<p>A couple of weeks ago I went and saw Hacksaw Ridge with a couple of friends (It was a pretty good movie but that is not the point of this). At the end of the movie they show the real Desmond Doss receiving the Medal of Honor from Harry S. Truman. My buddy asked me, "At the end of the movie bro, who was that old school dude who gave the guy the medal."</p><p> </p><p>

I was shocked over this question because I thought my friend was joking. When I realized he was not I started to laugh. Which got him annoyed and he asked me why I was laughing. I said, "You don't know who President Truman was? He was the guy that ordered the atomic bombs to be dropped on Japan which led to the end of World War II." </p><p> </p><p>

Now I kid you not, my friend said, "We dropped atomic bombs on Japan?" Once again he was not joking. I stood there dumbfounded over the fact that someone could graduate from high school and not know who Harry Truman was and that we dropped atomic bombs on Japan. I could see not knowing who Millard Fillmore was or any of the lesser known Presidents but Harry Truman...that is just nuts to me.</p>

That is something they tend to drill in your head around 5th and 6th grade. It is the whole reason the world is freaked out by Nuclear War. I was on Yahoo reading an article about the box-office winners and flops this year. I look over to the right and there is a click bait article with a picture of Eric Stolz in Mask with a headline that read, "Remember him? Try not to gasp when you see him now!"

I am not sure why I find it so funny but I do. I wonder if people are dumb enough to click on that and if so what do they expect to find.

<p>I have brought this up in the past but I was looking over some posts I have made in other threads and I began to wonder what happened to this site. When did it completely die out in regards to people posting on here?</p><p> </p><p>

Is it because the core group of posters from years ago aged out of this site or they just no longer have the time/interest to post on here. I have noticed this for the past couple of years but it is really evident now. At one time the Dog Pound was very active, now only the WWE thread and the Movie Tycoon thread are the only threads that are actively posted in here. Even the diary section for the latest TEW game is dead. There was a time when I would post a diary and within a matter of hours it would be knocked down to page two or three. Now there are only a handful of diaries being post on a regular basis.</p><p> </p><p>

Where has everyone gone?</p>

I'm guilty of this myself. I just don't have time anymore to be very active. I think it is an age thing... I joined the forum in 2005 (but owned TEW2004 before that, and been playing since EW9000), when I was 19. I was active on the forum up until about 2013, which is when my first child was born. Soon after I just found myself with less and less time (for everything!). I still play TEW as much as I can, but the time I do get for myself I tend to spend actually playing the game instead of browsing the forum.

Why I say not entirely true is because when TEW16 came out there seemed to be a lot less people around doing diaries and posting on here than when say TEW13 came out. Maybe I am wrong in the recollection but the board seemed to lose a lot of active posters around the 2011 to 2014 time period.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="RayW" data-cite="RayW" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="28353" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I'm guilty of this myself. That is my theory, a lot of the first and second generation of posters have simply moved on because life has made them moved on. Be it because of their job or in your case a child. I work freelance so I tend to be more active on here when I have a bigger break between jobs and I am obviously less active when I have more work. Though I really should try and find more stable work because while the pay is good, working freelance does start to suck if the work dries up.</p>

I completely agree with you BHK but i can probably come up with a few reasons as to why the boards are dead

For one, TEW and WMMA releases bring an influx of "casual fans" (for lack of a better name) so they see the new release, and jump back into the forum to get the news and participate in the hype. So there is a brief 10 months - a year period where the boards are buzzing cause of the new game release. So, diaries do well during this period and the board has a lot of updates due to it. We dont have that right now, sure WMMA came out recently, but that games fanbase is very much mod and play with little interaction with the board and although it isnt all WMMA fans that are like that i do think they dont stay on the boards. So right now the boards are in the down part of the cycle

Second, people dont have the attention span anymore. Even if they're playing tew, they probably have netflix on, texting a friend and also have another console on the fly (I do this most of the time) so they really dont "have the time" to sit down and read walls of text, which i do understand. Life is so go go go nowadays that it may seem like wasting a day if they are on the boards for extended periods.

Three, theres a lot of lurkers around the board who rarely post, but read different threads and diaries because they enjoy them. They go back and read old diaries (which i do a lot), read new diaries, see what the WWE thread is saying, maybe go into general discussions and once theyve all their threads read they leave and thats how they like to do things.

I do think its a real shame as there are many diaries and discussions going on here that deserve more recognition.

I lurk a lot. I still talk privately with some people who have been here a long time and they have stopped posting for their own reasons. Mine is mainly because of attitude from some. I won’t be scared away, but I won’t engage with adults who throw temper tantrums.

I have noticed indeed that a lot of the people that posted back in the day (first and second generation) have indeed disappeared. I have the feeling a lot of them still lurk around, but life happened and they have other things to do, which is perfectly normal. I myself have been absent from time to time due to life, but I don't plan on ever leaving. I love this community. The thing though, is that those die hard posters that left weren't replaced. It's not like the games are not being played, they surely must be, but a lot of the new generation probably doesn't give too much importance to forums, doesn't have time or posts about it in other places. I see a lot of TEW related stuff in other sites.

<p>Has anyone ever had a chance to see that car commercial (I cannot remember which company it is for, maybe Sabaru?) where a couple walks into a small diner/restaurant and they ask the patrons for directions to location where there are cliffs. There is an old blind man who offers to take them there. </p><p> </p><p>

This commercial cracks me up every time I see it. What idiot would take driving directions from a blind guy? Especially if they are headed towards an area with cliffs...</p><p> </p><p>

Also, how would he even know how to get there? I mean if he was walking, that would be one thing. Because he probably knows the area better than anyone else. However, taking directions from him while driving...nah I think I would take a hard pass on that one.</p>

Heck, MLT hardly posts and I've yet to see Arrows post since I messed up the last mafia game I was apart of.</p>

<p>I just read an article that said the guy who mailed all those bombs to various Democratic political figures was an aspiring pro wrestler. I really have nothing more to add other than that.</p><p> </p><p>

Well I guess I will say that I am shocked that if he gets convicted, he will only have to serve forty-eight years in prison. That sentence seems a little light for a domestic terrorist.</p>
