Killdozer vs. Harry Simonson (APW Commonwealth championship)

Champ is kept strong...

Swoop McCarthy vs. Lanny Williams

...as is number one contender

Boo Smithson vs. Stan Standish

Could be a bounce back win for Standish but Boo seems to have more going on right now.

Rick Stantz vs. Big Daddy Horne (APW Australian championship)

Standard first title defense

The Melbourne Blondes vs. The East Coast Rebels vs. The Masters (APW tag team championship scramble match).

With Stantz having another match (and title) I think that Blondes will lose the tag titles here and Masters seems like better option as next champs to me.

Mitch Y. Bryson: Welcome to the internet telecast of APW's Championship Carnival - the only night in the world where a company puts all of its titles on the line! I'm Mitch Bryson and with me is the ever charming Frank Mucciolio.

Frank Mucciolio: Thanks, Mitch. It's time tonight to see quite what mottle Rick Stantz actually has - he's on double duty. But so too is Lanny Williams. This could be a busy night!

Swoop McCarthy vs. Lanny Williams with Sean Quartermainne

FM: I'm not entirely sure this is a fair match, Mitch. Lanny is going for the tag titles later on tonight, yet is expected to exhaust himself here first? It's almost as if the APW management is against The Masters.

MB: Yet Sean Quartermainne is ON the management? Come on Frank, think things through before you spout them.

THE ACTION: A pretty simple match, Swoop is getting back into the swing of things and goes on a three match winning streak here. Lanny Williams gets knocked around for a while before Quartermainne calls out something to him,. Lanny drops out of the ring and walks up the ramp - willing to take a countout but not a Swoop DDT that might jeopardise him later.

Rating: 52 / D+

MB: That's the second night in a row that we've had the opening match end like that. Let's have a bit more class, APW superstars!

FM: Clever and sensible gameplanning, Mitch. Very clever indeed.

Stan Standish with Max Forbes vs. Boo Smithson with Ceri Dordevich

FM: We-hell who is this pretty lady?

MB: This is, apparently, Ceri Dordevich, Frank. She's said to be Boo's biggest fan, and he's agreed to let her accompany him ringside tonight.

FM: He told her that, huh?

MB: Welcome to the APW, Ceri.

THE ACTION: Boo seems fired up and takes the match straight to Standish. Stan is clearly still furious from last month, and seeks to take it out on the bum. However, Boo seems re-energised with Ceri at ringside, cheering him on loudly, and has the measure of him. To try to equalise it, Max Forbes tries to slide some form of foreign object into the ring, but is turned around and punched right in the mouth by Ceri! Standish can't believe what he's seen, Forbes just falls over and lays there looking like a fish gasping for air - and Boo swoops, locking in a sleeperhold that puts Stan out like a light. Smithson wins!

Rating: 50 / D+

MB: Smithson wins! A win for fair play and integrity!

FM: You wouldn't be cheering if Max had punched HER in the mouth. Gender inequality makes me sad, Mitch.

MB: So, we’re heading backstage now where Lucien Wilder has got Swoop McCarthy!

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/lucienwilder.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/with.pnghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/swoopmccarthy.jpg

Swoop is still glistening with sweat after his match with Lanny a short time ago, but exudes and oozes energy still.

LW: Swoop, you’ve still got it. A big win over Lanny Williams!

SM: That’s not a big win, Wilder! It’s just a win! There’s no such thing as a big win unless you’re getting your title back! And that’s exactly what I plan to do.

LW: Well, as the Shot at the Top winner, you’ve got the title shot available. I take it you’re going to save it until the time is right?

SM: What? With all due respect to Rick Stantz and everyone else that has cashed in a shot at short notice – that’s not how I do business. Dozer, me and you are going to have our title match at the Early Christmas Bash! I don’t do sneak attacks, I don’t do picking on you when you’re weak.

He straightens up and raises his eyebrow and grins at the camera. Stares right into it.

SM: I am Swoop McCarthy. And I will beat you, Killdozer.

Rating: 50 / D+

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: Intensity from Swoop. How will Dozer respond later?

FM: Oh god, have you seen what's up next?

MB: ... oh good. Folks, our first title match is up next. Rick Stantz will defend his Australian championship against Big Daddy Horne. And straight after that, he'll stay in the ring and defend his tag championships. That's a big ask.

FM: And here comes a big arse..

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/rickstantz.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/bigdaddyhorne.jpg

Rick Stantz vs. Big Daddy Horne

APW Australian Championship

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1sYomH-gkA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZbTpANdI54?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

THE ACTION: Horne was given this match as thanks for his service, but we all knew how it would go. What we didn't know was how good Baz would look, keeping Rick off balance and stopping Stantz from ending it all quickly. Horne took him right to the wire - but when you're that huge it's hard to stay fresh, and Rick was simply fitter. Big flying elbow after 11 minutes ends this contest and Rick makes the first defence of his title.

Rating: 42 / D

MB: Rick has a matter of seconds to get his breath back. It's time for the tag team championship match!

The Melbourne Blondes with Steph Drucker vs. The Masters with Sean Quartermainne vs. The East Coast Rebels

APW Tag Team Title Match

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1sYomH-gkA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z-hEyVQDRA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPnel7P8jek?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

THE ACTION: Rick looked exhausted from the off, and that didn't bode well. Blake did all he could but found himself ganged up on by the heel teams. Sean Quartermainne kept distracting the referee, and it was quickly descending into chaos. Rick finally got in from a hot tag and cleaned house, but found himself eating a Carcano Kick from Macquarie, who was in turn then hit with a Hangman's Neckbreaker from David Peterson. Peterson covered Macquarie to get one fall for the Masters, and then tagged in Lanny who put on a figure four leglock on Macquarie for the second fall. Blake Belushi managed to get in, and felled Cole Taylor with an Axe Kick to make it two one - but then also ended up having his head kicked off by Macquarie. Another pin followed - and then the hooter went. The final scores? The Masters 2 - The Blondes 1 - The East Coast Rebels 1 - we have new tag team champions!

Rating: 44 / D

FM: Yes! You idiot Blondes held them down for so long - and now The Masters will dominate the tag team division for eternity! What a result!

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

After the match, and having lost their titles, The Blondes and Steph meet face to face in the ring.

MB: Oh hang on, what’s this? They’re not going to get mad at each other for losing?

FM: It’s the end of The Blondes, Mitch! Hey hey hey – goodbye!

Rick lunges forwards at Blake! But it’s a feint! The two grin, and hug – and despite the obvious disappointment, The Blondes look like they’ll be around to fight another day.

Rating: 28 / E

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: A bit of a relief. I wouldn't want to see those two go down in flames. But how much will we see them together in future?

FM: Who cares? The Masters are on top now, and will stay there.

MB: Well, it's main event time now Frank. Killdozer will defend his title against Harry Simonson - and I'm told that Harry has expressely told the Alliance to keep out of this match. Is there tension in the group, or does he just want to show what he can do?

FM: What he can do is get put through a table.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/killdozer.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/harrysimonson.jpg

Killdozer vs. Harry Simonson

APW Commonwealth Title Match

MB: So, now we get to find out whether Swoop's words have rattled Mackenzie.

FM: I doubt Dozer even paid attention. Think about it - Swoop can blow hot and cold all he likes, but he's getting nowhere. Guess how many words Killdozer has spoken this year, Mitch.

MB: Very few, but it's not how many, it-

FM: He's said zero. Nothing. Nothing all year. He's the epitome of actions speaking louder than words. Just watch this match.

THE ACTION: Harry looks good in the match, but does seem to just be treading water. Mackenzie acts like a dumper truck the entire time, and spends much of it working the ribs of Simonson. Harry is a bit outmatched, especially when Killdozer is so aggravated, and doesn't quite achieve what he set out to tonight. After about seventeen minutes he walks right into a 300lb Spear, and Killdozer retains his title. However, Killdozer goes to tip Harry over the ropes, presumably to put him through a table, and The Alliance appear in the crowd. They grab Harry and run off with him, to prevent any further damage.

Rating: 49 / D+

MB: The Alliance stay alive - but for how much longer? They need Swoop McCarthy on board, or they're massively impotent... this is Mitch Bryson and Frank Mucciolio signing off from APW's Championship Carnival - see you next month!

Final Event Rating: 46 / D

"What history do the Blondes have together?"

Richard Dean Stantz and Blake Michael Belushi are a constant mainstay on the Australian scene, and are rapidly becoming some of the most recognisable faces in the country. Their partnership has spanned their entire career and brought them titles - and last week it took the biggest knock it's ever had. But where has this friendship come from?

Both men attended the same high school, Melbourne High School, in South Yarra, Melbourne. They were not immediately friends, with Blake being in the school year above, but found a kinship when both were internally suspended for breaking the very strict rules of the school. Their crime? Being caught with girls in a private area.. both on the same day. This reputation with the ladies continued until Blake met Stephanie Drucker some years later.

The two grew up on SWF and the territories, and built their traditional style from these experiences. They recieved their big break in Southern Hemisphere Wrestling, and spent a very happy four years there after they debuted aged 18. In February 2007, Australian Pro Wrestling came calling, along with the promise of the world's most competitive tag team division. Following on from the Belvedere Incident of '06, where Rick botched a spike piledriver and temporarily paralysed technical worker Jansen Belvedere, the Blondes felt it was too good an offer to turn down.

It was at APW that Belushi met Steph Drucker, who he attributes as the major calming influence in his life. The two begun a strong relationship, and for a while it looked like things could go wrong with Rick as the "third wheel". However, Stantz has always played up his heartbreaker reputation, and the expected rupture never came.

The Blondes first won the APW tag team titles almost immediately, and held them for just under a year. They won them again for their second reign in the summer of 2009. Stantz won his first solo gold in 2010, taking the Australian title off Stan Standish. Co-incidentally - or not, depending on how you look at it - the Blondes quickly lost the tag team titles afterwards. The two faced off in the ring - but this was clearly just a big joke to rile up the fans, and the two seem a strong pair still.

So, what next for the Blondes? It's hypothesised that Stantz will make a run for the APW Commonwealth title as he is rocketing up in status within Australian Pro Wrestling - but where does that leave Blake?

~ Lucien Wilder, September 2010.

Card for APW's Super Saturday.

Boo Smithson vs. Lanny Williams - Two old foes go at it for the third time but with Boo having a resurgence can he knock off one half of the new tag team champions?

Vance Sturt vs. Alexander Banks - Banks is the unheralded partner of Stan Standish. Sturt provides the same backup to Dingo Devine. In the battle of the backups, who will get a chance?

Stan Standish vs. Dingo Devine - Two proud men who have not had a good time as of late - especially poor old Stan Standish. Someone will begin a winning run here.

The Melbourne Blondes vs. The East Coast Rebels - Both teams have been involved in the tag title picture, and will be keen to cement themselves as top of the pile now that we have new champs. Will The Blondes have any momentum at all from last month, or can they overcome Macquarie and his wily partner.

Killdozer and Debonair David Peterson vs. Swoop McCarthy and Harry Simonson - Killdozer perhaps does not need to be teamed with someone, but Sean Quartermainne made this match to make sure David is involved. McCarthy and Simonson both have a point to prove with Dozer - but will they have enough strength together to overcome the one man wrecking ball?

Im voting for anyone whos ever worked for me in HIW. Harry it is!

The Melbourne Blondes vs. The East Coast Rebels

Likewise. The Blondes have been great for me

Stan Standish vs. Dingo Devine

just preference

Vance Sturt vs. Alexander Banks

I tried him but he didnt do anything. I like the character though

Boo Smithson vs. Lanny Williams

Boo is brilliant

Killdozer & Debonair David Peterson vs. Swoop McCarthy and Harry Simonson

Could go either way but I go with faces getting a win here by pinning DDP.

The Melbourne Blondes vs. The East Coast Rebels

Champs are heels so Blondes winning just make more sense unless you want to play with that Stantz is distracted angle.

Stan Standish vs. Dingo Devine

I have slighly more faith on Standish than Devine at this point.

Vance Sturt vs. Alexander Banks

Sturt lost to Horne not so long ago and that´s not the way to make me believe that he would win any matches soon.

Boo Smithson vs. Lanny Williams

Williams is champ now and I usually like to keep champs strong so I go with him.

Pin on Peterson lets Killdozer "lose" without losing.

The Melbourne Blondes vs. The East Coast Rebels

I choose to believe the team doesn't break up.

Stan Standish vs. Dingo Devine

Stan is a somewhat higher class of worker. He takes one back after losing his title.

Vance Sturt vs. Alexander Banks

Banks at least has youth on his side.

Boo Smithson vs. Lanny Williams

I assume the point is that Ceri inspires him to break through and reach his potential? A singles win over a tag team guy would be a great way to drive that point home without hurting anyone.

Killdozer & Debonair David Peterson vs. Swoop McCarthy and Harry Simonson

I'm going with the heels here actually. Because Killdozer is a beast, and I kinda sensing some animosity between The Alliance and Swoop.

The Melbourne Blondes vs. The East Coast Rebels

I wouldn't recommend breaking up the Blondes unless you plan on moving one of them up the card pretty quickly. Much more useful as a tag than 2 midcard singles acts.

Stan Standish vs. Dingo Devine

This'll probably come back and bite me, but I'm a big Standish fan. Sadly, in my APW game, he has poor chemestry with Swoop. :(

Vance Sturt vs. Alexander Banks

Vance Sturt lost to Big Hornee.

Boo Smithson vs. Lanny Williams

I'm kinda sensing a Boo push. Good luck.

-Kind of just going against the crowd here.

The Melbourne Blondes vs. The East Coast Rebels

-I've think you've shown Stantz can be strong on his own so maybe a weird finish so the Rebs can get more experience together.

Stan Standish vs. Dingo Devine

Vance Sturt vs. Alexander Banks

Boo Smithson vs. Lanny Williams

-Maybe DQ.

Mitch Y. Bryson: It's Saturday - and it's the best day of the month if you're an APW fan - welcome to APW's Super Saturday!

Frank Mucciolio: This is Frank Mucciolio and Mitch Bryson, and we're ready for what should be an explosive night.

MB: With Swoop McCarthy setting out his stall for the Early Christmas Bash, he's given Dozer notice. In two months time, the two will meet for the APW Commonwealth title - and it's going to be brutal.

Boo Smithson with Ceri Dordevich vs. Lanny Williams with Sean Quartermainne

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nI8R8fIPH28?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z-hEyVQDRA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

MB: Well, we've seen this match before, Frank.

FM: And how many chances is Boo going to get against Lanny? Come on.

MB: Quartermainne wouldn't have made the match if he wasn't confident about it - just watch that snake get involved.

THE ACTION: The best match so far in APW history - this was awesome. The two tied each other in knots and the crowd lapped it up. A superb opener and really should have been the main event. Smithson had the match all but won, when we saw Quartermainne try to get involved when the match spilled ringside. However, for the second month in a row, Dordevich was there, and planted her boot right in his groin! With Quartermainne down, Williams found himself outmatched technically, and submitted! A huge win!

Rating: 65 / C

MB: What an amazing match! And did you see how hard Ceri kicked Quartermainne?!

FM: Yeah, kicking your boss in the balls is a fabulous idea. Nice one, you dumb broad.

A video hyping Debonair David Peterson, Swoop McCarthy and Killdozer.

A video is shown highlighting tonight's main event tag team match. One of the main highlights in the video is from McCarthy's first ever APW match, where he faced down and beat Peterson one on one. Swoop was viciously beaten with a chair afterwards, but it shows how strongly his career started. The footage of Dozer is standard - table after table after table.

Rating: 49 / D+

MB: We've got a fight up next - and we've been told that Vance Sturt is competing in this match to earn a contract renewal. If he loses, he's released.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vancesturt.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/alexanderbanks.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/maxforbes.jpg

Vance Sturt vs. Alexander Banks with Max Forbes

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OgH3B49_E4?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJmr5CKY73M?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

THE ACTION: Vance has been useful, but his contract is up and there's no point keeping him. Alexander Banks uses his strong kickboxing pedigree and basically blows Vance up and out of the promotion with a dominant win. Forbes made sure to raise his hand after the match, to show that it was his client giving the beating.

Rating: 36 / D-

The video feeds to a pre-recorded section, and for some reason we’re in a steamy shower room. During the video, we get glimpses of exceptionally muscled and toned arms and upper body, but never a face. A glimpse of shoulder length blonde hair is noticeable, but that’s it. The voice is familiar for any fan of Australian wrestling, but can it really be?

??: When they asked me to come to Australian Pro Wrestling, I had to think about it pretty hard. That’s what I do, folks – pretty. Hard. It takes hours to sculpt a body this good; but I do it for you. I do it for all of my little ladies out there – and I’ve heard there are a couple in APW who are worth an exceptionally... hard.. look.

The figure turns its back and we zoom out a bit. There’s a towel blocking the rear end, but again you get the impression of overall perfection.

??: So, it’s time for a new age and a new era. I come in peace and friendship, but I’m coming, APW – and it’s time to start a whole new age of “Lex Appeal”. You’ll love it.

The camera lifts up to the upper back and shoulders, and the figure turns. A towel flies over and covers the lens, and we go back to reality.

Rating: 46 / D

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

FM: Well, that was a little creepy.

MB: It looks like APW have already made moves to replace the departing Vance Sturt - who will it be? Find out next month, at APW's Longest Night!

Stan Standish with Max Forbes vs. Dingo Devine

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DyUkEmAruA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18C8Wr1eUdE?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

MB: Stan is on a two match losing slide, and his agent Forbes organised this bout for him, believing it favourable to Standish.

THE ACTION: A pretty simple and short match, where the two were clearly evenly matched. However, badly timed interference from Forbes, desperate to get his client a win, meant that Standish took a punch from him instead - and then Devine scooped him up for a fisherman's suplex. Dingo Devine wins - Stan goes 0-3 in his last couple of matches.

Rating: 49 / D+

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: We've got some tag action up next - The Blondes lost their titles but have retained the sense of unity. Will that be enough to carry them over The East Coast Rebels?

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/rickstantz.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/blakebelushi.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/stephdrucker.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/coletaylor.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/alyxmacquarie.jpg

The Melbourne Blondes with Steph Drucker vs. The East Coast Rebels

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1sYomH-gkA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPnel7P8jek?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

THE ACTION: A fairly solid match - The Blondes are still working together and clicking, but The Rebels aren't far from breaking out. Macquarie kept teasing the superkick in an effort to draw out Harry Simonson, who is part of The Alliance with The Blondes, but the bait didn't work. Alyx's inexperience cost him - again teasing the non-existent Simonson, and he found himself rolled up out of nowhere by Rick Stantz for the win.

Rating: 41 / D-

FM: His shoulders weren't down! That's not a legal pin!

MB: It looked fine from here, Frank - and Alyx needs to realise that his taunting simply isn't going to rattle anyone.

We're backstage, and following David Peterson and Sean Quartermainne to the ring. They're discussing game tactics, and Peterson sounds unhappy with the fact he's with Dozer. However, guess who they bump into.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/killdozer.jpg

Debonair David Peterson: Alright, Dozer, we want no trouble tonight. I'm one of the new tag team champions, and I'm not having you end my career with any of your stupid crap.

Dozer tilts his head, the way a big dog would listen to a smaller, yapping thing.

DDP: So, give me your word on it. There'll be no "turning on your partner" crap. We go out there, we win, we leave happy. Just say the word, and we can get on with it. I'm not bringing Sean out tonight, cos we don't need any help. But I need to know that you've got nothing bad planned in that big stupid head of yours.

Dozer is immobile, and silent.

DDP: Now you listen to me, you jumped up thunder monkey-

Sean Quartermainne: David..

DDP: I ain't afraid of you, big man. You just keep yourself to yourself tonight, and you'll get out of here alive.

DDP and Sean stalk off, leaving Dozer standing there - stoic as ever - almost as if nothing David said entered his head.

Rating: 47 / D

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: Dozer is just in another world.

FM: An intense, pain fuelled world. There's a reason he's APW Commonwealth champion.

MB: And some racist idiot like Peterson isn't going to distract him from tonight's goal - decapitate Swoop McCarthy.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/killdozer.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/debonairdavidpeterson.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/swoopmccarthy.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/harrysimonson.jpg

Killdozer and Debonair David Peterson vs. Swoop McCarthy and Harry Simonson

MB: Get ready for a ring shaker.

FM: Oh god, was that you in the shower earlier?!

THE ACTION: A decent main event, but a bit too short and hobbled because of it. Peterson and Dozer work surprisingly well, but Simonson and McCarthy do a great job of keeping Mackenzie out of the match. Even when Dozer gets in, Swoop and Harry keep him on the ground and off balance, and leave Peterson screaming for a tag. When the tag finally comes, Peterson clears house and then takes a moment to spit on the downed Killdozer. A huge mistake. Dozer kips up, enraged, and 300lb Spears his partner! Leaving the ring, Simonson covers Peterson, and the three is counted.

Rating: 58 / C-

MB: A huge amount of rage - and it could all have been avoided if Peterson hadn't been such a tremendous dick earlier. Dozer technically loses, but leaves with his head held high - and with a reminder of just how deadly he can be. We'll see you next month for APW's Longest Night!

Final Event Rating: 54 / C-

Being a complete idiot I've missed predictions twice in a row, sorry, I have read the shows and they've been really good, just about to read this one now. :)

It's absolutely no problem, thank you for reading (and commenting! No-one ever comments after a show, so I always wonder if it was crap).

This is the best group of predictors and supporters I've ever had in a diary on this board. Thank you.

I miss predictions frequently for all sorts of dynasties as I tend to bounce around and read some in 2-3 show chunks, esepcially if they're quite a brisk read, like yours Rathen.

I'm still enjoying this one, especially the combo of Ceri Dordevich and Boo for some reason - gotta love a bum with a number one fan.

And nice touch with the last main event including the nice set-up with DDP's ultimatum. Dozer still looked a complete wrecking machine, despite a loss that he basically inflicted on his 'team' due to his badass-ery (I doubt that's a word).

"What kind of career has Boo Smithson had?"

Cliff Booker Smithson has never been known by his first name. It is suggested that on his first day in kindergarten, in Launceston Tasmania, he became so angered at being called Cliff, he kicked over four tables and hurled a chair. Since then, he was referred to as Booker - or, as we know him nowadays, Boo. He is currently having a resurgence in the APW, but Boo's career has had many lows, and only a few highs to equal it out.

Boo was never interested in wrestling as a child, preferring Aussie Rules football. However, he was unable to communicate effectively on the pitch due to his massive stutter, and despite extensive support work during his childhood and adolescence, the problem has only got worse. This lack of speech with others led him to become a social recluse, and he enrolled at the University of Tasmania where he planned to major in chemistry. However, through a terrible mixup with the chemicals ordered for an experiment, Boo caused a great deal of pain and damage to his professor, and was summarily expelled.

Boo turned to drink temporarily, and alienated many of those around him including his own family. It was only when he was seen removing a fellow drunk from a bar with an expertly held choke hold that people realised there was something useful in his brain. Local promotion Southern Hemisphere Wrestling was gathering a reputation for hiring down and outs, and he fell into employment there as a ring assembler. In his own personal fairy tale, Boo managed to move his way up the ranks, and found himself hired to work in ring. All of a sudden his barriers and previous hindrances fell apart. SHW's product focused on hardcore wrestling with no angles or nonsense, and although Boo was terrible with weapons, he rarely gave his opponents a chance to use them. He was never champion, but was hugely respected.

James J McMinister came calling when APW opened, and with a heavy heart Boo moved there when APW bought SHW. He immediately was tasked with working with and training the up and coming Swoop McCarthy and others, and was rewarded with an Australian title reign in 2009. However, he made an enemy in Stan Standish and "Superagent" Max Forbes, and this is where Boo's second spiral began. Standish began a targeted campaign against Boo, exposing his past, including a shocking event where a facially disfigured man was paraded around by Stan, who proclaimed him to be the professor harmed by Smithson. Despite this unplanned skit getting Stan in a fair amount of trouble, the promotion ran with it and Stan piled on the misery for Boo. Some felt it became rather too personal, and Boo became more and more unhappy. The final nail in Boo's Australian reign came in a match with Stan, who announced afterwards that Boo hadn't been paying his rent, and couldn't afford it. As he had just beaten Boo, and stopped him from getting a raise for a win, Boo was therefore homeless as of that night.

Smithson grew out his hair and as far as we know became homeless at that point. Travel is paid for for him by the APW, but it has taken the discovery of him by Ceri Dordevich to give him a chance. Ceri, a fan of Boo since those first days in SHW, has already stuck up for the hobo - but how far can she take him?

Card for APW's Longest Night.

Rick Stantz vs. Alexander Banks - Banks picked up his first win in a while last month - can he continue against the APW Australian champion?

Harry Simonson and Boo Smithson vs. The East Coast Rebels - The Rebels have declared all out war on The Alliance - this could be a huge win for them if they can pull it off.

Blake Belushi and ?? vs. The Masters - In an effort to keep the Blondes weak, Sean Quartermainne has insisted that Rick not be allowed to compete in this match tonight. Putting Blake in a tag match means he has to find a partner - who will it be?

Swoop McCarthy vs. Stan Standish - McCarthy is on a major hot streak, winning his last four matches on the trot. Standish is on the bad end of a losing streak - can McCarthy take this, go 5-0, and go to his championship match at Early Christmas Bash on a wave of momentum?

Killdozer vs. The Alliance (Gauntlet match) - Four men will go against Dozer, one by one. Can The Alliance triumph, despite Quartermainne clearly trying to exhaust them?
