Have loved all the other attempts youve made at this era so cant wait to see were this goes.

Terry Funk vs. Flyin' Brian

Comment: Way too early in Pillmans career to score a win this huge without some serious shenanigans.

Bill Irwin vs. Tommy Rich

Comment: Wildfire has a better history than jobbing to Bill Irwin.

Fatu vs. Road Warrior Animal

Comment: I smell an upset here setting up something bigger down the road probably through interference although a DQ is not out of the question.

NWA Television Title Match: Sting defends vs. The Great Muta

Comment: Great Main Event for your first TV don't see a tile change here. But i do expect a clean finish or a schmozz with a DQ victory for Sting is also a possibility.

Terry Funk vs. Flyin' Brian

Comment: I love Pillman, but he's nowhere near over enough at this point to warrant a win over the Funkster

Bill Irwin vs. Tommy Rich

Comment: Chose him simply because I don't know much about Irwin

Fatu vs. Road Warrior Animal

Comment: Love Rikishi, but it's the late 80s, Animal is a star.

NWA POWER HOUR

Friday Week 1 September 1989

Terry Funk vs. Flyin' Brian

Comment: Funker can gain some quick momentum from this win, and it'll help Brian to be in the ring with a vet like Terry.

Bill Irwin vs. Tommy Rich

Comment: He's a former World champion!

Fatu vs. Road Warrior Animal

Comment: Should be a nice little brawl, that's for sure.

NWA Television Title Match: Sting defends vs. The Great Muta

Comment: Stinger really needs to move up the ranks from the TV belt, but Muta just popularity-wise isn't there to pull this one off yet. I suspect this will quickly end the feud so you can move both guys to something else, so that you can make something completely different from real life.

I know you didn't leave a thing for it, but Fun Fan Sign for ya, just because: GREEN MIST

Thank you so much! Always great to have a return reader!

Sounds like a good show.

Thanks for that! But I cannot take all the credit, though. I found a site that has a listing of the matches/angles for the old Power Hours and such so I am kind of using that as a model to go by some.

I know you didn't leave a thing for it, but Fun Fan Sign for ya, just because: GREEN MIST

Yeah, I forgot about the fun fan signs. They're always fun and will be placed up for the next show. Though yours here goes into the Power Hour!

Thanks to everyone who predicted and I am giving around a 24 hour warning here for the show to be posted. Those who predicted are:

Again, thank you for the predictions! To those who have given this diary one star? Well, yeah, is all I have to say about that.

NWA POWER HOUR!

Friday Week 1 September 1989

Location: American Bank Center (Mid South)

Attendance: 10,000

Overall Rating: B+

TV Rating: 2.04

Match #1

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/terryfunk2.jpg w/ http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/garyhart.jpg vs. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/brianpillman.jpg

Terry Funk vs. Flyin' Brian

[This match was set up because of Funk's Grill last week where Flyin' Brian was a special guest. Terry Funk joined with Norman The Lunatic in an assault on the young Flyin' Brian and Brian is looking for revenge with this contest. The youthful Flyin' Brian begins the match with a slap for the veteran Terry Funk. The slap causes Funk to grow angry and go right after Flyin' Brian. Brian uses this anger to keep Funk at bay and he scores a couple of near-falls on the #1 contender! The match takes a turn when out from the back walks Norman The Lunatic. He settles in at ringside and proves to be a distraction to Flyin' Brian. Even moreso than a distraction, it is his interference that brings about the ending of the match. Norman catches Brian outside the ring and runs him into the ring post while Gary Hart has the attention of the referee. Brian is tossed back into the waiting arms of Terry Funk, who drops him with the Texas Piledriver. Funk makes the cover: 1 -- 2 -- 3!]

Winner: Terry Funk (Via Pinfall @ 6:48)

Match Rating: B

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/mikeshaw2.jpg

[The match is over and into the ring comes Norman The Lunatic! Norman puts the boots to the fallen Flyin' Brian and then picks him up -- high angle falling powerslam! Brian is crushed under the weight of Norman The Lunatic as the crowd boos! Norman ignores the crowd and seems ready to inflict more and more damage on Flyin' Brian. But he's not the only one ready to get into the act. Terry Funk goes over to get his branding iron and looks down at Flyin' Brian before someone comes bursting from the back.]

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/ricflairc.jpg

[it's Ric Flair! Ric Flair slides into the ring and gives Terry Funk a chop and then one for Norman! Chop! Punch! 'The Nature Boy' is on fire! Ric gives Norman a clothesline that knocks him down and out of the ring. Funk sees which way the wind is going and quickly escapes the ring before any more damage can be done. Ric stands tall in the ring, checking on his friend Flyin' Brian. 'The Nature Boy' then looks up and stares down Terry Funk, his next challenger for the NWA World Heavyweight title. Gary Hart holds Funk back from going after Flair.]

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/bobcaudle.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/luger.jpg

[The NWA Power Hour has begun strong and now goes backstage where Bob Caudle is standing next to the NWA United States champion 'The Total Package' Lex Luger! Bob asks Lex about his upcoming title defense at the end of the month against Tommy 'Wildfire' Rich. Lex seems to laugh off the 'challenge' of Tommy Rich. He says that Tommy's days beating men like him passed a long time ago. Even back then he wasn't man enough to beat the Total Package. Then again, asks Lex Luger, is anyone man enough to go toe to toe with the Total Package? Bob Caudle says that Ric Flair has a mystery partner coming up on NWA's World Championship Wrestling that says he can beat Lex Luger. Lex laughs it off, saying that Ric Flair will probably pick Sting or Tommy Rich or Flyin' Brian. None of those three can beat me, according to Lex. Lex flexes and then we move back to the ring for our next match.]

Match #2

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/billirwin2.jpg vs. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/tommyrich.jpg

Bill Irwin vs. Tommy Rich

[Our next match is a very short contest, less than two minutes to be exact. Bill Irwin keeps Tommy Rich at bay with his bullwhip before the bell. However, once that bell rings, it is all Tommy Rich. The former NWA World Heavyweight champion dominates this extremely short match. Both men are fine with brawling and exchanging punches occurs frequently. Rich catches Irwin with a dropkick and then bounces off the ropes -- Lou Thesz Press! Rich hooks the legs: 1 -- 2 -- 3!]

Winner: Tommy Rich (Via Pinfall @ 1:54)

Match Rating: C

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/terryfunk2.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/MichaelHayes7.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/jimmygarvin.jpg

[And now it's time for the most unpredictable moment here on NWA Power Hour. Welcome to Funk's Grill! Terry Funk introduces the Grill and then he introduces his special guests: the NWA World Tag Team champions The Fabulous Freebirds! 'Badstreet USA' welcomes out the Freebirds and the focus of conversation is on their tag team titles defense at the end of the month and the Fall Brawl pay-per-view. Jimmy Garvin asks the question of 'what do you have when you have 30 beautiful women in the same room as the Freebirds? Not enough women is the answer! Michael Hayes says that the Steiners are young punks and not really worthy of the title shot but they are fighting champions. The Freebirds are always fighting champions and when the Steiners take a long walk down Badstreet USA they're gonna find out what the Freebirds are all about.]

Match #3

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/fatu7.jpg w/ http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/paule.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/samu5.jpg vs. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/animal3.jpg w/ http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/paulellering.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/hawk3.jpg

Fatu vs. Road Warrior Animal

[A very hard hitting contest in our semi main event. It is announced that these two teams in The Samoan Swat Team and the Road Warriors will be facing off at NWA Fall Brawl at the end of the month. This is also an extremely short contest that sees both men's partners at ringside. Not a whole lot can be said about the match in general except that it was more of a fight. It got even crazier when Samu tried to interfere and Hawk came running over to stop him. So you had Samu and Hawk fighting at ringside. Paul E. Dangerously climbs on the apron and he nails Animal in the back of the head with the cell phone! Too bad it was in plain sight of the official. The referee called for an immediate disqualification.]

Winner: Road Warrior Animal (Via Disqualification @ 4:31)

Match Rating: C+

[but the sound of the bell did not stop these two teams. Road Warrior Hawk rakes the face of Samu and then climbs into the ring. He catches Fatu in the back with a double sledge. He holds Fatu's arms and Road Warrior Animal throws a couple of punches to the chest and shoulders. Paul E. Dangerously calls the SST off as Paul Ellering enters the ring to join his team. The three men in the ring stare down the three men at ringside, daring them to come inside the ring but discretion is the better part of valor here for the SST.]

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/oleanderson.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/ricflairc.jpg

[We move from the ringside area to an interview area where the cameras pick up on Ole Anderson and Ric Flair having a seemingly private discussion. Ole says that Ric did not consult him when picking this mystery partner for tomorrow night. He says that he doesn't like it. Ric tells Ole that he and his partner can be trusted. After all, the two of them are Horsemen. Ole sees the camera and walks over, closing a door that could not be seen until this moment.]

Match #4

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/sting4.jpg vs. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/greatmuta.jpg w/ http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/garyhart.jpg

NWA Television Title Match

Sting defends vs. The Great Muta

[Our main event contest here on the Power Hour and it's a great one as Sting defends the NWA Television title against The Great Muta. The match features great action, a good crowd and great chemistry between these two top athletes. The fans were definitely behind the highly charasmatic Sting in this contest and he took an early advantage on The Great Muta. Sting nearly draws a three count early on but the momentum shifts when he goes for the Stinger Splash and The Great Muta moves. Sting flies up and over the turnbuckles, spilling onto the floor. Muta distracts the official and Gary Hart gets a few kicks in to the ribs of the Television champion. Standing behind Gary Hart is a fan holding up a sign reading: 'GREEN MIST!']

[The action returns to the ring where The Great Muta whips Sting into the corner and then connects with a handspring elbow. Muta whips Sting down with a snap mare and makes the cover: 1 -- 2 -- Kickout! The fans get wildly behind Sting, trying to rally him to a comeback. This does happen when he moves out of the way of a Muta Moonsault attempt. Both men get to their feet and exchange punches(Sting) and chops(The Great Muta). Sting gets the advantage and strikes with a Scorpion Death Drop. He then looks to head up to the top turnbuckle. As he gets to the top and perches there, Gary Hart climbs on the apron and shoves him down. The official calls for an immediate disqualification.]

Winner: Sting (Via Disqualification @ 8:02; Sting retains the NWA Television title)

Match Rating: A

[The crowd boos as Gary Hart enters the ring and puts some boots to Sting. Gary helps The Great Muta to his feet and the two men lay boots and kicks to Sting. Sting is set up in a corner and The Great Muta lays into him with roundhouse karate kicks. The Great Muta steps back as Gary Hart holds Sting in the corner -- handspring elbow! Sting staggers out and falls to the mat. The crowd tries to get Sting to fight back but then explode as someone comes running down to the ring.]

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/NWA%20Goal/ricflairc.jpg

[it's Ric Flair! The Nature Boy slides into the ring and throws chops and punches to both The Great Muta and Gary Hart! Ric releases a 'Whoooooo' as he clotheslines The Great Muta over the top rope to the floor. Then he turns his attention to the manager. Gary Hart moves to exit the ring but he gets caught by Flair! Ric shoves Gary Hart in a corner and laces his chest with chops and then he gives a strut. As he is strutting, Sting recovers and shoves Gary Hart out of the ring. The two men left in the ring are Sting and Ric Flair. They exchange a handshake as the show goes off the air.]

Comment: Just cause the SST are facing off with the Road Warriors.
