Nevy's LAST EVER radio show

Nevermore

Recommended Posts

I hope this isn't frowned upon as there is a prior thread. However, since it's the last time ever, I wanted to give it a bit of extra advertising in the thread title :p. If it's a problem, I do apologise but I figured this thread wouldn't be used after tonight. With that in mind...

Tonight on http://www.insanityradio.com, 22:00-00:00 (GMT) or 17:00-19:00 (EST):

That fitting night has finally arrived: when the Graveyard Shift oversess it's own passing. But those of us with an allegiance to the "home of underground music" consider this a time for celebration rather than mourning. As such, there is a very special playlist planned and we'll revisit some of the best themes chosen by listeners.

TONIGHT: 22:00-00:00 (GMT) or 17:00-19:00 (EST).

THERE WILL BE TWO THEMES TONIGHT AND TWO ODD ONES OUT. TEXT OR E-MAIL IN TO IDENTIFY THOSE THEMES AND THE ONES THAT DO NOT FIT.

BE THE FIRST TO CORRECTLY IDENTIFY BOTH THEMES AND BOTH ODD ONES OUT AND YOU'LL BE THE LAST EVER GRAVEYARD SHIFT CHAMPION. WE'LL MAKE SURE TO SEND YOU SOME COMMEMORATIVE INSANITY MERCHANDISE.

Karen triumphed last week but was kind enough to leave the choice of playlist to me . It will feature:

Irish punk-rockers THERAPY? taking a surprising musical turn

Funk pioneers PARLIAMENT-FUNKADELIC

An oft-forgotten BILLY JOEL singlel

Masked surf-rockers LOS STRAITJACKETS

HAYSEED DIXIE'S hilarious blend of country and classic rock

In celebration of their upcoming twentieth studio album "Fly From Here", the godfathers of progressive rock YES

KARNIVOOL's stunningly ntelligent rock

Unsigned L.A. street performer CHELSEA WILLIAMS

PAUL SIMON's most heartfelt ballad

Fleetwood Mac's LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM with arguably his most impressive solo guitar performance

CALEXICO's Tex-Mex country

Norwegian black-metallers IMMORTAL

Kingston's wierdest, CARDIACS

...and this week's overdose features two tracks from the one and only FRANK ZAPPA.

What connects these seemingly incongruess artists? For the very last time, tune in or miss out.

<p>Oh no!!! I missed it..ohhh I'm so sorry. I wanted to listen,I had my stupid iPad set up, but never got the notification because it died and I didn't realize it. <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />. I guess that's what happens when it gets down to 2% <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I'm now sad. Nevvy if you do get your shot in radio you have to keep us up to date.</p>

I believe he's graduating.

What're your post-Insanity plans, Nevvy? Grad school? Have a job/internship lined up?

Well, on a brief update, I've got that first job in radio as a studio producer for Classic FM. Working night shifts but it's a start.

Knowing you're a former Londoner, I'll assume/hope the station name means something to you.

Haha, I love how your last amateur show featured Immortal and Therepy? and your first professional gig is with Classic FM. :D

:D

I take it they don't do Internet broadcasting, Nevy?

They do actually but you won't ever hear me talk I'm afraid. They only hire celebrities to present.

Congrats, Nevvy!

May not be a behind-the-mic job, but it's in the business and you can start networking now in earnest!

Pretty impressive format shift though, heh. Being a tubist, though, I can only stand so much of strings. Give me a brass band any day, and I don't think there's too much of Cory or Foden's or Grimthorpe Collery on Classic FM.
