Big high five to my Finnish friends

Don't get much into hockey. But having grown up in New England I certainly know what it is to see the home team have that great breakthrough after years of futility. Congrats on the world title. There's nothing quite like being the best at what you do. Enjoy it. You earned it at last.

VITTU!

I only know about seven words of your language, but unsurprisingly one of them is this one. Naughty boy. :D (The others, incidentally, are all song titles :p)

Congratulations, although to be fair, Finland being good at ice hockey is about as surprising as the Cornish being good at eating pasties. If we only won a pasty-eating competition twice out of 75 tournaments, I'd be a bit embarassed. :D

So, I have to ask... Did this comp have no NHL players? Or any professional players? Just wondering.

Its professional players. Its a bit different, though. Because of when the tournament takes place, many NHL players are unavailable. Many due to their teams still being in the playoffs, and many others seem to turn down the invitation. I know that rejected invitations affects the rosters of the US and Canadian teams, and I imagine it would for other bigger nations with many NHL players as well. You also do get some players who join up after their team is knocked out of the playoffs (Marion Hossa, James Van Riemsdyk, etc).

So yes, it is full professional players and quite a few NHLers, but its not really "cream of the crop" either.

Congratulations Finland

Slightly off topic, but does it annoy anybody else when a team wins the Superbowl and are declared the World champions. If only 3 countries play it, is that such an achievement? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching the NFL but the terminology and declarations can become annoying.
