Vista to 7?

Just wondering who around here has made the jump to the newest version of Windows, and how you've found it?

I'm thinking of picking 7 up now it's come down in price a bit, but I'm conscious that it's still a fair chunk of cash and unless the improvements are pretty noticeable I suspect it may not be worth it. I'm especially interested in speed issues, as Vista for me spends a lot of time thinking about simple tasks (responding to right-clicks being a special pain).

What are people's experiences?

<p>Well. My Desktop has XP. The other Desktop has Vista. Brothers laptop has 7.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Now I'm picky about anyone touching my computer so is my brother, but Ive been on it poking around a few times. 7 doesn't seem all that bad. It's a bit to get use to, but runs smoothly. I've found some of the features pretty decent as well. It's worth a chance.</p>

I haven't used Vista much--the PC I used for years had XP, and the laptop I got about a year ago has Windows 7. But given some of the complaints I've heard about Vista, 7 seems like a pretty nice upgrade. I know my brother absolutely hated Vista, and complained about how slow it runs. While I can't speak on Vista, I've had no real complaints with Windows 7 so far. Everything's worked pretty well, including the speed. If you use your computer frequently, and have enough spare cash, it might be worth the upgrade.

Hmmm, well, given both shops I looked in today were £20 more expensive than online, I didn't but today (but better than the £50 premium on the BD player I was looking at).

I did get to play with 7, though, and it was fast - Vista chunters along with stuff like right-clicking and even just loading up. My wife has just got a work laptop with 7 so I might try and sneak some time on that the next couple of days.

<p>I did an upgrade from Vista Home Premium 64-bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and it was the first time I ever did a Windows Upgrade (for any OS) instead of a fresh install. One thing a lot of people will tell you is this, "Win7 is exactly what Vista SHOULD have been." Those people are exactly right. </p><p> </p><p>

Microsoft failed big time with Vista and they know it. I never once had major issues using Vista and it worked like a dream on my PC that I built myself. A lot of older hardware out there was not ready for Vista and a lot of people paid the price thinking they could upgrade from XP using an older machine. I upgraded simply because I'm a computer guy and like to stay with the times. I have a laptop with XP (that I'm using right now), an iBook with OS X Tiger, and a desktop with 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. A bit much? Never! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I love Windows 7 and I highly recommend making the switch.</p>

Been thinking of upgrading my newer desktop to Win7 from Vista. I like Vista and have had no problems with it, but like what I have seen of Win7 on my brothers laptop, but my other computer will most likely not run Win7. It's old, but I like XP very much. Everyone keeps telling me XP is a POS, but I like it better than Vista, and not sure if I would give it up just yet for Win7 even if I could run it on here. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
