djthefunkchris Posted April 25, 2011 Share Posted April 25, 2011 Although I was a huge fan of both of these backgrounds, I have to throw this up here as just an opinion. 1. The ones Taker has offered are VERY close to what your offering here. He has grey (both light and dark) and Red options. 2. I've found some problems with darker area's, and I'm sure the reason for multiple backgrounds is to ensure we don't have those problems. Example: Picking a color that isn't in your render will help your's stand out (why your grey looks so great when using really colorfull renders, however Raiden's hat can get lost without the shine on it). 3. The backgrounds offered are really REALLY close to the same thing. I do believe the jhd background was totally inspired by the first background offered up by Taker. Your's is different, but we do have light and dark options for backgrounds. Bassically, what I'm saying is I wouldn't mind seeing some cuts on backgrounds already made (I LIKE THE BLUE ONE!) lol... I personally won't be doing any cuts on the default backgrounds as I believe there's enough of a significant difference between these and Takers' as to what these achieve overall. (Taker's certainly work, and I have tested some of the new colors, but for my money these will give me more consistent results which will work better for themed pictures packs.) Dark on dark isn't really too big of a concern for me. Sure, some things blend into the shadows, occasionally if they're not using a backlight, but I'm okay with just leaving it as is and calling it "atmospheric" So ultimately I'm gonna stick with these since it'll be easier for people in the long run (like how if you want a kyky (or cw saton to some degree) for TEW it's easy to get), which should hopefully make it less painful for the first mods that come out Thanks for the feedback though, will definitely be trying to get more Marvel and DC in there! Any pointers would be appreciated. Edit* Just saw your comment two posts up. Hehe yepp, Photoshop 4 for me on this PC (although I do have 5 on my laptop). Hopefully my tips helped out? Any other questions I'll be glad to answer The other thing I should add is that hair is particularly tough, since whispy bits and points usually show a lot of background in them. In some cases I have to cheat a little and cut the whole bit out, and then redraw the hair back in (just a single line, usually). I then use the smudge tool afterwards to make it look more a part of the picture. Hmm, I should add that to the tips section at some stage.
