I've been splitting my game time between Witcher 3, which I have just finished the first ( tutorial ) area and gotten to Velen, and MLB 15 the Show where I have taken my 18 yr old sinkerballer pitcher from double AA to the majors in one year ( granted this is on rookie difficulty as I get used to the game) in the road to the show mode. I don't really like the fielding and baserunning controls of the game, but the pitching and batting modes are nice. My pitcher even hits well ( again, on rookie difficulty <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> )

There's a new performance patch for Witcher. Is it really that addictive that you guys all play it the second it got released? I never got that mentality, though there were games back in the day where I biked to a store like a madman (with a total disregard to personal safety) to get the game and ram it in my console asap. But the last time that happened was Pokemon Stadium. :p

I played some Dragon Age Inquisition this weekend and I must say it was a pleasant experience, though the game doesn't try to hide the fact that it's a collection of repetitive tasks. There's the thing: Skyrim basically comes down to the same 'grind', but somehow sells it in a different way to make for a more compelling experience. I finished the first 'area', but I don't feel inclined to go back and '100%' everything because the mere prospect sounds boring.

Yes. :p

I can't speak for others, but for me personally it was always going to be, even if it was terrible.

I totally see where you're coming from, and usually I'm the same (great though it doubtless is, I'm only just getting into Wolfenstein: The New Order (the original, not the new expand-alone) now, over a year later. Because I had other games to play, and thought 'eh, it can wait'.

But Witcher is different. Witcher is Witcher. It's like the next book in a series that you've been waiting a long time for (like, say, a certain game played with large chairs).

Some games are like that for me. Sometimes it's because of the story or setting (Dragon Age games, Deus Ex games... the ones that exist anyway ¬_¬), sometimes it's the company that makes them (SuperGiant games, From Software) or whatever. But there are some games I can't resist playing immediately.

I got it because I wanted to continue the story. It just so happens that it turned out to also be one of the best games ever made, IMO. So y'know, that helps too.

My only regret is that I didn't finish DA:I first, because I just know that it's going to feel horribly inferior when I go back to it. "Where's my horse gone? Why can't I fight on horseback? Really, I have to collect 2343245 of these again?!". The only thing DA:I does better is armour and weapon crafting, IMO. And I say that as someone who loved DA:I originally...

And I've never really been into Skyrim as more than a 'pretty good game'. It's never taken hold as some sort of virtual existence for me where half my HDD is full of Skyrim mods, as it has with a lot of people.

To be honest, although I did get a quick hour on it the day of release before work, I have a full time job so didn't get to play it properly until the weekend. It is rare these days that I will buy a game as soon as it's out, but reading up on it, it sounded like something that would keep me entertained and off the streets for a while. :D

I don't think there is another game that I'll buy outright at release for a while though.

I've been away from home for the last few days so not been able to get my fix.. Well gaming fix. Travelled to Cardiff which took over 3 hours on the train so settled in with The Witcher audiobook.

I think it's the lore that I'm really digging. Skyrim has some history but it's unrelatable. Witcher takes a lot of influence from fairytales . In the first book there are references to Snow White, Cinderella and the troll under the bridge.. None of these act like their Disney counterparts

I was thinking that maybe the future of the digital sales could consist of store-dependant DLC. I'm actually surprised why they haven't done it already. Why doesn't CDProject produce some GOG-specific content to boost the sales? I think I know why. Because the gamer crowd nowadays consists of a bunch of whiners that would declare them the devil himself if they are withheld from content, even if it would just be an alternate outfit or something silly. Why don't they cry that Nintendo makes these Mario games only for themselves? Isn't that the exact same thing? A company like Steam is entitled to produce specific content for their own platform, and so is EA (and Ubisoft). Sure, I don't buy Ubi-games for mainly that reason, but at least I'm not complaining.

People seem to nag about this purely for the principle. It was scandalous that the Mass Effect 1 DLC was not included in the trilogy. Have they even looked at the DLC? And if it's not that it's the price tag. Take Batman for instance. It's on GMG now for less than 50€ with all DLC included. What do they expect? Are these seriously all children who haven't lived in the times of SNES and Megadrive?

Well either that, or when I do catch up in a few years, Fallout 4 will be one of the first games I buy - I did that by getting Fallout 3 and Bioshock among my first purchases when I bought my 360.</p>

<p>The thought of a new-gen Fallout is definitely interesting.</p><p> </p><p>

The split between post and pre apocalypse in that video has me worried though and im hoping that its just part of the intro cinematic. I have no interest to wander around as the bombs fall</p>

Ooh, Fallout 4!

Oh, Bethesda are making it.

Wake me up when it's not a poorly animated, buggy piece of crap.

The reason most of the video features a dog is probably because, as shown at the end, they still aren't really sure what a human being looks like, but they're fairly sure there are only about six variations and they all sound the same.

And now they're voicing the protagonist? Great. Who's it going to be this time? Morgan Freeman? Robert Downey Jr? It's not like they need the budget to stretch to, y'know, other things.

I know I'm being overly cynical, but it's hard for me to get excited about a new Fallout, especially from Bethesda.

I wonder which horrendously repetitive NPC line will force its way to becoming a meme this time.

Not saying I didn't enjoy Skyrim (though I didn't enjoy F3 that much and was glad they gave NV to someone else), but every first/third person Bethesda game has had the same flaws and they've shown no inclination or ability to fix any of them.

<p>F3 trailer was also a representation of "before the bombs fall" and there was not clearly sequence of that in the game (without the DLC)</p><p> </p><p>

I agree a little with you D-Lyrium, and i think the real improvement will be with the next TES, because of Witcher 3. But you're a little too rude for the game <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

What's so special about this overly expensive controller anyway? <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/confused.png.d4a8e6b6eab0c67698b911fb041c0ed1.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
