Anyone playing Elder Scrolls Online?

I'm playing on XB1 and it's absolutely fantastic. I'm totally hooked. The map is simply massive. To say it's the biggest game map I've ever played is an understatement. If there's a bigger map out there I'm not aware of it, I've never played anything remotely close. There are SO many different places to play I can't imagine how long it would take to do it all.

As a PvE MMO it's great. One of the best "solo" MMO's out there I would imagine. Because of the crafting and the copious amounts of quests you can complete by yourself, you can easily level 1-50 without needing anyone's help. But to do it all, you've got to get with a group. Currently, the group finder is horrendous. So if you want to run group dungeons you have to talk to people. The social aspect is what it is. If you want to talk to people you have only one option: a microphone. There's no text communication (although there are emotes). There is a mail system but it's been bugged every time I've tried to use it (since launch up to and including early Monday morning). So forcing a microphone on people has it's ups and downs obviously, but I found a solid guild and I pretty much just talk to those guys and I've just been having a blast.

The PVP is rather complex. A short way to describe it is that you're in a persistent world for a few days at a time where you acquire and lose strategic points for your alliance. These might be mines or lumber mills for resources but most likely will be a castle keep of some kind. And some of these castles are gorgeous to look at. There are various ways to attack and defend these strategic points, and so many different things are going on at once. Without text based communication it can be, at best, organized chaos or at worse utter bedlam. But in general if you get a decent sized group together it's a ton of fun.

I've NEVER had this much fun on an MMO. Maybe I just like the console experience better. Maybe this game's just that good. It certainly has some flaws but I'm more than willing to overlook them considering all the great things this game has to offer.

I agree with you 100%, great game! I have been on it since launch and it continues to get better with the bugs. I have been working on my Aldemor Dominon Wood Elf and am at like level 12 or so. Spending a lot of my time farming ingots from smashing down stolen stuff in the main town. I have navigated the entire area in Auridon.

If you have any interest in playing send me a friends invite and if you are online we can group up.

GT: Juiced Machine

It's an MMO, so it's purely Online. I have a small group of friends that I play with, but other than that I mostly solo. I've not spoken to anyone that isn't in my friends list, but I have tagged along with some. Not come across a total douche yet.

I also LOVE this game, Ive now bought it twice, once on PC at launch and now on console. :)

Yeah, agree I haven't done any PVP so I don't know about dbags on there but in PvE ESO handles indie loot and things like that in a way that others can't be a problem.

It's not that bad and the quests currently all seem like they are part of an ongoing story and not just a random fetch quest. I've just finished the heist on Stros M'Kai and enjoyed it so far.

Feel free to add me and invite if I'm playing it (GT is Jizmochan)

I then joined up with another random guild of people where I deposited a hell of a lot of stuff</p><p> </p><p> I mixed it up with my character as I got the pack where you can choose a race and which faction, rather than the race dictating your faction so I'm a Nord loyal to the Aldmeri Dominion (rather than The Ebonheart Pact) although I will start a new character at some point as I'd like to play in Morrowind & Skyrim, but for the first one I wanted somewhere I've not been.</p><p> </p><p> I tend to only do solo as I'm not keen on the 4 player Dungeons. It is a pretty huge map as you say, and I can't think of many bigger (Just Cause II maybe?) You can spend hours just roaming around, picking up random quests that actually mean something. It's like the NPC's have a story that you're helping with rather than "I lost a gem - go get it for me" over and over.</p><p> </p><p> I'm not entirely sold on the PvP and may give it a try when I'm a higher level (I'm at 24 and most on PvP tend to be "veteran" ranked players - even in the non-veteran campaigns so I die within 2 hits. I honestly get no fun out of spending 20 minutes trying to get to an enemy keep with others just to die within seconds of getting there and having to respawn back at one of our own keeps and do the boring (or deadly) journey back to the battle. I may enjoy it more when I am a match for some one. That being said, I did notice some solo missions on the PvP map which is a nice touch.</p>

Did ESO suddenly get a hell of a lot better or something? On release it got panned, and I played it on a friend's account for a few hours and it was easy to see why. I think there were even a few posts in this thread about how terribad it was. Now it's the best thing since sliced bread? What happened? :p

<p>So does anyone here play MOBAs? I don't know if there's been discussions about this before since I probably don't check this thread enough.</p><p> </p><p>

Anyways, I really have the itch to get into Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard's take on the MOBA genre. The thing is that I have never played a MOBA before. The main reason is my social anxiety is pretty bad, especially when it comes to multiplayer games. I hate to admit it, but I have rather thin skin and a little too sensitive. I know I shouldn't care about what some online person thinks I suck or whatever, but it still stings, even if I am the first to admit I suck or made a mistake. I am trying to thicken my skin a bit though. Easier said than done.</p><p> </p><p>

On top of that, it seems the MOBA communities are some of the most toxic too. Seems odd that I would be interested in such a thing considering my anxieties, no?</p><p> </p><p>

This all started last week when I was watching Day[9] (a fav gaming personality of mine) play some Heroes of the Storm. I had mentioned in his chat that the game looked fun but intimidating for someone with social anxiety. He responded saying I should join their group and play it up with his community stating that it was less toxic than others. Generally, that sounds like bologna, but his fanbase actually is rather awesome and very nice and welcoming. From my experience anyways.</p><p> </p><p>

Someone in-chat responded to me as well saying Heroes of the Storm is probably best MOBA for a newbie to get into giving a few reasons like how XP is shared amongst the team. So then I started learning more about the game and MOBAs in general such as jargon and basic gameplay mechanics. Seems like there's a bit of a learning curve, but for some reason, I'm still interested.</p><p> </p><p>

Sorry, this wasn't meant to be a long post, but it ended up being that way. I'm just curious if anyone else plays MOBAs (or more specifically, Heroes of the Storm). I would greatly appreciate some advice and I'd be willing to learn a thing or two. I'm aware I probably won't learn as much until I actually play it, but I'm just wanting to soak up as much knowledge before I make a fool of myself... if I decide to dive in.</p><p> </p><p>

Wish I had some friends that were into PC gaming like I am, but they are all console plebs <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> (JK, I have a PS4 as well).</p><p> </p><p>

On a slightly related/unrelated note, I'm also very addicted to Hearthstone <img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I've always liked the idea of MOBAs, but they all seem far too complicated for my simple brain to understand. I tried DOTA 2 and Smite, enjoyed the latter quite a bit from a casual standpoint, but overall just can't get into the genre at all. :(

I might get Heroes at some point and try it out, since it does look pretty fun.

Love Hearthstone though!

I have played a bunch of mobas. I mostly lol. There is a huge difference between playing with people you know and people you don't. If you can get a 5 man group together and play HOTS it is the most newbie friendly. When you play with friends you are playing to have fun. We you play by yourself everyone is much more worried about winning than having fun. Simple things like fighting 1 v 2 is bad fighting 2 v 1 is good knowing the objectives on maps and the timing can make a huge difference. There is a guy khaldor(sp) who you tube channel he shoutcasts competive games and adds some in site to the game. Learning a role and practicing a few of the heroes for that roll can speed up the process of improving (warrior-tank, melee assassins, ranged assassins, support etc) I have found the HOTS community went in the tank after public release and have not played much solo and don't intend to anytime soon.

good luck

It's not the best thing since sliced bread - if you thought that just because of a few positive reviews it just goes to show how negative the gaming community has become. If you can get past the fact it isn't Skyrim then it is a pretty good game that can be fun in parts and frustrating in others. I won't rehash what I've already said but most of the people bemoaning it's flaws are Elder Scrolls fanboys that were looking for the next Skyrim, which this was never billed as. It is set in the Elder Scrolls lore, it's a decent game if you're not a negative gamer who s***s on everything after an hours game play... something I was guilty of with Dying Light which went from me hating it and posting a less than informed "review" to loving it once I'd got used to the different control scheme.

I wish I had given DL a better chance but I bought it with the goal of playing multiple and as soon as I saw that my character and my co-op characters where the same I couldn't play anymore. It just killed it for me.

Picked up the TellTale collection today. I've played Walking Dead S1 and Wolf Among Us on PS3, but not Walking Dead S2, Borderlands and Game Of Thrones.

I thought £35 ($54) for all 5 games wasn't that bad as well as 5000 really easy Gamerscore

That's a really good deal. i bought all 5 on release at full price, I got a lot of enjoyment out of the various series and still feel I got a pretty good deal.

I'm playing on the one. About 50% through total. Not too far in story. Fantastic game.

I'm right after (Spoilers) Oracle's rescue and Jim's kidnapping by Scarecrow. I have done the Serial Killer (Professor Pyg), Hush and Man-Bat side missions. I'm loving the game.
