...... Just a little tiny bit of info about me

 

And a special message to Remi (Who I hope is reading)

 

"For as long as I can remember, women’s wrestling has always caught my eye. I’ll be the first to admit, as a young one, I was obsessed with Sable, now known as Rena Lesnar, formerly Rena Mero. This woman couldn’t wrestle worth a lick, but when you heard that cougar roar over the PA system you know business was about to pick up.

 

As you can probably tell, I’m a WWF-WWE mark, so for the most of my life the only women’s wrestlers I saw were of course the likes of Sable, Sunny, Terri Runnels, Jacqueline, Luna, Tori, Chyna and even going as far back to Bull Nakano, Fabulous Moolah, Sherri Martel, Wendi Richter and other female legends.

 

Every now and then, the WWE will throw us a bone or two. We’ll get someone like Lita, Trish Stratus, Beth Pheonix, Gail Kim, but for the most part, Womens wrestling isn’t how it used to be in the main stream promotions. No, the real good stuff is in the Independents.

 

Most people could care less about small time womens wrestling, us fans are a rare breed indeed. Those of us who can go to a show at an all womens promotion for the actual wrestling and not the eye candy. Those of us who can name more than 5 female wrestlers not in the big leagues and get excited when we hear about their upcoming match. I’m one of those guys, I not only appreciate these women for the beauty, but for their braun also. This is why I started this website, for the women who wrestle and the fans who follow them.

 

I do have a favorite promotion though, SHIMMER, and that’s the promotion this website is dedicated too. I’ll be reviewing their DVD releases, any backstage news I can muster up, and hopefully a few interviews with the ladies of SHIMMER, if I can ever be so lucky. So sit back, enjoy the ride, and keep making that hit counter go up!"

 

OOC: Before I started this I went to our resident Womans wrestling advisor, Remi. He gave me some helpful advice about what to do with SHIMMER and how to take it, Thanks a bunch!

 

As for the diary, instead of some fancy backstory or anything, i'll just be posting results, news and other interesting findings as a guy who loves womens wrestling, updating his SHIMMER tribute site. If you guys don't like the style I can mix it up, but, I feel this to be efficient and easy to read and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I will.

Well, SHIMMER only has two belts (well three if you count the tag titles as two, but whatever.) Anyway, shouldn’t that mean the titles are in higher prestige? I think so. To be the SHIMMER Champion is an honor, hell, even to be the Tag Champions is an honor, not like you have anything else to fight for. Well, except for pride and honor of course but gold is what matters! Let’s take a look at our 2(3) champions of SHIMMER..

SHIMMER Champion: MsChif

(defeated Sara Del Rey on April 26, 2008 in Berwyn, IL)

 

"Your Soul's Tormentor" MsChif captured the SHIMMER Championship on April 26, 2008 by defeating Sara Del Rey in the main event of Vol. 18. In the time since, she has been a marked woman, with all of the competitors on the roster gunning for her title, and the chance to boast of being the woman that put an end to the Reign of Torment. MsChif has successfully defended the SHIMMER Championship not only in SHIMMER, but also on cards promoted by Ring of Honor and Full Impact Pro.

SHIMMER Tag Team Champions: "The Canadian Ninjas" Portia Perez & Nicole Matthews

(defeated Ashley Lane & Nevaeh on May 3, 2009 in Berwyn, IL)

 

Nicole Matthews is unquestionably one of the top rising stars in women's professional wrestling today. She has been able to not only achieve success in the tag team ranks by becoming the 2nd SHIMMER Tag Team Champions as part of "The Canadian Ninjas" with partner Portia Perez who is one busy Ninja herself! Trying to defend her tag titles while keeping her partner in control is a tough hill to climb. It will be interesting to see how long these two beauties can hold on to the belts!

 

Honestly, why is every woman in this company beautiful? Well, maybe 95%, but who am I to judge? Anyway these are the top dogs, the Alpha FE-males, the ones to beat. Well you get the picture. I’ll update the website next with the full SHIMMER roster! (I’ll try not to fall in love in the process)

I think she gets it from her brother, but what do I know. She plays the Old School Face gimmick great, so all you bad girls, watch out. (That sounds too hot)

Status: Manager Melanie Cruise

 

This girl can wrestle, don't be fooled by her managerial status. She's just showing ol' Melanie Cruise the ropes. Look for Social to be on a few SHIMMER DVD's as a great midcard act.

She may be short, but she sure is spunky. You know how they always say never judge a book by it's cover? Well it's true, because if you look at this book the wrong way she'll knock you on your ass. Just another woman in SHIMMER who loves to duke it out.

She's Mexican, and Japanese, you better believe this girl can fly. She worked in TNA as Hamada but her biggest accomplishments have come in Japan, winning several Womens championships. Daughter of Gran Hamada, wrestling is in her blood.

Blessed with a great look(She's hot in like a teen werewolf cool ass sexy zombie kinda way) and good performance skills to boot, when this girl gets in the ring, you never know what's going to happen. Often times i'm afraid she'll kill someone. She's wrestled for WCW and TNA, so you know she has experience. Let's see if she can take that to the SHIMMER title.

Daizee Daizee Daizee. I can't pick just one thing she's good at, because she's pretty well rounded in every aspect. While she'll give you a solid upper card bout, she also takes the time to train the younger wrestlers. A real team player.

Until they meet a Sting Ray, so I guess that's a horrible example. Totally cute though.

Has been on every SHIMMER show, was a dominate SHIMMER champion and has the skills to outwrestle ANYONE on the roster (Yes even you Cheerleader Melissa) This girl is what womens wrestling is all about, and SHIMMER has there woman for years to come.

Another Ohio native, Double S, Sassy Stephie. She has yet to make an appearance for SHIMMER, but from the video iv'e watched of her, she's decent enough in the ring to get by, and has a great menacing look.

Surprising. I didn't think you could resist mentioning who Rachel's grandfather is (OMG SIGN HER DUBYA DUBYA E!). Or how Allison comes back 3 months after having a baby still lookin' HAWT!

 

I thought about it, but I don't think many people would have even heard of the guy. (Ivan Putski)

 

And yes, on that simple fact alone, Allison Danger has given hope to all women of the world to get in shape after having kids.

SHIMMER Vol. 28 Preview!

 

SHIMMER Vol. 28 is right around the corner and I just got the 411 on the event!(From the SHIMMER Website)

 

In the main event, it's gonna get hardcore, and I mean it's gonna get hardcore fast! MsChif defends her SHIMMER championship against LuFisto AND Daffney in a three way dance. How anyone can expect MsChif to walk out of Vol. 28 the champion is beyond me, but, I guarantee the match will be one you cant' miss.

 

The woman everyone loves to hate Sara Del Rey will be taking on Madison Eagles. This is a huge chance for Eagles to knock off one of the best in the business and she will sure put her name in the hat for a SHIMMER championship match.

 

The Tag belts will be on the line as the Canadian Ninjas will face the team of Heavenly Summer(Neveah and Rachel Summerlyn) Will the Ninjas walk away still champions? Or will SHIMMER be hit with a Heavenly Heatwave?

 

In a match that is sure to be underrated and undervalued, Cheerleader Melissa will take on Daizee Haize. Watch for this bout to be the sleeper of the card.

 

Jessie McKay should be running for her life instead of showing up to her match against Amazing Kong, but as we all know, no girl in SHIMMER ever makes down from a fight. Although this is one bout i'm sure she wish was never booked.

 

The Portugese Princess Ariel will be taking on Mean Girl Melanie Cruise. This should be a fun little match, although I expect shenanigans from Annie Social! You heard it here first folks!

 

If you ask me, Volume 28 looks great with no clear cut winners! Speaking of which, let's do our first prediction contest here on the SHIMMER fan made website...

Ivan himself claims he isnt. I go with that. He slammed Shimmer for Marketing her as his Grand daughter, tho shimmer never has nor will (To Quote DP) market her as Putski grand daughter.

 

Side note dont fallow Shimmer to much in real life do ya (I been to every taping but the first 2). Madison Eagles pinned MsChif for the title at the last taping. But all and all it looks good.

You're right. She was billed as Scott's daughter but she's not. She changed her name to Summerlyn when word got back to Ivan and he raised hell about it. I've never even looked into it til now. I just remember the Queen of the Deathmatches tourney when she beat one of my favs, Vanessa Kraven, and then the next thing you know, she changes her name.

SHIMMER: Volume 28 DVD Review

 

Hello people it’s me! That guy who loves ladies wrestling who made his own SHIMMER fan website, but I’m sure you already know that since you’re on the website reading this. Anyway, I’m here today to fill you all in on what went down on the SHIMMER Volume 28 DVD.

 

Now before I get started, let me just say this. SHIMMER has changed the way that they tape their DVD’s so they are about an hour shorter and about 6 less matches. While I don’t think this necessarily hurts the promotion, I don’t think it gives certain workers a chance to shine and I hope this is something they look into, we want all the lady fighting we can get! Mind you I’m typing this as I watch the event for a second time, so these results are in real time. Don’t mind the bad jokes either.

 

Our first match of the evening was “Mean Girl” Melanie Cruz Vs. The Portuguese Princess Ariel. Annie Social was of course at ringside with her client and just like I predicted in the preview, shenanigans did occur. Now Melanie Cruz is a tall girl, 6 feet I believe, and Ariel is a miniscule 5’2”. That certainly did not matter in this match as Ariel took it to Cruz as best as she could, substituting power for speed, trying to take the large lady off her feet. Just as it looked like Ariel was going for her patented “Dariel” She was pushed off the second rope by Annie Social while Cruz feigned an injury to the referee. As soon as Ariel hit the mat, Cruz took advantage and hit the hard impact Cruz control for the win! Despite interference or not, “Mean Girl” impressed me tonight and I look forward to more of her in the future.

Up next we were shown a video showcasing our tag team champions, The Canadian Ninjas. Usually when a team gets hyped before their match that means they’re going to win, probably, maybe. The video was interesting, kinda. It simply showed them training, being ninjas, and talking about their upcoming title defense against the new team of Rachel Summerlyn and Neveah. Didn’t these two girls already have partners? IDK whatever they have a cool name regardless.

The match was to be expected; with three “veterans” of the tag scene involved in the match it was solid, if unspectacular. In the end though, the Ninjas came out on top successfully defending the titles. Heavenly Summer did impress though, and it looks like they could have another shot at the titles down the road.

Random interview time here at SHIMMER! Well it wasn’t really THAT random, since it was by Daffney talking about the main event. She said something along the lines of they don’t call her the “Scream Queen” for nothing and tonight she’s going to make both LuFisto and MsChif wish they never got in the ring with her. Now I’m not sure if she was implying that they call her the scream queen because of what she does in the bedroom, but that’s for a different story.

 

Up next we have Cheerleader Melissa, signature palm palms and all, adored by the SHIMMER faithful, taking on Daizee Haize. We all know Melissa can compete, and she sure as hell brought out the best in Haize. Not saying it’s hard to do because Haize is a good wrestler herself, but Melissa always brings out the extra in people. It was a match you would expect out of these two, back and forth, neither one really dominating. In the end though, It was Melissa who got the momentum and hit the Kudoh driver for the win.

Next up we have Death Rey, Sara Del Ray taking on relative newcomer, Madison Eagles. SDR does her usual shtick where she taunts the fans on her way to the ring, and screams something about herself being the best ever. Either way it’s awesome, she plays the character great. The fans were totally behind Eagles. She has an excellent look and most people, including myself believed she could actually win this match. Surprisingly, she used her size advantage for most of the match but the experience and greatness of Del Rey was too much to overcome. She somehow reversed a Soaring Eagle into a Royal Butterfly for the quick pin. After the match Del Rey did her usual ****y celebration, but she knew and so did everyone else in attendance that she was pushed to the limit.

Okay so I love Jessie McKay, after all she is everybody’s favorite girlfriend, but I knew, the fans knew, even she knew that this match was going to be no walk in the park. I mean hell she was facing Amazing Kong. I don’t think anyone on the roster wants to match up against this beast. The match was just a squash for start to finish, Kong was out for blood and she got it. Three Amazing Bombs later and the match was over. After the bell, to add insult to injury, Kong delivered two more Bombs and left McKay lying in the ring motionless, Talk about PMS.

Up next was the main event, the big time, the one the fans came to see, the brawl for it all, the thrilla in.. Okay I’m done I swear. Triple threat match for the SHIMMER Championship, Three ladies who knew how to give and take a beating. Most felt this match would be brutal and it did not disappoint. Stiff kicks, hard punches, big slams, face stomps, gut kicks, hair pulling, choking, ring tossing, attempted chair swinging. These ladies went above and beyond for the SHIMMER title and I was impressed.

 

The end came when MsChif was on the outside, most likely playing possum, because in the world of wrestling it’s all about being an opportunist, just ask that one blonde guy from that big promotion. Anyway, LuFisto just hit the diving headbutt on Daffney and was blindsided from behind by MsChif who hit the code green and picked up the win. The show ended with MsChif raising the title high above her head in celebration, motioning she would take on any and all challengers.

Solid show, we had a new tag team form(and lose) MsChif barely defended her championship, Sara Del Rey actually looked like she could lose to a newcomer, Amazing Kong does what she does and destroyed Jessie McKay and the rest was just typical solid SHIMMER. I can’t wait for Volume 29, and you all know who’s gonna bring you all the great SHIMMER action, THIS GUY!

SHIMMER Vol. 29 Preview!

 

SHIMMER fans i'm back! And i'm back with a preview of Volume. 29! If you thought last months show was good, wait until you hear about this one. We've got a tournament, that's right, a tournament to determine the number 1 contender to the SHIMMER championship. Only the best of the best were invited and iv'e got the full run down right here. First round matchups will be as followed..

Sara Del Rey Vs. Sarah Stock

 

Wesna Busic Vs. Cheerleader Melissa

 

Amazing Kong Vs. Ayako Hamada

 

The second round will culminate on Volume 30, with the winner of the tournament receiving a title shot on Volume 31! Speaking of the champion, she's in action as well, defending her SHIMMER title against one half of the Tag Champions, Nicole Matthews. Can the Canadian Ninjas add more gold to their collection or will MsChifs reign of torment continue?

 

Also in action we will see Cherry Bomb take on Jennifer Blake and Mercedes Martinez square up against the "Rate Tank" Kellie Skater.

 

This volume of Shimmer will no doubt shape the foundation of the promotion for months to come. Be here later this month to get my full DVD review.

 

Also, it seems like we have a lot of newcomers to SHIMMER, so i'll be detailing each no lady everytime they pop up on a Volume. I hate to leave my fans left out in the dark.
