Giel M
El Hot Dog vs. Big Bo Lox w/ Jenna Talia funniest JOBBER ever. Frat Pack (Darius King & Scott Bingington) vs. Glenview Bad Boyz (Brian King & Lil Swag) Need to keep the frat pack at least somewaht relevant. The Seekers (Ebi Kadivar & Charles Vine) vs. Dreamscape (Frightening & Scaremare) Betting some kind of draw here. Between this match and the next, we should get more clues on where the Maltese Falcon is. Johnny G Wells & Nevada Van Sant vs. Fargo Korben & Earl Ray Travis The faces are the ones in the storyline. Though I HOPE we'll get to see Wells' ass kicked a lot during this one. Discotheque (Donny Reed & KC Summer) & Richie Santana Jr vs. Nightmares (All Hallows Eve & Christian Prophet) & Alexia Dynamite Heel win to compensate, POW Grand Championship Best of Three Falls Sky Panther © vs. WMD Another kind of schmooze draw or semi-win for WMD. Zergon
El Hot Dog vs. Big Bo Lox w/ Jenna Talia Everyone´s favorite jobber eats another pin here. Frat Pack (Darius King & Scott Bingington) vs. Glenview Bad Boyz (Brian King & Lil Swag) No idea what to expect from Bad Boyz so I go with more established team. The Seekers (Ebi Kadivar & Charles Vine) vs. Dreamscape (Frightening & Scaremare) Ebi is feuding with Prophet so he should be able to beat his henchmen. Johnny G Wells & Nevada Van Sant vs. Fargo Korben & Earl Ray Travis No idea, to be honest but I guess that Fargo is the top name here. Discotheque (Donny Reed & KC Summer) & Richie Santana Jr vs. Nightmares (All Hallows Eve & Christian Prophet) & Alexia Dynamite With Prophet and Alexia seemingly being two biggest names here I just can´t see faces winning here. POW Grand Championship Best of Three Falls Sky Panther © vs. WMD I could see a title change but right now I would put my money on Prophet getting the title next. Phantom Stranger
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/POW.jpg POW: Perdido Street Arena Monday Week April 2012 Ohio Jewish Center (Great Lakes) Attendance: 193 Announcers: http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/Buccaneer.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/TheChef.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/FordMemphis.jpg Buccaneer * “The Chef” Chet Rio * Ford Memphis http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/ShayKinsella.jpg His music hits and Shay Kinsella grooves his way past the fans and into the ring, glad-handing all the way. Kay Fabe passes him POW's microphone and he jives one last step, coming to a stop in the centre of the ring. “Big news tonight,” he begins. “Big, big news. Now, I don't have a measure-taking match tonight – that'll most likely come in again next month, at The Belt That Fell To Earth – but tonight we had a bunch of matches to fit in and I wanted the night off.” He grins. “BUT – I did want to see you guys. And it just so happens I knew we were gonna be giving some news out. “So I called dibs. Ladies and gentlemen, I don't often do this. It's hard for me to ask you guys to turn and face away from the ring. But for just a moment, look over there – check out the Commentation Station, because as well as dependable deep-fryin' Chef Chet Rio and the swarthy knave with a second home in Somalia, the Buccaneer, we've got an according-to-Hoyle star of the past, a former WWWE International Champion, THE former WWWE International Champion, someone who was triple-dubya before the net was cool,” his pace and urgency have been rising all along and near a crescendo, “we've got Ford Memphis, we've got a legend to give us and you his knowledge and experience, and I want you all, right now, to stand up and pay respects!” http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/FordMemphis.jpg And the crowd, all less than 200 of them, explode. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/POW_Banner.jpg http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/ElHotDog.jpg vs. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/MartinMcClane.jpg w/ http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/TatianaPetrov.jpg El Hot Dog vs. Big Bo Lox w/ Jenna Talia Big Bo gets his game plan from Jenna in the early moments of this contest; gets them, indeed, loud and clear. “Beat that meat!” And so he sets out to do. El Hot Dog continues to show determination, pluck, and genuine skill, but the last founding member of WANG ultimately does what all his stablemates have done; notably, at one point a stalling vertical suplex sees El Hot Dog proudly extended above Big Bo Lox. “Hey, Chef,” Ford says. “What's that look like to you?” “Bologna,” the Chef returns, and when the ensuing pin ends the match, Memphis swears to make the name stick if it kills him. Geoffrey C. Winchester II stands before a vending machine watching as something vaguely approximating tea is spurted into a paper cup. He picks up the full cup with pinky extended, crossing to the table on which his gramophone rests, and sets it in place on a beautiful china saucer. Picking up a cucumber sandwich (with the crusts sliced off) from a silver platter, he nibbles at the snack daintily and lifts a copy of the London Times to consult. Two men pass his table; Winchester glances up at them and remarks, in passing, “I say, this just isn't cricket. If Mister Stalin keeps on like this, Prime Minister Churchill and Mister Truman will have some very stern words for him.” http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/BrianKing.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/LilSwag.jpg The Glenview Bad Boyz, Brian King and Li'l Swag, look at Westminster like he's crazy as, pinky extended, he takes a sip from the paper cup. King and Swag stare at him, and King eventually breaks the silence. “Yo, man, those some primo goggles.” Westminster delicately returns the paper cup to the saucer. Then he looks up, puzzled. “I beg your pardon?” “I's just sayin', dogg, you rockin' the goggles.” Swag joins in. “I and I gots to agree. You some thrift store muthaf-” “Do I take you right, that you wish to compliment my flying goggles? They are no 'thrift store' hand-me-downs, sir. These were issued to me by the Royal Air Force upon my admission to the Fighter Training Program. But I thank you for the sentiment, at any rate. Will there be anything else?” The Bad Boyz exchange glances. After a moment, King again breaks the silence. “You sayin' you a fighter ace? A brutha can make it?” “Well, I'm an only child, old boy, but of course. There's twins in one unit, in point of fact.” Brian King looks tremendously impressed. Swag speaks up. “Yo, man, we gotta match in a minute. We gotta bounce.” “Aight,” King nods. “Let's bounce, homes.” They swagger off, their heads bobbing up and down in exaggerated fashion and eerie unison. Westminster watches them go. “Odd chaps,” he muses. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/POW_Banner.jpg http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/MartinMcClane.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/TatianaPetrov.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/ScottSeal.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/CameronCody.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/KrisBryant.jpg By the time the DVD cuts away from that, and to the full benefit of the show's attendees, WANG stands proud in the ring. John Thomas has the purple helmet this time; Little Willy has the mic. “I just want to start out by saying that the Frat Pack have been in POW for nearly a year and a half now,” he begins. “A year and a half, and Freshman Patel is STILL a Freshman.” He pauses to let that sink in. “But the fact is, I'm not surprised. King, Bingington, Patel, you just don't have the fire to get things done. In the ring, in the class room, in the exam hall, in your dorm room with the cute coed wearing your letterman jackets, it's still not happening. Because you're soft. “And you'll always be soft. Not like us. WANG is hard. WANG will not bend, WANG will not break, WANG will always get you the girl, the trophy, the good grades in college, the scholarship, the high-paid job – anything in the world a man could want, WANG can bring him. “You need to remember that.” http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/DariusKing.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/FreshmanPatel.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/ScottBingington.jpg The Frat Pack rush the ring, holding their traditional foreign objects – a bong, a hockey stick with a Foghat poster attached like a flag, and Freshman Patel holding the Trios belts stacked together for what the Buccaneer has long called 'Das Uberbeltshot.' It's also, as the Chef reminds the watching fans, a message for WANG – a message that the Frat Pack remain champions. As they hit the ring, WANG bail, escaping up the ramp. As he backs away – and as the Pack celebrate – Little Willy raises the mic to his lips once more. “You think you're so good? You think you matter? He pops another cube of Turkish Delight into his mouth, smiles, and rises from the hammock. Still slightly out of shot, the feminine arms of the fanbearer slide into shot and remove his silk robe, leaving Kadivar standing in his wrestling gear. “It is done, Charles,” he says simply. “Now... let us strike a blow against evil.” Vine smiles. “It'll be like old times, Ebi,” he says. “For Queen and Country.” http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/POW_Banner.jpg http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/PaulCrowley.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/EbiKadivar.jpg vs. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/Frightening.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/Scaremare.jpg The Seekers vs. Dreamscape A hectic little thing, but one of the things it really shows is that, for all the burgeoning teamwork of Dreamscape, the Seekers have a level of understanding that seems to surpass that. Their co-ordination combines with Kadivar's high-flying expertise, culminating when Kadivar catches Scaremare with a flying neckbreaker on the ring apron, sending both of them tumbling to the outside. That leaves Vine to lock in a grounded submission on Frightening that Memphis, with a certain enthusiasm, dubs the Grapevine. Wells is trying, but Van Sant and Korben both clearly outclass him. It's hard to say who's better between him and Travis, and the result sees him take a serious beating, and only barely escape the famed 460 degree splash. When he does make the tag, however, Nevada explodes. Korben puts up a spirited defence, but against her speed he can barely swiggle, let alone flupe, and the Edge of Forever comes after a missed charge sees him rebound from the steelonium upright. Van Sant makes the pin and stakes her claim. After a moment, so does the henchwench. The quartet move out, revealing that, stood behind them and chilling this whole time, Discotheque and Richie Santana Jr have been watching the conversation. After a few moments, Santana Jr speaks up. “That is messed UP,” he asserts. Donny Reed looks over. “Hmm?” “Prophet got the address last month,” Richie says. “He's had a whole month to find this thing, whatever it is, already. And now he's putting it off all the way 'til next month's show?” “Well, he's booked tonight,” KC Summer explains. “So he couldn't go out hunting now, could he?” “Yeah, but why didn't he go for it between shows?” Discotheque look at Santana like he suggested finding the place by travelling in a straight line through the earth's crust. “Dig it, cat, we did I, Wrestler, now we're doing Perdido Street Arena. He wrestled then, he's wrestling tonight. When would we have time?” asks Reed. Richie Santana stares at him for a long moment, then shakes his head. “Never mind,” he says. “Let's go win this match.” http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/POW_Banner.jpg http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/DonnyChic.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/KCSummer.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/RichieSantanaJr.jpg Discotheque & Richie Santana Jr vs. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/AllHallowsEve.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/ChristianProphet.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/POW/AlexiaDynamite.jpg Nightmares & Alexia Dynamite The Discotheque pairing spend this match showing exactly why they are Sidekick champions, dominating and double-teaming with astonishing fluidity. The Nightmares match them for power, outdo them for ferocity, but cannot connect as well, though they try. As for Alexia Dynamite, she seems hellbent not on being part of a trio but on getting inside Santana's head, unleashing all of the sex appeal of the woman who put the T&A in TNT, and even laying him out with a Fist Full of Dynamite – only to be cut off by KC Summer, who keeps her in the ring, backdrops All Hallows Eve over the top rope off a charge, then drops, pulling the ropes down, to send Christian Prophet flying over them. Sky Panther seems buoyed up by his team's victory at I, Wrestler, and he shows that by, in fine form, taking the first fall with a Slo-Mo Stunner which the Buccaneer insists comes out of nowhere despite taking a full thirty seconds to execute. WMD rallies, capitalising on Panther's sudden confidence, coming back in the second fall with a powerbomb counter to a top-rope huracanrana. Panther still seems out of it as the third fall begins, as Ford Memphis develops a whole new appreciation for the power of the Woman of Mass Destruction. Sky Panther's mood shifts abruptly from confidence to panic. He spends the third and final fall running scared, hitting and then running away, and it works for a long time – until, suddenly, WMD snaps back to normal speed in the middle of a slo-mo assault, headbutting the masked marvel to the mat and delivering a Tactical Air Strike. Memphis calls for the champ to kick out, but the Chef and the Buccaneer are already delivering a eulogy. Fifteen fallen. She has yet to lose, and she kills every time she is left alone to do so. “She's killed Sky Panther alone twice.” He lets that hang in the air. “Rest in peace, champ. Rest well, for you fought like a star.” “We'll never see his like again,” the Buccaneer agrees, as the aides carry the coffin with Panther's unmoving form from the arena. Phantom Stranger
I absolutely adore the meta jokes. There is no time outside of wrestling! Well, obviously! On a more serious note for a second, guys and gals, I'm really glad to have as much response as this has gotten so far. POW is as much as anything, from my perspective, a challenge in flexing my skills and seeing what I can do with a type of writing I haven't done much about. So all feedback is valuable. What's working for you guys? What isn't? Who do you think you should have a handle on, but don't?

Wallbanger
My observation is that you’re not varying noticeably from your ‘signature’ style, but rather presenting POW in such a way that your style works for it. So far you’re pulling it off well. It’s very, well, British in a way. You have these characters saying such outlandish things, but the ‘dry wit’ that is used to deliver it is so genuine that the humor takes you by surprise, even though you’re expecting it. Then when something more farcical shows up (like Fargo’s characterization) the change of pace keeps things fresh. The thing to strive for, I think, is to keep that sense of genuineness. If it starts to feel like the characters are TRYING to be funny (or worse, laughing at their own jokes), the whole thing will fall apart.
Zergon
Johnny G Wells vs. Earl Ray Travis I just don´t have much faith on Travis. Charles Vine & Nevada Van Sant vs. All Hallows Eve & Scaremare I would assume that Vine does better in singles competition compered to Scaremare plus Van Sant has impressed me more than Eve so far (small sample though). Discotheque vs. Glenview Bad Boyz (non-title) Bad Boyz couldn´t beat Frat Pack so hard to see them going over champs. Darius King vs. Frightening Hmmm this is a tough one. I got the feeling that King is more likely to win but this time I follow my heart and pick Frightening instead. Richie Santana Jr & Shay Kinsella vs. Complete Package (Little Willy & Big Bo Lox) w/ Jenna Talia Pretty sure faces are bigger names at the moment. Slo-Mo Dojo vs. Fargo Korben & WMD Korben didn´t get the job done against Wells and Van Sant and Slo-Mo are way better so that is enough for me to go against heels here even with WMD being as impressive as she has been. Plus this is a nice way to give Panther a win back after failing twice against WMD in singles action.
