As Miss Dice began the lesson once again Roberta couldn't understand why the way the substitute teacher stood at the board reminded her of someone but there was no time for that now, not with the Dress Rehersal starting straight after that class.

It's genius in its simplicity. Each person has his or her own character, the story follows on nicely and it doesn't feel like you're fitting the stories around what the game throws at you.

The pair split up. A couple of moments later Benny piped up

The lights got brighter, then they were jammed on full which left everyone blinking in the sudden glare, followed by all the lights going off. With everyone's vision momentarily ruined Roberta skipped away, her muscles remembering the exact route off stage for her. Once off stage, she ran for her locker.

Solar Girl flew at Fluke to deliver a Flying punch but missed and got caught with a Martial Arts Kick which sent her spinning into some empty chairs.

Benson Burner unleashed a volley of Fireballs at Fluke that sent her flying into the far wall. Solar Girl climbed out of the pile of chairs and walked over to Fluke rubbing her jaw.

Benson Burner unleashed his Flamethrower strike at Sharpshooter and both him and Solar Girl were enveloped in flames. Solar Girl dropped Shapshooter and Robyn fired an Arrow, which Exploded into a Net and caught Sharpshooter in mid-drop and hung him from the rear of the stage set.

High School Heroes was a fantastic idea. Different from the Cactus Man Adventures, but keeps the same characters and tied in nicely at the end.

AUTHOR'S NOTES

 

For anyone interested about the High School Heroes issues, the inspiration came when I ended the turn after Cactus Man beat, but utimately lost to, Mind Bender. The first 'news story' that popped up told me that Robyn, Benson & Solar Girl foiled a robbery masterminded by The Thinking Fink and including Fluke & Sharpshooter. Fink & Sharpshooter were apprehended. The rest of it, unlike all issues barring Issue#0, was pulled from my brain.

 

Given that I was kind relying on Robyn's help that night but she actually WAS busy I figured she deserved her own story as it could be the last time I write about her. Hope you folks enjoyed it

With that Robyn fired a double volley of Regular Arrows at Aikio, who took one in the leg and one in the arm. He turned to the teen hero and rushed at her. Just as he was about to land a Leaping Spin Kick he was plucked from the air by Cactus Man's Disc Blast!

Cactus Man smiled, then Aikio landed a massive Spinning Back Fist on the side of his head from behind! Cactus Man spup around and tried to hit an Energy Charged Punch but he was still seeing stars from the previous blow. Robyn fired another double volley of Regular Arrows, one caught Aikio in the side, the other one Aikio caught in his hand. He looked at Robyn and snapped the arrow between his fingers. He shook his finger at Robyn, ran at her and delivered a Hundred Hand Slap to her, knocking her to the ground.

Hey, Kung-Fool! EAT SPIKES!

 

Cactus Man lauched his Cactus Energy Spines at Aikio. Aikio ran at Cactus Man, slid under the oncoming spikes and tried to use a Slicing Leg Sweep to take Cactus Man's feet from under him. Cactus Man jumped over Aikio's leg and hit him with a full-force Disc Blast from mid-air which sent the kung-fu master through the roof into the dojo below.

Robyn sited a Taser Arrow through the hole and fired. Her face glowed blue for a second as the arrow found its mark. Cactus Man jumped through the hole with a Prison of Arubanon energy net ready and landed on Aikio just as he got up. The net's energy discharge sapped the last remaining strength from Aikio.

A Monsterous Vine swiped at Cactus Man, but bounced harmlessly off his Forcefield. Robyn, now up again, hit Easter with a Regular arrow. Easter turned and swiped her hand, a Massive Vine once again swiped Robyn away. Cactus Man's right hand swelled up to gigantic proportions as he prepared to strike with his Giant Cactus Palm. Easter turned to him

A vine whipped around Cactus Man's massive hand and pulled him over.

 

MEANWHILE...

 

Vines whipped around Robyn and coccooned her leaving only her face uncovered. Purple and orange flowers began to grow on the vines around her face. They quickly grew, the petals fell off, the buds swelled, then burst, blowing Toxic Plant Fumes into Robyn's face. She struggled against her bonds and managed to get her arms free to fire a Taser Arrow at Easter but more vines took her weapon as another generation of flowers ejected their toxins into her face. Robyn passed out.

Shocked, Easter could only look on as Cactus Man rose and hit her with a furious Energy Charged Punch. Vines caught her and swung her around to face him. Cactus Man fired some Cactus Energy Spines at her, but a wall of vines protected her.

Cactus Man unleashed a volley of Cactus Spines which found their target. But now she knew where he was. Vines plucked Cactus Man up and drew him close to her.

Black Bullet apeared from no-where and hit a Sprinting Punch that hit Cacus Man under the chin and flipped him into the air. However, Cactus Man judged his spin just right and hit Bullet with a Disc Blast in mid-air which blew Bullet into the far wall.

Black Bullet charged at Robyn, and barely faltered when she hit him with a Taser Arrow. He threw a Sprinting Elbow at her head, but only connected with Cactus Man's forcefield that he had thrown over her.

Cactus Man produced a Prison of Arubanon energy net and threw it over Golden Sun. Whilst writhing in pain Golden Sun managed to release a Heat Blast at Cactus Man that sent him flying. Golden Sun clawed his way out of the spent energy net

Cactus Man's hand swelled to an enormous size and he swatted Arsenic away with his Giant Cactus Palm. As he turned he saw Deep Red charging at Robyn. He quickly blew Peyote Dust at Red. She slowed to a stop and stood there swaying. Robyn pulled out two Taser Arrows and prepared to fire them at Deep Red just as Miss Arsenic fired a Longbow Arrow from the shadows. Luckily, Cactus Man reacted in time and threw a forcefield around Robyn and the arrow bounced away just as Robyn's arrows found their mark on Deep Red.

Miss Arsenic came leaping out of the darkness and thrust her Katana at Cactus Man, who just managed to move in time, then launched a volley of Cactus Energy Spines at her, which blew them both in different directions. Cactus Man hit Falcon with another Disc Blast then dragged him up, fist glowing, and pulled back his arm. Falcon swung his fist at Cactus Man and stabbed him with his wrist mounted Laser Sword. Cactus Man didn't even notice! He smashed his Energy Charged Fist into Falcon's faceplate, which shattered, ramming pieces of glass into the face beneith. Cactus Man blew Peyote Dust into Falcon's now exposed face. His head slumped inside the suit but the suit stayed standing.

Speed Burst swung her Baton again, but Violet broke free of Cactus Man's grip. Before she managed to gain any speed though Cactus Man hit her with a Disc Blast which sent her flying into a wall and she was out for the count.

Smouldering Fire used his Flamethrower attack but Pink Lotus back-flipped away, flipped past Wyllow, who missed with a Roundhouse Kick, and Kicked Smouldering Fire square in the head, before flipping away again. Cactus Man missed with a Disc Blast and Wyllow Scarlet once again missed with a Roundhouse Kick before Pink Lotus spun over to Smouldering Fire and Sliced him with her Fan. Cactus Man jumped on Lotus from behind and locked in the Cactus Clutch.

Pink Lotus reversed the Cactus Clutch and pushed Cactus Man away, but got hit with a Fireball from Smouldering Fire. As Pink Lotus dropped to her knees Cactus Man threw a Prison of Arubanon energy net over her. With the energy discharging into Lotus Wyllow landed a Quarter-Staff Blow on her while Smouldering Fire celebrated by doing his trademarked dance.

As Pink Lotus threw off the spent energy net Wyllow hit Lotus with a Vaulting Dropkick which sent her tumbling towards Smouldering Fire. He launched a Fireball at Pink Lotus but the martial arts master managed to duck it and hit a Palm Thrust that knocked Smouldering Fire down. Pink Lotus' shoulders bounced up and down, almost as if she was laughing. She turned around and was hit by a Disc Blast from the chest of Cactus Man which sent her flying into the distance.

Someone spiked her, but all the camera's caught were a black man's hand sneekin into shot an droppin something in her drink. I figured she was a lightweight drinker so I took her home. The next day she comes in and smashes up the place saying I drugged her!

The producers looked at the footage an decided it coulda been anyone. She flipped out, and they canned her saying she 'tested poorly with viewers'. I've got no proof, but I'm sure it was him.

Yeah. Cactus Man informs me that you've performed very well under fire. If you wish to continue your amature heroics I wont stop you. But I would ask that you don't go it alone for a while yet. Stick with Cactus Man till he thinks you're ready, that is my advice.
