~ The Golden Age: 1987 Official Release ~

Have you looked at the gimmick performance skills at the bottom of the Skills profile? That would give you a further clue of which particular gimmick types that they're stronger with. Momentum, gimmick risk, and difficulty will still come into play, but if you find that they're better with Wholesome or Cool or whatever gimmicks, trying to stick to those would increase you chances of a higher score.

At first I was guilty of just putting a gimmick with a worker who used it in real life [iE Mr. Perfect with Egomaniac, Undertaker with Deadman both getting a 66], but then I looked a the skill boxes to try and match it up better and still received 66 for 'Old School Face' with Sting, 66 for Show Stealer with Shawn Michaels, & 66 for Man Beast with Vader.

All appeared in an 80+ for their first angle as well. If nobody is having this issue it must be me and bad luck I guess, but I wanted to see if it was popping up for anyone else.

I'm struggling to have any gimmick ratings debut over 66. I'm playing the updated version and only have experience using WWF. I'm filtering to exclude gimmicks that don't suit the worker and make sure they are appropriate for face and heel workers. It usually falls to 66, never more, but sometimes less. This has happened on approximately 20 debuting workers. I vaguely remember something about this with real world mods happening in the past, but I usually don't play anything but the default database.

Is this happening with other people? I wouldn't consider myself a novice at tew so I'm just sort of at a loss and hoping for some input. Thanks guys.

Things that can contribute to that cap are your avitar's creativity and your product. If your product says you will attract fans that won't be keen on gimmicks then that will stop them from being highly rated.

Don't sweat it too much as the penalty is supposed to be minor.

Ah, didn't think about my avatar stats as a reason, thank you. Both of those are good reasons. I'll keep truckin along then, thanks again.

I'm going with a story Turner buys away the "World Championship Wrestling" trademark somehow... the TBS connection, something with the show somehow... licensing or something. I left The Great American Bash and Starrcade as NWA shows, changing those names on WCW's PPV lineups. Then I poodled around in the editor (nixed loyalties, nixed Dragon's freelancer status, etc.) and signed Steamboat, Flair, Terry Funk and Dusty Rhodes to writtne contracts and sort of formed my roster around them. Tried to be as authentically WCW as I could, great mod dude.</p>

You only do this when you are changing their gimmicks or do you do this at the beginning of every game? How long does it take to do this really?

Seems alot of people want to start with wcw or a month before

I've tried to start with WCW three times now, twice just simming to there and applying and the third time, booking SWC until I got to December 1988. I've been denied all three times. Usually I just start over but this last time, I quit my job at SWC and formed my own promotion to take down WCW.

<p>I love this mod so much. I've played some as WWF and JCP, but have been working lately on a play through as the C-Verse's TCW and dominating my way up quickly (I started as a Local 0/0/0 Fed with TCW. I'm currently at Regional after like 6 six months with an amazing roster).</p><p> </p><p>

Some relationships I noticed that aren't there and should be added if you ever do another update...</p><p> </p><p>

Larry Hennig/Curt Hennig - Blood Relatives (Father and Son)</p><p>

Curt Hennig/Rick Rude - Best Friends (Real Life Childhood Best Friends)</p><p> </p><p>

There are a few more and I'll post them as I remember them. I just mention these two in particular, because all three are in my TCW. ;p</p><p> </p><p>

VINCE MCMAHON AND WWF....I'M COMING FOR YOU!!!!</p>

Simmed up till November '88 with Apter as my character, and had to live edit JCP to -9999999 and 0 pop but the sucessfully took 'em over. Then proceeded to sign the roster to written deals. Got an uphill battle, because Turner won let me negotiate with any one signed to a cult or higher promotion. </p><p> </p><p> Thank god for Dusty and Flair. Hopefully their overness will be high enough to through this lean time.</p>

<p>Playing as WWF even with V1.1 is a little tough, I was thinking about making a few more changes but something ironic happened with the timing. I'll let you guys now I'm working on a mod for Dec '88 (not going to need a hype thread or anything because nearly all of the team stuff is done). I'm saying this because I was working on the WWF roster tonight, I have to say I have even more respect for Vince McMahon as a booker, promoter and business man. In TEW terms he's a master player who knows the mechanics inside and out. </p><p> </p><p>

The changes he made over those next 21 months (Mar '87-Dec '88) were huge. Not to mention the 30-35 number of dead weight workers he cut (even some big names were good releases considering their workrate ie. JYD), here are some of the names he signed and featured by Dec '88....</p><p> </p><p>

Ted DiBiase</p><p>

Curt Hennig</p><p>

Owen Hart</p><p>

Arn Anderson</p><p>

Tully Blanchard</p><p>

Rick Rude</p><p>

Bad News Allen</p><p>

Shawn Michaels</p><p>

Marty Jannetty</p><p>

Terry Taylor</p><p>

One Man Gang</p><p>

Ray Traylor</p><p>

The Barbarian</p><p>

The Warlord</p><p>

The Ultimate Warrior</p><p> </p><p>

Also a big note, most of the guys McMahon released over that time period were toxic for the backstage environment. Another TEW mechanic he was obviously well aware of.</p><p> </p><p>

Just struck me as I was editing how great some of the signings McMahon made over that time. Especially when I think about the gimmick some guys were given that were so memorable and creative. Granted for every Mr. Perfect and Million Dollar Man there was a Blue Blazer and Red Rooster but that's the nature of the beast (hit and miss, same as TEW). In short, I think the roster WWF had in March '87 was great but it evolved so well over those next crucial few years it solidified WWF as <em>the</em> promotion. By late '88 McMahon had streamlined it by at least 20 workers (even though running the same if not more shows) and had brought in some of the North America's best talent in unison with some of the best star potential (charisma, menace, star quality etc). He played TEW very well <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>Oh man...A Genadi 1989 mod? I've been looking for a decent 1989 mod for years! This was my favorite year as a fan as the WWF and the NWA/WCW put on some great shows. </p><p> </p><p>

The WWF had a great roster in '89 but there's an argument to be made that WCW had the most potential that was pretty much wasted as we got into 1990.</p>

<p>Any idea why my match grades would be so low with WCW?</p><p> </p><p>

I have a stacked roster and my highest rated match was Flair vs. Rhodes for the World title... 80.</p><p> </p><p>

My segments are all stellar but matches always seem to under perform. I haven't changed any product settings at all.</p><p> </p><p>

Any ideas?</p>
