The DUWS roster have all been rendered and I'm now in the process of adding them to the data for a stream next weekend.

 

I believe the next promotion that Tiberious and myself will be working on is the Northern Wrestling Alliance (NWA) out of Canada.

 

In fact I think it would be as good a time as any to open up the character submission contest for the promotion.

 

Here is the NWA bio:

 

"The Northern Wrestling Alliance is Canada's premier wrestling organisation and has been in business since the early part of 1981. During its infancy, the NWA had to persevere during the rapid expansion of the AWF who were taking not only the US, but Canada by storm. The NWA remained focused on their business strategy however, and kept the Canadian audience gripped to their product.

 

A great deal of the top North American talent has at one time or another plyed their trade in the ring of the NWA and it is generally accepted that the NWA is the home for the stars of tomorrow. Unfortunately for the NWA, when their top workers' contracts come up for renewal, oftentimes they head for perceived greener pastures such as the CWE of the AWF but recently the Canadian promotion has upped their determination to take the fight to their southern neighbours, offering bigger contracts to those who they so desperately want to keep under lock and key."

 

They are a fairly tradional wrestling as a sport promotion. However, they are not NoTBPW, so don't be afraid to add a bit of personality to the character you submit.

Stats: Great Brawling, Mat work and power. decent all round stats. Not much charisma, his more of an enforcer type so he works best with a manager.

 

Bio: The Canadian Buzzsaw Bentley Matthews is a power house of a man. Got the nickname Buzzsaw due to him being only 5'9 and thickly muscled with an aggressive ring style and a never say die attitude. Matthews looks to have a decent future in either the singles or tag team division.

Bio: "Big Time" Lucas Caine is one of the new breed of NWA workers in Canada. Blessed with a good - and somewhat unforgetable - look, Lucas has all the tools to go along way in the business. Unfortunately, as well as having the skills, Lucas has an ego that is as big as his afro. This has resulted in many warnings from the NWA, especially (insert high member of NWA's name here).

Ethnicity: White

Appearance: dark hair, arrogant look, blazer and cravat

Stats: Good Technical, good mic skills

 

Bio: William Churchill is a solid technical wrestler from England. A relative newcomer to NWA, Churchill claims to be a Royal envoy sent by the Queen, as the standard of wrestling in the promotion was an embarresment.

 

Churchill has vowed to win the NWA North American Heavyweight title for Queen and country. With his skillset it certainly seems a strong possibilty of that becoming a reality.

Size: Heavyweight

Ring Style: Regular

Nationality: Russian

Ethnicity: White

Appearance: Bald, clean shaven, menacing face, muscular frame.

Stats: Good brawling, good technical, high intensity, powerful, good agility.

Bio: Boris Krylov is a 6'5" powerhouse who is noted for having good agility and speed for such a big man. A former Olympic wrestler, Boris uses both power and technique to destroy anyone who stands in his way. In late 2009 Boris moved to Canada to spend time with his wife, and he quickly became a hot name on the independent scene, which lead to him getting a contract with the NWA.

 

While he's still low on the card, Boris is seen as a future star and already the bigger companies have their eyes on him.

Bio: Alexander "Ace" Rigins is a young hotshot from Calgary. He has become an icon on the Internet for his selling ability and managed to make several NWA employees think he was legitimately injured in a match in late 2009. He however has been stuck in the NWA's midcard, as he seems very eager to go to Japan or the AWF if they come calling, causing a rift between him and his bosses, (NWA Head Booker and NWA Owner)

Ethnicity: Caucasian

Appearance: Blond middle-height hair ,Sunglasses, Cocky (look almost like James Prudence)

Stats: average all-round state, Great entertainment, sex and star quality

Bio: Izzy Love is a all rounder from the US. Having the talks and the looks to get by with his average wrestling skills, Izzy come to NWA to shape up his wrestling skill for the big league. If anything can hurt his young career, it is his well documented past with drugs, something he been struggle with since 16.

Stats: Flyer, decent SQ, low entertainment

Bio: Europa 'represents' Europe in Canada. A natural highflyer he can sure wow the crowds of the NWA in the ring, but he is best kept away from the mic. Europa has been mainly used as a tag competitor up to this point, having been paired with various members of the NWA roster over his 4 years with the company. Many feel it is time to see if the European cruiserweight can make it on his own, but some are not yet convinced he has what it takes to take it to the next level.

Name: 'The Aussie Pharaoh' Justin Tense

Age: 25

Size: Heavyweight

Ring Style: Brawling

Nationality: Egyptian

Ethinicity: White

Appearance: Long, Black Hair, with a Pharaoh Crown on his head.

Finisher: Pyramid Driver (Yumiko Hotta's Pyramid Driver)

Stats: An all-around wrestler, who has a huge amount of intensity.

Bio: 'The Aussie Pharaoh' Justin Tense is an Egyptian Wrestler who is looking to make it big down under. DUWS was particularly impressed with Tense's work and signed him a contract. A superb all rounder, with a lot of intensity, he is one of the better workers in Australia. He is looking to go to Japan and the US, where his style would fit perfectly, and so may not remain with DUWS for too long...

Name: "Yesteryear's Hero" Rex Nebula

Age: 35

Size: Light Heavyweight

Ring Style: Brawler

Nationality: American

Ethnicity: Caucasian

 

Appearance: He is six feet, four inches tall and weighs 264 pounds. He has shoulder length brown hair with a few streaks of gray near his temples. He also has dark blue eyes. He wears paint on his entire face. From a black base, he works in a design that usually covers his brow and eyes. I like to think that he is hiding his pain, but in a rebellious way.

 

 

Finisher: Betelgeuse (it's a cradle piledriver)

 

Stats: He is a well rounded brawler (up near 70 on all three) with passable mat wrestling ability (near forty) and almost no flying ability (30 aerial and 45 flashiness). Average physical skills but with the ability to work a slow building match. A veteran, his performance skills are good to great (75-80) across the board. He carries a good deal of charisma (lower 70s) and decent microphone skills (60s). His weakness is that he is injury prone (50s) and carries around the consequences of a terrible leg injury that penalizes his performances (yellow or orange is fine). Already thinking of his future, he has taken to becoming a referee after he can no longer wrestle.

 

His personality is that of a compassionate grizzled veteran who is always willing to take a big bump. His body a mess, Rex does smoke and drink to a moderate degree. Oh, and he's a liberal bisexual.

 

Bio: "Yesteryear's Hero" originally gained prominence as a burly young daredevil with decent all-around skills. He was in high demand with his energy, youthful good looks, and entertaining "Space Explorer" gimmick. Unfortunately, just as he was on the rise to superstardom, a botched suplex from the top of a ladder shattered Nebula's lower leg. His x-ray was described as looking like a cloud had parked itself just above his ankle. Rex was sidelined for just over a year following extensive surgery and therapy.

 

When he returned, it was obvious that Rex could no longer perform at the level he had been accustomed to. His popularity fell gradually. Bitter and jaded, Nebula retired from competition to finish attaining his B.A. that he had given up on years prior.

 

Coming out of retirement with an open mind, Rex declared to take work anywhere he could find it and would still take crazy bumps for the smallest of crowds. In a surprising turn of events, he was given a second chance with the NWA promotion based out of Canada. He plays the role of the bitter veteran for the promotion, hiding his regrets with paint and going straight forward with a brawling style that features many strikes and suplexes.

 

Stilll, the window for Rex is closing to make an impact and most likely he will spend his twilight years as a referee if he hopes to stay in the business once his body finally gives out.

Name: Grzegorz Błaszczykowski

Age: 26 (don't really care though)

Size: Middleweight

Ethnicity: Polish/White

Appearance: Annoyed look on his face, stuble, blonde hair.

Ring Style: Cruiserweight

Finisher: Heaven Sent (Swanton Bomb)

Stats: Good highflying/mic skills/selling.

 

Bio: Grzegorz Błaszczykowski is a Polish wrestler competing for the NWA in Canada. Błaszczykowski got his start on the European independent scene, but was eventually spotted by NWA booker (insert name here).

 

Błaszczykowski was intended to come in and perform as a highflying babyface, however Błaszczykowski changed this before his first match began, NWA's ring announcer could not pronounce his name correctly, forcing Grzegorz to steal the mic to introduce himself with his name pronounced correctly. This was fine until Grzegorz launched into a tirade about the ignorant people not able to pronounce his name, comparing the Canadian crowd to ignorant Americans. NWA saw promise in this gimmick and began allowing Grzegorz to introduce himself, and often rant against the crowd, before his matches.

Name: Nicky Dynamite

Age: 19

Size: Lightweight

Ring Style: High Flyer

Nationality: Canadian

Ethnicity: Japanese

Appearance: 5' 7" Young, shoulder length puffy black hair, Japanese look. Bushy eye brows.

Finisher: 450 leg drop. Sleeper. (used on giants)

Stats: Great flying stats, decent at the rest.

 

Bio: Nicky was born in Toronto to immigrant parents. The youngster became fascinated by the old school style of wrestling and it wasn't long before he started to train to become like the stars that he admired so much. Knowing that he wasn't as big as the other wrestlers, Nicky started to shape himself like the cruiser weights.

 

Nicky gets his Dynamite nickname because of his explosive speed and Ariel style as well as his abundance of strength. Nicky has surprised many an opponent and fans a like by lifting huge guys and tossing them like so much dead weight.

 

Nicky tends to run with a No Fear gimmick as he gets to wrestle mostly guys that are bigger than himself. Truly fearless but not reckless in the ring, Nicky stands out in the more grapple based promotions of the great white north.

Name: Matt Darrin

Age: 27

Size: Lightweight

Ring Style: Cruiserweight

Nationality: Canadian

Ethnicity: White

Appearance: Short brown hair (Bobby Roode style), stubble and sun glasses.

Finisher: Dare to be Great (Frog Splash)

Stats: Good flying skills, good charisma, average brawling & mat skills

 

Bio: "Daring" Matt Darrin has been called the "Winnipeg Wonder" due to his awe inspiring high risk arsenal... and the fact he's from Winnipeg! Matt began his career as a member of the ring crew and paid his dues through hard work and intense training. Unfortunately a few recent run ins with the law have hindered him somewhat in his career and it looks as though this is one talent that could end up wasted if not managed properly.

 

The NWA has seen what Darrin could become if he keeps his head and have given him a lifeline to resurrect his career, and the Winnipeg Wonder has repaid that faith thus far, putting on some solid mid card matches and keeping out of trouble.
