With no money, no commentators, no ring and okay no wrestlers and in one month Simply Awesome Wrestling begins its first tour. A touring promotion in America!? Can it work? Well from the crazy minds that brought you multilingual promos the Puro family brings you the first promotion to try and remove the "Sports" part of "Sports Entertainment" Whether the promotion can thrive within its particular niche remains to be seen, but its sure to be a memorable ride.

Simply Awesome Wrestling as a concept first came about as an idea when i was at school back in Sydney. 'Theatrical Entertainment'

was the term my father came up with when i was telling him the ideas i'd had, you see he'd just finished a show for Melbourne

Wrestling Federation (one of their last) he put over a Boo Smithson for those keeping score. He'd had abit of a drive to get home

but mum had been on at him to spend some time with us so he'd drove home for the weekend and i'd been allowed to stay up to wait

for him, of course i wanted to wait up just to tell him my great stories as well hear any locker room stories he would inevitably

tell me (and i was getting to old for mum to say they were unsuitable).

Wrestling Families;

 

 

If a book came out that chronicled the great wrestling families the Keiths, DeColts, Stones, Bumfholes, Eisens and who can forget

the Cornells would all get a chapter or two to themselves of course, but one family perhaps should get a little recognition, a

family that shows what persistence can achieve, a family whos head tried to bring 'Sports Entertainment' to Japanese Wrestling, and even though

nowhere in Japan would be willing to take a risk on this mans oddball style he never gave up. This was the early Eighties, the man was Kayin Puro

and in all honesty if the Puro wrestling family were born in America they would of been mentioned in the same breath regularly as

the Stones, the Keiths and the Cornells of the world. Pure Entertainment or perhaps 'Pur-o Entertainment' is this mans game and his tours became the talk of the wrestling world.

I've always wanted to do a 0000 Dynasty but i've had too many other ideas that kept getting in the way (some made it onto the

forums some only exist in notepad form), but well the time is right to see how this idea works. Simply Awesome Wrestling is a

wacky idea for a promotion that i have played around with a few times in private game form (one actually was 0000 lasted 2 years

and made it too small) i think the promotion suits a TV format in the same vein has RAW perhaps or my XWF dynasty (that didn't

last as long as i'd hoped because i think real world just doesn't suit me, i need the Cverse freedom).

 

Why SAW?

 

It had to be a promotion with a Logo, Banner and Title available simply because my artistic talent is limited and making any of

these myself would just not work. Other than that it was simply because i have used them before and the "Theatrical Entertainment"

leaves me with a fair few ideas.

 

Which Avatar?

 

Jack AV... Of course i haven't used any of the usual suspects. Donna Puro will be my Avatar of choice the daughter of Kayin

'Stranger than Fiction' Puro for those who have read my long running (and continuing) Awesome Max Wrestling dynasty.

I've set the promotion up with a touring schedule to start with, i thought it would better suit what i have in mind. I want to run

the promotions events in Seasons with 1/2 big storylines per season, i also plan on the events to be family friendly so don't

expect the edgier stuff that AMW often comes up with.

 

Promotion Pacts;

 

The easiest thing to do with a 0000 game is sign promotion pacts galore to stop your top *stars going missing, will i be doing

this!? I think i will allow myself at best one pact after each tour*1 and anyway i think ZEN should be my first target to sign a

Working Agreement with.

 

Thanks to Adam for this great game that takes up way too much of my time. To the alt makers whos work i always have ready to use,

to Nok Su Kau for his render i'm borrowing for Donna Puro and to Zergon whos idea it was for me to sign the character i fell in

love with, Kayin "Stranger than Fiction" Puro.

That is a given, he will be playing the role of owner/Occasional Wrestler, but at 50 he will of course be limited somewhat.

Wrestling Families: The Puro's

 

 

The matriarch of the Puro family, Kayin 'Stranger than Fiction' Puro to use his American "Stage name" began wrestling in Japan in 1981, he actually got himself a trial at Golden Canvas Wrestling but the management at the time just didn't understand what he was trying to do. Kayin Puro's oddball character was about 20 years too early for Japanese wrestling and so in October 1987 he made the first of his many tours that he would take over the years. The first time Kayin Puro wrestled in Melbourne he stayed on an extra two months something that he has pointed out many times since that he decided at the last minute to stay on and if he didn't he would never of met his wife of 19 years Sharon Puro (who was of course Sharon Campbell previously).

Donna Puro, Wrestling Innovator or Pur-o Crazy!

 

 

So my father and i started to regularly discuss what would happen in this "Theatrical Entertainment" promotion of mine and it

became a sort of game we would play, at the time it never occured to my father that less than four years later i would be putting

my ideas into practice. My mother was really against me following dad into the business, in fact if the truth be told she actually

tried to get him out the business back in 98' when i was four and my brother Kiro had just been born, at the time he was working

for Awesome Max Wrestling a company he held fond memories for. He'd shattered his Elbow in a match against Texan Brawler Rick Horn

and mom wanted him to come home to stay, he tried but the fans actually continued to hold signs up for him and he was soon back in

the company and helped out backstage, helped set up the ring and in-front of the camera he entertained with his oddball character.

With no momentum behind them (they are a brand new company), no popularity as of yet (they really do need better advertising), no

prestige and from what we are lead to believe no starting income, Simply Awesome Wrestling, or SAW are really becoming the little

promotion that you need to look out for. So the internet (or atleast the wrestling forums side of the internet) is starting to

chatter about the company and for those of you that don't follow twitter a certain Remmington Remus posted this

Right in the bottom left hand corner of your favorite wrestling news site you spot it, you do your little clicky thing on it and a

new page opens up no it isn't a pop up your nortons working fine it really is a wrestling promotion, you can dispute it all you

want Simply Awesome Wrestling has a ring and the concept of pins and submissions, and the first show will not only be live at

Pipers Casino but you will be able to download the whole show just a few days after the live show. But who are there top stars why

My name is Donna Puro, i am my fathers daughter i've been preparing to become a Wrestler since i was 4 years old but only began

'official' training a few months ago when my father Kayin 'Stranger than Fiction' Puro finally caved in to my wish. I do know it

was my mother that didn't want me in the business but with the stories my fathers fed me with all these years how could i be

anything else!? Simply Awesome Wrestling, "Theatrical Entertainment" the dream is soon to become a reality.

March 18th 1991 Kayin Puro married Sharon Campbell in a fairly "normal" ceremoney a far cry from his lavish character he worked in

the main event of every little bush league promotion in Australia for the next 5/6 years seemingly fulfilled with this, on the

outside atleast, on the inside Puro was yearning to tour again but he couldn't take his wife and new baby on the road .. Or could

May week 3, 1997 Kayin 'Stranger than Fiction' Puro made his debut for

Awesome Max Wrestling against Canadian Veteran 'Experience' Andrew

Brookfield, Kayin Puro won and his character was perfect for the

"Wrestlecrap" style of the promotion. Kayin Puro was home and his family

were settling nito life in Texas and it was his wife Sharons turn to yearn

on the inside, she missed Sydney and when she fell pregnant with her

second child in 98' she would go home.

So the ideas are there but money will be needed. I've done my research

we need sponsors, i guess my business brain comes from my mothers side

cos' dads extremely useless with money and nogotiations, but he has been

helping me out so much so that when we decided that the USA was

the only place we could open our company he used his contacts, he

worked hard and he managed to get us a great deal with Piper Casino in

Las Vegas to run our shows there. My Father Kayin Puro is to be the

owner of Simply Awesome Wrestling .. Form now atleast!

daughter. We haven't learned the names of any other Wrestlers that will

be on the roster but we do know that Remmington Remus will be calling the

matches alongside Buttercup who will help Donna Puro keep the locker

Kayin 'Stranger than Fiction' Puro his wife who become a big benefactor of

Awesome Max Wrestling infact some say she saved the company after

Trenton Evenrud used the funds as his own personal petty cash, their

Children Donna, Kiro and the twins Mia and Rai Puro 'The Stranger than

Fiction' family oddballs to the last, but this Donnas story this is the story

of SAW. Lets start at the beginning of her career lets remember Simply

managed to get pretty much everyone on board that we wanted even the

biggest name on my list El Hijo Del Zonk who also works for FCW. El Hijo is

someone who can be a top draw and big merchandise seller and will help

get us some name value alongside our top Canadian talent The Wizard of

In a match tha was miles better than the other two on the show Donna was clearly protected and it was her father the 50 year old 'Stranger than Fiction' who did most of the work hitting the Tornado DDT on The Wizard of Ottowa in 11:37 before making the pin to win the match and send the fans home happy!</p><p> </p><p>

Evil Spirit was the focal point of a backstage incident at last nights show when he started spreading rumours about The Wizard of Ottawa, almost leading to a fight breaking out between the two. It is thought that Donna Puro dealt with this without the need to involve her father, who was in attendence. She took Evil Spirit to one side and gave him a 'Stern Warning' it is unknown at this time how the rest of the locker room will react to this incident and Evil Spirit seemed to of got the message 'Loud and Clear'

Inside the notebook of Donna Puro: 'The strange ramblings of an unusual mind'

 

The matches were easily the weakest parts of the show, other than mine and dads match with Sprite and Wizard of Ottowa!

 

Thinking about that match dad was a little off his game and i was tiring towards the end, we need to do something about that.

 

We need more storylines, i thought 2 would be enough but apparently my arrival in oz and the SAW Title tournament were not enough, talking of which mine and Sprites little Oz storyline is the hottest thing we've got going right now and apart from Buttercups narration we had the hottest segment.

 

Talking of Buttercups narration plus her unfortunate meeting with the Evil Spirit she wins show ones Performer of the night award!

The announcing went very well and lifted the show.

 

The refereeing was not up to a good enough standard ...

 

We had a couple of fans who brought signs ... (well we only had a couple of fans so around 20% of our audience brought signs) we had "A-Game" should never lose, which must of been his brother or something right!? And 'Kayin Puro is Awesome' which is more like it ... I love the signs and really hope to see more and once the website is running efficiently we'll hopefull have some pics up of our sign carrying audience.

 

.. And in closing, The show was a success and should of increased our popularity.

Scary Gothic music blears out of the sound system and Evil Spirit makes his way back out and specificly to the announce table where Kayin Puro is now sat the psychotic leather wearing crazy masked madman got right up in Puros face who shouted at the masked man in his native tongue (Japanese) this seemed to infuriate Evil Spirit (who is also Japanese and so would understand him) and he started to throw some big rights at Puro before dragging him over the announce table and rolling him into the ring, he then headed over to where the ref was standing and threw him into the ring signalling for him to start a match ...

Kayin 'Stranger than Fiction' Puro beat Evil Spirit in an even contest when Evil Spirit got angry and confronted the ref after Puro kicked out of a pin from a long two count Puro then hit the Tornado DDT and dropped on Evil Spirit in 9:49 making the pin.

The strangeman "I'm just standing or making my way somewhere .. i'm erm .. I cant seem to remember .."

 

Donna Puro "Are you my tag team partner for tonight? I've challenged Sprite and The Wizard of Ottowa to a match you see .."

 

The strangeman once again nods and then shakes his head ..

 

Donna Puro "Look i'm getting sick of this you either are or you aint you cant keep saying yes and no are you doing that on purpose?"

 

The Strangeman pulls some straw out of his strange mask "Thats the problem see i have an head full of straw (he shows her the straw at this) and no brain .. Oh if i only had a brain!" At this he looks down sadly (possibly .. Erm we cant really tell if he's sad he's wearing that strange mask ..).

 

Donna Puro "I'm sorry we haven't been introduced properly my name is Donna Puro .."

 

Strangeman "OOhhh .. Thats it your who i came to see my name is Ben Scarecrow and you can help me get my brain!" The two shake hands (Ben Scarecrow loses some more straw from out his sleeve) and they head to the ring ...

The previously on SAW was something that could of gone either way but i think it went well it lets the fans know whats going on who is fueding with who, and is a real interesting reminder, especially if you didn't see our last show.

 

Mine and Ben's match with Sprite and Wizard of Ottowa probably shouls of been lower down the card it killed a little of the momentum we'd built with such a great match between Evil Spirit and my father, who pulled double duty for us wrestling again in the main event earning him this months Performer of the night award!

The refereeing was better this show, and again the Announcing lifted the show as a whole.
