Really... Thats pretty offputting. From what i have seen in a video review, it just looks like a MMO button basher. Bit dissapointing

It is and it isn't. Their intent was to create something different from the old MMO 'auto attack' standard. Bringing the consolers in meant that it had to be action oriented and that's pretty much what it is. I don't use a controller (strictly trackball & keyboard) but from what I've read and been told, it's no more button mashing than Street Fighter or Tekken or any of the other fighting games. Combos are often simple, depending on weapon, though some of dual wield's combos are freakin' ridiculous on the PC (tap x10 or tap x9 then hold). But unlike the fighting games, every time you hit a button while pursuing a combo, you're attacking still (with the combo finish at the end). Honestly, I didn't think I'd like it at first but now, I love it. Then again, martial arts has me hooked with its wrestling crossover (flying knee, enzuigiri, elbow drop, spinning backfist, etc).

Thanks Remmy.. Wasn't sure it would have been my cup of tea (coffee for the americans) but i kind of wish i had picked it up instead of Dungeons. That game doesn't even play currently and im waiting of the developers to fix it

I'm playing on the PS3 I'm willing to roll a character hero or villain on another server to play with some GDS folks. I've only been playing for 3 days and my main toon is already level 20.

First patch is due next week and it looks like a whopper! Catwoman is starring in it. :D

Sorry to bump this, but could someone post a list of the different heroes/villains you can have as your inspiration?

Specifically, is the Scarecrow one of them?

bah, just saw this. No, there are only three mentors on each side, each representing a power origin.

Heroes have Superman (Meta/Mutant), Wonder Woman (Magic), and Batman (Tech). Villains have Joker (Tech), Circe (Magic), and Lex Luthor (Meta/Mutant). The Scarecrow is actually an early game boss (the fight is lots of fun). I might have a screenie of after Batwoman and I beat him....

Yeah, I do:

Decided to buy it. What servers are people on

I'm on New Frontier. Most of the CoH refugees are on Virtue & Vice (gee, I wonder why? :p). It's not going to matter much in another month or so. They're merging each platform's servers into two MegaServers. So all the PS3 people will play with all the other PS3 people and all the PC people will play with all the PC people. One server for each platform.

I did read about the mega servers. I picked 'Cry For Blood' as i saw some people from here were on there

So I played for bit, kinda liked the different twist on combat, but overall, I didn't get hooked to the game. I'm not even sure why precisely. Combats can be fun, stories are fine, but I never felt the urge to play "just a little more". Neither did I ever think "oh I need to find some time this week to accomplish this goal". Some intangibles are missing for me with DCUO. Maybe it was because it felt like an empty and lonely world.

Not surprised this happened, little surprised it happened so soon. Most of the games that have tried to be a subscription based MMO recently have gone free to play. Sucks for those that bought it and paid any sort of subscription fee's and how now the game is basically given up on as I doubt they will be constantly fixing/introducing new stuff for a game that won't be bringing in the subscription money.

This shows me 3 possible things.

1: The highly talked about D/C online game is not doing that great.

2: Free to play MMO'S are picking up in popularity.

3: Both of the above.:p

I wonder if city of hero's will ever go the free to play rout. Or is there cult like following enough to keep em going.
