Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life, Romance

Studio: A-1 Pictures Director: Yasutaka Yamamoto Writer: Taketo Shimoyama Source: Manga by Karino Takatsu

Original Broadcast: July- September 2013 Episodes:13

Synopsis: Determined to bring the Civil Servant to task who allowed her parents to give her an embarrassingly long name (made up of over a dozen first names) due to them being unable to decide on what to call their daughter, Lucy "Rest Ommited" Yamagami has become a civil servant herself, at the Health and Warefare office in Mitsuba*.

Starting along-side her fellow newcomers the flirty and carefree Hasebe and the shy Saya, Lucy soon learns that being a Civil Servant can be a thankless task with the citizens often berating, rather than being thankful of the work carried out by civil servants, but Lucy is determined to do her best for the citizens of Mitsuba.

*Setting: Mitsuba is a fictional city on the Northern Island of Hokkaido.

Recommended Viewing Age: Suitable for most ages- One of her Lucy's often commented upon features are her large breasts, however she keeps them hidden underneath her regular outfit of a black (albeit tight fitting) jumper and they are more there as a comedic talking point, rather than to provide fanservice. In general there is enough suggestiveness here that Servant x Service may not really be suitable for a pre-teen audience but in saying that there is nothing too contentious here either.

Action Level: Virtually Non Existent- Workplace Comedy- It does not take much figuring out from those two words just how much action is going to be in this.

Moe/Kawaii Level: Medium- Whilst I wouldn't necessarily label Servant x Service as a moe show, lead character Lucy does have some traits to be considered a 'moe' character, being socially awkward and clumsy.

Animation Quality/Art Style: The art and animation for Servant x Service is very good in a relatively understated way. The character designs taken as a whole, can very much be thrown in with the generic style that has seemed commonplace for the past few years, but each character design is memorable and striking enough to stick out from the crowd, especially Lucy with her expressive ahoge (cowslick). The workplace environment could have made for drab backgrounds, but they manage to be crisp and vibrant, which helps to get across the generally light hearted mood of the show.

The opening credits sequence, which encompasses a busy day at the office and cleverly incorporated some real life visuals is very impressive and deserves particular mention, and though the animation in the show itself isn't as visually inventive, it does manage to maintain a consistently strong standard.

Music: Opening theme sung 'May I Help You?' sung by the seiyuu for Lucy (Ai Kayano), Saya (Mai Niyoshi) and Megumi (Aki Toyosaki) is a manic number that matches up with the fast paced visuals of the opening credits sequence and also taps into the shows comedic side.

The more understated ending song 'Hachimitsu Doki' which is sung by the three main female seiyuu individually (Ai Kayano episodes 1-4, Mai Nakahara 5-8, Aki Toyasaki 9-12) is there to tap more into the romance element of the show, but is the more forgettable of the two theme songs. The BGM soundtrack is solid, using an array on typically 'comedic' synth based ditties to accentuate the light hearted mood of the show.

Plot and Characters: Servant x Service is one of those shows where the drama is driven by the interactions of the characters, rather than by some over-riding plot. The very thin plot of Lucy trying to find the Civil Servant who allowed her parents to inflict a ridiculousness name on her from birth, is only really brought to the fore at the beginning and towards the end of the series.

What we come to learn about Lucy is that she is a socially awkward book-worm who is pretty much using her unfortunate name as a crutch.

Despite her awkwardness, that hasn't stopped the care-free slacker Yutaka Hasebe from trying to go a date with her and Lucy's hard to get approach, brings out untapped levels of determination in Hasebe, who has been happy to just drift along in life despite being highly capable at anything he does.

Sharing the office with our lead couple, is the soft-spoken Saya who tends to keep her opinions to herself, but we learn that when she does say what she feels her remarks can be rather cutting, the approachable and considerate supervisor Taishi Ichimaya, who keeps the fact that he has a girlfriend hidden from his hot tempered younger sister who constantly visits Taishi at the ward office, the stoic and mildly sadistic temp Chihaya Megumi who cosplays/tailors cosplay outfits in her spare time and is a fan of the fictional maho-shojo series Magical Flowers and finally the section manager Kenzo Momoi, who has a rather unusual appearance and is an old friend and work colleague to Hasebe's father.

Regular supporting characters that come into the story are Mrs Tanaka (an old woman who constantly makes Saya endure her never-ending rambling and wants Saya to marry her grandson), Mrs Tanaka's grandson who happens to be a childhood friend of Hasebe (but one Hasebe has been trying to avoid), Hasebe's sister Kaoru, a fellow civil servant who share's her brother's care-free demeanour and Momoi's daughter Kanon, a high school friend of Ichimaya's sister Toko, who keeps the appearance of her dad a secret from Toko.

From an overiding viewpoint, Servant x Service is built upon a series of running gags (such as Lucy being teased for her name, Hasebe finding places around the building to slack off, Saya having to endure Mrs Tanaka's rants, Megumi trying to get someone to try on one of her cosplay outfits) plus the general interactions and reactions amongst the cast of the show, to the behaviour of their fellow characters. These reactions are often brought out in amusing inner monologues by the characters, as we audience get to see what the characters are really thinking/ want to say at certain (often awkward) moments.

Analysis: A Civil Service Office, does not seem like the most inspiring location for an anime to be set in, but Servant x Service succeeds in bringing it's mundane setting to life and perversely making it seem kind of fun. Anyone who has worked in an office, can recognize various employee archetypes, such as the eager hard working new comer, the capable slacker and the over friendly boss, and the show manages to both encapture the mundane routine of a 9 to 5 office job, whilst also making the Health and Welfare department of Mitsuba, look like the most 'fun' and carefree office, you could ever come across. It is also somewhat refreshing to see a slice of life show, where high schoolers or even college students are not the main protagonists (even if the main protagonists are just fresh out of college and have just begun their journey of paid employment).

But this show isn't really about the setting, nor is it about the A6 Sized plot, it's about the character interaction and the slow burning romance between the two chief protagonists and fellow office newcomers the eager but naive Lucy and the capable but lazy Hasebe. The way that Hasebe has to work to win over Lucy, is done in a realistic and likeable manner and it's refreshing that the relationship is not based upon the over-worn Tsundere/Baka formula.

Sure at first Lucy initially finds Hasebe's desperate flirting and slacker attitude mildly irritating, but it does not take her too long to see beyond the laziness and see that Hasebe is nice, perceptive and intelligent. The fact that Hasebe continually fails to get them to take their relationship beyond friendship, is more to do with Lucy "Rest Ommmited" herself and her own lack of self esteem, which has developed from the ridiculousness name that her parents game her. Not being able to get over her name is a bit silly, but it works as lame excuse for Lucy to be socially awkward an naive.

Servant X Service does manage to tie everything up nicely by the end, both in terms of the Lucy x Hasebe relationship, and Lucy "Rest Ommited" finding the Civil Servant responsible for allowing her parents to register the ridiculously long name, with everything getting tied together with a rather amusing twist. The ending whilst also finding resolution to the leading plot points of the show, also leaves things open enough for a second series without leaving things hanging up in the air so much, that the viewer will feel like they have been left with a frustrating 'read the manga' ending.

The show would not work so well however, without a strong/amusing supporting cast- which thankfully Servant x Service does offer up. The relationship between the supervisor Ichimaya and his tsundere sister Toko, is played delicately enough for it not to annoy but to still be funny and generate genuine laughs. The cosplaying temp Megumi is a complex character, that will both frustrate (well she actually frustrates Hasebe more, as she is determined to be a thorn in his side in his attempts to hook up with Lucy) and amuse the viewer, the soft spoken Saya has some cutting one liners and Hasebe's ex school friend, the competitive but incompetent (in comparison to Hasebe) Jyoji Tanaka manages to further add to the fun fast.

What is especially impressive overall about the cast of characters that inhabit the world of Servant x Service, is the subtle character development each of them has throughout the series, they all begin as a typical comedy archetype but near enough every character, manages to peel off layers and reveal extra dimensions- making them feel realistic, as opposed to a set of caricatures/stereotypes.

The only criticism I can have regarding the cast and the show in general, is the form that the Secton Manager takes (spoiler: Mechanical Stuffed Bunny)- though it does make for some amusing moments, especially with the office staff/his daughter trying to keep his identity hidden from the highly strung Toko Ichimiya, it does take away from the generally realistic/everyday setting of Servant x Service. It's as though the original Mangaka (Karino Takatsu) couldn't resist throwing a bit of un-needed anime weirdness into his mundane setting.

Closing Verdict: Likeable and realistic characters, a delicately handled central romance and consistently amusing comedy, all adds up to Servant X Service being one of the most charming slice of life comedies of recent years.

Genre: Action, Sci-Fi, Ecchi, Romance

Studio: ACGT Director: Takashi Watanabe Writer: Masano Akahoshi Source: Manga by Lim Dall Young

Original Broadcast: January- April 2011 Episodes:12 + (6 OVA shorts)

Synopsis: Earth has been under attack from an alien species called the Nova, and the only hope of defence from the invasion are genetically modified girls known as Pandora, who battle the aliens with their male accomplices known as Limiters.

Kazuya Aoi, has made the decision to come to West Genetics, the same academy that his late sister attended. On arrival he mistakes the Pandora Satelizer El Bridget to be his departed sister. Satelizer happens to be the most powerful Pandora in her year, but is also a social out-cast that has had problems finding a limiter. Despite warnings not to get involved with her, Kazuya is determined to be Satelizer's limiter.

Recommended Viewing Age: Older Teens (approx 16 +) and up: The battle scenes always end up with the girls losing their clothing and exposing their breasts, not only that but most of the battle scenes do end up becoming quite sadistic, with several of the rival Pandora looking to actively humiliate Satelizer, to the point that some of the fights end up looking like a form of sado masochistic sexual assault.

There is also one filler episode (which contains no fights), which is pretty much dedicated to fanservice, though compared to the episodes which did have fighting in them, ended up looking quite tame in comparison.

Action Level: Fairly High- Freezing does contain a lot of girl on girl action (not what you're all thinking!- Though given the amount of breasts that end up being exposed in these fights it may as well head that way), with what end up being some pretty darn violent and sadistic battle scenes.

They do get to battle some giant Evangelion style aliens later on, but much of the show consists of the Pandora fighting amongst themselves trying to prove who the top bitch is, or more specifically Satelizer trying not to get curbstomped.

Moe/Kawaii Level: Fairly Low- More of a fanservicey show, than a moe one. That being said, the main character Satelizer, is beautiful, extremely busty and strong but she is also delicate, social awkward and vulnerable- she is at the same time both the strongest and weakest character in the show- which does give her some degree of 'moe' appeal.

Animation Quality/Art Style: There's nothing particularly original or outstanding about the character designs (typical Bishojo stuff) or background art, but it's competently done and the animation quality is generally pretty good, with some good looking (albeit fanservice heavy) fight scenes. All in all the art and animation here isn't going to blow anyway away but it's decent enough for a post 2010 anime.

Music: The opening and ending themes are both really catchy, and are one of the series strongest points. Opening song Color by MARiA is a rock tinged J-Pop song that suits the mood of the series, whilst closing song Kimi O Marotai by Aika Kobayashi , has more electronica based but is incredibly infectious.

Plot and Characters: The shows central characters are Kazuya Aoi, the younger brother of a super powerful Pandora (Kazuha Aoi- the parents must have had real imagination when it comes to naming their offspring!) who lost her life in a battle with the Pandora and Satelizer El Bridget, the number one ranked Pandora in her year but a social outcast, who has the nickname of the 'Untouchable Queen'

Satelizer gets her nickname, because she does not like to be touched by boys (something which does get explained for in a flashback), which causes problems in her choosing a Limiter. However when Kazuya mistakes her for his sister, she responds differently to his touch (which catches her off guard and causes her to lose a battle against another Pandora and thus lose her number one ranking). Though a strong fighter, Satelizer is at a disadvantage by not having a Limiter by her side, whose role see's them create a zone (known as a Freezing) where their Pandora is free to go on the offensive, without having to worry about defending themselves.

Much of the series sees several rival Pandora, trying to take down/humiliate Satelizer, which range from a rival in her year (Ganessa), a third year student who is a stickler for order (Ingrid), a few more third year bullies (which include a manipulative loli called Attia) and a foreign exchange student from Tibet Rana Linchen, who has set her sights on being Kazuya's Pandora (though is the only 'rival' that just wants to competitvely better Satelizer and not humiliate her). Kazuya takes offence to the way things are done at West Genetics, and consistently tries to help Satelizer during her battles (even if she is often reluctant for her help), eventually Kazuya's kindness see's Satelizer open up to him and consider the possibility that he might actually be worthy of he being her Limiter.

Later on West Genetics and their sister facility, the equally imaginitively titled East Genetics come under attack from the Nova, and the Pandora who were 'training' for this day by beating each other up, have to unite against the real threat, what we also come to learn during the real battle is that being a Pandora is a double edged sword and that they are not all that different from the aliens they have been genetically modified to battle against.

Analysis: Freezing initially sets itself up as an apocalyptic alien invasion show in the vein of Evangelion, before turning into a fanservice heavy beat-em up and then actually remembering the original premise in the final third.

The idea for the show isn't all that bad, if a little clunky but the execution leaves a lot to be desired, most notably with the characters. The main problem I have with Freezing is that you have these girls who are supposed to be on the same side, all trying to beat the crap out of the girl they know in their hearts is stronger and better than them, mostly for completely irrational and selfish reasons. Only the transfer student Rana, came across as remotely likeable, and the real kicker is that Satelizer has to team up with these annoying bitches near the end in order to stop the alien invasion.

I wouldn't have a problem with the rival Pandora being mean and nasty, if they were meant to be the primary villains but the fact is at some point the viewer is supposed to care about/support these characters when it comes to them battling against the real big bad, the Nova- who to be honest just come across as being faceless/emotionless alien invaders and actually less annoying than the majority of the Pandora. The apparent bad guys are supposed to get under your skin more than the apparent good guys, not the other way round!

I'm not someone that is easily offended, but the fights between Satelizer and the other Pandora, often end up having quite a nasty sadistic edge to them, this wouldn't be so bad if every fight did not end up with the girls clothes being ripped to shreds to the point that they may as well started the fight out naked to begin with. The main problem here is that Freezing wants to be dark and edgy but you can never take dark and edgy that seriously with a generic bishojo based art style and sleazy ecchi levels of fanservice- in comparison the similar(ish)Sekirei at least had the self awareness to recognise exactly what it is.

Saying all that Freezing isn't completely bad, and actually does get better once they have to fight the Nova, rather than amongst themselves, even if we never really find out what exactly the Nova are and why they are invading, and doing a rather terrible job of making us not care whether or not the majority of the Pandora survive or not, in fact given some of their attitudes earlier in the series I could not care less if they survived or not.

The only good thing to come out of Satelizer being curb-stomped by rival Pandora, is that it perversely helped you care about the character more and willed her on to succeed in the face of adversity, but saying that she was a pretty strong character to begin with and ends up being the glue that just holds Freezing together. Her strong willed determination juxtaposes with her awkwardness and naivety, and it makes for an interesting and complex character, meanwhile Kazuya is your typical bland (albeit ridiculously superpowered) male lead, but he's in offensive and serves his purpose of being the kind hearted boy, who manages to get Satelizer to open up emotionally.

Despite the often sadistic edge the battles themselves are admittedly quite exciting and well choreographed, and though certain techniques get used in every fight, each Pandora does manage to display a unique fight style all to their own.

The end leaves you on a cliff-hanger, with a couple of mysterious new characters showing up. Now this would have been very frustrating if there was to be on follow up, but it turns out there was a sequel Freezing Vibration that aired last year, so we cut the series some slack there. Also despite my criticisms for Freezing, it did feel like it had some untapped potential near the end, and perhaps the sequel series will build upon that.

Closing Verdict: Freezing is a curious mix of fighting fanservice and apocalyptic alien invasion. Despite having a strong and likeable central character in place, it lets itself down with an unlikeable supporting cast and the fact that dark, edgy and sadistic with sleazy fanservice just don't quite mix.

Mediocre

Is the Dub Any Good?: Funimation did the dub for this, and whilst it's OK, it's not one of their stronger efforts. A big part of this is down to some questionable casting decisions- the most notable one that comes to mind being the casting of Jamie Marchi as Rana. Whilst Rana does have a degree of the sassiness that Marchi has specialized in making her area of expertize when it comes to anime dubs, Rana also has a formal edge to her than Marchi ends up struggling with.

I put it in the D Grade range (mediocre) but it looks like you would place it in the E Grade range (poor). Usually I would say give something a chance past one episode, but in all honesty you've made a pretty good judgement call there. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Odd thing is, I've actually seen some positive opinion for Freezing on My Anime List etc, and I even found a professional review that gave it a B- <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />.

I can only come to the conclusion, that they weren't watching what I was watching!

I just finished watching Madoka Magica. Really NOT what I was expecting. The opening is a lying liar! It's not cute a cuddly! Aside from that, I really enjoyed it, in that masochistic deconstructive way I enjoy dark anime. More than a few teary eyed moments. The pacing is good, building up that sense of dread and doom slowly with a few OMG moments when major points are revealed and it becomes obvious it can only get worse.

Maybe I don't want to be a magical girl after all....

This anime carries the All Purpose Cultural Goth Girl Miko seal of approval.

One thing I liked about the show was that it always managed to defy my expections, I can´t count the times I thought I know were the story was going and I wasn´t right even once. Plenty of suprises and interesting plot twists and most of the main characters got fleshed out pretty well considering that it was only 12 episodes long.

Genre: Slice of Life, Supernatural

Studio: Diomedea Director: Shin Misawa Writer: Hiroshi Yamaguchi Source: Manga by Sayori Ochiai

Original Broadcast: October- December 2013 Episodes:12

Synopsis: Makoto Saeki, lives with her father Tatsuo (a shrine priest) at a Shinto Inari shrine, dedicated to the god of agriculture Ukanomitama. Her mother passed away when she was 4, and since that day she inherited the gift known as The Sight, which enables her to see the shrines heralds.

The shrine's herald is Gintaro, a large but lazy fox that has protected the shrine for 15 generations of the Saeki family. Though often grouchy and unmotivated, Makoto manages to strike up a bond with Gintaro, and often turns to him for help of advice.

Recommended Viewing Age: 12 and up- Gingitsune, features absolutely no fan service- to the point that the girls school uniform does not have the skirts hiked up to mini-skirt size (though this is something lampshaded by the student council president, who bemoans the schools old fashioned uniform), whilst there is absolutely no violence.

I would say that though there is nothing objectionable here for pre-teens, this series is really recommended for teenagers and up, due to a few situations that require a little more maturity to grasp fully, which include implied bullying and Satoru's difficult family situation.

Action Level: Low- Gingistune is a a slice of life series, with a dash of supernatural thrown into a mix, those expecting anything at all in the way of action will be left sorely disappointed.

Moe/Kawaii Level: Fairly High- Makoto is a generally cheerful girl, who occasionally gets over emotional, add to the fact that her character design is one of generic 'moe blob' and one cannot deny that Gingitsune is at least a little bit 'moe'.

Animation Quality/Art Style: Whilst I wouldn't call the art and animation for Gingitsune astounding, it is to a good level for modern day anime. The human character designs are a bit generic, though the Heralds that are often mostly white in color, are a little more striking.

The background art is quite detailed and attractively colored, whilst the animation ran without any noticeable glitches, though that should be expected for a series that has little in the way of stand out action sequences.

Music: Opening song 'Tiny Lamp' by fhana, is about as generic and uninspiring as any anime opening I have heard for any series. It's not terrible, but it's just paint by numbers J-Pop, which does absolutely nothing to represent the show. Closer 'Gekkou Story' by SCREEN Mode, fares little better, in the fact that's it's a bog standard earnest ballad.

Thankfully the woodwind heavy soundtrack, does a much better job of tapping into and enhancing the soothing mood that permeates throughout Gingitsune.

Plot and Characters: Though in essence Gingitsune revolves around Makoto (who has inherited the ability to see and interact with heralds), often the individual episodes are more about the friends and acquaintances she attempts to help, with the aid of the Herald at her shrine, the fox spirit Gintaro.

Gintaro has the ability to conjure up short glimpses into the future, and track down lost objects. He is surly, lazy and often appears to be in uninterested in the affairs of Makoto and other humans, though deep he actually cares a lot for Makoto, and his attitude which could be misinterpreted as flippant, is more there as a form of 'tough love' to make Makoto work things out for herself, rather than be reliant on the easy fix of asking for Gintaro's help.

Part way through the series, the Saeki's welcome in a boy from another shrine Satoru Kamio. Like Saeki, Satoru has inherited 'the sight' and is the successor to the Saeki Shrine. However Satoru has taken the decision to move away from the shrine, after being emotionally mistreated by relatives that raised him following the death of both his parents and his grandfather. Satoru comes to the Saeki shrine and to Makoto's new school, as a somewhat defensive boy unable to open up to others. Satoru, isn't the only one to come to the shrine, his herald another fox spirit known as Haru, who has become very attached to Satoru to the point that she becomes very jealous when Satoru receives attention from girls.

Makoto also befriends a pair of girls, initially opposed to one another, Yumi Ikegami and the vice student council president Hiwako Funabashi. Hiwako who is a daughter of a politician, appears to be cold and stuck up to the other students (something cultivated by her strict up bringing), but after befriending Makoto and Yumi, she appears she losens up and learns to live life a bit more freely. Yumi is a popular girl, whose slack attitude to school initially puts her at odds with Hiwako- however when her entourage of 'friends' aggressively approach Hiwako, she comes to her rival's aid.

The herald's tend to provide more of the series quirkier characters and moments, from the tangerine loving lazy and surly Gintaro and the tsundere like Haru to a pair of cheeky monkey spirits that love practical jokes and a pair of sleepy Lion Dog heralds that make Gintaro look energetic in comparison.

Though there is no real over-arching plot, Gingitsune presents a general theme throughout it's interlocking individual stories, of the importance of true friendship. This certainly permeates with the two characters that have the most character development in Satoru and Hiwako.

Analysis: Gingitsune is a series that appears to idle along aimlessly with no real plot, features little in the way of dramatic conflict, has no action and is not especially funny either. With all that taken into consideration, it hardly has the ingredients to be the most interesting or dynamic of anime series, in fact one would say it has all the ingredients in place to bore the pants off it's viewers.....

However Gingitsune actually ends up being a sweetly enjoyable slice of life series (albeit one with a supernatural twist), sure nothing much happens but it's relaxed mood and subtle drama puts a smile on your face and provides a welcome antidote to more intense series.

Gingitsune, might not have much in the way of intense conflict or action, but that does not mean that the series has nothing to say or that nothing develops. The development of both Satoru and Hiwako, is paced realistically, in the fact that it does not take either of them to suddenly go from introverted to out going and even by the end of the series, they remain the series most introverted characters by comparison.

Though the series central character Makoto, can often get overshadowed by the supporting cast, she does have her own development. that subtly builds from the start. This mostly emerges in a couple of conversations, where Makoto realises that her herald Gintaro will out live her, and makes here realise just how short a human's life is in comparison to the spirits she communicates with. These conversations subtly shift the show into a more sombre mood, but never become overly melodramatic.

A fine example of where Gingitsune's subtle approach, works well is an episode where Hiwako's driver takes the girls to a shopping mall, he can't help but notice Hiwako's development into an attractive woman, but he knows it would be wrong to fall in love with her becauses is his bosses daughter and he is ten years older than her. It's actually when Gingitsune tries to inject in a bit of more obvious melodrama, that the series finds itself in at a weakest, there are a couple of episodes where Makoto and Satoru fall out with their respective Heralds, and these moments come off as forced, especially in comparison to the generally more understated approach used throughout the majority of the series.

Gingitsune central theme of friendship and community, is handled in a touching but non saccharine manner, but it's with it's handling of the role that Shintoism and it's traditions still has to play in modern society, where it truly impresses in presenting the central themes of the story.

Gingitsune, addresses the fact that with modernism and westernization, the Shinto religion and the old ways of Japan are gradually fading away, but it does not approach this realisation in a preachy manner. By the end rather than whingeing about how Japan has changed, it instead ends up focusing on the role Shintoism can still play in these rapidly changing modern times and how a visit to a Shinto shrine can bring a community together, something that is highlighted in the final episode (where a ceremony known as the summer cleansing takes place), which brings all the characters together- not because they have been forced to attend the ceremony, but because their bonds and friendship has bought them together.

One minor fault of the series, is with Gintaro's own story. It introduces the fact that each shrine, there are usually two heralds over seeing the shrine. However Gintaro's partner departed from the shrine a long time ago, we never get to know the reason why and we never get to know why there should be two heralds. It's something that doesn't end up derailing the show, but it's always a little bit irritating when something is introduced that seems important to the show but ends up being inconsequential.

Closing Verdict: Gingitsune is a series where not a lot happens, to the point that no matter it's charms some people will doubtlessly find the series to be aimless and boring. However those who do not demand their anime to be chocked full of fast paced and/or intense action or drama, should be taken in by Gingistune's understated charms.

Mildly Recommended

Is the Dub Any Good?: Sentai Filmworks have acquired the North American license for the series, but thus far no English dub has been produced.

I like Gingitsune for the fact that there's no overarching plot as you mentioned in the review. It's simple, the characters personality match their experiences (Satoru being a defensive but friendly person instead of an emo), and the lack of action kept the characters from going through extreme over-dramatic drama. The characters are realistic enough and the supernatural stuff doesn't drive the show as much as you expect a giant fox spirit would do. I would like to know more about the other fox spirit that left but it's understandable that a centuries old spirit wouldn't just reveal all his feelings to a young 15-16 years girl no matter how much he cares about her.

I really like the OP and ED for Freezing but thought the show itself was mediocre, whilst in comparison I found Gingitsune to be a more charming and enjoyable show (though admittedly comparing these shows is like apples and oranges) but the OP and ED were 'meh' to me.

Though saying that in all honesty, I think the OP and ED for Freezing, probably spiked it up to a D+ for me, from just a flat D. I suppose what it boils down to is that the songs at least enhanced my enjoyment of Freezing just a little bit. So whilst I don't think a mediocre, forgettable or even bad OP and/or ED can ruin a show, a good one can enhance the enjoyment of a show every so slightly.

Before I post up the next review, feel free to share your own thoughts on the importance (or not) of the Opening and Ending songs in anime.

I checked out Tonari No Seki-Kun on Crunchyroll, due to Rickymex posting up the delightful OP and ED songs.

I'm not usually one for watching series whilst they are still streaming, nor do I really find myself drawn towards series with short episode lengths, but I'm really glad I checked this one out, as it's absolutely hilarious and quickly becoming one of my favourite comedy anime <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Full review will be posted up once series has reached completion, but going on what's shown thus far, I would say it should earn at the minimum a B Rating from me.

Genre: Supernatural, Action, Romance

Studio: J.C Staff Director: Chiaki Kon Writer: Mari Okada Source: Manga by Lily Hoshino

Original Broadcast: October- December 2010 Episodes:13

Setting: Otome Yōkai Zakuro takes place during an alternate version of Meiji Restoration era Japan, at the beginning of the 20th Century, where Human's co-exist with yōkai (spirits), however during the Westernization of Japan during this period, relationships between the two races have become strained.

Synopsis: With growing unrest between the human's and yōkai, during a period where Japan are converting to western practices, the Ministry of Spirit Affairs, has been set up in order to maintain harmony between the two races. Establishing both human and spirit representatives, Lieutenants Kei Agemaki, Riken Yoshinokazura and Ganryu Hanakiri find themselves partnered with half spirit girls Zakuro, Susukihotaru and the twins Bonbori and Hozuki.

However the strenuos relationship is highlighted by the fact that Zakuro, cannot stand the western/jesuit practices that are being adopted all over Japan, whilst Agemaki has a fear of spirits. Zakuro and Agemaki must learn to trust one another, not just in order to maintain a good relationship between humans and yōkai, but to also fend off a much more sinister threat lurking the shadows.

Recommended Viewing Age: Approx 15 plus- There is not much actually in the way of fanservice here, the only characters that come to mind are the big breasted Aya Oritaka (a minor character that appears in about two episodes) but we see little more than cleavage, whilst the antagonistic spirit Rangui (aka the Black Widow) who has a rather vampish appearance in her human form.

However a fair amount of bloody violence and implications of unsavoury adult situations (such as the implied attempted rape of a hynotized girl), means that 'Zakuro' is not really a suitable series for younger audiences.

Action Level: Fairly High- 'Zakuro's' supernatural elements are brought to the fore during it's action sequences where the titular character and her fellow cohorts from the Ministry of Spirit Affairs, do battle with a variety of spirits, one of which takes the form of a giant spider. Whilst the men sabre like swords, Zakuro's weapon of choice reflects the shojo influenced nature of this series, with a cherry blossom twig that magically turns into a dagger, whilst the other spirit girls, just wave around sakura (cherry blossom) branches of their own during combat. As girly as this all sounds, the fights to become quite intense and are in fact quite action packed, especially during the series finale.

Moe/Kawaii Level: Fairly High- The fox eared half spirit girls are admittedly quite 'moe, especially the shy Susukihotaru. But 'Zakuro's' most adorably cute characters are quite possibly also it's ugliest, the pumpkin headed spirits Sakura and Kiri, might look freaky but their innocent and playful demeanour makes them absolutely adorable.

Animation Quality/Art Style: There is little doubting that 'Zakuro' has the feminine touch (both the original mangaka and the director/writer team for the anime are all women), due to the typically shojo style character designs, with arguably more effort given to making the Bishonen male characters looking more alluring than their female counterparts, who with their rounded eye appearance look more pretty in an approachable cute way, more than a tempting way. The generally soft pastel hues used in the colour palette, also add a delicate touch that bring the more romantic elements of 'Zakuro's plot to the fore-front.

Whilst the shojo like feel to the character designs and general animation might not be everyone's cup of tea (I bring this up because this is a series that melds together both Shojo and Shonen elements), one cannot deny that the quality of the background art, which really brings to life the atmosphere of it's Meiji Restoration period setting.

Music: Opening song 'Moon Signal' by sphere is a fairly generic slice of mildly rocking J-Pop, it's not the most memorable song but does at least capture the more energetic/action packed moments of the story.

The ending song's see a revolving door of three duets, between the seiyuu for each pairing, this includes the catchy and playful Hatsukoi Wa Zakuro by Mai Nakahara (Zakuro)/Takahiro Sakurai (Agemaki), Junjou Masquerade (which shares similar qualities to the first ending, but is different enough to stand out by it's own right) by Aki Toyosaki (Bonbori), Yui Horie (Hozuki) and Yuki Kaji (Ganryu) and finally the gentle romantic ballad Futari Shizuka by Kana Hanzawa (Susukihotaru) and Satoshi Hino (Riken). Having the alternating endings in particular and Futari Shizuka in particular captures the mood of Susukihotaru/Riken's understated relationship.

The centre piece of the OST soundtrack, is the memorable and bewitching Benibana no Otome Uta- using traditonal Japanese instrumentation this battle song, really captures the essence of Zakuro and the other Half Spirit girls, encompassing both a playful and ominous vibe.

Plot and Characters: The first thing to notice, is that 'Zakuro' presents you with a world, where there are tensions between those who want to traditional native customs (in this case primarily the yōkai/half spirits) and those embracing the changes taking place (the westernizing humans). This obviously leads to tension between the two groups, with many of the spirit beings feeling marginalized, whilst many of the westernizing humans could not care less about the traditions of old japan and feel that the spirits should just move aside for change.

The early part of the series very much runs with a case of the format, where the spirit affairs teams have to deal with a troublesome yōkai, whilst trying to find the best solution to appease both parties. The latter part of the series see's more vengeful and bitter half spirits and yōkai come to the fore that are part of a cult like group, that seem intent on capturing Zakuro. As the story evolves we learn that Zakuro is no ordinary half spirit and that the mysterious leader of this group has strong connections to Zakuro.

Holding the plot together throughout, of course it the relationships between the Military Lieutentants and their Half Spirit companions. The series core partnership, unsurprisingly features the titular character, a tsundere who is the most set against the westernization taking place during Japan, so of course she would have to be paired up with her absolute opposite in Agemaki, whose aversion to spirits, makes him look weak and stupid in the eyes of Zakuro.

However as the story progresses, these two learn to trust one another and grow stronger together. The extremity of Zakuro's viewpoint of course can be understood from the fact that half spirits like herself are treated like second class citizens by much of the human population, whilst Agemaki's weariness towards spirits has been cultivated by his own up bringing. Also provding a wedge between Zakuro and Agemaki's relationship is fellow Military Lieutenant Takatoshi Hanadate, whose more pro-active nature earns him rare admiration towards a human from Zakuro.

Taking the place of the beta couple, is the shy and timid Susukihotaru and the stoic Riken. Whilst the Zakuro x Agemaki relationship, places Agemaki more in the position of being afraid of their own partner, in this case it's the half spirit Susukihotaru who plays the part of the 'weaker' party. However Susukihotaru and Riken, gradually grow their bond together and learn to trust one another- their relationship throughout remains one of few words but (especially following an episode that focuses on Susukihotaru's abilities) their partnership eventually becomes the most solid.

The third partnership, or rather trio see's the young and proud Ganryu, team up with the twins Bonbori and Hozuki, whose flirty behavior sometimes makes Ganryu ill at ease. Whilst this relationship often finds itself in the role of comic relief, the three do grow fond of one another, and the chivalrous Ganryu has his own issues about feeling over-reliant on the Half Spirits helping to protect him, other than the other way round.

Whilst the human/half spirit partnerships make up the primary characters, the Ministry of Spirit affairs is in fact run by a pair of yōkai, the fox spirit Kushimatsu, who is the one responsible for bringing the half spirit girls into spirit affairs and the elephant like Amaryojou. Kushimatsu is very protective of the girls and is even prepared to go against them (especially Zakuro) if it means protecting them from danger, but Amaryojou often feels that Kushimatsu should not interfere.

Light relief comes in the form of Agemaki's relationship towards the spirits, including the harmless/playful aritifcat spirits the rabbit like Mamezo and the pumpkin headed Sakura and Kiri. These spirits immediately take a shine towards Agemaki and consistently want to play with him, but it takes the spirit weary Agemaki a little time to come round. Whilst further light relief is provided by the Ganryu-Bonbori-Hozuki trio, with the twins playful/teasing personality. Of course as the series progresses and becomes more darker towards it's conclusion, the more comedic elements of 'Zakuro' takes a backseat.

Analysis: Otome Yōkai Zakuro is one of a growing number of series that cross demographic boundaries, the soft pastel hued art style, Bishonen male leads and slow burning romance driven plot would certainly place this more in the shōjo category, but the supernatural (and at times violent and bloody) action would certainly lend itself to appeal more to a shōnen/seinen (hard to tell when the other ends, and the other starts to be honest) audience.

For the most part 'Zakuro' does a pretty job of blending together it's elements, and whilst the art style may be a stumbling block for some of the male demographic they are trying to capture, it is done well and actually becomes a strength, helping the series to look a little more unique compared to more generic looking series. In fact I will go as far to say that this is one of J.C Staff's best looking series of recent years.

Whilst the series very much starts out with a monster of the week type format, it's underlying theme of tensions during a period of change keeps things interesting, whilst the central relationships between the military lieutenants and their half spirit partners are well balanced enough between tense drama and amusing comedy.

However it has to be said that whilst the series doesn't fall off a cliff in the second half, it does disappointingly dissolve into a hokey plot involving a cult like village and a primary antagonist, that anyone can see coming from a mile off. It remains entertaining throughout, but 'Zakuro' ends up veering off into a path of cliches, rather than continue on the path off moulding together something that feels original and actually has something to say, rather than merely shooting for enjoyable but disposable entertainment.

As much as the finely tuned balance between comedy and drama can be praised it probably ends up being the series achiles heel, preventing it from going down the road of exploring the potential social commentary involving the tensions between the humans and spirits, and instead settling for the safer, fan appeasing route of cliched fantasy tropes. Whilst there's nothing particularly wrong with that per se, and 'Zakuro' doesn't necessarily execute these cliches badly, it never really builds upon the intriguing promise of it's situation, laid down during it's early episodes.

As for the romantic elements that bind the series together, Zakuro and Agemaki, are not the worst tsundere based relationship, I have witnessed in anime, her stubborness towards Agemaki, does grow a little grating after a while, and the more quiet/demure relationship between Susukihotaru and Riken actually becomes the more charming and captivating throughout the series.

Closing Verdict: Otome Yōkai Zakuro blends together an enticing mix of action, romance and comedy within a relatively original setting (Meiji era Japan), but the series leaves you with the feeling that it could have ended up being an even better series, that failed to fully deliver on it's potential.

In the end it's decision to target both male and female demographics, and balance between light and dark, means that 'Zakuro' ends up being an enjoyable, well balanced series but it's lack of sharply pinned focus prevents it from reaching the next level.

Mildly Recommended

Is the Dub Any Good?: NIS America acquired the U.S license for this, and seeing that they rarely do dubs, there is unsurpisingly no dub for this series.

I started Otome Yōkai Zakuro today after reading the review. I'm on episode 5 and I'm really liking it. The Westernization cultural aspect is always interesting to me and the more subtle/slower take on the romance makes it easier to get into. Plus none of the tsundere violence on good guy lead makes the girl more likeable.

What I'm especially enjoying is the Beta couple of Stoic guy and empathy girl (can't remember names for shit) as their relationship seems very natural and provides a great contrast to the more friendly relationship between the leads. Their relationship is very deep and emotional yet private which makes sense considering she can read his feeling and he is "a man of few words" as he calls himself.

I just got done binging on Golden Time off of Crunchyroll.com. Even being 40 i can't help but be a big old sentimental baby. Bah. Good show, ended well. Slice of life show, lots of drama and weirdness. Same stuff i won't watch as a live action piece on the WB!.

Time to re watch My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU so i can get my angst back. Though i do really like that one too.

Anyway, Great stuff Tigerkinney, reading the reviews and trying to watch when i can, stupid internet provider is making me have to get comcast to watch stuff. Life is such a pain.

Studio: J.C Staff Director: Kenichi Kasai/ Noriaki Atikaya Writer: Reiko Yoshida Source: Manga by Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata

Original Broadcast: October 2010- April 2011 Episodes: 25

Synopsis : Junior High school student Moritaka Mashiro, is a talented artist but he seems content to drift through life without no clear goal in mind, spending his time in class sketching drawings of Miho Azuki, the girl he has a crush on.

One day Mashiro leaves his notebook behind, only to find that when he returns to the class room Akita Takagi has taken hold of it. With ambitions of becoming a manga writer, Takagi agrees to return the notebook to Mashiro, only if he agrees to team up with him and make a manga together!

Recommended Viewing Age: Approx 11 and Up- Very little in the way of objectionable content here, though very mild sexualized references such as Takagi, commenting on Kaya's ample bosom and some brief references towards Mashiro's uncle possibly committing suicide just keeps Bakuman away from being suitable for most pre-teens.

Action Level: Non Existent- Despite Bakuman tapping into typical shonen tropes, such as being determined to reach your goal and over-coming great odds...this is after all a story about writing manga, so suffice to say our heroes don't get into any epic fights or go on massive car chases etc.

Moe/Kawaii Level: Low- Bakuman has a relatively realistic style and vibe to it, with none of the characters (even the shy Azuki) coming off as being written to be overtly cute or moe.

Animation Quality/Art Style: Perhaps it's because there are no flashy action sequences, or unique animation techniques or artistic flourishes, that at first glance Bakuman is one of those series that does not seem to be all that strikingly special when it comes to the art and animation side of things, but when you delve deeper you will see that there is some real attention to detail, especially with the manga/manga magazines lying around the Shonen Jack (aka Shonen Jump) offices or Ashirogi Muto's (the pen name of our protagonist duo) studio- it's certainly fun spotting all the references to popular real life manga.

The manga for Bakuman, was written by the same manga team behind Death Note, and much like the adaptation for that series, the character designs stay true to the relatively realistic style favoured by them, something that suits the contemporary slice of life setting of the series.

With a few duff exceptions (the Azuki mother, has a really bad hairstyle that seems out of keeping with her character which comprises of a fringe and ringlets), most of the characters are well designed and manage to stand out amongst one another.

Music: Opening song 'Bluebird' by Kobukuro, is a smaltzy, cheesy ballad, complete with a few moments of truly dreadful Engrish moments- though it does tap into the very cheesy romance that motivates one of the main protagonists, it was so cheesy it had me reaching for the skip button on my remote control.

The more energetic pop rock of 'Baku-rock' by Ya Kyim and then 'Genjitsu to iu Na no Kaibutsu to Tatakau Mono Tachi' by Yu Takahashi, did at least make for more enjoyable ending songs, though perhaps didn't necessarily connect with a certain element of the story, as much as the opening did, though they are more in keeping with the generally energetic and lightly rocking BGM soundtrack, but a soundtrack varied and adaptable enough to ebb and flow with the various emotions of the characters and the twists and turns of their journey to become successful mangaka.

Plot and Characters: he driving force behind the plot for Bakuman is the duo of 'Ashirogi Muto' trying to get a serialized Manga and then an anime adaptation before they turn 18. Though it is Takagi who originally ignites the dream, Mashiro has extra motivation from the fact that the girl he wants to be with Azuki, has a dream of becoming an seiyuu (voice actress), however the two would be lovers have vowed not to consummate their love (to the point they won't even talk to one another) until they have achieved their goals.

Mashiro comes from a background, where his uncle was a semi successful mangaka but ended up dying early (possibly due to being overworked). Deep down Mashiro always wanted to follow in his uncle's footsteps, but always felt wary of doing so (due to his Uncle's early death) but Takagi re-ignted the spark within, and inspired Mashiro to follow the path he has always wanted to.

Takagi is a straight A student, but has no desire to apply his intellect to a 'sensible' office job (Takagi's backstory does show some motivation beyond rebelling against what is simply expected of him) and being an excellent creative writer, does not feel why pursuing a career as Manga writer should be seen as an overly idealistic dream. He knows he's taking a risk, he knows it might not pay off but he's willing to take the gamble, instead of settling for a life of mediocrity. Takagi can't really draw however and that is why he wants a talented artist like Mashiro to team up with him.

Tensions do occur between the duo, regarding motivation, particularly when it comes to being sidetracked by romance. Takagi becomes close to Azuki's best friend, the lively Kaya, whose well meaning intentions to try and get Azuki and Mashiro closer, often backfire.

Though the romance element does at least tie into the motivations of the main characters (particularly Mashiro), the series is primarily about the protagonists progress as manga writers. Under the guidance of their editor Akira Hattori, the duo overcome various hurdles along the way, from simply getting a manga into Shonen Jack , to entering competitions and getting the approval ratings to earn their own series. Hattori see's great potential in the duo, even from the start but sometimes clashes with 'Muto Ashirogi' in regards to the direction they want to take and with their impatience to get a fully serialized manga before they finish high school.

'Muto Ashirogi' also find themselves in a rivarly with other mangaka, though this primarily develops into a friendly rivarly, where the mangaka want to push one another on to do better, but still want to be the one's to reach their goals/stay on top.

These fellow mangaka, include the teen genius Eiji Nizuma, who is several components short of a bento box but has is a gifted artist and has incredible perception about what makes a successful manga, Shinta Fukuda whose sometimes brash attitude sometimes hides the fact that despite being very competitive, he is always willing to stand up for all mangaka being judged fairly on their talent, Takuro Nakai a long time assistant in his thirties, who has yet to have his own series commissioned and the slightly aloof Ko Aoki, a university aged female mangaka who has recently switched to trying her hand at Shonen manga, having previously written for Shojo magazines.

As well as the dynamic between 'Muto Ashirogi' and their editor Hattori, we also witness the dynamic involved between the rival mangaka and other editors such as Yujiro, who is both Eiji and Fukuda's editor (having problems keeping the eccentric teen in line, and often clashing with the other), and along with that we get to see the friendly competition between the editors, who want to see their mangaka get/stay published and the processes/meetings involved between the decision makers at Shonen Jack as to why a manga will get/stay published in their magazine.

Analysis: A series about two teenage boys, striving to become successful manga writers before they finish high school, does not necessarily sound like the most exciting or dynamic of anime series on paper, but Bakuman ending up being a truly facisnating series, with you the viewer willing 'Muto Ashirogi' on to achieve their goal. Each rejection, each triumph, each little goal being reached as a step towards their main goal, becomes just as thrilling as any fight based shonen anime. Where Bakuman truly succeeds in combining the simple dynamics of a Shonen series (overcoming impossible odds, growing stronger) with the intelligence of a Seinen.

Sure the whole premise of our two protagonists, starting out as a pair of middle school boys, daring to dream about being a successful manga writing team, and then pushing for a fully serialized manga by the time they are in high school, is rather far fetched but aren't most stories, and their journey in Bakuman is done in such a way, that you often forget how ridiculous the premise is.

The manga for Bakuman, was written by the same duo behind the hugely successful Death Note, a series that of course works within a completely different genre to Bakuman, yet both series share the same ability to keep you on the edge of your seat and mix the energy of a shonen story, with the depth more typically found in works aimed at the seinen demographic.

Though admittedly I am giving my opinion on the anime, the adaptation appears to have at least kept relatively faithful to the source material, where a successful manga writing team are opening insights into what it takes to succeed within the manga industry.

It's those insights into the manga industry, and the decisions that manga writers take in order to be successful, that provide Bakuman's most fascinating components. What it truly gets across to the viewer, is that being a Mangaka is a fun career but it's also a tough one, with only a select few not just being successful at it, but also being able to maintain success.

The progression of 'Muto Ashirogi's own manga writing abilities and the personal decisions they take along the way to reach their goal, is equally compelling, as we see the protagonist duo try out a variety of genres, from shonen fighting manga to detective stories via sci-fi.

Providing fantastic support to the protagonists, are the 'rival' mangaka and the editors/decision makers at Shonen Jack (aka Shonen Jump), the eccentric Eiji is particularly fantastic- he gets some getting used to but he's pretty much Bakuman's equivalent of L from Death Note (including the way he tends to sit, an obvious shout-out to Ohba's previous creation).

As good as Bakuman is at getting across what it takes to become a successful mangaka, and providing real insight into the manga industry, unfortunately it fails at the other element of the story, which provides a major motivation for one of the characters, and that's the central romance....

Or should I say 'nomance', because Moritaka Mashiro and Miho Azuki, are one of the most frustrating 'couples' in the history of anime. This painfully shy duo, take the whole 'we'll wait for one another' idea to ridiculous levels....how these two think their relationship is going to last, when they've barely spoken a word to one another since elementary school is beyond comprehension.

One particular scene, involving a phone call between the two, made me really dislike Azuki (though to her credit she realises afterwards, she should have handled things better) and the whole relationship makes you wish their closest friends, would tell them to actually get together or stop wasting each other's time. Takagi and Kaya do at least call Mashiro and Azuki out on their relationship being odd, and it's the only saving grace towards how this travesty of a 'nomance' is handled, though Kaya comes across as interfering at times and Takagi doesn't want to push Mashiro too hard on his kindergarten level romance, because he has his heart set on teaming up with Mashiro.

I understand why they threw the romance element into the story, it provides extra motivation for Mashiro to reach his goals within a certain time frame and provides some dramatic tension with Takagi (who despite being the one to suggest the idea in the first place, eventually becomes the more relaxed of the duo) and their editor Hattori (who wants to see them succeed, but thinks they should take things at a slower pace), but it's just so unfortunate the relationship between Mashiro and Azuki comes across as a patronizing, idolized version of romance, that would never in a million years work out in real life. It's not a deal breaker, as the rest of what makes up Bakuman is truly fantastic, but it's enough to prevent the series from being the near flawless modern classic it could have been.

The first series see's our protagonists, reach a certain point in their goal, though obviously leaves things open enough for a further series (there have been another two) and to J.C Staff's credit, they do at least announce that the second season was already on it's way at the end of the final episode, so even with the semi cliff hanger at the end, and the introductions of some potentially compelling characters (that include a new rival mangaka) viewers cannot complain about an inconclusive ending.

Closing Verdict: Bakuman provides a thrilling and fascinating insight into the dynamics of the manga industry and what it takes to become a successful mangaka. However the central romance is an absolute dud, and is an unfortunate blot on what could have been a near flawless series.

Is the Dub Any Good?: New York based Media Blasters, did the dub for the first season with Michael Sinterniklaas and Kevin T.Collins in the lead roles of Mashiro and Takagi, with Stephanie Sheh providing the voice for Miho Azuki.

I personally cannot however comment on the quality of the dub (as the UK release DVD I picked up for this, was sub only), but notice that it does feature a lot of relative unknowns, though Stephanie Sheh (who has played plenty of soft voiced characters in the past) does seem to at least be good casting for Azuki.

I guess you'd have to watch Mangirl as a counter to it. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
