Mitch Y. Bryson: It's been just five days since one of the most shocking upsets in APW history - and the dust is still settling! You join myself, Mitch Bryson, and my announcing partner Frank Mucciolo, as we try to make some sense of what we saw last week.

Frank Mucciolo: It was simply an incredible night for The Masters and Sean Quartermainne. For those of you unable or too cheap to watch the FREE iPPV, for some inexplicable reason, here's a recap.

A recap of Fight Night 2012

The recap video focuses very heavily on the actions in the main event, but a brief synopsis of what is covered over the five minute video are:

~ Dingo Devine dumping Smithson on the ground and pinning him.

~ Killdozer being taken to the limit by Robbins.

~ Stantz escaping from Blake whilst being openly challenged on the microphone.

~ Prophecy chokebombing the hell out of Maurice Mackenzie.

~ The Masters winning the tag titles after yet another bribe.

~ Swoop McCarthy retaining his Commonwealth title..

~ ...yet losing it thirty seconds later when Macquarie cashes in his title belt.

The video ends with a lingering shot of Alyx Macquarie and Sean Quartermainne stood in the ring at the end of the iPPV, holding the Commonwealth belt aloft - together.

Boo Smithson vs. Rick Stantz

THE ACTION: This is Rick's first in-ring competition since September 2011, but he's obviously been honing his skills whilst not being busily insane. There's no sign of The Blondes during the match, which you might have expected thanks to all of Rick's tormenting in recent times, but even if they'd come in the result of this match may not have changed. Many have said that Rick's mental state has been the making of him, and he looked like he could take down Killdozer tonight. Poor Smithson simply never stood a chance, and Rick mashed him up with a Stantz Cutter after ten minutes.

Rating: 43 / D

After the match, Stantz kicks Boo a few times just to make sure he's down and out, and then slides out of the ring to grab a microphone. He slithers back in and places a boot on the throat of Smithson, who has been an ally of The Blondes for quite some time.

Rick Stantz: Last week, Blakey, you challenged me to a match at Beachfront Breakdown..

He chuckles to himself, for some reason.

RS: A breakdown. You know, that's what Steph told me I was having. Some form of breakdown because I couldn't handle the demands of this much fame. This much love this much this much this much this much...

He stops, breathes and corrects himself.

RS: Blake, you want to fight me so much you'd put your hair on the line. Always so vain, Blake. That's why I ditched you and forgot all about our past. Well, not all of it, but you'll find that out soon enough. Blake, you've got your match at Breakdown - but I think you'll find it's definitely a hair versus.. care... match - and you lose whatever the outcome.

Rick laughs to himself, cradling the microphone like a baby, and refuses to give it back to anyone as he heads to the back.

Rating: 52 / D+

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: Well, now I'm just even more confused than before. What the hell does hair versus care mean, Frank?

FM: I have no idea - but there's something delicious about Blake Belushi being shaved raw right in front of our eyes. He's always tried to be the prettiest boy in the promotion - but with that jawline he's got nothing on yours truly.

MB: Incredible. Well, ladies and gentlemen, we have a rare treat for you next. Back in October 2011, RAW decided that one of their most talented wrestlers was no longer needed, and released him. After taking some time out with his family, he decided to join us, and will team up with the similar stylings of Motoichi Kuroda.

FM: Welcome to the promotion, buddy - oh and by the way, you'll be facing the Samoan Demolition. Can you imagine that booking being made backstage? Yeesh - not often you flat out DIE on your debut.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/mottykuroda.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/mondaynext.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/kingmalietoa.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/thebrisbanedevil.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/macguffin.jpg

Motoichi Kuroda and Monday Next vs. Samoan Demolition (with Mac Guffin)

THE ACTION: Frank is right - this is a pretty nasty debut to have. The Demolition looked very strong and powerful, as you would expect from them - but we could possibly have finally found a legitimate cause for Kuroda. Both he and Next consider themselves Japanese Juniors (which did prompt some psuedo racist ramblings from Frank) and didn't back down from the savage Samoans, going at them with both high flying and puro moves that you might see over in the Japanese promotions. Ultimately, this fearless and focused assault proved the undoing of the Demolition, who tend to let their hearts rule rather than their brains, and Next picked up the win with a Flash Forward on Malietoa after a solid match.

Rating: 44 / D

FM: Well, that's completely not what I expected.

MB: Welcome to the APW, Monday Next!

FM: It's still a bloody stupid name.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/stanstandish.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/harrysimonson.jpg

Stan Standish vs. Harry Simonson

THE ACTION: What's telling here is that Standish was sent out alone - rather than with Sean Quartermainne as is usual. Mitch hypothesised that Quartermainne is now purely focused on his main boy and Commonwealth champion Macquarie - but time will tell in that regard. Without SQ at ringside, Standish looked a little concerned and knew that Harry would be up for some right royal revenge after the loss of his tag title. As it was, the red mist descended, and Harry made short work of the member of The Masters. He even held in the Boston Crab for a short while after the bell, just to make sure the message was sent.

Rating: 50 / D+

MB: A resounding prod at The Masters there from Simonson - he has had absolutely enough - and I wouldn't be surprised to see him working his way through the stable one by one until it's just him and the move stealer Macquarie.

FM: He may have toppled Standish - but Williams and Peterson will be a different matter. And Alyx is just a cut above. The whole idea is stupid - but that's our Hitman I suppose!

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/swoopmccarthy.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/lannywilliams.jpg

Swoop McCarthy vs. Lanny Williams

THE ACTION: Williams was also alone - but that won't surprise anyone if you've followed the recent goings on in The Masters - most notably SQ withdrawing him from the tag title match last month. He came out with a point to prove - but so did Swoop - and McCarthy will take down almost anyone in a stand up fight like this was. Swoop toyed with the older man for a while, before bouncing him off the ropes and going for a Swoop DDT - but Lanny was ready and took him down to the ground with a Gogoplata! With Lanny on his back and Swoop locked in the hold, the ex-Commonwealth champ was slowly turning blue and looked ready to either tap or pass out - but in runs Alyx Macquarie and he smashes McCarthy with a Carcano Kick! The combination of the kick and the hold knock Swoop clean out - but the referee throws out the match and awards it to Swoop - despite the fact he was about to lose. Williams is furious, but Macquarie shrugs off his complaints, strutting back up the ramp to the catcalls of the crowd as the show goes off air.

Rating: 55 / C-

Final Rating: 52 / D+

"Introducing Lucha-Australia"

Here in Australian Pro Wrestling we've always tried to push boundaries and have always been keen to be on the cutting edge of wrestling. As such, we are thrilled to announce a new division within the company - please welcome Lucha-Australia!

Lucha libre wrestling is of course the very lifeblood of South America, and although we're pretty far removed from our cousins across the pond, the work-rate and pure skill of these competitors is breathtaking and is definitely something we want within the APW.

Our first move when establishing the tendrils of this particular division was a series of phone calls to New Zealand. We are thrilled to announce a working agreement with ZEN, which could see talent shared between the two promotions to allow full exposure to both our roster and theirs. We believe that ZEN provide a lighthearted - yet technically excellent - take on wrestling, and would love to see APW staples such as Swoop McCarthy thrilling audiences over on the island.

Our second move was to fill the division with young talent. It's all very well being predatory and stealing the workers from other promotions - but that's not what we're about. That said, we agreed as a board that Victor Goliath was the man to front up Lucha-Australia, and he was hired from DIW. He will work closely with the GM of the main roster, Sean Quartermainne, but will retain his own independence.

We wish to welcome to the promotion, specifically within our Lucha-Australia division:

Blake Flash (Free Agent)

Blue Gigas (Free Agent)

Devilfish (PPA, also working for ZEN)

El Jefe Militar (Free Agent)

Lone Shark (PPA, also working for ZEN)

Man O'War (PPA, also working for ZEN)

Necromancer (PPA, also working for ZEN)

Quick Silver (PPA, also working for ZEN)

X-Calibre (PPA, also working for ZEN)

We are thrilled at our ZEN partnership, and look forward to giving their exciting talent exposure on a national scale like they deserve. The first Lucha-Australia champion will be crowned at Beachfront Breakdown, in a traditional lucha (2 falls out of 3) match.

~ Lucien Wilder, April 2012.

Card for APW's Australian Action #5

Christopher Gerrard and Prophecy vs. Samoan Demolition - Chris Gerrard joins us from the free agent list, where he looks to be a massively promising rookie. Prophecy continues to ply his trade, dealing with those that have been causing harm on others - but can this unlikely couple take down the savage Demolition?

Lanny Williams vs. Lexley Robbins - Lexley has had numerous matches screwed up by Rick Stantz recently - but that actually gives him something in common with Lanny. Just look at last week - Lanny almost had Swoop McCarthy beaten - and then lost it due to wonky interference from Alyx Macquarie. Will Lanny continue to look strong, or will Lexley overpower the inevitable Stantz appearance?

Alyx Macquarie vs. Boo Smithson - Boo didn't quite manage to hold off the mental fury of Rick Stantz last week, but it has been said that Macquarie is simply not of the same calibre as Stantz. Can Boo get a win over the APW Commonwealth champion? Can Alyx secure himself as a talented champion who deserves the belt?

Quick Picks for APW's Australian Action #5

Alyx Macquarie vs. Boo Smithson

Lanny Williams vs. Lexley Robbins

Christopher Gerrard and Prophecy vs. Samoan Demolition

Alyx Macquarie vs. Boo Smithson

Alyx is the current champ and I expect him to be able to beat Boo who isn´t really a top contender.

Lanny Williams vs. Lexley Robbins

Could go either way but as much as I like Williams I still believe that Robbins is more likely to get the win.

Christopher Gerrard and Prophecy vs. Samoan Demolition

Not really sure about this one as my first instinct is to go with named team but Prophecy is the one who has most going on... In the end I go with Prophecy as he´s feud with Killdozer is one of the top feuds right now.

Alyx Macquarie vs. Boo Smithson

Booking your champion to lose to a gatekeeper would be an unwise decision in my book.

Lanny Williams vs. Lexley Robbins

Between Rick Stantz interference and me wanting Lanny to get a good push I must make this pick.

Christopher Gerrard and Prophecy vs. Samoan Demolition

McKenzies get Prophecys attention, and Gerrard is no match for the Samoans.

Blake Belushi with Lexley Robbins

The show unusually starts with a pre-taped video, where Lexley Robbins is sat preening himself before his match later on tonight. A shadow falls over him, and he grins as he looks up and sees Blake there.

Lexley Robbins: Well, good evening mate! No Steph with you?

Blake Belushi: Steph still ain't right after her time with Stantz. Still being sick a lot. Must be the trauma.

LR: He'll pay for it at Breakdown; you'll tear him six new arseholes.

The two chuckle.

LR: So what can I do for you? Didn't think you had a match tonight?

BB: I don't, but I think it's time we called an end to our team.

Lex looks slightly crestfallen, but doesn't seem surprised.

LR: How come?

BB: All this stuff with Rick isn't fair on you. I appreciate the fact you've tried to take it all on the chin and keep on fighting him off - but you didn't head here from RAW just to get sneak-attacked by a psychopath who - let's face it - has no reason at all to be taking you on.

LR: I appreciate it, but-

BB: Lex, there's no but here. I've told Quartermainne not to book us as a team any more. It's been an awesome year and I thank you for it - but there's some things I have to do alone. And punishing Stantz is top of the list.

Lex stands up and embraces Blake with a big, crushing man-hug.

LR: You look after yourself, and hopefully we can have some one-offs to keep the fires burning, eh?

Blake simply nods and exits, as an era ends.

Christopher Gerrard and Prophecy vs. Samoan Demolition (with Mac Guffin)

THE ACTION: An interesting debut for the youngster, touted as "The Natural" for his athletic ability. But there's only so much you can do with your athletic gifts when a giant Samoan is trying to pull your arm from the socket and beat you with the soggy end. However, the Demolition's domination came to an end when the even more massive Prophecy managed to tag in, and cleaned house. He even ended up ringside and took a direct hit from Mac Guffin's cane, but stood standing and clocked him under the chin. One chokebomb on Malietoa next, and Prophecy grabbed the pin.

Rating: 42 / D

Mitch Y. Bryson: Prophecy looks like a monster - and if he can handle the Samoans like that, then he may just have a chance against Killdozer.

Frank Mucciolo: Oh yes, beating up on some squat savages is totally on the same level as fighting a raving manbeast. Nice comparison, Mitch.

Lexley Robbins vs. Lanny Williams

THE ACTION: As the internet cries out for Lanny Williams to be given the freedom that a face turn may provide, in this match he looked solidly outmatched by the younger and more exuberant Robbins. Despite having been part of the now defunct Blondes for over a year, Robbins has always been a solo competitor in RAW and looked very strong here. Williams' technical skills brought the best out of his opponent and they put on a really awesome match, which looked to be about to turn sour when Rick Stantz ran in after about nine minutes. However, Lexley was waiting, and Lanny even backed off into the corner a little, and as Rick slid in Lex lifted the psycho up and then Butterfly Powerbombed him back down to the mat! Lanny tried to take advantage of the distraction, as you would expect - but Lex had him scouted and swept his leg before putting on a very nasty looking ankle lock. Lanny taps - but the true story here is that Stantz is finally down.

Rating: 55 / C-

MB: Robbins may have - finally - got the incredibly insane monkey that is Rick Stantz off his back - and now he can forge his career ahead.

FM: And leave his tag partner behind to deal with the mental. Yeah, that's truly honourable, Mitch. Real classy of him.

MB: You saw his face earlier. Lex wasn't thrilled with Blake dissolving the team - but it's obvious he's going to try to make the most of it in the future. Blake was right - Lex didn't come here from RAW just to have his matches ruined by the world's creepiest jerk.

FM: I thought World's Creepiest Jerk 2012 was Crazy Train?

MB: Nope, just the Southern Hemisphere..

Swoop McCarthy

McCarthy is striding backstage with an absolute purpose, and we can see he has a freshly branded APW microphone in his hand

MB: And here comes Swoop McCarthy - primed to take on Macquarie in the main event tonight until management decided Smithson might be a better fit.

FM: He looks even more constipated than usual.

MB: That's intensity, Frank - and I'm being told that McCarthy is on his way to sort Macquarie out once and for all-

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/mauricemackenzie.jpg

Maurice Mackenzie

Mackenzie out of absolutely nowhere! Bam! Chairshot to the back of the skull! Boom! Chairshot to the back! Bang! A chairshot to the legs, just to keep Swoop down! Maurice drags Swoop to a seated position against the wall, where he sits dazed. Mo places the chair legs in Swoop's lap, with the folded metal parts of the chair right in his face. He takes one, two steps back - and then CRUNCH - a huge big boot to the face. Laughing as Swoop's forehead starts to leak, Mo struts off.

Alyx Macquarie (with Sean Quartermainne) vs. Boo Smithson

THE ACTION: A pretty disappointing main event, with Boo trying to do all he can but Alyx looking rather swamped out there. Quartermainne riled up the crowd to a good extent, but this wasn't really salvageable with numerous botched spots and the fans simply not into it. A very drab affair ended after twelve minutes when Alyx hit a wonderful jumping Carcano Kick and sent the hobo through one and a half rotations with the impact.

FM: A true champ, Mitch. Macquarie is the real deal.

MB: Just a shame that McCarthy didn't get a chance to straighten things out earlier. Folks, it's been a pleasure - we'll see you next week on Australian Action!

Maurice Mackenzie

The commentators may have signed off, but there's still one segment left to air. Mackenzie is walking backstage, clearly thrilled with himself. He has a leather jacket and Kanye style shades on, and can't wipe the grin off his face. As he heads out to the parking area, a dark shape drops down on him and a brief scuffle ensues. Maurice finds himself flat on his back, and unable to move as his assailant rains down punches again and again and again. As tough as he is, there's only so much a skull can take, and Maurice is clearly unable to focus his eyes as his attacker stands up off him. We don't get a clear view of the person that is beating him, but we see the shape climb up a set of storage crates, and then put his back into shoving one of them. It pitches off the racking, and straight down onto Mo, pinning him there.

??: You want a war? You got a war, you ****ing idiot!

The last thing we see as we go off air is the face of this new attacker, striding away from the assault, still bleeding from the head wound sustained earlier. The grin on his face is unmistakable..

23rd April 1986), is an Australian professional wrestler working for APW. He performs for the company under the ring name Alyx Macquarie. He is former APW Tag Team Champion and is the current APW Commonwealth champion. He also won the Shot at the Top match in 2011.

Professional Wrestling Career

Training and independent circuit

Alyx grew up with a love of professional wrestling, attending as many local shows as he could. As soon as he hit 16, his parents paid for him to receive training at the Melbourne Professional Wrestling training camp, and his natural spark was revealed to all. MPW held back on offering him a contract until he turned 18, yet it is rumoured that many verbal agreements were reached prior to this time. Alyx’s most famous independent match is one that he lost to the hands of Harry Simonson, then known as Harry Hitman, where he was gashed open by loose stiching on one of Harry’s boots. Simonson apologised publicly for the incident immediately afterwards, but it was to be Alyx’s last independent booking.

Melbourne Professional Wrestling

On his 18th birthday, Alyx signed his first professional contract with the Melbourne-based promotion. However, his star did not begin to take off as around this date, Swoop McCarthy was brought in – and the results from Swoop vastly outclassed even Alyx’s impressive ringwork. Alyx found himself placed into random tag teams to see where he would stick, but was growing increasingly unhappy. Macquarie found that he was not in the picture for any of the titles, even the lowly Shooting Starz belt, and resolved himself to jump ship to Adelaide Pro Wrestling in January 2007, where a programme was planned with David Peterson. The contract was mysteriously delayed for a month, until it was announced the Adelaide Pro was to merge with Australian Pro Wrestling in February 2007.

Australian Pro Wrestling

The East Coast Rebels – (2007 – 2011)

The emergence of the “mega-company”, buying out all of the smaller territories, ended numerous careers (most famously, that of Captain Australia, who refused to become involved with a “soulless monstrosity”). However, it could not have come at a better time for Macquarie. His yet to begin contract with Adelaide Pro was simply rewritten, and he was brought in and paired with Cole Taylor. Playing as The East Coast Rebels, the two found they worked fantastically well together – and Alyx felt that he had finally found a place he could “stick”. They worked almost exclusively as a tag unit until they were rewarded for their loyalty and skill with a tag team title reign from March to August 2009.

The Masters (2011 – Present)

Alyx was quickly finding himself sinking, as The Rebels began to become stale and fans often used their matches as bathroom breaks. However, a series of decisions were made in his favour by General Manager Sean Quartermainne, until it was revealed that Alyx was to be joining the group “The Masters”. Since then, his career has gone from strength to strength. Winning the Shot at the Top match in August 2011 gave him the springboard to get into the main event scene, and with Quartermainne assisting Alyx seems to have been given every chance. A feud with Harry Simonson resurfaced, as Alyx adopted a move very similar to Harry’s finishing Headshot, but has yet to be fully recognised. He is currently on a 5-1 streak in 2012, including taking the APW Commonwealth championship from Swoop McCarthy in controversial circumstances at Fight Night 2012. The sky appears to be the limit for the man who is arguably the #1 heel in Australian Pro Wrestling at this point.

Card for APW's Australian Action #6

Killdozer vs. Monday Next and Motoichi Kuroda - Dozer hasn't exactly fired on all cylinders recently. Next and Kuroda have struck up a friendship and could be a partnership into the future, with their Japanese Junior style meshing admirably - but it's all very well chopping your way around - but can you take down the biggest tree in the forest?

Lone Shark and Man O'War vs. Necromancer and Devilfish - Our Lucha-Australia division kicks off in style, with a tag team match which should feature high flying shenanigans. With Lucha division manager Victor Goliath set to make a statement about his ideas for this part of APW, each will be keen to impress and this should be big.

Rick Stantz vs. Lynx - Lynx's initial momentum appears to have stalled, and Stantz is a nasty customer. With Rick gearing up for a hair vs. hair match at Beachfront Breakdown, a win here will be huge. Can Lynx get back on track?

Harry Simonson and Swoop McCarthy vs. Alyx Macquarie and Lanny Williams - Two very unharmonious tag teams will stare each other down. Harry and Swoop's rivalry has been historic - if a little reduced in tension recently - and the newer problems between Macquarie and Williams haven't quite gone supernova yet. Will AA6 be the night?

Quick Picks for APW's Australian Action #6

Killdozer vs. Monday Next and Motoichi Kuroda

Lone Shark and Man O'War vs. Necromancer and Devilfish

Rick Stantz vs. Lynx

Harry Simonson and Swoop McCarthy vs. Alyx Macquarie and Lanny Williams

Bonus participation point - if you could see any Australian superstar put under a mask and snuck into the Lucha-Oz scene - who would it be and why? Random number generator will award a bonus point!

Killdozer vs. Monday Next and Motoichi Kuroda

I guess this is here in order to remind everyone how dominant Killdozer can be.

Lone Shark and Man O'War vs. Necromancer and Devilfish

Could go either way but Shark + O´War have more upside on my opinion.

Rick Stantz vs. Lynx

Stantz is the one who have storyline going on.

Harry Simonson and Swoop McCarthy vs. Alyx Macquarie and Lanny Williams

Alyx and Lanny will lose because of miss communication or turn.

Bonus participation point - if you could see any Australian superstar put under a mask and snuck into the Lucha-Oz scene - who would it be and why? Random number generator will award a bonus point!

Any Cruiserweight / Japanese junior basically but Jimmy Stratosphere would be my first option, or maybe Motty Kuroda who could use some freshen up after his team with Jimmy was broken.

Killdozer vs. Monday Next and Motoichi Kuroda

Dozer is Dozer. MN and Motty aren't in his atmosphere.

Lone Shark and Man O'War vs. Necromancer and Devilfish

Haven't messed with ZEN much, but I'd bring the babyfaces up with the win.

Rick Stantz vs. Lynx

Lynx seems to be fodder for right now.

Harry Simonson and Swoop McCarthy vs. Alyx Macquarie and Lanny Williams

I was gonna pick Lanny but I like Zergon's idea of the miscommunication or turn so I'm going to agree.

Bonus participation point - if you could see any Australian superstar put under a mask and snuck into the Lucha-Oz scene - who would it be and why? Random number generator will award a bonus point!

If Rod Sullivan is available he's a value addition. If you are really gutsy you could give East Coast Panther a shot. He might be able to give you some decent flying matches if he doesn't kill anyone. Hard for me to tell who has debuted in your game since mine rarely last this long. lol Not many flyers outside of ZEN

Sean Quartermainne with Victor Goliath

Again, an unusual start to the show. When does it become usual to have something unusual, I wonder. This time, Quartermainne is arranging his turtleneck over his jumper, and seems to be moaning about "not wanting to have to talk about these stupid Mexi-". He's cut off as someone obviously manages to communicate that the show has actually gone on air, and stops himself remarkably quickly. The trademark sleazy grin comes across, as into the frame steps Victor Goliath, new commissioner of the Lucha-Australia division. His face is devoid of emotion, as is usual, and the edges of his face are accentuated by the lighting. He doesn't look like a man you'd want to upset.

Sean Quartermainne: Well, I'm not sure what you've done to deserve it, Australia - but as you full well know, we are about to expand even further. Not content with just a TV show, Lucha-Australia will begin airing matches very soon, and it's about time I introduced the commissioner of the division. Joining us from Deep Impact Wrestling, please welcome Victor Goliath.

Goliath clears his throat, as this is ultimately his moment. Dwell down in the lower reaches of Deep Impact Wrestling as a simple manager, or be a reliable authority figure in a televised promotion. Sink or swim.

Victor Goliath: My message for fans of Australian Pro Wrestling is simple. I come from Deep Impact, and for a while, what you find entertaining has been my antithesis. However, my new position of responsibility is a great opportunity to show that not all Australian wrestling fans are overly smarky technical wankers. Lucha-Australia is a tremendously promising chance for the unloved and the unknown of Australia to finally show what they can do, and I am not about to waste it.

Goliath takes a moment to breathe, some sweat beginning to form on his shaved forehead as he gets going.

VG: I can promise you that there is no predetermined order to Lucha-Australia. All come in on the bottom of the ladder, and all will fight to the top. Tonight, we will see our first ever match from the division, and I am sure it will be wonderful. But the division is officially on notice - no-one is guaranteed a future here. Sink or swim. The two men that impress me the most in these few short weeks will participate at APW's Beachfront Breakdown for the APW Lucha-Australia championship. And it could be anyone from this division. Luchas - it's your time to shine.

Killdozer vs. Monday Next and Motoichi Kuroda

THE ACTION: Monday Next may have preferred remaining on the unemployment market to this. Dozer rampaged around the ring, cutting short the commentators' belated welcoming to the show, as they fell silent at the sheer power on display. Like a beast unleashed, he throw Motty around as Next looked on rather horrified, until Monday managed to tag himself into the match. A brave move, but what came next was even braver - a withering barrage of kicks and chops that took the big man to one knee, then to a crawl, and then finally flat onto his face. Breathing hard, and in a martial arts stance, Next tagged in Motoichi for the finish, but that momentary respite was all Dozer needed to recover. One splintering 300lb Spear next and Motty was folded straight down the middle and pinned. Game over, Japanese juniors.

Rating: 49 / D+

Mitch Y. Bryson: Next could be the real deal - what a fantastically impressive fight from that young man.

Frank Mucciolo: But how absolutely clueless at the same time - what stupid bastard would give Dozer time to recover and get up? A rookie error.

MB: But you can't argue that without that mistake, this match was won for Next?

FM: I can argue with a corpse, Mitch. There's no limit to what I can argue against. But I have to say, it looked very promising for them.

Devilfish and Necromancer vs. Man O'War and Lone Shark

THE ACTION: So, the first Lucha-Australia match is up, and is talked up massively but the commentators, but you have to say that not performing this match under traditional 2/3 rules majorly missed a trick. One for the future. The match was lightening quick, with constant tagging in and out, marking this division out as an athletic cut above the rest. It was interesting to see this ZEN talent performing with most of their comedy cut out, as they showed a huge amount of ability - but the ending had a good nod to APW's talent trading partners, as Man O'War got himself in an "ARR!"-ing contest with a fan, and ended up getting stuck with a Dark Device double knee to the back courtesy of Necromancer, and was pinned.

Rating: 40 / D-

MB: Lightening quick athleticism, with the mystique of masks and some flat out nonsense moments. Welcome to Lucha-Australia, APW fans! We'll have more from the division next week - only on Australian Action!

Killdozer

Dozer looks to be back to his championship self, and roars down to the four bemused luchas. They may have come across big men before, but comparing a big man to Dozer is like comparing a dinghy to an oil tanker. He tears through all four of them, giving Necromancer a 300lb Spear, before turning on Man O'War, who tries to take him down whilst calling out his latest nautical catchphrase ("Poseidon, look at me!"). He is met by a crunching lariat for his trouble, which flips him in the air twice. Devilfish bugs out, but Lone Shark tries to take down Dozer with a crossbody. That's just dumb. Dozer lifts him up in a gorilla press slam, and then unceremoniously dumps him over the top rope to the ground. He turns his attention to the grounded Necromancer, but..

Prophecy

Never one to let a bully go untouched, Prophecy appears, and Dozer freezes. However, where the appearance of his nemesis may once have put Dozer down, frothing and seizing, he seems made of sterner stuff now. Bearing his teeth in an animal grimace, Dozer hops out of the ring and disappears out into the crowd, not willing to risk a confrontation.

MB: Dozer hasn't got the stomach for a fight tonight, clearly.

FM: But don't forget - these two are set to go at it at Beachfront Breakdown - that could be the most bloody match we've ever seen.

Rating: 69 / C+

Rick Stantz vs. Lynx

THE ACTION: A decent warmup, with Stantz carrying the whole shebang as Lynx continues to learn and develop. His skills are developing but he was very much simply a vessel for Rick to look good ahead of his upcoming hair match against Blake Belushi. Stantz looked vicious and angry throughout, and sealed the deal with a Stantz Cutter after eight minutes - before hitting Lynx again with another two before finally hooking the leg.

Rating: 40 / D-

MB: Cruel and unusual punishment from Rick Stantz there - one cutter was enough surely?

FM: Enough to get a message home to Blake Belushi - this is the kind of unhinged, desperate person that you will be dealing with in a few weeks. Are you man enough, "Blakey"?

Alyx Macquarie and Lanny Williams vs. Harry Simonson and Swoop McCarthy

FM: Just look at Alyx strutting along with that title - and just look at Williams coming out without one.

MB: He really should have been in that match, rather than Stan Standish.

FM: I've gotta say it - Quartermainne made the right choice, as ever.

As the two devolve into bickering, a very good match is developing in the ring. Macquarie and Williams never look truly happy working together, but are professional enough to try to take their rivals down a peg or two. McCarthy and Simonson look to have truly put their past behind them - for now - and what results is a massively pleasing contest between four of the biggest stars in the country. Neither side truly has an advantage, until Harry and Alyx end up staring each other down in the ring, each turned sideways and stopped mid finisher. With identical finishers between them, both of them know they're on to a no-win situation, and the air is almost sucked out of the building by the crowd. Unfortunately for fans of good, clean endings, Maurice Mackenzie appears out of nowhere and drags Swoop off the apron, before Killdozer grabs Lanny almost at the same time. Prophecy rumbles down to get involved, out come the whole Masters stable, and we have an incredible brawl developing. With an incredible bellow of "Oh, **** this!", the referee calls time on the match, throwing it out as a draw - but the brawl shows no sign of slowing down as the show goes off air.

Rating: 54 / C-

Final Rating: 52 / D+

I think from now on, rather than doing a big long column after every event, I'll restrict it to the PPVs and just run down the card below for the TV events. Hope that's ok!

Rick Stantz vs. Lexley Robbins

These two have never met in a match - but there has been plenty of conflict in recent times. Lexley can bury Stantz once and for all, damaging his momentum for Beachfront Breakdown - or Rick can claim a fairly lofty skull in his quest for.. well, whatever the hell he wants.

Reverb, Necromancer and El Jefe Militar vs. X-Calibre, Man O'War and Black Flash

A traditional, two out of three falls, 6 man match. Newcomer Reverb looks oddly familiar in his press release photo, and Black Flash will want to look solid in his return to the APW. With a title shot hanging over their heads, will anyone step it up enough to earn it?

Blake Belushi vs. Lanny Williams

Old foes meet again, as Lanny looks to remain strong in the eyes of stable head Sean Quartermainne. Blake risks his hair in his match with Rick Stantz at Breakdown, and a win over the technical master that is Lanny Williams would really improve his chances.

Alyx Macquarie, Maurice Mackenzie and Killdozer vs. Harry Simonson, Swoop McCarthy and Prophecy

A possible match for the ages. Each of these pairs of men will face up at Beachfront Breakdown, so what better way to prepare than a truly titanic six man tag team match? Either the fan favourites or the villains will recieve a major bump on their way to the iPPV - which side will it be?

Quick Picks for APW's Australian Action #7

Alyx Macquarie, Maurice Mackenzie and Killdozer vs. Harry Simonson, Swoop McCarthy and Prophecy

Blake Belushi vs. Lanny Williams

Reverb, Necromancer and El Jefe Militar vs. X-Calibre, Man O'War and Black Flash

Rick Stantz vs. Lexley Robbins

Bonus Point Question! Reverb is a masked, repackaged person well known across the Australian scene. His name is consistent with his previous name - who on earth is he?

Alyx Macquarie, Maurice Mackenzie and Killdozer vs. Harry Simonson, Swoop McCarthy and Prophecy

Not sure why but for some reason I think that heels need the win more.

Blake Belushi vs. Lanny Williams

Coin flip. Belushi is the one with a big match coming so he will probably win but I just have to go with Lanny.

Reverb, Necromancer and El Jefe Militar vs. X-Calibre, Man O'War and Black Flash

I guess this one debends about who Reverb is but I go with O´War and friends as El Jefe surely doesn´t have any overness in Australia-

Rick Stantz vs. Lexley Robbins

Could go either way but Stantz is the one who has storyline going.

I have no idea and I even opened the game to try to find someone but it seems that I need better clues than that:p. Well I go with Pookie Possum just because I think he would fit in and since he has some popularity.

Mitch Y. Bryson: Welcome everyone watching at home on this fine Friday night - this is APW's Australian Action, and we are just one night away from Beachfront Breakdown. Our main event tonight looks like it could be absolutely explosive, as Prophecy, Swoop McCarthy and Harry Simonson all team up against The Brothers Mackenzie and Alyx Macquarie.

Frank Mucciolo: But don't forget, tonight is our first ever APW Lucha-libre rules match - and we have high hopes for that as Goliath looks to pick his top two to fight for the title.

MB: Let's get straight on with the combat, then. Up first - Rick Stantz goes into Beachfront Breakdown with his hair on the line. Lexley Robbins has had his fair share of issues with Rick recently - how will the psychopath deal with the truly tricky "Lex Appeal" of Robbins?

Rick Stantz vs. Lexley Robbins

THE ACTION: Stantz has quickly become a reliable opener, with the APW way being to open hot with a solid match. Robbins is also a consumate professional, and didn't object to taking the fall in this match as I think he realises what we need from the storyline. It should be the last time these two face down for a while, and Stantz seals the deal with a jumping and revolving Stantz Cutter after twelve minutes.

Sean Quartermainne with Victor Goliath

We are suddenly backstage, peeking in on a blazing row. The two are right in each others faces, and clearly not the harmonious pairing that some predicted we'd be seeing.

Victor Goliath: I absolutely, positively, cannot believe you have managed to screw up this bad. I mean, I know there's incompetence in the management here, but come on!

Sean Quartermainne: Yes, it was purely my fault that he's elsewhere tonight. Not the responsibility of you, the Lucha-Australia general manager, to check that all your workers were available.

VG: You sign off on everything, Sean.

SQ: But you were the one who brought him in. And now he's not here tonight, and you'll have to find a fill in for the match. You're an idiot, Victor. And now you've gone and proven right what everyone's been saying about you.

VG: Oh yes? And what's that, then?

SQ: That you and your pissy division are a two bit flash in the pan, and won't last til the Summer.

Victor bites his tongue, mutters something about finding the replacement now, and stomps off. Quartermainne stands aloof, clearly proud of himself.

Rating: 51 / D+

MB: So someone is missing tonight - and it's someone from the Lucha division. A big setback to Goliath, for sure.

FM: What kind of GM can't work out how to use a calendar?

Devilfish, El Jefe Militar and Necromancer vs. Man O'War, Black Flash and X-Calibre

MB: So, it's the fabled "Reverb" that's missing tonight - and for all his billing on the APW website, this is a pretty major development. You've got to imagine that this match will rather fall flat on the expectations our fans have for it tonight.

THE ACTION: It does. Reverb is, somehow, working for another company tonight, despite him supposedly meant to be available for us. Stupidity. So, in slots Devilfish, who does okay, but this match is massively disappointing and needed Reverb's main event calibre. Poor, poor, poor. The faces win a 2-1 victory in a fairly short match, with Man O'War pinning Militar first, then Necromancer crushing Flash to the ground, and then X-Calibre showing his class with another pin on Militar. Poor Mexican jobber.

Lanny Williams vs. Blake Belushi

THE ACTION: The commentators remarked on being able to set their watches by Stantz appearing in a Belushi match, and they were right yet again. Blake and Lanny had a fairly enjoyable brawl with some technical work taking place, but the fans were most surprised when Rick hit the ring and found Williams waiting for him as Blake tried to flank him. Lanny took him down to the mat and locked in a chinlock, and Blake took a run up - baseball slide straight to the face! Rick's nose almost explodes, and Lanny releases him from the hold, allowing the psycho to escape. The match continues for a short while longer, but for once Blake has momentum and age on his side, and Williams tires. One boot to the stomach which leaves Lanny doubled over, and Blake knocks him down with an Axe Kick. Momentum Belushi!

Rating: 47 / D

MB: A win for Stantz and a win for Belushi - their match at Beachfront is going to be a very interesting ordeal indeed.

Swoop McCarthy, Prophecy and Harry Simonson vs. Maucie Mackenzie, Killdozer and Alyx Macquarie

THE ACTION: A solid match but not what you'd expect considering the sheer talent in the main event. Each of these men will face off tomorrow, and each was in conservation mode, avoiding as much damage as they possibly could. This resulted in a far less quality competition, but it easily devolved into farce quickly too. Shenanigans ahoy as first Quartermainne intervened, then the rest of The Masters, and then in came Monday Next and Motoichi Kuroda to try and balance it out. Again, and a repeat of recent events, the referee is left exasperated with the muscleheads ignoring him, and abandons the match.

Rating: 49 / D+
