Round 2: Vlad continues to go for the takedown and Liddell continues to sprawl. Liddell puts him in a front headlock and pulls Vlad down to his knees. Liddell throws a huge soccer kick to the side of Vladimir’s head! Liddell throws another kick and Vladmir goes to the back to avoid more. They scramble back the feet and the round ends with Liddell stuffing another takedown. 10-9 Chuck.

Round 3: It’s a replay of the previous round, takedown stuffed, soccer kick to the head of the turtle Vladimir. Vladimir gets back to his feet and the next takedown attempt is stopped by right hand and that knocks him down and then he punches him until the referee stops it.

Official Result: 'The Iceman' Chuck Liddell defeats 'The Janitor' Vladimir Matyushenko (TKO (Strikes) in 3:27 of round 3). The match was rated as being Great.

Match #3: Tony Fryklund (+170) vs. David Menne (-220)

Round 1: A close standup battle in the first. Tony nearly hit a huge overhand right but Menne continually jabbed him. Menne wins the round on the strength of his jab. Close round.

Round 2: Menne begins to work the legs of Fryklund with kicks. Tony tries a takedown but its stuffed and Menne clinches him against the cage. Menne hits a huge elbow that cuts Tony instantly. Tony moves past a jab and scores with several right hands to the body and the race. After the flurry the referee stops the fight to check on the cut. The doctor lets it go. The round ends with another failed takedown. Menne gets the round via cut but Tony nearly was able to finish the fight.

Round 3: Both men seem to want to take the fight to the ground but neither after two attempts each is able to take them down. Menne finally is able to bring him to the ground and the match ends with Menne on top. 10-9 Menne.

Official Result: Dave Menne defeats 'The Freak' Tony Fryklund (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3). The match was rated as being Decent.

Match #4: Anderson Silva (-890) vs. Ricardo Almeida (+710)

Round 1: Silva uses his jab effectively and Almeida definitely wants the fight on the ground. He goes for a takedown but Silva hits a solid right hand knocking him to the ground. Silva 10-9.

Match #5: Matt Hughes (-550) vs. Joe Scarola (+430)

Round 1: UFC WW Champion Matt Serra was in Scarola’s corner for the bout. Hughes quickly takes him down and goes for a kimura he has it tight but Scarola somehow gets out of it. Hughes gets to mount and goes for an armbar but Scarola defends well and reverses and ends up on top and chooses to stand up. Hughes wins the round 10-9.

Round 2: Hughes gets the takedown early and throws a few simple strikes and looks to be catching his breath. He moves into an armbar and gets it, but again Scarola gets out. Hughes spends the rest of the round on top 10-9.

Round 3: Another big time takedown. Scarola once again is defending well and gets to his feet. Hughes is relentless and takes him down again. He gets another armbar but the round ends before Scarola taps. Domination by Hughes.

30-26, 30-27 (2)

Official Result: Matt Hughes defeats Joe Scarola (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3). The match was rated as being Average.

Match #6: Frank Mir (-470) vs. Kenichi Yamamoto (+370(

Round 1: Mir wins the round by being busier with the strikes. He only tried one takedown early and was unsuccessful and then decided to work the jab.

Round 2: Round 2 was similar in Mir was getting the better in the strikes and started working the leg kicks. He made sure he won the round with a late takedown.

Round 3: Mir proved to be the better fighter as he took him to the ground, got his back and RNC.

For the UFC Middleweight Championship

Round 1: Filho quickly goes for the takedown but its stuff and then he pushes Trigg against the cage and then he completes the takedown. Filho gets the mount and goes for an armbar. Trigg punches Filho until he stops the armbar attempt. They get back to the feet and after avoiding a sloppy right, Trigg peppers the jab. Filho trades shots but I think the takedown and strikes from the ground give round one to Filho.

Round 2: Filho takes Trigg down and goes for a kneebar, Trigg is unprepared for it and is forced to tap out!

Official Result: Paulo Filho defeats 'Twinkle Toes' Frank Trigg (Submission (Kneebar) in 1:25 of round 2). The match was rated as being Fantastic.
