angeldelayette and jhd1 present...the Mid-South Wrestling Alliance

Recommended Posts

Thanks to all 16 (!) people who predicted on our first ever M-SWA show - your support very much appreciated. Obviously with only six points to fight for things are a little tight but here is the table after show #1;

1 20LEgend...6

2. Boltinho...5

3. bgbuff, Lexa90, smurphy1014, jtnlange and eayragt...4

4. Bigpapa42, Jingo, huddyworld, Teh Showtime and Sonfaro...3

5. Huntman, Wrestling Century, SeanMcFly and tristram...2

Congratulations go to 20LEgend for getting 100% of his predictions correct! If you think your score is wrong just let me know - I'm tired and therefore liable to make the odd mistake :D

Last but not least, here are the alts from this show;

The Deadly Alliance/Eric Tyler/Major Disaster

Greg Rayne/Rafael Ruiz/Krusher Karloff

The Wolverine alt is a facepainted version of the new render from jtlant, as is the freshly bearded Rafael Ruiz (both can be found in the Re-Render thread). Ewanite kindly added the blonde hair to his awesome new Greg Rayne render - I just changed his expression and lengthen his hair a little.

Big thanks goes to ReapeR for the awesome work he put into the Mid-South Wrestling Alliance championship belts - I'm sure you'll agree he did a fantastic job!

American Patriot vs. Major Disaster - this was the one I wasn't sure of. To me, a patriotic character, like a lot of 'gimmicked' characters suits the mid-south type promotions of the day, and that was why I thought he'd be worth a push.

Firstly - yes I suck on tips.. :=(

Secondly, I'm glad you kept Greg and Matt with their rightful wrestling surnames. I think it'd be a massive bonus to take hold of that legacy, as the surname rightly allows them to do. I'm always a bit surprised by those who choose to neglect that side of it.

Two of my favorite writers on here...together...in a small Southern fed run by Shane Sneer? Oh yeah, I'm in.

Rafael Ruiz vs. Jeffrey D. Morgan

The name's awesome. And Raffy's just a glorified, Mexican jobbing vet. He'll make anyone look good, and still lose.

Running Wolf vs. Krusher Karloff

Call me biased, but I always go for the Native American over the Communist.

I promise you, no bias.

M-SWA THE SOUTH STRIKES BACK!

Wednesday Week 1 May 2010

Location: New Mexico Armoury (Mid South)

Attendance: 818

Overall Rating: D

[The New Mexico Armoury is rocking this evening as they get ready for Mid-South Wrestling Alliance action! As the crowd turns toward the entrance, the cowboy music of our brand new M-SWA Mid-South Heavyweight Wrestling Champion begins to play...]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/FordGumble.jpg

[...Ford Gumble steps out and high fives the fans to good cheers from the crowd. He pauses and poses in front of a sign reading: 'Cowboy Gumble Champion with spurs!' He steps within the ring where he is given a wireless microphone. He raises the title belt to more cheers!...]

Ford Gumble

"YEEEHHHAAAWWWW!"

[...The crowd repeats the call...]

Ford Gumble

"It is great to be here in New Mexico! It is great to be in the Mid-South Wrestling Alliance and more importantly it is great to be the Mid-South Heavyweight Wrestling Champion! Thank you for coming out, everyone, to my first title defense this evening as the South Strikes Back. Tonight, I am going to step within the ring against the man known as the Billion Dollar Machne. Greg Rayne, it don't matter how much money you got because your money can't buy you respect from the fans and your money can't buy you this belt. Tonight, I am going to show you why this is a belt you have to earn. Yeehaw!"

[...Ford's music begins to play and Ford moves out of the ring, heading to the back.]

Match #1

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/RafaelRuiz.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/JDMorgan.jpg

Rafael Ruiz vs. Jeffrey D. Morgan

[Two definite technical wrestlers in the ring in this match. Both men lost in the semi finals of the title tournament last week. The Mexican Pit Bull went right after Morgan early on, showing that his nickname is not just hype. Morgan used the ropes several times to get Ruiz away from him. Morgan gained control with a rake of the eyes and took control back over. He focused on the back of Ruiz. Morgan snarled at the fans throughout the match, even yelling at a fan with a sign reading: 'Jeffrey D Morgan: Pride of Britain!' Within a few more minutes, Morgan locked Ruiz in the Cross Atlantic Stretch. Ruiz had no choice but to give it up.]

Winner: Jeffrey D. Morgan (Via Submission @ 9:14)

Match Rating: D

Match #2

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/RunningWolf.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/KrusherKarloff.jpg

Running Wolf vs. Krusher Karloff

[The Native American got a decent crowd ovation as he came down to the ring doing his war dance. Krusher Karloff got booed nearly out of the arena, especially after last week where he helped Greg Rayne defeat the American Patriot. He paused going up the aisle and shoved a fan who had a sign reading: 'Krusher wears pink!' Then he entered the ring as security kept the fan from coming at him. Karloff dominated the match from the outset, keeping Running Wolf down at every turn. Running Wolf got a brief momentum burst and a two count after a hard tomahawk chop. Karloff, though, nearly turned Running Wolf inside out with a Russian Sickle. Then he lifted Running Wolf -- Soviet Slam! Karloff made the cover: 1 -- 2 -- 3!]

Winner: Krusher Karloff (Via Pinfall @ 8:47)

Match Rating: E+

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/ShaneSneer.jpg

[Following the ending of that match, the crowd cheered when Shane Sneer came walking out to the ring. Sneer stepped into the ring with a microphone in hand...]

Shane Sneer

"Good evening, New Mexico! I hope you've been having a good time here tonight. We have some great matches coming up as well, such as Major Disaster taking on American Patriot and..."

Greg Rayne

"ME!"

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/RayneMan.jpg

[The crowd boos as Greg Rayne walks out from the back. Shane Sneer shakes his head as the Billion Dollar Machine walks into the ring. Greg takes a hundred dollar bill out and slides it into Shane Sneer's shirt pocket.]

Greg Rayne

"Go buy yourself a decent bottle of wine on me, Shane. Now, let me turn my attention to the one man who said tonight that he cannot be bought. Ford Gumble, son, you're making the biggest mistake of your life. Take a look at me. Take a good look at this custom made suit. This suit cost more than your house out in the country. This suit costs more than these idiots in New Mexico make in a year. My shoes cost $500 apiece. Do you really think that there's a thing in this world that I cannot buy? Tonight, you are going to receive a chance to walk away from this ring richer and without being helped by doctors. You better make the right choice. Shane, I have a business proposition for you also."

[Greg smiles and pats Shane on the shoulder. Shane looks a little confused and the two exit the ring together.]]

Match #3

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/TheIdahoPunisher.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/TheWolverine.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/WhiskyJack.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/BlackjackRobbins.jpg

M-SWA Southern Tag Team Titles Match

The Deadly Alliance defend the titles against The Tennessee Outlaws

[it was no surprise to the fans here in New Mexico that this match began as a brawl and continued as a brawl throughout. The face-painted Southern Tag Team Champions took it to both Tennessee Outlaws early on. After a quick double team behind the referee's back, Whisky Jack and Blackjack Robbins took over. They kept Idaho Punisher in their corner and hit him with hard forearm shots. Then they brought him down with a double clothesline. The Outlaws kept control until Punisher avoided a second double clothesline and brought down both members of the Tennessee Outlaws with a double clothesline of his own. Punisher tagged out to Wolverine. Wolverine brought down both Outlaws with clotheslines. He smashed their heads together! Idaho Punisher came in and attacked Whisky Jack as Wolverine grabbed Blackjack Robbins: Piledriver! Wolverine made the cover: 1 -- 2 -- 3!]

Winners: The Deadly Alliance (Via Pinfall @ 9:27)

Match Rating: E+

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/GregKeith.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/MatthewKeith.jpg

[but The Deadly Alliance did not have any time to celebrate their victory as they were attacked from behind by the Keith Brothers! Dual Proton Locks on the tag team champions! The crowd booed! Both twins released their holds at the same time and high fived each other in the ring. They looked down at the champs and motioned to their waists that they want the belts.]

Match #4

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/AmericanPatriot.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/MajorDisaster.jpg

American Patriot vs. Major Disaster

[Last week, American Patriot had a major disaster in his match against Greg Rayne. Krusher Karloff interfered and cost Patriot a spot as the number one contender. This week he looks to correct his ways by facing off with Major Disaster. The crowd began the big USA chant with American Patriot in the ring and the match was quick from the get-go. Though both men are brawlers they kept up a fast enough match that the fans wouldn't lose interest in the bout. When Major Disaster had control, the fans would rally behind American Patriot with a USA chant. Patriot used the momentum from the crowd to make his comeback and he picked up Major Disaster and dropped him with a Star Spangled Inverted Piledriver! He made a cover: 1 -- 2 -- 3!]

Winner: American Patriot (Via Pinfall @ 12:50)

Match Rating: D

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/KrusherKarloff.jpg

[As soon as American Patriot got up he was assaulted from behind by a chain held by the hands of Krusher Karloff. Karloff whipped American Patriot like a dog with the chain and then began choking him out! The referee called for the bell again and again but Karloff wouldn't listen. He finally released American Patriot and wrapped the chain around his arm. A USA chant gave American Patriot the strength to push to his feet -- Russian Sickle! Krusher Karloff hit American Patriot with that lariat with the chain wrapped around his arm! The crowd booed as Krusher raised his arms in the air, proclaiming victory for Russia!]

M-SWA Mid-South Heavyweight Wrestling Title Match

Ford Gumble defends the title against Greg Rayne

[it's main event time here at the South Strikes Back and what a main event we have! We have the number one contender: Greg Rayne facing the Mid-South Heavyweight Wrestling Champion Ford Gumble for the title. Greg Rayne came out first looking as confident as ever. He swiped a microphone on his way to the ring and then stepped inside.]

Greg Rayne

"Ford Gumble, come on down and let's get this over with."

[Greg waited and the music turned to that of Ford Gumble's! The crowd went wild as the champion walked out. He high fived the fans and raised the belt as he made his way down. He stepped inside the ring and looked toward Greg Rayne.]

Greg Rayne

"Alright, that's close enough there, cowboy. I know you said earlier what you felt you needed to say and I can respect that. You want to cater to all these rednecks in the crowd then that's fine. That's your business. But it's not mine. You see, I'm better than this. I'm better than you. I'm better than every single fan out there. Why am I better? Because I've got enough money to buy each and every one of you. Now, Ford, let's get down to business. I have enough money in my bank account that you could go on down to your ranch and live a very good life without having to worry about money ever again. If you want it, all you have to do is lay down, let me pin you and then you can go back home and enjoy the rest of your life."

[Ford looks around to the booing crowd as though he is thinking about it. The crowd definitely doesn't want him to take it. Ford gives a shrug and he nods. Greg smiles and tosses the microphone away. Ford tosses the belt away and then lies on the mat in the center of the ring. Greg is all smiles as he lays down on top and the bell sounds: 1 -- 2 -- Ford reverses it into a backslide: 1 -- 2 -- Kickout! Greg gets up and yells at Ford as Ford gets back up and brings his fingers almost together showing how close Greg Rayne was to losing the match.]

[both men were pretty evenly matched in this one and it led to a good back and forth encounter inside the ring. Neither man got the advantage early on for very long. The first big momentum swing came when Greg Rayne sent Ford Gumble outside the ring and onto the floor. Rayne followed him out and choked him on the guardrail! The crowd got behind Gumble as Rayne tossed him back inside the ring. Rayne dropped a big elbow on Gumble and then went to the top turnbuckle. Rayne leaped -- splash -- missed!]

[Gumble got the crowd cheering and clapping as he got to his feet. He went right after Rayne at around the 16 minute mark. Gumble used some quick strikes that he learned as a cruiserweight in TCW. Gumble took down Rayne with a body slam and then went to the top turnbuckle -- flying elbow drop! The crowd cheers! Gumble gets to his feet and he waits for Rayne to get up. Rayne turns -- Savate Kick! Gumble makes the cover as someone comes running from the back: 1 -- 2 -- 3!]

Winner: Ford Gumble (Via Pinfall @ 21:09)

Match Rating: D+

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/Joint%20Diary/Cards/JDMorgan.jpg

[Jeffrey D. Morgan steps in the ring as the three count is made and he lines up Gumble. Gumble gets up to celebrate and turns -- big boot! Gumble is brought down to the mat as the crowd boos. Morgan picks up Gumble -- Cross Atlantic Stretch! The crowd boos even louder! What a horrible way to end the show! Morgan releases the hold and raises his arms up in the air. Perhaps we have our next challenger?]
