday on Pay-Per-View

Live from The Olympic Center [Lake Placid, NY]

Dark Match: Hardcore Chair Swingin’ Freaks def. Tony Mamaluke and Ulf Herman in 3:37 via pinfall [33]

Dark Match: Skull Von Krush def. John Kronus in 3:45 via pinfall [26]

Dark Match: Stevie Richards and Super Nova def. The Tennessee Cowboys in 5:43 via pinfall [37]

Joey Styles is in the ring, and welcomes everyone to Guilty as Charged – Live on pay-per-view! Styles talks us through the card for tonight, starting with the ECW Championship being on the line between the reigning champion ‘The Franchise’ Shane Douglas and the man who has ‘cashed-in’ his payment for removing Sabu – ‘the Human-Suplex Machine’ Taz. We also have Justin Credible and Tommy Dreamer in a Stairway to Hell Ladder match; whilst Rob Van Dam defends his Television Title against Masato Tanaka. [48]

The opening video set to “This Is Extreme” by Harry Slash and The Slashtones shows the recent history of our three main matches and closes with the pull-apart brawl between Shane Douglas and Taz from this past weekend’s Hardcore TV. [56]

Full Blooded Italians -vs- Danny Doring and Amish Roadkill

We open the show with a solid tag team bout, with both sides looking to make their mark on the division. The Italians, accompanied by Tommy Rich, had the advantage in the opening exchanges as they used their numbers advantage to nullify the speed of Danny Doring. When Doring managed to tag in the much larger Roadkill, the tide turned and Guido and Smothers were put onto the back foot. After squashing both men with a big splash in the corner, Roadkill brought Doring back into the match and lifted Smothers up in a bearhug. Doring hit the ropes, and connected with the Lancaster Lariat of Lust to leave Smothers down – but Guido and Rich managed to take Roadkill out of commission with a double clothesline to the outside. Doring was left distracted and fell victim to the Sicilian Slice from Little Guido and the FBI had the victory.

Little Guido def. Danny Doring in 9:56 via pinfall [39]

We go to a previously recorded promo from Taz – who talks about how tonight is his night; and how tonight Shane Douglas will be left motionless in the centre of the ring while Taz stands tall as the new ECW Heavyweight Champion of the World as Taz takes his title. [60]

Super Crazy -vs- Yoshihiro Tajiri

Our second bout of the show saw two foreign stars battle as Yoshihiro Tajiri of Japan and Super Crazy of Mexico went head to head. Both men seemed off their game as the opening exchanges were sloppy; with Super Crazy eventually gaining the upper hand when he sent Tajiri to the floor. Crazy got the crowd going by landing a picture perfect corkscrew plancha to the outside; before rolling Tajiri into the ring for a two count. Crazy looked for a Powerbomb, but was reversed into a flip-over DDT by Tajiri for a two count. The Japanese Buzzsaw took his chance, and planted Crazy with a Brainbuster for the victory after a back and forth match.

Yoshihiro Tajiri def. Super Crazy in 12:31 via pinfall [24]

The Dudley Boyz make their way to the ring, and Buh Buh Ray begins to berate the locals at ringside – before turning his attention to the World Tag Team Champions. Buh Buh claims that the Dudleyz were wrongfully beaten for the Titles in Japan, at an event that wasn’t even in a sanctioned ECW match. Rob Van Dam and Sabu cheated to take the titles, and will pay the ultimate price when they wake up with their bodies in pieces after feeling the Dudley Death Drop. D-Von challenges the pair to put the titles on the line at House Party next weekend, before Little Spike Dudley makes his way to the ring and challenges his brothers to a match against LSD and his partner – New Jack! [52]

The Dudley Boyz -vs- Little Spike Dudley and New Jack

New Jack hits the ring with an assortment of weapons at hand; he throws a trash can lid to Spike and hits the ring swinging a crutch high above his head. Buh Buh and D-Von quickly exit the ring – but Big Dick is left in the firing line and catches a crutch around the head that takes the big man down. Spike exits the ring, and connects with a shot to the head of Buh Buh as he tries to talk tactics with D-Von; with the other brother catching Spike in the gut with a boot before the trash can is swung again. New Jack heads under the ring and wheels out a wheelbarrow full of junk and slides the weapons into the ring. He meets D-Von and smacks him over the head with a trowel, before Buh Buh hits him over the head with a chair. Sign Guy sets up a table at ringside and hands Buh Buh a baseball bat; which he uses on the mid-section of New Jack. Spike jumps into the ring and looks for the Acid Drop; but is sent crashing over the top rope and through the table at ringside. D-Von rolls New Jack from the ring, and he begins brawling with Big Dick on the outside – as Buh Buh drags the lifeless body of Spike into the ring again. D-Von sets him up, and they plant the youngest Dudley with the 3D and earn the victory.

Buh Buh Ray Dudley def. Little Spike Dudley in 6:54 via pinfall [37]

As the ring is cleared and we prepare for our Three-Way Dance, Lance Storm makes his way to the ring and proclaims that after victory tonight he will challenge the ECW Champion to a title match at ECW’s House Party at the ECW Arena this coming Saturday night. Storm believes that not only is he the best Canadian to ever grace an ECW ring – he is the best wrestler in ECW, period. [40]

Lance Storm -vs- Jerry Lynn -vs- Chris Candido

Storm is joined by Jerry Lynn and the pair go straight for each other and the match is underway before Candido can even make the ring. Lynn drops Storm with a lariat as Candido enters the ring; catching Lynn with a stiff dropkick as he turns around. Candido celebrates, but is quickly taken down by a series of arm drags by Storm – who quickly catches him with a spinning heel kick for a two count. Lynn re-enters the match and begins to beat down on Storm; he bargains with Candido and the pair double team Storm before throwing him out of the ring. Lynn and Candido lock up with Candido gaining control, and scores a two count thanks to a delayed vertical suplex. With Lynn down in the ring, Candido heads to the top rope and looks for a diving leg drop – but Lynn rolls to safety and onto the apron. Lynn springboards over the top rope and lands a picture perfect elbow drop that earns him a two count. He picks Candido up and signals for the Cradle Piledriver; but Candido breaks free and drops Lynn with a DDT. He quickly heads to the top rope and lands a diving leg drop across the throat of Lynn; makes the cover and gets the elimination.

Chris Candido def. Jerry Lynn in 10:04 via pinfall

Candido picks himself up off the canvas, as Storm springboards himself back into the match – landing a dropkick on Candido for a two count. The Canadian stalks Candido as he gets to his feet, and meets him with a boot to the mid-section; he lifts Candido up and plants him with a sit-out Powerbomb – but once again can only manage a two count. Storm hits a northern lights suplex, but instead’ve bridging for the pin – he rolls through and hooks up the right leg with the Canadian Maple Leaf leaving Candido no choice but to submit.

Lance Storm def. Chris Candido in 13:37 via submission [42]

The ECW World Television Champion Rob Van Dam and his manager Bill Alfonso make their way to the ring and ‘Mr. Pay-Per-View’ tells of his immense respect for Masato Tanaka – but explains that this respect won’t stop the TV Champ from walking away from tonight as the Whole F’n Champion! [48]

ECW WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Rob Van Dam © -vs- Masato Tanaka

Masato Tanaka makes his way to the ring and after the pair shake hands we get under way. They lock up, with Dangan getting the advantage – landing several right hands, quickly followed by a stiff lariat. Tanaka doesn’t let RVD recover and puts the boots into the champion; before dragging him to his feet and sending him into the corner – Masato follows up and catches Van Dam with a high knee. He spins out and lands a roaring elbow flush on the champions chin; making the cover but only getting a two count. Tanaka lifts Van Dam to his feet and looks for a German Suplex – but RVD uses his momentum to roll through, catching Tanaka with a dropkick. Dangan uses the corner to get back to his feet, but a charging RVD launches him across the ring with a monkey flip – before performing a cartwheel into a standing moonsault for a close two count. The champion leaps to the top rope, but Tanaka is back on his feet and catches him with a series of short elbows. Tanaka climbs behind Van Dam as he is seated on the top turnbuckle – before somersaulting over the champion and planting him with the Diamond Dust. Tanaka makes the cover, but RVD manages to slide a shoulder up at the death to safe the match. Tanaka lifts RVD high onto his shoulder and looks for the Complete Dust – but Van Dam slides free and catches Masato with a spin kick on the break. Van Dam pushes Tanaka back into the corner, and hits two shoulder thrusts in quick succession before a back flip and a third shoulder thrust. RVD scoops Tanaka up and slams him down; before springing to the top rope and landing a split-legged moonsault – only for Tanaka to kick out at two. Van Dam plants Tanaka with a northern lights suplex before leaping to the top rope – he soars through the air and lands a Five Star Frog Splash; which gives him the three count to retain his title.

Rob Van Dam def. Masato Tanaka in 14:33 via pinfall [46]

Justin Credible makes his way towards the ring with his entourage consisting of Jason Knight and Samu – with Credible immediately dismissing any chance of Tommy Dreamer walking out of the arena as the winner. Credible turns to Samu and tells him that tonight, his services are not needed and he is dismissed – claiming his presence was a sign of weakness. Justin claims that by taking out Dreamer tonight, he will be the new ‘Innovator of Violence’ and that’s not just the coolest, that’s not just the best – that’s Justin Credible. [41]

STAIRWAY TO HELL LADDER MATCH

Tommy Dreamer -vs- Justin Credible

As Tommy Dreamer makes his way down to the ring, we are reminded about the Singapore cane hanging high above the ring. As the bell sounds Jason Knight leaps onto the apron and starts to talk trash to Dreamer – this allows Credible to attack from behind, and he lays him out. Credible puts the boots to Dreamer, drops an elbow and calls to Jason to slide in a ladder – before setting it up in the centre of the ring. Credible climbs up a few rungs, but Dreamer gets to his feet and grabs hold of Credible – planting him with a falling neckbreaker. Jason is back on the apron again and gets in Dreamer’s face – but Terry Funk rushes down to the ring wielding a steel chair. He spins Jason around and catches him on the top of the head with a clean shot – he hands the chair to Dreamer and tells him to get the job down. Dreamer smiles and raises the chair high – with Funk dragging Jason towards the backstage area. Dreamer turns and is caught by a low dropkick by Credible – who picks up the chair and waffles Dreamer over the head with it and busts him wide open.

Credible positions the chair in the corner between the top and second turnbuckles – he drags Dreamer to his feet; before sending him crashing into the chair with a modified Russian leg sweep. Justin re-sets the ladder and begins to climb – he gets his hand on the cane; but Dreamer stops his ascent with a chop to the back of the knee. Dreamer climbs up the first few rungs of the ladder and slides Credible onto his shoulder – he shouts out to the ECW fans before planting Credible with the Spicoli Driver. Dreamer wraps Credible up in the tree of woe, and sets the steel chair up in front of his face – before charging across the ring and scoring with a low-angle dropkick to the face of Credible. With his opponent tied up in the corner, Dreamer climbs the ladder again; and easily reaches the Singapore cane – he pulls it lose, as a large man leaps over the barricade and slides into the ring. Dreamer jumps down from the ladder, but is met with a massive boot to the face from SID VICIOUS! Sid grabs Dreamer by the throat and lifts him up high above his head – before planting him with a Chokeslam. He throws the ladder out of the ring and helps Justin Credible to his feet – Sid picks up the cane and hands it to Justin. As Dreamer slowly makes his way to his feet, Credible swings the cane and splits it over the head of Dreamer. But Tommy refuses to stay down, and gets to his feet again – only to be met by a second nasty shot with the Singapore cane. Dreamer gets back to his feet, but is scooped up by Credible – and planted on the top of his head with That’s Incredible; giving Justin the victory, thanks to Sid Vicious.

Justin Credible def. Tommy Dreamer in 16:47 via pinfall [54]

As Justin Credible celebrates with the Singapore cane; Sid Vicious sets up two tables on the outside of the ring. Vicious slides in and lifts up the already bloody Dreamer, setting him up for the Powerbomb. With Credible encouraging him – Vicious plants Dreamer with a Powerbomb over the top rope and through the two tables at ringside. Vicious and Credible celebrate in the ring, as the medical team and Terry Funk begin to attend to Dreamer on the outside. [51]

We head to a pre-taped promo with the ECW World Heavyweight Champion ‘The Franchise’ Shane Douglas – who talks about how stupid Taz is for refusing his money. He claims that his challenger made the biggest mistake of his career, and that tonight he will do to Taz what Taz did to Sabu – ‘break his ****ing neck in half’. Douglas calls Taz a piece of **** before raising his ECW Title and calling himself the only true World Champion in all of wrestling. [59]

ECW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Shane Douglas © -vs- Taz

Our main event was surrounded by a general buzz from the fans in attendance, as Shane Douglas squared off with Taz with the ECW Championship on the line. The early minutes of the match were tense as Douglas tried to frustrate Taz by breaking up every exchange by heading to the ropes and going outside of the ring. Taz began to chase the Franchise, who rolled into the ring and jumped on Taz when he got the opportunity and took control of the action. After Douglas began to wear down Taz, he tried to get an early pinfall off the back of a neckbreaker – but Taz was quick to power out. Douglas once again exited the ring to regroup with Francine – allowing Taz to regain his composure in the ring.

The pair hooked up again in the ring, but the Franchise dropped to his knees and blatantly nailed Taz with a low blow before getting in the referee’s face and screaming to be disqualified. Douglas quickly makes the cover for a two count, before putting the boots into Taz – and lifting him up with a delayed vertical suplex. The Franchise shouts abuse at Taz before planting him with the suplex and covering for yet another two count. Douglas gets in Taz’ face and screams about being the real suplex machine; prompting Taz to slap him and get to his feet. The challenger hits a quick head and arm suplex, and makes the cover for a two count. Taz asks Douglas if he wants to see a real suplex, to which Douglas backs away and tries to beg his way out of the match – but Taz grabs the champion and launches the Franchise with a T-Bone Tazplex.

Francine gets on the apron, but her distraction is only momentarily as Taz grabs her and throws her into the ring and stalks her for the Tazmission. Taz grabs Francine and locks it in, but is quickly clubbed from behind by The Franchise and beat down. Douglas grabs Taz and plants him with a belly-to-belly suplex, but can only score the two count. In frustration Douglas grabs hold of his challenger, and plants him with a second belly-to-belly suplex – but the end results is the same, as Taz squeezes a shoulder out at two. Douglas calls for the end, and sets Taz up for the Pittsburgh Plunge – but Taz reverses the momentum and launches Douglas across the ring with another suplex. Taz stalks the champion as he slowly gets to his feet, before latching on the Tazmission from behind – he gets the bodyscissors locked on as well and squeezes the life out of The Franchise. Douglas refuses to tap out, but as his body goes limp and is checked by the referee – the bell sounds and we have ourselves a new World Heavyweight Champion.

a good job by all those who predicted; well done to FlameSnoopy for getting everything right.. I dont have any sort of prize of note, but I hope the show lived up to expectations..

While I realise some of the things that I had go down happened at the real event, I feel Ive changed enough to leave my mark on the show.. the coming weeks should take a much more personalised route..

I like the idea of Sid being Justin's muscle.. it gives Credible a much needed rub and keeps Sid away from the title plans.. I do fear that he will get stolen pretty sharpish as in the few weeks hes been with us his already ridiculously high popularity has gone up much faster than anyone elses.. and hes already paying off as JC has got more over as well..

once again, thanks for predicting.. and hope you all enjoyed the show.. plenty of effort has gone into it..

Nice work mate, I will be reading! If possible I really enjoy info on what's happening in the World, even if it's only a quick monthly recap would be great.

I forgot Awesome was out that long, his return will be much anticipated.

ECW HARDCORE TV PREVIEW

Week 3, January 1999

On the back of Guilty as Charged, where we crowned a new ECW World Champion in Taz – and we also saw the crowning of a new self-proclaimed number one contender in Lance Storm. Storm was victorious in a three way dance and has been running his mouth about becoming ECW Champion. He will get his chance at House Party at the ECW Arena on Saturday – but first he has to get past the tough challenge of Masato Tanaka.

Guilty as Charged also served as the debut of a former two-time World Champion – Sid Vicious; who became a member of Justin Credible’s Entourage and handed him victory over Tommy Dreamer. Vicious will see his first official action as an ECW wrestler as he takes on returning ECW star Stevie Richards. Our opening contest sees Rob Van Dam continue his feud with The Dudley Boyz as he defends his World Television Title against Big Dick Dudley.

<em>Dark Match: Danny Doring and Amish Roadkill def. Jason Knight and Samu in 8:08 via pinfall [30]</em></p><p> </p><p>

The show kicks off with an introduction from <strong>Joey Styles</strong> – who talks us through Guilty as Charged from this past Sunday and builds up the ECW Arena show tomorrow night – House Party. Styles announces that the ECW World Title will be on the line as Taz defends against the loud mouth Lance Storm; who has talked himself into a title match. [35]</p><p> </p><p>

Unhappy with this decision, <strong>Shane Douglas</strong> storms into the ring and shouts abuse at Styles before demanding he get the hell out of his spotlight. The Franchise goes on to talk about how Taz cheated his way to the victory and stole the ECW Title with a damn illegal choke hold. Douglas feels Taz should be striped of the title and suspended indefinitely for taking the ‘chicken ****’ approach and for not being a man and beating him fairly. Douglas states that he will refuse to wrestle a single match in this piss-poor excuse for a wrestling company until he is granted a rematch at his ECW Title; before walking out of the ring and presumably the arena. Our opening contest sees Rob Van Dam and Big Dick Dudley go head to head for the Television Title; Big Dick didn’t come alone however as Buh Buh Ray, D-Von, Sign Guy and Studley Dudley were all at ringside. Van Dam starts the bout at a fast pace and seems to have Big Dick controlled despite the constant threat from all members of the Dudley family. RVD catches Big Dick were a big spinning wheel kick and leaps to the top rope – but before he can hit the frog splash, D-Von launches RVD from the top rope and back into the ring. In spite of the referee’s protests Buh Buh and D-Von enter the ring and begin putting the boots to the champion – ultimately causing the disqualification.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;">

</span><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Rob Van Dam def. Big Dick Dudley in 4:20 via disqualification [35]</strong></span></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Dudley Boyz</strong> continue their three-on-one assault on <strong>Rob Van Dam</strong> – with Sign Guy and Studley Dudley directing traffic. Big Dick sets up the furniture as Buh Buh and D-Von continue to put the boots into Van Dam – with Buh Buh hurling abuse into his face in between stomps. With the table set up in the ring, Buh Buh calls for the 3D – and the brothers slam RVD through the wood with the Dudley Death Drop. Big Dick grabs the RVD’s Tag Title and hands it to Buh Buh who stands tall and celebrates over the fallen champion. The lights then cut out, and as the crowd buzz the light returns – with <strong>Sabu</strong> standing in the ring wielding a steel chair. Sabu waffles Big Dick with a chair shot, and swings at both Buh Buh and D-Von – but both men escape without taking a shot. Sabu checks on Van Dam before pointing to the heavens and raising both his Tag Title and the FTW Title – as The Dudley Boyz head out of the arena calling for the Tag Titles to be theirs at House Party on Saturday at the ECW Arena. [27]</p><p> </p><p>

‘The Big Don’ <strong>Tommy Rich</strong> heads out to the ring accompanied by <strong>Little Guido and Tracey Smothers</strong> of the Full Blooded Italian, as well as a third unidentified man decked out in FBI-gear. Rich talks about how the FBI is gonna take over ECW – but before they ‘hit the mattresses’ they need more bodies in play. The ‘Big Don’ turns his attention the unidentified man and informs us that the man is <strong>Tony Mamaluke</strong> the newest heavy of the FBI. Mamaluke doesn’t say anything, but Rich wants everyone to know that on Saturday night the ECW Arena will be rechristened the FBI Arena. [14]</p><p> </p><p>

With that <strong>Ballz Mahoney and Axl Rotten</strong> hit the ring wielding steel chairs, and began swinging for the fences. First Mamaluke went down; he was quickly followed by Smothers – leaving just Guido and Rich standing in the ring. ‘The Big Don’ pushed Guido into the firing line and quickly got out of harm’s way – leaving Guido to receive a double chair shot from the Hardcore Chair Swingin’ Freaks. [8]</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Sid Vicious -vs- Stevie Richards</strong></span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;">

The second match of the evening saw an overly confident Sid Vicious get caught off guard by a strong showing from Stevie Richards. Stevie used his speed edge at the start of the match to evade Sid’s attacks and eventually caught him with a shock roll up for a very close two count. Sid then turned in a dominant performance and began to beat down Richards until the finish was almost beyond a doubt. Richards was planted with a Chokeslam; but Sid pulled his shoulder up after two as he hadn’t quite finished the beatdown. Sid dragged Stevie to his feet, before planting him once again – this time with a massive Powerbomb to gain the dominant victory.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;">

</span><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Sid Vicious def. Stevie Richards in 7:43 via pinfall [39]</strong></span></p><p> </p><p>

Following his victory an irate <strong>Terry Funk</strong> made his way to the ring – instantly calling Sid a piece of ****. Funk wants Sid in a match at House Party to reach ‘the son of a bitch some respect’ – he talks about how he felt disrespected by Dreamer but he was man enough to accept his mistake. Funk has taken Dreamer under his wing, and for Sid to lay out Dreamer is a direct insult to both Terry Funk and ECW. [70] <strong>Sid Vicious</strong> laughs off the angry Funk, and kicks him straight in the face – before berating him as a crazy old man. Vicious picks up Funk and launches him across the ring with a massive Powerbomb – agreeing to the match on Saturday night. [58]</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Lance Storm</strong> makes his way to the ring, ahead of our main event – unfortunately he has a microphone. Storm takes exception to the new nickname he has been given by the fans and Joey Styles – he does not like being referred to as the ‘loud mouth Canadian’. Storm then goes through a list of possible nicknames that could be used to describe him; the ‘fantastic Canadian’; the ‘brilliant Canadian’ – but decides upon Lance ‘Perfect’ Storm. The ‘Perfect Storm’ will cause havoc on the title reign of the incumbent champion Taz come House Party on Saturday night. [37]</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Masato Tanaka -vs- Lance Storm</strong></span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;">

The main event of this week’s show sees the new self-proclaimed number one contender take on the man who narrowly missed out on the Television Title at the weekend. The pair kick off the contest with a striking exchange, with Tanaka gaining the advantage with a series of vicious short elbows – but misses the money shot as his roaring elbow is dodged by Storm. A dropkick from the Canadian doesn’t seem to faze Dangan – who is quick to his feet and retaliates with a lariat. After a period of domination, Tanaka drags Storm to the corner and looks to finish him off with a Tornado DDT – but Storm blocks it and sends Tanaka face first into the canvas. Storm catches Tanaka with a regular DDT but only scores two; with obvious frustration he lifts his opponent up and plants him with a nasty looking Piledriver – but once again only manages a two count. Storm lets his anger get the better of him and is caught off guard by Tanaka, who sends him into the corner and charges – but misses with a forearm shot, hitting the top turnbuckle chest-first. Storm rolls the dazed Dangan up and locks up a leg with the Canadian Maple Leaf to earn a hard-fought submission victory.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;">

Hardcore TV was another mixed bag, but nothing really stood out as particularly great in-ring.. the FBI/Ballz/Axl angle(s) completely sucked.. but hey, at least I got them on screen and theyve got a match built up (rather poorly but whatever) for the Arena show..</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

<p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>ECW HOUSE PARTY 1999 PREVIEW</strong></span></p><p>

Week 3, January 1999</p><p> </p><p>

ECW returns to the ECW Arena for House Party 1999; and in the headline bout the recently debuted Sid Vicious takes on the grizzled veteran Terry Funk in a grudge match. The match stems from Sid’s debut at Guilty as Charged when he took out Funk’s on-again off-again protégé Tommy Dreamer and cost him the victory against Justin Credible. Funk has taken the attack as a personal insult and hopes to teach Vicious some respect in front of the ECW faithful on Saturday night.</p><p> </p><p>

The ECW World Heavyweight Champion Taz makes his first defence of the title he captured at Guilty as Charged as he takes on the upstart Canadian technician Lance Storm. The challenger has spent the whole month talking up his own ability to proclaiming to be the best talent ECW has to offer; at House Party he gets to put his money where his mouth is as he challenges the new Champion. Many have to wonder whether former Champion Shane Douglas will make an appearance after threatening to walk out of the company if he doesn’t receive a title rematch in the coming weeks.</p><p> </p><p>

The Dudley Boyz aim to regain the World Tag Team Titles as they take on the TV Champion Rob Van Dam and the returning Sabu – who had been sidelined by a neck injury over the past month. The Champions defeated Buh Buh Ray and D-Von at an event in Japan during December to capture the gold; and now the brothers are looking to win it back inside the ECW Arena. We will also see a second rematch as Yoshihiro Tajiri and Super Crazy do battle again, just a week after fighting on pay-per-view. With many disappointed by their first contest, including Super Crazy – the rematch is much-anticipated with the Mexican especially wanting a different outcome.</p><p> </p><p>

Keeping the International flavour, four new Mexican stars make their ECW Arena debut in a Four Way Dance at House Party. The first competitor will be known to US fans as a former WCW Cruiserweight – Lizmark Jr.; as well the second man, also of WCW fame – Silver King. The third man in the ring will also be known to fans of WCW’s Cruiserweight Division – Super Calo; while the fourth man is wrestling his US debut at House Party – Recnor Latino. Our opening contest is a spill-over from this past week’s Hardcore TV as three of the Full Blooded Italians take on Axl Rotten and Ballz Mahoney after they were attacked by them on Friday night.</p><p> </p><p>

ECW HOUSE PARTY 1999 RESULTS

Week 3, January 1999

Saturday on Home Video

Live from the ECW Arena [Philadelphia, PA]

Dark Match: C.W. Anderson def. Ulf Herman in 2:40 via pinfall [24]

Dark Match: Shane Douglas and Justin Credible def. Tommy Dreamer and Jerry Lynn in 12:13 via pinfall [47]

Joey Styles introduces the ECW fans to the ECW Arena and to House Party 1999 – where tonight our main event sees an ECW newcomer, Sid Vicious take on ECW Legend Terry Funk. Styles reminds us of Funk’s emotional promo from Hardcore TV about how Sid’s attack on Tommy Dreamer was a personal insult to both Funk and ECW. [51]

The Home Video release has a video set to “This Is Extreme” by Harry Slash and the Slashtones – which shows Sid Vicious making his debut at Guilty as Charged. We see Sid Powerbombing Dreamer over the top rope and through two tables before showing clips of Funk’s emotional promo from Hardcore TV. [62]

As the fans settle ahead of our opening contest, the former ECW Champion Shane Douglas makes his way to the ring. He tells the ‘idiots’ at ringside to shut up because he has something important to say. He tells us that despite the morons in attendance, he enjoys being here at the ECW Arena – that’s why he turned up tonight; that and to piss off Paul Heyman and to piss off Taz. The Franchise is going to keep making a mockery of ECW shows until Taz acts like a man and accepts his rematch; he doesn’t care when and he doesn’t care where – he just wants to right the wrong that was Guilty as Charged. [50]

The Full Blooded Italians -vs- The Hardcore Chair Swingin’ Freaks

Our opening contest started with the numbers game giving the FBI an apparent advantage as Smothers brawled with Ballz and Guido and Mamaluke double teamed Rotten. The Italians quickly get a three-on-one advantage as Smothers took Ballz out of the ring with a clothesline; before the three men beat down on Rotten. Guido and Smothers land a Paisan Elbow drop on Axl, as Ballz returns wielding a steel chair – Mamaluke takes the first shot, flush on the top of his head. Smothers is then met by a shot, which staggers him – with a second knocking him down and out of the ring. Guido dodges a swing from Ballz and catches him with a dropkick to the knee; the Italian hits the ropes and charges, but is caught with a spinning sidewalk slam onto the chair – with Mamaluke breaking up the count at two. Rotten takes out Tony with a chair of his own – before grabbing the fallen Guido and planting him with the SST. Mamaluke staggers around the ring, while Rotten heads outside to brawl with Smothers – allowing Ballz to plant Mamaluke with the Nutcracker Suite to gain the three count.

Ballz Mahoney def. Tony Mamaluke in 8:06 via pinfall [34]

We get a pre-taped promo from Terry Funk – he rants about how he has come to ECW to help the next generation of wrestlers and then people like Sid Vicious come here for the pay check and take liberties with the ECW faithful. Sid’s attack on Dreamer at Guilty as Charged was an insult to everything that is ECW and everything that Terry Funk stands for and has worked hard to establish for his whole life. Funk tells Sid that ECW is more than just walking in and putting somebody through a table – it’s about the heart and spirit of a Tommy Dreamer, making the sacrifice week in and week out for the sole purpose of entertaining the ECW fans. [63]

Rencor Latino -vs- Silver King -vs- Super Calo -vs- Lizmark Jr.

Our four way dance, elimination style, Lucha Libre match got under way with a show of respect from all parties – before Silver King took a cheap shot and hit Rencor with a dropkick. Calo and Lizmark paired off as King clotheslined Rencor over the top rope and to the outside – he hit the opposite ropes and launched himself onto Rencor with a suicide dive to get the crowd going. Lizmark and Calo went back and forth with a series of arm drags; before a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker left Calo down for the two count. Rencor got the advantage in the back and forth brawling on the outside and rolled Silver King back into the ring. Lizmark quickly hit the top rope and landed a Moonsault on the unsuspecting King; before Rencor hit a springboard leg drop – but Silver King survived the quick flurry and kicked out at two. As Lizmark concerned himself with Silver King, Calo headed up to the top rope and lay in waiting – catching the second generation star by surprised with a diving Hurricanrana; hooking both legs for the three count.

Super Calo def. Lizmark Jr. in 10:06 via pinfall

As Super Calo celebrates the first elimination, Rencor grabs him from behind and looks to get the double underhooks and set up his favoured facebuster variation; but Silver King clubs him from behind with a forearm. King connects with a nasty super kick; before quickly landing a moonsault from the top rope to cause the second elimination.

Silver King def. Rencor Latino in 12:57 via pinfall

Super Calo and Silver King exchange punches in the centre of the ring; before King gets the upper hand and lands a dropkick to the knee. He leaps to the top rope; but before he can execute anything – Super Calo joins him and connects with a couple of punches. Calo jumps up and sends King crashing to the canvas with a top-rope headscissors – Calo quickly makes the cover and secures the victory.

Super Calo def. Silver King in 14:40 via pinfall [46]

We then head to a pre-taped promo for the ECW World Heavyweight Champion Taz – he first talks about his opponent tonight, Lance Storm. Taz talks about how Storm has run his mouth for weeks about how he is the best that ECW has to offer – but he disagrees. Storm has obviously overlooked the facts – because the fact is, Taz is the ECW Champion for a reason and tonight he will show that reason. [57] Taz then turns his attention to the challenge of Shane Douglas; Taz will fight Douglas any time he damn well pleases. He has beat the Franchise once and will beat him again – just name the date. [60]

Yoshihiro Tajiri -vs- Super Crazy

Some more Lucha-style action as Tajiri and Super Crazy lock up in a rematch from last week’s pay-per-view. With the outing last week being a disappointment to many, both men seemed to up their game as the action was intense from the off. Tajiri tried to pick things up where he left off, and attempted a Brainbuster relatively early in the bout; but Crazy wriggled free and put Tajiri down with a bulldog. Crazy hit the bottom rope and landed a moonsault; before quickly doing the same from the middle rope – he jumped up to the top rope, but before he could land the trifecta Tajiri tripped him and crotched him on the top rope. Tajiri grabbed Crazy and launched himself backwards, planting Crazy with a German suplex from the top rope – but he could only earn himself a two count. Crazy pulls himself up in the opposite corner, and Tajiri charges and looks for a handspring back elbow – only for Crazy to slide through the second rope and to the apron. As Tajiri crashes into the turnbuckles; Crazy slingshots himself into the ring and catches Tajiri with a flying headscissors – but can only get a two count for his efforts. The two men grapple for position, with Tajiri looking for a dragon suplex – but the luchadore reverses the manoeuvre and plants Tajiri with a Crazy Bomb out of nowhere, and takes the victory.

Super Crazy def. Yoshihiro Tajiri in 11:58 via pinfall [45]

The Dudley Boyz make their way to the ring, and Buh Buh Ray is quick to insult the scumbags here in Philadelphia. Buh Buh insults a ‘fat chick’ in the front row and tells her that once the Dudleyz have beaten up RVD and Sabu they still won’t look as ugly as she does. He adds that Big Dick is gonna get wood tonight – but not the kind the fat chicks enjoy; the kind that gives the Dudley Boyz the ECW World Tag Team Titles. D-Von reminds the fans that Sabu is coming in with a broken neck and that he will be lucky to walk out of the ECW Arena on his own – the ‘dumb bastard’ is leaving on a stretcher. [48]

The ECW World Tag Team Champions, World Television Champion Rob Van Dam and FTW Champion Sabu make their way to the ring with Bill Alfonso in tow. Van Dam grabs a microphone and tells the Dudleyz that they need to take a chill pill; if they just calmed down and weren’t such hot heads they may stand a chance against the ‘Whole ****in’ Show’ and Sabu – all the gold is staying with the cool dudes. [48]

ECW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Rob Van Dam and Sabu © -vs- The Dudley Boyz

The first of two title matches gets underway as RVD and Sabu take it to their challenges; with the pair taking the Dudleyz out of the ring with a spin kick from Van Dam and a heel kick from Sabu. The Tag Champions celebrated and posed for the fans as the challengers re-grouped on the outside. Order is quickly restored, with Van Dam and D-Von being the legal men; with the pair brawling for several minutes until RVD dropped him with a scoop slam – before tagging in Sabu. He enters the match via the top rope, and looks to land a leg drop – but D-Von rolls out of the way and tags in Buh Buh. The Dudleyz isolate Sabu and concentrate their attack on his injured neck as they frequently tag to keep the fresher man in the ring. D-Von lifts Sabu to the top rope, and then drops him with a nasty diving neckbreaker – but RVD makes the save after two. The Dudleyz continue their double team and both men stay in the ring after Buh Buh makes the tag, seemingly setting up for the Dudley Death Drop. D-Von lifts Sabu up, but is planted by a DDT from the Houdini of Hardcore – Van Dam hits the ring and catches Buh Buh with right hands, before clotheslining him over the top rope.

Big Dick Dudley then gets involved and grabs RVD by the throat from the apron; Van Dam catches him with a high kick and knocks him back down to the floor. Sabu then charges and hits Big Dick with a plancha on the outside; Alfonso slides a chair into RVD and the sides are somewhat even once again. Van Dam throws the chair to D-Von; and hits him with the Van Daminator – before leaping to the top rope. Buh Buh pushes RVD from the top rope, and sends him crashing to the floor on the outside. Buh Buh then grabs a table from under the ring and slides it in to D-Von, who sets it up in the centre. Big Dick and Sabu brawl on the outside – with the biggest Dudley being thrown into the front row. Sabu is given a chair by Fonzie and heads to the apron; he launches himself as Big Dick leans over the barrier and lands an Arabian Facebuster to the back of the Dudley. Van Dam gathers himself and gets back to the top rope; he launches himself at Buh Buh Ray, but only glances him with the side kick. RVD turns into a kick to the mid-section from D-Von and is whipped into the ropes. Buh Buh gets back to his feet, as D-Von lifts RVD into the air – slamming him through the table with the Dudley Death Drop, allowing Buh Buh to make the cover and steal the Tag Team Titles.

Buh Buh Ray Dudley def. Rob Van Dam in 18:50 via pinfall; The Dudley Boyz become the new ECW World Tag Team Champions [54]

The challenger for the ECW World Title Lance Storm makes his way to the ring, and declares that the weather report is accurate and that a ‘Perfect Storm’ is about to hit Philadelphia. Storm is going to use his technical prowess to show up the street thug Taz and take away the ECW Title and become the ‘Perfect Canadian Champion’. [47]

ECW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Taz © -vs- Lance Storm

The ECW World Champion makes his way to the ring and stands, arms crossed staring down his challenger as the competitors are introduced. At the sound of the bell, Taz hands the title to the time keeper – but is hit from behind by a forearm shot by Storm. The Canadian attempts to lock in a hammerlock but is quickly reversed and dropped by a back suplex, giving Taz an early two count. The pair go back and forth with neither man really stamping his authority until Storm bridges out of a northern lights suplex for a two count – shouting to the fans that he is the ‘Canadian Suplex Machine’. Storm puts the boots into Taz, before stepping briefly onto the apron and springboarding himself at the champion – taking him down with a clothesline. Storm heads to the top rope, and lands a Crossbody on Taz as he gets to his feet – earning himself a two count. Storm stalks Taz, and throws a Superkick as the champion regains his footing; but Taz catches the leg and launches Storm overhead with a release suplex.

Taz hits the ropes, and drops Storm with a lariat – but keeps charging and connects with a big boot on his second rebound. He gets a two count from the subsequent cover, but doesn’t slow down his aggressive pace – throwing Storm once again, with an exploder suplex. Taz stalks Storm as he gets back to his feet – and grabs him from behind, looking to apply the Tazmission. But Storm drops to the canvas, and rolls Taz over – holding onto a leg and locking in the Canadian Maple Leaf. Taz tries to reach the ropes, but Storm tightens his grip and drags him towards the centre of the ring – with everything looking bleak for the champion, he makes one last effort and kicks himself free of the submission. Storm, obviously frustrated, kicks away at the leg of Taz before attempting to set him up for a Piledriver. Taz slips out and throws Storm with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex; before grabbing his challenger and locking in the Tazmission. The champion drags Storm to the canvas and applies the bodyscissors as Storm goes to sleep – giving Taz the victory via submission.

Taz def. Lance Storm in 19:47 via submission [65]

Taz celebrates the victory and is handed the title belt; but he is attacked from behind by Shane Douglas – with the Franchise clubbing the champion in the back with a steel chair. Douglas works over the leg and ankle of the fallen champion and begins to wear down the knee – he shouts abuse at the champion before locking in a figure four leg lock. The Franchise screams that he knows submissions as well and tells Taz to ‘tap the **** out’ – but all that Douglas seems to be achieving is angering the champion. [53] Douglas lets go of the hold and grabs a microphone as he exits the ring; he laughs at Taz as he struggles to his feet before calling him out and demanding a match when they return to the ECW Arena in three weeks. [59]

Joey Styles confirms that Taz and Shane Douglas will have a rematch for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship when ECW returns to the ECW Arena in three weeks at Crossing the Line. [47]

Sid Vicious -vs- Terry Funk

Our main event is a grudge match, and Funk starts as he means to go on as he enters wielding a steel chair – whilst Sid enters with Justin Credible by his side. Funk exits the ring before the match begins and chases Credible around the outside; he slides into the ring with Funk in pursuit – only for Sid to smack Funk in the face with a big boot, and the match is underway. Sid catches Funk with numerous punches, and forces him back into the corner – before methodically taking apart Funk’s upper body with punches and elbows. Funk tries to throw rights and lefts, but neither faze Sid – who lifts him high and drops him onto the turnbuckle with snake eyes. Sid lands a leg drop on the Funker and makes the cover, but can only get one as Funk refuses to stay down. Credible passes Sid the chair, and he stalks Funk; before swinging and missing – catching the top rope with the chair and getting hit in the face by the rebound. Funk hits several rights and lefts before dropping Sid face first into the chair with a snap DDT – getting a two count for his efforts.

Funk goes up to the top rope and throws himself backwards, looking for a moonsault – only for Sid to roll out of the way. Sid stomps away at the older Funk before dragging him to his feet in the corner. Sid lands a couple of elbows to the head, before sitting Funk up on the top rope. Sid grabs him by the throat; but Funk kicks himself free – and lands a Crossbody block from the top and gets another two count. Funk kicks the mid-section of Sid and sets him up for a Piledriver – but Sid powers out and sends Funk crashing with a back body drop. Sid stalks Funk, and sets him up for the Powerbomb – but Funk tries to resist as Sid holds him high above the ring. Funk’s attempts are to no avail as he is planted in the centre of the ring; allowing Sid to make the cover and take home the victory.

[5/6] - mrallen

[3/6] - Hashasheen; BHK1978; BigM

[2/6] - Raijin Samurai

Congrats to mrallen for winning the prediction contest - the prize is a crap one but its all I could think of; choose a metal/rock song to serve as the music for the Crossing the Line event in March, and to close out a couple of Hardcore TV's as well.. its got to 'fit' ECW and has to have been released prior to March 1999.. can be anything really, but nothing too mainstream..

on to my thoughts for the show, first off Im gutted I didnt give Taz/Storm the main event.. I was banking on the Sid/Funk match to get a higher rating due to their popularity; but I shouldve trusted my instincts and given the Title match the chance to shine.. ahh well; the overall rating probably wouldnt have been too much higher and its placing as co-main allowed the Shane Douglas post match beatdown to build our next card from..

Im really happy with the Lucha stars.. all 4 of the new Mexicans have got bags of overness thanks to WCW runs.. so they are nicely placed in the uppermidcard already.. thinking I might run some sort of Lucha Tournament at some stage and utilize my working agreement with AAA..

the other big decision was to drop the Tag Titles to the Dudleyz.. whilst I like having RVD covered in gold.. it doesnt allow me to focus on the tag division as much.. the TV Title gets defended most (if not every week) so the Tag Titles kinda get put on the back burner.. it also frees up Sabu for some World Title involvement.. the Dudleyz can play in the tag division and build a few teams up.. as at the moment its looking quite poor for my liking..

I hope everyone enjoyed the show.. next up is Crossing the Line in 3 weeks time.. and then a return to ppv with Living Dangerously 5 weeks later..

wow I can't believe I got 5/6 predictions correct, I was taking a shot in the dark with some of my guesses. I expected to get the four way wrong because four way dances are unpredictable most of the time. As for the song, I am not a big rock/metal fan so I really wouldn't be able to pick a proper song to fit the show and ecw. So I guess you could either pick or pick a runner up to choose the song.
