Could go either way but Alyx is the one with title shot coming when ever he wants so I guess that you continue to build him up here.

Maurice Mackenzie vs. Blake Belushi

Maurice will likely be in Commonwealth title picture now that Swoop is the champ while Blake is solid midcarder who won´t be having singles success anytime soon.

The fight between Simonson and Swoop has been quite entertaining and it´s nice to see a good feud between two faces going for such a long time.

The show opens with the traditional APW logo, and then cuts straight to a grinning Swoop McCarthy. He’s decked out with a clipboard, an open collar shirt and a lanyard. If he wasn’t six and a half feet tall he’d look just like your average cast member. The Commonwealth title clipped around his waist also sets him apart, of course.

Swoop McCarthy: Well, hi everyone!

The grin on his face couldn’t be any bigger.

SM: When they asked me to come out here and open up the very first Australian Action, I was absolutely delighted. You see, RAW have been trying to sign me for months and months. There are times where I’ve been tempted by it, of course. And that’s for one reason. Because every single one of you out there deserves to see me week in week out. The head honcho, the Sultan of Swoop..ing... that needs more work. But we all know that I’m why you tune in, and I don’t mean that in an arrogant way. Hell, we’ve got a shedload of talent here in the APW – look at Lex Robbins jumping ship to show just how much better we are. Look at Harry Simonson and Boo Smithson – two technical wizards the likes you’ve never seen before.

Swoop acts like he’s ticking off names on his clipboard, with a laugh under his breath. Swoop unclips the belt and places it over his shoulder instead.

SM: But this absolute beauty marks me out as number one, in the greatest wrestling promotion in the Southern Hemisphere. It points to me, with a big, beautiful golden hand and says ‘This.. this guy is the chosen one’. And over the next couple of weeks, months and years, I’m going to show you all why I consider myself to be the chosen one. We don’t just have these titles, these names, given to us – we earn them.

Swoop adjusts his shades and winks at the camera.

SM: I am Swoop McCarthy.. and finally.. I’m on TV.

The Masters with Sean Quartermainne vs. Boo Smithson and Lexley Robbins

THE ACTION: The commentators use this portion of the show to welcome everyone to this pioneering hour of action, having had their traditional time taken away from them to give to the face of the people, Swoop McCarthy. The Masters seems to have become a fluid term for any pairing within Quartermainne's stable, so it's probably best not to assume that DDP and Lanny are done tagging together. This was a very fluid match, as you'd expect from some of our more talented workers, but there were some oddities in the performance as Lanny found it increasingly difficult to work with his partner. In the end, Alyx went it alone as Lanny and Sean menaced Lex from the floor of the arena, and despite Boo's best efforts, Alyx managed to hit a Carcano Kick and secure a solid win. Again, Lanny did not look impressed..

Rating: 52 / D+

Frank Mucciolio: Well, that's answered some of his critics. A big win for Macquarie - and you've got to imagine that that belt is burning a hole in him. Just when will it be cashed in?

Mitch Y. Bryson: You have to be very careful with it - and without the steadying hand of Quartermainne, he may have wasted it so far. Look at how far cashing it in got Swoop last year. Nowhere at all, Frank.

MB: Up next in our hour of power, we have Maurice Mackenzie facing down Blake Belushi, who has been massively tormented recently by his demonic ex-tag partner, Rick Stantz.

Just as the announcers begin to introduce Maurice and Blake’s match, another poor quality video is shown. The content is rather toned down due to stricter TV rules, but again Steph looks tied to a chair and desperately unhappy, and Rick is loitering in the background. Rick is laughing. Just laughing. Just as it's about to switch into hysterical laughter, he checks himself and focuses a steely stare on the camera.

Rick Stantz: Blakey... Blakey! I hear you’ve been trying to find me, Blakey. You might actually think I’m hiding. Hiding here, with my beautiful new.. acquisition.

Steph squirms as Rick walks into shot with a baseball bat. He taps her very lightly on the knee with it, causing her leg to kick in reflex.

RS: Reflex.. it’s a funny thing. The way sometimes things just.. happen. Like this. This is happening, Blake. And this is all happening because you brought it all on yourself with your ridiculous arrogance and bravado.

Rick tips Steph and the chair she’s tied to over, with a foul laugh.

RS: Cometh the hour, Blakey! Cometh the hour..

MB: And just look at how pale and miserable Belushi looks as he comes down to the ring.

FM: Why on earth is he even here? Stantz has his girlfriend and yet Blake's here, ready to get beaten to paste by Maurice.

MB: Blake is a company man and takes his contract seriously, obviously. Massive respect for him coming to compete with all this hanging over him.

THE ACTION: Far from what Mitch was saying, Blake comes out with a fire lit under him and channels some of the anger he's obviously feeling right into Maurice's nose. He's got the upper hand and using sheer speed to keep the slightly slower, bigger man off balance, when there's a disturbance in the crowd and in sprints Rick Stantz with a chair!

Boom! The referee goes down after a chairshot to the back!

Boom! Down goes Maurice!

Boom! BOOM! Down goes Blake, one in the stomach and one to the back of the skull.

Laughing, Rick grabs Maurice and with some effort hauls him over Blake, then he tries to rouse the referee. Virgil Mann drags himself over to the "pin", and counts the three - Maurice Mackenzie takes the win, but looks just as out of it as Blake is. Rick ups and leaves quickly, again through the crowd, leaving everyone confused. Which is becoming normal.

Maurice, sweating heavily and with an odd squint in his eyes after the chairshot, stomps through the gorilla position and grabs a towel off a waiting lackey. Sitting on a maintenance shaft ladder is Alyx Macquarie, who catches his eye and then jumps down to square up with him.

Into the shot steps Sean Quartermainne, flanked by Stan Standish, Debonair David Peterson and Lanny Williams.

Debonair David Peterson: If I were you, Maurice, I’d just keep walking. Just walk yourself out of my building, you little peasant.

Mo steps up to Peterson, clearly towering over him.

MM: Little?

DDP is always up for a scrap, and Stan looks ready to jump in whenever necessary. A very familiar face appears in the background, and barrelling through the group comes APW Commonwealth champion Swoop McCarthy, almost as if he didn’t see anyone even there.

Swoop McCarthy: Well, sorry about that mate! I got my game face ON, and you know how it is when you’re Commonwealth champ and... ha ha.. no, wait, you don’t! None of you know about that yet, so there’s no sense trying to explain it.

Lanny Williams: ****... you...

Sean Quartermainne: Yet, Swoop.

SM: Yet? You want to challenge me, Sean? God, I’d be scared to take on that bet – I don’t want to be responsible for the murder of a geriatric man.

SQ: You can mug it up all you like, Mr. McCarthy. But ultimately, it will be The Masters that have the last laugh. So, you go out there tonight and lose your title to Harry or to Alyx. That’s fine with me. But next week, you’re going to fight both Alyx and Maurice – at the same time.

SM: Triple threat? Hell, I always love a challenge Sean. Sounds.. delicious.

SQ: Triple threat? You absolutely, positively, bloody wish. Now get out there and get to losing that damned title of yours.

Bemused, Swoop disappears, ready to appear to his now famous music, and Maurice slinks off. The Masters seem cheered by the news, although Lanny Williams looks particularly pissed off..

MB: And now it's time for our main event! Shockingly, despite their prestige and how long they've been at the very top of our promotion, these men have never faced each other in singles competition. But tonight, they have the chance to settle what's been a growing rivalry over many, many months. Swoop McCarthy sounds completely set to defend his Commonwealth title - but the master of the Boston Crab, Harry Simonson, will look to end the reign as abruptly as Swoop's last championship.

Commonwealth Title Match

THE ACTION: A really, really pleasing match, and what a way to end our first event on TV. Simonson looked very, very solid throughout, and although some claim he's been relegated to "tag guy" status, he seemed anything but here. McCarthy again looked good, bundling Simonson around and brawling with him, but when Harry dragged him to the mat Swoop looked like he might be in trouble. Only a surprisingly flexible hip swivel managed to shake Harry out of a camel clutch, and Swoop came off the ropes with a running boot that put Harry down.

Down the ramp came Alyx Macquarie, sprinting down with Lanny Williams - but somehow the two tangled and tripped, and like something out of a Botchamania episode on Youtube, they both fell on the ramp. The Shot at the Top title comically flew up in the air, and their element of surprise was gone. Laughing, Swoop grabbed Harry and bounced him off the ropes, seizing him by the skull and smashing him to the ground with a Swoop DDT! Swoop hooks the leg and retains as the 1500 fans in attendance go ballistic, and as Lanny and Alyx try to pick themselves up and retain some form of dignity.

Rating: 63 / C

MB: A great win for Swoop McCarthy, a respectable showing from Simonson, who is clearly not past it yet - and utter humiliation for The Masters at the end. APW fans - I hope you're as happy as I am - and we'll see you this time next week for APW's Australian Action!

APW's Australian Action 1 – An APW Production

Thanks for all the predictions, a really bumper crop this week!

Now, you guys have a choice to make. I'm away from Friday AM to Monday PM next week, so won't be able to put the show up then.

So what I'm proposing is either we follow the usual schedule and the show goes up Monday PM/Tuesday AM, or we change the schedule and I put up the prediction card tomorrow and put up the event on Thursday night.

Any preference?

Swoop’s opening segment was a brave departure from how we normally open our iPPVs, but he set the crowd on fire. His pacy delivery, including namedrops of some of our more talented (but often overlooked) workers, went down a treat, and got us off to a quick and energetic start. Sure, Mitch and Frank might not have been too thrilled at being bumped – but when we asked Swoop to do this segment he could not have been happier – and he turned that enthusiasm into gold.<o>

Considering we had two main eventers in this match, we did expect it to come across better. Unfortunately, various things went wrong, although I think Mitch did a great job of selling the poor communication between Lanny and Alyx as a storytelling device rather than any clumsiness. Alyx was the weak link here, which is a shame when you look at his push – but he’s still so young there’s no need for panic yet. Lex came out looking like a star, and it was nice to give Lanny a win as he’s been rather used and abused lately.<o></o>

Rick Stantz has Drucker tied up.<o></o>

A fantastic segment which we were very, very pleased with. Drucker just lights up the screen with her sex appeal when she’s on it, and you could tell the arena just wanted her free then and there. Their empathy with Blake couldn’t be any higher. Rick is playing the mad man to absolute perfection, too. This can only get better – and that’s amazing considering I didn’t expect this storyline to last this long, let alone go even further.

Another slightly disappointing in ring match, Blake putting a little too much into looking lost and upset about Steph, and not enough into his tremendous performance skills. Maurice is still developing and growing – and rapidly – but it wasn’t quite enough to burn the house down.

Swoop, Maurice and The Masters have an altercation backstage.<o></o>

Just when I was starting to get worried, Sean Quartermainne and Swoop McCarthy save the day. Almost everything they touch turns to gold, and Sean’s stable backing him up at every turn is wonderfully sinister and give him this air of “untouchability”, if that’s even a word. Word tells me it isn’t. Oh well. The hanging confusion on Swoop’s part about quite what Sean’s words meant added more intrigue, but it’s not an answer Swoop is going to like.<o>

A match we’d all been hoping for, and it gives us big hopes for the upcoming PPV. Harry looked brilliant and held his own throughout, but just didn’t have enough to take down Swoop. The botched interference by Lanny and Alyx went off perfectly this time, and added some much needed comic relief to the event, and Swoop was left looking in a very dominant and powerful position – but importantly not to the detriment of Harry’s aura.

Final: 61 / C.<o></o>

A very, very pleasing first TV event. We are considerably taking our foot off the gas next week and slowing a little - wanting to show off some of our talent who haven’t done much recently, so expect a drop in rating. However, our storylines seem to be working and again we have plenty of space with which to move forwards!

There isn´t anyone I hate or anything but there are few who I though would do better than they have so far Cole Taylor being one of them as he had a nice tag team going with Alyx and he is about on the same level than Alyx or Banks but he´s lost into shuffle right now.

Not so much negative as in I dont like him, but I am a Stan Standish mark, and the fact that he's not beaten anyone currently on APW contract cleanly in 2 years saddens me slightly. But I do like that he is in the Masters now, so its getting better in that regard.

Mitch Y. Bryson: Welcome everyone to APW's Australian Action - the only place in the Southern Hemisphere to watch live, top class grappling competition. We are two weeks away from Fight Night, and things look to be hotting up for our next iPPV.

Frank Mucciolo: The main event could be something special - Swoop McCarthy taking on Harry Simonson in an attempt to defend his Commonwealth championship - but we all know how keen Alyx Macquarie is to cash in his title shot guarantee - and with the backup of The Masters, we could see more than one title change as a result of our main event.

MB: And up first are three quarters of The Masters - taking on a few old foes.

The Masters with Sean Quartermainne vs. Boo Smithson, Lexley Robbins and Blake Belushi

THE ACTION: An interesting opener with plenty of action and impact as these two teams of enemies face off against each other. Smithson and Robbins took the early initiative and looked to have the match under control, but Belushi didn't look to be his usual self and was continually scanning the crowd in case Rick Stantz appeared. The Masters, whilst not being the most successful group around, aren't stupid, and took advantage of this, isolating and picking Blake apart - using his paranoia against him. To the despair of Smithson and the fury of Robbins, Standish put Blake away after sixteen minutes with a Pure Breed kneedrop.

Rating: 49 / D+

MB: No sign of Stantz - but look at how it impacted Blake's performance!

FM: A big loss for Robbins again - I told you these pretty boy blondes had nothing good going for them.

MB: But therein is the problem - Robbins could be Commonwealth champ with his skills - so why is he still hanging around in the tag division?

Technical Excellence with Sean Quartermainne

Harry Simonson is backstage with Jimmy Stratosphere, and are discussing the end of the previous match, when Sean Quartermainne comes barrelling through, clearly thrilled with the result. He sees Harry and debates whether to talk to him or not, before deciding that he needs a word.

Sean Quartermainne: Mr. Simonson, I need a word.

See, I told you.

SQ: Mr. Simonson, I don’t think I need to remind you of the importance of your match with Mr. McCarthy in two weeks at Fight Night.

Harry Simonson: I’m not one of your brain dead goons, Quartermainne. I know the significance of it. And I’m going to capture the APW Commonwealth title, without any outside help.

Sean chuckles to himself and grins.

SQ: All you need to do, Mr. Simonson, is to beat your opponent enough that my associate, the glorious Mr. Macquarie, has no problems cashing in his title shot.

HS: And when I win the title? And I’m fresh and ready to kick Alyx’s head clean off?

SQ: Well, Mr. Simonson, then this happens.

The Samoan Demolition come tearing into shot, and clean house with the unaware Technical Excellence. Mananger Mac Guffin slashes into Stratosphere with his cane a few times, and Sean lets it go on for just a little longer before calling them off and sending them to the ring – palming what looks to be a handful of currency to Guffin as they go.

Samoan Demolition with Mac Guffin vs. Technical Excellence

THE ACTION: A non title match which, after the pre-match assault, was a foregone conclusion from the start. Jimmy looked to be bleeding slightly from the cane marks on his back, and Harry had a very pronounced limp. Despite a spirited attempt at a fightback, the Demolition had their number and had the bonus of the adrenaline rush, and this was over in very short order courtesy of a spinning DDT from The Devil on Stratosphere.

We cut from the savage Samoans to Maurice Mackenzie, warming up backstage just behind the ring curtain. The crowd visibly hushes as the camera pulls back and reveals...

Prophecy

The mystical spirit is stood with his hat casting shadow upon his painted face, with a long trenchcoat masking baggy combat trousers and what look like 1940s era jackboots. Maurice immediately squares up to fight, but the taller Prophecy places a hand on the top of his head, and Mo calms. When Prophecy speaks, his voice is gravelly and rough, but with a hint of amusement behind it.

Prophecy: I am not here to fight you, Mr. Mackenzie.

Maurice steps backwards quickly, allowing Prophecy’s hand to fall to the big man’s side, and snarls at him.

P: You are not – have never been – my target, Mr. Mackenzie. You have not, yet, committed the sins that your brother has committed. You do not, despite past transgressions, have a clouded soul such as his. There would be no need for me to focus my powers of retribution and purity on one such as you.

Maurice Mackenzie: I’m not afraid of you, you jumped up, “paid off the guy who runs the lighting” freak. My brother has got ahead of his own merit – sure he’s busted a few skulls here and there, but he’s never hurt anyone that didn’t need it.

Prophecy laughs – a dreadful chuckle.

P: That, Mr. Mackenzie, is where we will have to disagree. But I want you aware, in case you feel the need to turn against what is good and right and proper. I will come for you as your avenging, furious angel. As I am doing so for your doomed, eternally damned brother. Ensure, Maurice, that you make better decisions in life.

Theatrically, almost in a pantomime style, Prophecy turns on his heel and walks off, his jackboots thudding as he walks. Maurice takes a moment, as we hear his music hit through the curtain, and as Alyx Macquarie can be seen approaching down the hallway.

MM: [To himself] Use it, Mo. Use.. this...

Maurice Mackenzie and Alyx Macquarie vs. Swoop McCarthy

THE ACTION: There is an alliance here - a very uneven, untrusting alliance, but Maurice and Alyx make it work. Swoop looks on good form and comes out looking pretty powerful from this match, but he's facing down two very strong competitors and fatigue begins to work in after going all out for a lengthy time. Maurice looks powerful and has energy in abundance; it takes a strong man to throw Swoop but throw him he does, nailing a couple of beautiful german suplexes which knock the wind clear from the champ. Tagging Macquarie in, Alyx methodically works on every body part before locking him an STF. Swoop just manages to squirm for the ropes and get out of it, but Mo is back in and catches him in a bearhug, before slamming McCarthy down right on his neck. Hooking the leg - 1, 2, 3! McCarthy is pinned - but he put up enough of a fight back to still look credible.

Rating: 51 / D+

McCarthy is down, and Maurice and Alyx are celebrating, when bam! Carcano Kick! Maurice goes down as if he’s actually been shot, and as if on cue down comes Sean Quartermainne, carrying Alyx’s Shot at the Top title belt!

MB: And here comes Quartermainne – McCarthy is out of it – could this be the moment we see the Shot at the Top opportunity cashed in?

Sean slides into the ring and hurls Alyx the belt, screaming at him to hand it to the referee.

MB: But here comes Simonson – he can’t be part of this, surely?

He’s not. Simonson comes sprinting down, and slides into the ring as the referee leaves it with Alyx’s belt, off to speak to the timekeeper. He absolutely destroys Alyx with a Headshot, and helps the now stirring Swoop up and out of the ring to safety at ringside. Screaming in impotent rage, Quartermainne charges around to the referee, snatching the Shot at the Top title before disappearing quickly back up the ramp – leaving his prize signing in the middle of the ring.

Harry and a very, very confused Swoop McCarthy stand tall as Episode 2 goes off the air.

"APW's Title Races - a Recap!"

This week’s article outlines the brief history of the APW belts since the beginning of 2010.

APW Commonwealth

- - Current Champion: Swoop McCarthy – Swoop won after a brutal brawl against Killdozer at Ozfest 2012, and he hasn’t looked back. However, he’s put himself in harms way through rivalries with Harry Simonson and Maurice Mackenzie; and now General Manager Sean Quartermainne has him in his sights. Defences: 1

- - Killdozer – Six defences between April 2010 and January 2012 – a massive title reign.

- - Swoop McCarthy - Zero defences between January 2010 and April 2010 – not sure how this happened!

APW Australian

- --Current Champion: Dingo Devine – Dingo shocked the continent when he turned on Boo Smithson, but has looked a remarkably credible champion. Zero defences since he won it in December 2011 – he appears to have flown under the radar.. until now!

- - Stan Standish – One defence between May 2011 and December 2011 – Stan was handfed matches to make himself look good – but couldn’t come up with it when it mattered.

- - Rick Stantz – Four defences between August 2010 and May 2011, but he eventually cracked under massive pressure from the GM, and began the spiral to madness we know all too well today.

- - Stan Standish – One defence between December 2009 and August 2010 – pre-The Masters alignment, but not a great deal of attention was paid to this title then by the looks of it.

APW Tag Team Titles

- - Current champions: Technical Excellence – Harry and Jimmy have one defence since coming together as a tag team in late 2011. Capturing the title from the New Blondes, they look a solid pairing and could be part of the fightback against SQ and The Masters.

- - Lexley Robbins and Blake Belushi – The boys had two defences between May 2011 and November 2011, but began embroiled with Rick Stantz’s insanity.

- - The Masters – Lanny and David Peterson looked solid in their two defences between September 2010 and May 2011, but fell flat when the going got hot.

- - The Melbourne Blondes – Seems a while ago since these two were a pairing, but Rick and Blake managed two defences between August 2009 and September 2010.

APW Shot at the Top

- - Current champion: Alyx Macquarie - Through a mixture of luck and good self awareness, Alyx captured the title at Shot at the Top II. He’s yet to cash it in – but it can surely only be a matter of time.

- - Swoop McCarthy – Swoop cashed in his title but badly timed it, picking on Killdozer and giving him plenty of advance notice. McCarthy was outmatched and outgunned throughout, and ended up wasting his shot.

Boo Smithson vs. Stan Standish - Boo will challenge for ex-friend Devine's title at Fight Night - but Stan will be very keen to look strong. So too will Sean Quartermainne, so even though Boo has this on paper, don't overlook the ex-champ.

Dingo Devine vs. Lynx - Newcomer Lynx has looked good so far and could use this a stepping stone to challenge for his first APW title - but Devine will want a solid win here to tune himself up ready for Fight Night.

Swoop McCarthy and Harry Simonson vs. The Masters (DDP and Lanny) - As The Masters continue to grow, SQ has thrown his two old hands into the ring to show Harry and Swoop what happens when you continually mess with the power in this business. Considering McCarthy and Simonson will square off at Fight Night, and the fact they have a famous animosity towards each other, this could be explosive.
