Dark Knight Begins Mod

Recommended Posts

So I started to create a mod based on the Christopher Nolan universe. That is to say its all based in reality. My main goal is to create a world accurate to what the movies could be, that is to say, only realistic characters will appear. That is to say someone like Killer Croc doesn't make much sense. However, for the sake of argument I could in theory add a character influenced by the name/idea, a super strong former professional wrestler or boxer who was nicknamed Killer Croc who now works as a hired muscle for a villain.

Anyhow, my main problem in creating the data is making it balanced. I'm not great with CBH stats as I havnt played the game much (cant get into the default data) so I would love for someone to maybe help me with the stats aspect of the data.

One way or another since I've put a good deal of work into it, I will release it eventually. Right now my main thing has been attempting to flesh out the data with characters who appeared in the movies, even in a minor scene, and even if its just using a picture of a random person but at least from the movie, although I have made exceptions to this.

I intend to have the data based right after The Joker has blown up Gotham General and after Two-Face has killed Wuert and KOed Ramirez, but before he meets up with Maroni. Mainly done this as it allows the most possible villains to be in the game in my opinion. This also means a character like Bane isnt in Gotham yet.

Here is a readme of sorts of what I've done:

One thing I've done, if you can see, is include most future villains as civilians. They have an "Alternates" profile set to turn them into their villain persona however, but I'm not 100% sure if that works (testing after this post). My main issue is i don't want them to turn into a villain and then revert back to their civilian character. A guide for those who arnt sure who people will be: Quinzell (Harley Quinn), Elliot (Hush), Nigma (The Riddler), Sionis (Black Mask), Tate (Talia al Ghul / Talia Ducard).

So yea, would love some feedback, of potential things to help the data, like people to add and how, and also someone who understands the inner-workings of CBH more to maybe come on board and redo some of the stats to make it work better.

Loving this idea. I've had more success then I had hoped for (and why the change of mood) with the mod I'm working on, by going a little outside the box, and paying more attention to the game engine, rather then what I "figured" would be right. Bassically, I kept as close to the "recommendations" of the Dev's journal, and went into more of a "Players" look into the game, and redid what I felt would be better Ability Maximums. I posted this in another thread, but it might help you out a little, especially when you start testing your database out. Just gonna copy/paste what I wrote. Human Maximums in bold

Human Maximums

Strength 400-This gives more room for lesser powered superheroes, under the 750 jump to major powered super-heroes.

Agility 800 and Reactions 825 These are defensive abilities primarily, and a well trained martial artists has proven they can go head to head with major super-powered villains, by avoiding damage. An example would be Batman vs. Darkseid, where he bassically get's Darkseid to put his attention on him, while ducking and dodging till Superman was able to get back in action.

Toughness 280 This looks incredibly low... but if Darkseid was to actually hit Batman (in the example above), Batman wouldn't have a chance. Keeping in mind that a normal Physical Attack, before modifier's is around 441 damage at level 10 (non-super powered), 280 x 5 = 1400 health. Meaing, you can still withstand quite a bit of damage from any normal attacks. Keep in mind, that an attack of the strongest "normal" humans would be around level 5 normal in my mod, to keep things balanced (more on that in a few).

Recovery 600 This is what was recommended by the Dev's Journal, and I agree with it.

Stamina 656 I have a formula for figuring out how much energy a "maximum level human" would have. Since Energy is used for "other then regular" attacks, this is slightly higher, because a "normal" human doesn't really have "other then regular" attacks, unless they are using weapons that do... In which case they will need back-up. As I said, I have a formula for figuring it out, and it seems to be working like I want (so far).

Endurance 600 Dev's Journal, I have no problem with. I know in the Dev's journal, it was talking about the first four abilities, but it works here.

Reasoning 800 This allows for "Genious" human's, that are on scale with cosmic and very powerful beings, on an intellectual level. Lex Luthor, for example, is capable of understanding Godlike and Alien technology, and has even duplicated quite a bit of it.

Cunning 825 Going with the Reasoning explanation, the thing is that there aren't that many being's that are more cunning then someone like Batman.

Willpower 825 The human will is very strong.

Magical 817 Formulated, All being's in both the DC and Marvel Universe's, have the ability to use magic, if they tap into it... supposedly.

Technology best guess between reasoning and in world resources

The main things that helped out, are the Toughness ability, and Power levels. I know the Toughness looks really small, but it's so much more realistic, and the fights don't take forever, when you have added things like "Battlesuits" and such to it. With Powers, just about anything that would hurt worse then a Human Punch, I went into the Powerful area's with... Like a gunshot, or sword, etc. Makes it more believable to me, as why would someone's punch be even close to doing the damage that a gunshot does?

Now... IF you don't like going higher with powers, as their are attributes that are more resistant, or only resistant to "Normal" type attacks, that would make someone with slight invulnerability seem alot more tougher against "normal" opponants, but I went higher for realistic, and non-lengthy fights.

I'd really like to help out with this, so I've just for fun dug through my Batman Encyclopedia to find some heroes, Villains, anti-heroes, Wild Cards and civillians who could be added to the Nolanverse as they could fit the mold of not bein too supornatural, you can feel free to use it if you want :)

Villains:

Rupert Thorne

Hugo Strange

Garfield Lynns (Firefly, pyromaniac)

Floyd Lawton (Deadshot, hired assasin)

Lady Shiva

David Cain

King

Queen

Jack

Ace

Ten

Fox

Shark

Vulture

Wild Cards:

Red Hood (I think from how Jason Todd acted trying to control crime and seeing is as trying to stop it by crontrolling it that Red Hood should be added as a wild card, he could of course also be added as an anti-hero or just as a pure villain and it doesn't even have to be Jason as Red hood has been used by many criminals, so it could just be some random person)

Anti-Heroes:

Lonnie Machin (Anarky, teenage kid who believes in anarchism, could be considered a hero, but use really violent methods which Batman dislikes, so I put him down as an anti-hero)

Civillians:

Renee Montoya (added to GCPD)

Leslie Thompkins

Harvey Bullock (added to GCPD)

Teams:

Royal Flush Gang (King, Queen, Jack, Ace, Ten)

The Terrible Trio (Fox, Shark, Vulture)
