Rick Stantz vs. Alexander Banks

He's the Australian champ, and Banks isn't.

Harry Simonson & Boo Smithson vs. The East Coast Rebels

The Alliance continues to look good.

Blake Belushi & ?? vs. The Masters (3 points if you can guess who ?? - we have never seen them wrestle before in the APW)

I'd say Quartermaine has his men very well protected. As for the tag partner, since this, as far as I can recall is your first debut in this dynasty (and props for that, takes some guts not to overhaul everything in a company) it makes it a little harder to guess your direction, whether he be an independant wrestler or a guy from RAW, DIW, or even ZEN. That said, I'm going with one of my favorite indies, Louie Scorpio.

Swoop McCarthy vs. Stan Standish

Swoop stays strong.

Killdozer vs. The Alliance (Gauntlet match)

Killdozer stays unstoppable.

Rick Stantz vs. Alexander Banks

Banks haven´t really done all that much so far so hard to see him going over Rick here

Harry Simonson & Boo Smithson vs. The East Coast Rebels

Bigger names

Blake Belushi & ?? vs. The Masters (3 points if you can guess who ?? - we have never seen them wrestle before in the APW)

I go with Masters. As for the mystery guy I have no idea but lets say Fuzzy Freeman

Swoop McCarthy vs. Stan Standish

Standish continues his losing streak

Killdozer vs. The Alliance (Gauntlet match)

I go against majority here, simply because Alliance includes four of your top five faces and Killdozer beating all of them in same night seems little bit too much for me. I´d say that Dozer beats first three guys and then gets himself DQ in fourth match.

APW’s Longest

Saturday Week 3 November 2010

Eastern Australia

1000 in attendance - sold out!

<object width="27" height="25">

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFxFibVHy-w?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

Mitch Y. Bryson: The whole world is watching - and it's time for APW's Longest Night! And for some of our stars, it really is going to feel like a long night. I'm Mitch Bryson and with me is my colleague and unbiased commentator, Frank Mucciolio.

Frank Mucciolio: It's going to be a very long night for those dumb Blondes - tag matches, singles matches and then a gauntlet match against the behemoth that is Killdozer.

MB: And we're getting word that Rick Stantz, who will be pivotal to tonight's event, has just arrived - and Lucien Wilder is trying to catch him backstage for a chat.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/rickstantz.jpg

Rick Stantz is walking backstage, and you can see Lucien Wilder just off in the distance, running to catch up. However, the camera blurs and thuds, and there's a sharp cry of pain.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/killdozer.jpg

MB: Oh bloody hell...

FM: Get him, biggun!

Mackenzie flies out of nowhere into Rick, knocking him down. In mount position, Dozer rains down punches onto Stantz, but all of a sudden a third party gets involved. You can't quite see who it is, but they're blonde, and look very similar to the person promising us "Lex Appeal" last week. Dozer is stunned, and retreats - and Rick's rescuer disappears as quickly as he appeared.

MB: What the hell just happened?

Rating: 46 / D

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: Well, Rick took a few punches there, but it looks like the assistance was just in time to stop him getting absolutely murdered.

FM: Disappointing from Killdozer, why back off like that? Still, we'll see if he took enough out of Rick to stop him in his match - which is up next.

Rick Stantz vs. Alexander Banks with Max Forbes

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1sYomH-gkA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJmr5CKY73M?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

MB: So, Rick is down alone - is this to distance himself from the Blondes moniker, or just him being keen to set out his stall in singles competition.

FM: Well, he's outnumbered now. And Forbes knows what he's doing at ringside.

THE ACTION: A surprisingly good match, Rick has stepped it all up a notch recently, and led Alex a merry dance around the ring. The match spilled to ringside at one point, and Rick found himself face to face with Max Forbes, who obviously wanted to get involved. Rick obliged, hitting Max with a swinging neckbreaker, and then took Banks into the ring. Finishing the match with a big flying elbow to the solar plexus, Rick hooks the leg. A solid win.

Rating: 47 / D

MB: Rick deals with the management, and then finishes the match. A true superstar in the making there, Frank.

FM: Max was an innocent bystander. You can't just assault random passersby.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: An interesting match next - the East Coast Rebels taking on Harry Simonson and Boo Smithson. Do the Rebels even stand a chance, Frank?

FM: The Rebels go into this the clear favourites. They're an experienced team, and arguably the better wrestlers in the match.

MB: What planet are you on?

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/harrysimonson.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/boosmithson.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/ceridordevich.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/alyxmacquarie.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/coletaylor.jpg

Harry Simonson and Boo Smithson with Ceri Dordevich vs. The East Coast Rebels

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btjVnTLn6og?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPnel7P8jek?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

THE ACTION: Another pretty solid contest, Boo enjoying his revitalisation and Ceri neutralising any unseen dodgy tactics. Without being able to cheat, Macquarie and Taylor were simply outmatched - and although Alyx went close, hitting Simonson with a Carcano Kick, Smithson managed to take Taylor down and submit him.

We are backstage, where a very winded and tired looking Rick Stantz is being tended to by Blake Belushi and Steph Drucker.

Blake Belushi: I'm getting tired of this crap.. me having to find a partner, you getting all these matches - and then The Alliance getting picked on again. This is crap, Rick.

Rick Stantz: I know, I know.

BB: So we need to do something about it. Quartermainne took our titles, and now is trying to destroy us.

RS: (With a slight grin) Your title. He took yours. I've still got mine.

Blake cuffs him over the shoulder, playfully, but Rick winces.

RS: Look, who have you picked tonight?

BB: That's the thing. I've found no-one. No-one wants to go against Quartermainne. I know Steph is a co-GM, but Sean holds so much more power. Looks like it's me against the-

??: Hey, guys!

The three look up, sharply. They're all shocked, and they blurt out their next words together.

RS: No way-

BB: You're-

SD: Holy crap-

The camera swings round, to reveal..

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/lexleyrobbins.jpg

Lexley Robbins

BB: Holy hell. Loxley, what are you doing here?

Lexley Robbins: Loxley? Now I'm here, I can go back to being good old Lexley Robbins, as my mum intended. I've been listening to your plight. I ain't got nothing to fear from Quartermainne. So, how's about Blake Belushi and Lex Appeal here take on The Masters?

Blake is thrilled, and jumps to his feet.

BB: Welcome to the APW, mate!

Rating: 36 / D-

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: What a steal! Loxley, or should we say Lexley - has joined the APW!

FM: This is the very definition of a ringer. How blatantly unfair.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/blakebelushi.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/loxleyrobbins.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/stephdrucker.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/lannywilliams.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/debonairdavidpeterson.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/seanquartermainne.jpg

Blake Belushi and Lexley Robbins with Steph Drucker vs. The Masters with Sean Quartermainne

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1sYomH-gkA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z-hEyVQDRA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

THE ACTION: A pretty secure debut for the renamed Lexley, and The Masters were clearly furious that Belushi foiled their plan. This rather put them off, and they were on the back foot throughout. Robbins ran the show, looking great as he did, and despite a spirited comeback from Lanny Williams, Robbins managed to scoop him up and Butterfly Powerbomb him for the pin. A win on his debut!

Rating: 50 / D+

FM: Scrub it off, it doesn't count.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

Quartermainne scrambles for a microphone, stopping the celebrating new tag team half way up the ramp.

Sean Quartermainne: Drucker! Drucker, you little tramp! You don't have the power to hire people - you cannot bring in extra workers like this!

Steph pouts, hands on hips, and walks back down to the ring with her team. She calls for a microphone.

Steph Drucker: Sean, this hire was nothing to do with me. But if you're so furious about it, I can think of nothing funnier than to increase your fury. So, how about this. Next month, at the Early Christmas Bash - your boys will defend their tag titles against my boys. Lexley Robbins and Blake Belushi versus your high and mighty masters.

SQ: This is an abuse of your power! You cannot do this!

SD: Sean, baby, I can - and I just did. See you next month.

Rating: 56 / C- (Yeah, I know - what?!)

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: A huge announcement! The Masters will be forced to defend their ill-gotten titles next month!

FM: How on earth were they "ill gotten", you cretin?

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/swoopmccarthy.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/stanstandish.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/maxforbes.jpg

Swoop McCarthy vs. Stan Standish with Max Forbes

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS0hAokxDSA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DyUkEmAruA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

MB: Ignoring Frank's abuse, this is an intriguing matchup. Standish is 0-3 in his last matches - and it looks awfully like he'll go 0-4 tonight. How can Forbes stop this?

THE ACTION: Swoop dominates for the early portion of the match, but Standish isn't as bad as his record would indicate. He manages to go toe to toe with the #1 contender, and has McCarthy on the back foot with an astonishing barrage of kicks he's obviously learned from sparring partner Alex Banks. However, after about eighteen minutes..

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDJh6Ofkduw?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

MB: Like clockwork..

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/killdozer.jpg

Dozer sprints down to the ring, immediately punching Swoop and causing the match to be thrown out. 0-4, Standish - but very unfair for the youngster. However, Dozer sets McCarthy up for the 300lb Spear - but McCarthy moves aside like a matador, and Dozer goes through Standish instead. McCarthy backs off up the ramp, laughing - obviously saving himself for next month's title match instead.

Rating: 52 / D+

FM: Stan! Poor Stan - wrong place at the wrong time.

MB: But look at that monster up there, Frank. Absolutely terrifying. Like some form of angry gorilla, and now The Alliance have to take him on.

Killdozer vs. Rick Stantz, Boo Smithson, Blake Belushi and Harry Simonson

Gauntlet Match

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDJh6Ofkduw?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nI8R8fIPH28?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

MB: And look which poor sod is up first..

THE ACTION: Rick is in first, and stares down Killdozer, who just fixes him with some form of animal grin. Rick doesn't last long, 300lb Speared almost immediately, and is eliminated. The attack earlier, then his match, just took too much out of him. Boo Smithson slides in next, and manages to lock in an astonishing flying guillotine on Dozer! However, Mackenzie manages to just shake the lock - and powerbombs the fighting hobo right onto his skull. Smithson is dazed, badly, and from there it's just a formality. Dozer looks a little tired, but Belushi enters next with quite some reluctance. To his credit, Blake keeps Dozer away from any form of Spear setup and tries to chop him down with leg kicks, but he didn't expect a massive flying lariat that flipped him one and a half times in the air. Limping badly, and sweating heavily, Dozer eliminates Blake - and now it's time for Harry Simonson.

Harry immediately goes for the Headshot, and it connects! However, Dozer stumbles backwards and out of the ring, and this gives him valuable time to recover. Also, it's rumoured that Dozer has a skull made out of concrete, so make of that what you will. The two lock up - but Harry is thrown around an awful lot. In the end, it's just what you expected - Dozer using his sheer size and power to outmuscle a slightly weaker opponent. A 300lb Spear later - and Dozer takes the gauntlet match - but with quite some difficulty.

Rating: 52 / D+

MB: Killdozer just defeated four men fairly - but at what price? He looks battered and beaten; but..

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

Dozer goes outside and under the ring, after a table. As he's setting it up, he's blindsided and beaten to the floor by The Alliance, who are slowly recovering from the match. They set up the table, and appear to be working out how to get him onto it, when;

MB: Here comes Swoop McCarthy!

McCarthy rushes down to the ring, and grabs a microphone.

Swoop McCarthy: Stop! Stop it, you Alliance idiots! Stop!

Dumbfounded, The Alliance do as they're told.

SM: I am NOT going to have my win next month tainted by you self important idiots injuring Dozer. Just because you didn't have what it takes tonight to put him down, doesn't mean I don't.

The Alliance are frozen in shock.

SM: Get the hell out of here, and if I see you appear at my match next month, you'll wish you hadn't.

They do leave, but if looks could kill..

SM: Dozer.. I've saved you tonight. But if you think for one minute you're getting a shred of mercy in December.. you can forget it. I am Swoop McCarthy.. and I'm going to be the next Commonwealth champion.

Alright, so I'm completely out of ideas for "Out in the Wilderness".

Have you guys liked the character histories, or would you prefer a question answered?

If you want a character history, please suggest one who has featured in the diary, or if you want a question give me an idea for something that might interest you!

Thanks!

"What significance has the Early Christmas Bash got?"

Absolutely none. Considering the build up to it, taking a few months, you'd think it would be considered one of the premier events. In fact, if we were to take the twelve annual events in the APW and rank them in order of perceived importance, you'd probably get an order like this.

#1: Ozfest

#2: Caged Showdown

#3: Championship Carnival

#4: Shot at the Top

#5: Super Saturday

#6: Big Night Out

#7: Early Christmas Bash

#8: Longest Night

#9: Finest Hour

#10: Fight Night

#11: Beachfront Breakdown

#12: Beer Bash.

And if we rate them by the most successful shows of 2010, you get this:

#1: Beachfront Breakdown

#2: Super Saturday

#3: Caged Showdown

#4: Beer Bash

#5: Longest Night

#6: Ozfest

#7: Finest Hour

#8: Fight Night

#9: Championship Carnival

#10: Big Night Out

#11: Shot at the Top

Not rated: Early Christmas Bash.

So, where in the chart will the Bash enter? Join me next month for a review of the year!

~ Lucien Wilder, November 2010.

~ The Masters vs. Lexley Robbins and Blake Belushi (APW Tag Team Title Match) - Lexley debuted in style from RAW last month, and has found himself immediately embroiled in the ongoing problems between The Blondes and The Masters. Who will come out on top here?

~ Stan Standish vs. ??? - Max Forbes has taken business into his own hands, and has made Stan a match with a local newcomer. Can Stan arrest his losing streak?

~ Boo Smithson with Harry Simonson vs. Alyx Macquarie with Cole Taylor - The Rebels got taken down and schooled last week - will having Harry Simonson out of the picture make their lives any easier?

~ Alexander Banks vs. Dingo Devine - The Dingo will win this if he can get close enough to Banks to suplex him - but can he get inside that guard effectively?

~ Killdozer vs. Swoop McCarthy (APW Commonwealth title match) - McCarthy prevented The Alliance from taking Dozer down a peg or two last month - will he regret this decision as he seeks revenge for his injury??

The Masters vs. Lexley Robbins and Blake Belushi (APW Tag Team titles match)

The Belts are still fairly new to the Masters, and I can't see them dropping them to a new and inexperienced team like Blake and Loxley, I mean Lexley.

Stan Standish vs. ???

Honestly, you wouldn't hype it if you planned on him breaking it. He'll look strong, but lose a quick roll-up fall.

Boo Smithson with Harry Simonson vs. Alyx Macquarie with Cole Taylor

Boo has Simonson AND Ceri Dordevich. That gives him both a numbers advantage, and momentum.

Alexander Banks vs. Dingo Devine

I have a hunch this Standish losing streak will lead to a face turn, a losing streak for one member of a team is amplified by a winning streak for the other. Not necessarily sound reasoning, but I can't think of any other reason to go one way or another.

Killdozer vs. Swoop McCarthy (APW Commonwealth title)

I've gotta say, its been a great build up to this match. Its a tough pick, since the babyface usually prevails, but Killdozer is your baby, really. I could see it going either way, but I've gotta pick Swoop.

Always vote for Aussie Stans. I was a fan of Lazaridis back in the day

Boo Smithson with Harry Simonson vs. Alyx Macquarie with Cole Taylor

I just love Boo

Alexander Banks vs. Dingo Devine

Gets inside!

Killdozer vs. Swoop McCarthy (APW Commonwealth title)

I knw Swoop is Swoop but I just think 'Dozer has had the better push. Cant see hom going down here and losing all that mystique

The Masters vs. Lexley Robbins and Blake Belushi (APW Tag Team titles match)

Too early for a title change

Stan Standish vs. ???

Standish´s losing streak seems to be a story so I assume that some new guy gets debut win here and that this match might start a feud between Standish and the new guy.

Boo Smithson with Harry Simonson vs. Alyx Macquarie with Cole Taylor

Boo is more important right now.

Alexander Banks vs. Dingo Devine

This one is a coin flip for me.

Killdozer vs. Swoop McCarthy (APW Commonwealth title)

Dozer got the title from Swoop and even though the storyline seems to go on the direction of Swoop getting the last win, I still doubt that he gets the title back, and surely not yet anyway.

APW’s Early Christmas Bash

Saturday Week 3 November 2010

Eastern Australia

1000 in attendance - sold out!

Mitch Y. Bryson: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Early Christmas Bash! We are live in front of 1000 people here, and in front of countless watchers live on our internet stream.

Frank Mucciolio: And tonight, we're all hoping for a very special christmas present; Swoop McCarthy being sent home in a body bag.

MB: That's our main event - Killdozer will defend his Commonwealth championship against Swoop McCarthy. But first up, we have a tag team battle - a rematch from lost month's Longest Night.

The Masters with Sean Quartermainne vs. Blake Belushi and Lexley Robbins with Steph Drucker

APW Tag Team Title Match

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z-hEyVQDRA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1sYomH-gkA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

THE ACTION: A good opener to the event, The Masters looked harried by the superior Robbins, and this lifted Blake to their level. When they could isolate Blake, the champions looked in control - but that was rare. Robbins had it all but won after sixteen minutes, but of course in run the East Coast Rebels, who we've not seen screw up a tag match for a while. Robbins drops to ringside, ready for his first ruck with them, and he smashes Alyx Macquarie with a Butterfly Powerbomb - but on getting back into the ring he walks straight into a Hangman's Neckbreaker, and Peterson picks up the win. Not smart from the new Blonde.

Rating: 52 / D+

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: A massively disappointing loss there, but if there's one thing that will remain constant it's Stan Standish getting beaten - and that's up next.

FM: Not so fast, Mitch. Stan's agent, Max Forbes, has been given a job of finding APW's Next Big Thing, and a contract has been offered to any local talent that can come in and beat Stan.

MB: This sounds awfully like an excuse to beat up on rookies..

THE ACTION: The streak coming into the match was 0-4, a pretty bad slide. Black Flash could be an exciting talent, but you wouldn't know it here. The gulf between him and Standish was huge, and Stan finally seemed to be enjoying himself in the ring. A Highbreed Knee Drop from the second rope finished the high flyer off after eight minutes - Standish breaks the streak!

Rating: 36 / D-

MB: A poor match - and a poor set of morals.

FM: A win is a win.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/swoopmccarthy.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/killdozer.jpg

A video is played highlighting tonight's main event. The history between the two is showcased, and Swoop narrates over the entire thing. As the camera focuses on his face, he promises pain, destruction and the end of Killdozer's career. In complete contrast, Dozer's chance to speak just leaves him standing there, staring into the camera, eyes glazed over. Intensity or stupidity? You decide.

MB: Dozer hasn't said a word all year, Frank. Probably longer than that. What is going on in that head of his?

Rating: 61 / C

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: Up next is a clash between Boo Smithson and Alyx Macquarie. Boo is part of The Alliance, who have had some nonsense going on between themselves and The Blondes - and we had it culminate in that attack earlier tonight. But Alyx ate a Butterfly Powerbomb from Lexley Robbins - will he be able to compete fairly in this match?

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/boosmithson.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/harrysimonson.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/alyxmacquarie.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/coletaylor.jpg

FM: Where's Ceri?

MB: I think The Alliance has decided that Simonson would be a better enforcer tonight.. and who can blame them?

THE ACTION: Alyx sold being hurt very well, clutching his neck and back at various points during the match. As a result, he couldn't match up with Smithson. Boo tied him in knots and submitted him after a fairly short match. The Rebels tried to jump them afterwards, but their hearts weren't in it and they retreated fairly quickly.

Rating: 48 / D+

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: Another win for Smithson! And look, he's dropping down ringside to support best friend Dingo Devine. Dingo's had a tough time of it recently, but will look to pick up an important win here.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/dingodevine.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/boosmithson.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/alexanderbanks.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/maxforbes.jpg

Dingo Devine with Boo Smithson vs. Alexander Banks with Max Forbes

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18C8Wr1eUdE?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJmr5CKY73M?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

THE ACTION: The closest we've come to a legit MMA fight in the APW, Dingo came out slugging and Alex came out kicking. However, Dingo couldn't get into suplex range against Banks, and was punished with repeated knees and kicks. This wore him down, and Banks finished him off with an elbow to the skull after eight minutes. After the match, Devine snapped, grabbed Smithson, and suplexed him into the floor at ringside!

Rating: 44 / D

FM: Haha! Get that bum, Dingo!

MB: I can't believe what I've just seen - Dingo Devine has lost it, and has potentially injured his best friend in the APW. What the hell is this?

Turn angle rating: 38 / D- (big momentum boost for Dingo!)

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/apwbanner.jpg

MB: Well, after stunning scenes there, it is time for the big one. This match has been months in the making, and McCarthy finally gets his shot at the title.

FM: He earned this match, sure - but this is not going to end well for him. Just watch.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/killdozer.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/vs.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/swoopmccarthy.jpg

Killdozer vs. Swoop McCarthy

APW Commonwealth Title Match

<object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDJh6Ofkduw?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/space.png <object width="27" height="25"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS0hAokxDSA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="27" height="25"></object>

THE ACTION: This match has built for months, and the crowd are incredibly hot for it. This only bodes well, although many have said this match should have happened next month at Ozfest. A lesson learned. The two went toe to toe - McCarthy is possibly the only man in the promotion who can go toe to toe with an enraged Dozer - but mental power also comes into it. McCarthy kept Dozer off balance for the majority of the match, taunting him to build up the rage, then avoiding retribution for it.

In a superb ending, McCarthy had Dozer on the ropes, and was waiting for him - signalling for the Swoop DDT. From behind the announcers, clubbing them both to the ground, a man swept out of the crowd and up onto the apron. Swoop turned and sent him off with a punch, but that gave Dozer the opening he needed. The 300lb Spear hit McCarthy right in the small of the back - and no matter who you are, that's going to put you down. Dozer hooks the leg and retains the title.

Rating: 64 / C

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/killdozer.jpghttp://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/swoopmccarthy.jpg

The announcers remain silent, both on the ground in states of injury after the attack by the unknown assailant. The segment isn't called - all you hear are the rapidly quieting voices of the crowd.

Dozer stands over McCarthy and puts the boot in a few times, but then the man who came in earlier stands up again, and slips into the ring.

http://rathen.animebots.co.uk/tew/apw/2010/roster/mauricemackenzie.jpg

Dozer raises a fist, ready to smash the newcomer despite his help, but stops. A vague sense of recognition, of realisation comes over his face. The eyes unglaze, briefly. He steps up close to the other figure. Dozer smiles. The other figure smiles. The crowd is almost completely silent, ready for whatever comes next.

APW's Early Christmas Bash 2010 – An APW Production

"2010: A Year in Review"

Well, that’s 2010 in the books. As we get ready for the traditional APW New Year’s party, it’s time to reveal who I think had a good year and who.. didn’t. We’ll also look at the top matches from the year, and then it’s time for the fans to vote for APW Wrestler of the Year!

--

A Good Year:

# Killdozer – he has destroyed, thrashed and torn apart everyone that has got in his way. The Commonwealth title is firmly within his frighteningly big hands, and he’s even got an alliance of people against him. He’ll be happy with that. Also, baby said his first word at the Early Christmas Bash.

# Boo Smithson – Boo had a terrible beginning of the year, but since bringing in Ceri Dordevich he’s had a massive resurgence. He may even find himself in the Australian title scene this year.

# Rick Stantz – Stantz had a solid run as tag team champion, then immediately won the Australian title. He’s been almost unofficially replaced in The Melbourne Blondes by Lexley Robbins, but this doesn’t seem to have affected him.

--

A Bad Year:

# Swoop McCarthy – Swoop lost the Commonwealth title, was hospitalised, won a title shot, and then got beaten down by the unknown brother of Killdozer. He ended the year flat on his back, out cold. He’s even picked a fight with The Alliance.

# Dingo Devine – We were all shocked when Dingo snapped and turned on best friend Boo Smithson last month. The guy has had various losses over the course of the year, and this has just compounded his misery.

# Stan Standish – When a worker has to have his manager bring in soft fights for him, you just know that someone isn’t having a good time of things.

# Sean Quartermainne – A controversial choice in this column, but I’m putting him down as a bad year as he is no longer the sole ruling power within the APW. Steph Drucker was appointed co-commissioner earlier in the year, and the two have had numerous spats over the year. I doubt it’s over yet.

--

The Top 5:

#1: Boo Smithson d. Lanny Williams at APW’s Super Saturday 2010. A huge match between the two, who really have a spark when they compete. This was a delicious win for Smithson, who had been hounded by The Masters for several months.

#2: Killdozer d. Swoop McCarthy at APW’s Early Christmas Bash 2010. Our two perennial championship contenders slugged it out here, and the match was eventually ended by Dozer’s previously secret brother, Maurice Mackenzie.

#3: Lanny Williams d. Boo Smithson at APW’s Caged Showdown 2010. The match that set them both off on a collision course.

#4: Boo Smithson drew with Lanny Williams at APW’s Beer Bash 2010. This match could have got Boo back into the running, or Lanny could have put him out of the way permanently. However, neither happened – but it was still a cracker.

#5: Killdozer d. Swoop McCarthy at APW’s Beachfront Breakdown 2010. The two were just beginning to spar, but this was the match that hospitalised Swoop McCarthy with whiplash. This resulted in a lengthy layoff for the former champion, and Dozer began to terrorise the roster with even more vigour now that he had the gold.

Event rankings:

Interestingly, as an update to last month, the Early Christmas Bash was our best ever APW event. How’s them apples?

Killdozer vs. Harry Simonson (APW Commonwealth title) - The management strategy seems to be to keep chipping away at Dozer with tough matches, putting him under increasing pressure. Whether he's smart enough to feel pressure, who knows, but Harry may need The Alliance here. What's happened to those guys?

Swoop McCarthy vs. Maurice Mackenzie - It's time for a little bit of revenge - Mackenzie debuted last month, then helped put down McCarthy.

Rick Stantz vs. Switchblade (APW Australian title) - Switchblade hasn't been heard of very much within the promotion recently, but that could all change with a title win.

The Alliance (Boo Smithson, Blake Belushi and Lexley Robbins) vs. Dingo Devine and The Masters - Oh, there they are! Dingo turned on best friend Boo last month and gets a chance to legitimately put the boot in. The Masters and The Blondes are far from friends, and will be pleased to have another fight.

Stan Standish vs. ??? - Standish is now having his matches organised by his manager, Max Forbes. Chances are this is a local talent.. but who?

Killdozer vs. Harry Simonson (APW Commonwealth title)

I can only see Simonson winning if you plan on turning Swoop to challenge him, and I really dont trust Simonson as the lead babyface of APW. Might just be me, but I dont buy it.

Swoop McCarthy vs. Maurice Mackenzie

Swoop will definitely get revenge. Maurice is gonna get over fast getting involved with Dozer and Swoop.

Rick Stantz vs. Switchblade (APW Australian title)

Switchblade is still here?

The Alliance vs. Dingo Devine and The Masters

As much as I'd like to see Dingo's turn lead to a push up the card, Boo and the Alliance have the plans in the bigger storylines.

Stan Standish vs. ???

Nighthawk? Scorpio? Pat Rigsby? Lots of great local jobbers in Australia. :)
