The rise of Pedro Gomez part 1 the GSW years

Every kid I knew growing up wanted to become the next Sam Strong or Tommy Cornell. Who would have guessed a hispanic kid from the south side of Chicago would actually do it? In case you are not aware, and if you aren't why are you reading my book, that kid was me the “Hispanic Causing Panic” Pedro Gomez!

Now, I didn't just waltz into the big leagues one day and instantly become a mega star. No, it took a lot of hard work, dedication to my craft, and just a little bit of luck. It all started the day I walked into The Warehouse and met with Winston Boe AKA Brother Grimm. Grimm was looking for someone who could help book his GSW promotion while he went on tour with the M.F.P. (Motha F*ckin Pimps). As luck would have it Grimm actually met with me and after a short meeting I was the new head booker for GSW.

Exciting right? No it wasn't a great description of events at all. Well, lucky for you it I got better then that weak story as Grimm actually records everything that happens in his office, for legal reasons pertaining to a prior lawsuit, and he has allowed me to share the transcripts of all our meeting with all of you. Further more, in hopes that his GSW gets some exposure, Grimm has given me a complete record of GSW during my tenure as head booker and I am going to share it all with you in this book. What follows is an accurate account of my time in GSW, complete with notes by both Grimm and I written during the time, and a detailed record of GSW history Enjoy!

It's been gone for a long time... Its was a cult phenomonon..... many of it's roster is gone and working for the big companies. And now, the creator of the stars.... the creators of hardcore and the innovators of violence.... ARE BACK. DAVE is back again with it's hardcore no bullshit action that made it a cult phenomonon so many years ago and now it's going to try again to conquer the elite in SWF, TCW and USPW. Watch out cause hardcore is taking over again.

Thoughts? Anybody interested?

<p>While i was away... i was thinking on another possible idea for a 1991 diary... besides playing as myself in WCW and trying to steer it in a NWA like direction without belonging to the NWA.</p><p> </p><p>

Or....</p><p> </p><p>

Playing as Jim Cornette in WWF... for some reason, i'm more attracted to the idea to play as him, rather than playing with Eric Bischoff.</p>

Thanks for the responses everyone. I think we'll be up-and-running soon. We have both booked our first shows so it's really a case of finalising ideas and getting some bits and pieces written up before the diary can begin. It's looking like being a lot of fun based on the first few days of playing! <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Thanks everyone for the votes of confidence here. We are both having fun with the game and in getting everything ready for the diary. I second the words of my partner, jhd1, in this matter. You can expect some type of prediction contest and, as always in my diaries, the fun fan signs will be making an appearance.

So I've been chomping at the bit since February to run a New Japan save, I've finally decided to get my account activated here and as far as I am aware there's no NJPW diary...

I have some great ideas regarding prediction contests, but I'm just wondering if anybody would follow?

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling - 1983</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i60.tinypic.com/23msj8o.png</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>January 1983</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Cash</strong> - $500,000</p><p>

<strong>Size</strong> - Regional</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Piper & Flair</strong></p><p> </p><p>

During the course of January Flair and Piper have rekindled a bitter rivalry. Piper seems 100% focused on capturing his first ever NWA World Heavyweight Championship at the expense of rival Ric Flair.</p><p>

Heated words turned nasty when Flair joined the commentary table for Piper's match against Sgt Slaughter. When Piper could not resist leaving the ring and getting in Flair's face, Slaughter distracted the referee and whilst Piper turned his back on Flair, Flair attacked Piper sending him face first into ring post and giving Slaughter the count out victory. Piper was later diagnosed with a Fractured Cheek Bone and was forced to sit out the following week. Rumors surfaced that Piper would miss out on his Championship opportunity but in typical Piper fashion he returned the following week to declare that nothing would keep him from beating Flair within an inch of his life at MACW's January Big Show.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Brisco Brothers & Funk Brothers</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The Brisco Brothers looking keen favorites to capture the vacant NWA Tag Team titles following the departure of Don Kernodle from MACW. That was until the Funk Brothers reunited in an effort to become NWA Tag Team Champions. The two sets of Brothers met in the ring during an episode of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling with the Funk Brothers scoring the victory when Dory Funk Jr pinned Jerry Brisco with a hand full of tights. With the fans backing the Brisco sort of revenge on the Funks and leveled the series to one a piece heading into the Championship match at at MACW's January Big Show.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Larry Zbyszko & Greg Valentine</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Larry Zbyszko made his welcomed debut in MACW in early January stating that he was sick of seeing the NWA United States title being disgraced by Greg Valentine and he was here in MACW to take that title away from him. Valentine's new manager Jimmy Hart responded by telling Zbyszko that whilst he was in charge of Valentines' affairs, Zybsko would never get a shot at the US title. Larry announced that Greg's brother Johnny, MACW official had already granted him a title opportunity at MACW's January Big Show.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>Another two ideas regarding 1991 came up to me.... this is just weird... everytime i think of an idea regarding my future diary... another comes up... one more interesting than the last one.</p><p> </p><p>

Now, a Paul E. Dangerously as a booker within either WWF or WCW in 1991 or either a new company founded by someone else to fill in WCW's place as the NWA's main representative. Might be Cornette's SMW.</p>

<p>A brand new side project for myself...</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>Here’s a free history lesson.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

In 1985, the World Wrestling Federation made a bold statement; they called it WrestleMania.</p><p> </p><p>

With that one event, the whole landscape of the wrestling world changed. No longer was it viable for a wrestling company to stay in their corner of the country; fans didn’t want to just go to house shows, they want to see their favorite stars from the comfort of their own home. They want television. It’s the MTV Generation, and they want it in front of them, now, or it’s just not good enough.</p><p> </p><p>

Founded in what seems like the beginning of time ago, the National Wrestling Alliance, a loose affiliation of companies run by a boardroom of owners and bookers, have the best chance of derailing the McMahon train before it gets out of control. They have in their fold the biggest name in the country that isn’t in the WWF, “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. They focus on wrestling, not characters, and are offering the greatest alternative due to their talented and diverse roster, which comes from bringing together all the companies which were under the NWA banner.</p><p> </p><p>

Jim Crockett Promotions may have started in one area, but we’re about to go nationwide. But people are becoming tired of some of the outright selfish kind of booking that goes on when only one person holds power. So, in the interest of keeping active the “boardroom” of the National Wrestling Alliance, there will be a three man booking team, with Crockett holding the final say on matters. Dusty Rhodes will retain his booking powers, grandfathered in due to past service. He will be joined by NWA commentator Jim Ross. It is believed that Ross is there to keep the more realistic side of the booking, as well as make sure that the future of the company will be littered with college and professional athletes who can wrestle as well as talk. </p><p> </p><p>

But for the third member of the new team, they’ve decided to bring in a ringer. A man who is rather new to the world of pro wrestling, but has been requesting for some time to get noticed in the world; a man who has been managing for a year now in the northeast, Florida, Memphis, and the AWA. Now, he gets thrown directly into the fire; but if there’s one thing he knows how to do, it’s how to live Dangerously.</p><p> </p><p>

We are about to take you back to a time when wrestling was wrestling. When it was still real to everyone. When your favorite wrestlers telling you not to do drugs while they were going out and getting blasted after the show was just commonplace. When everyone had a manager whether they could talk for themselves or not. When Arn Anderson still had a nice head of hair. When men were men, and women wore one piece bikinis to wrestle.</p><p> </p><p>

This is the National Wrestling Alliance in February 1988, as run by a triple headed booking team, as they chase down the World Wrestling Federation.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>Welcome to the Jungle.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/NWA/nwa.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p>

Not only himself. Us. lol

The World Wrestling Federation is on its biggest ride ever.

In 1985, Vince McMahon made one of his biggest creations. WrestleMania was a complete success, creating some fanfare that the WWF had never seen before.

The world of professional wrestling had never seen such attention like that, with WrestleMania starting a era that many call the ''Golden'' Era of the sport. The boom caused by WrestleMania made fans not only from the United States, but from all over the world want to follow everything, with the stories being told in a way never seen before. But the World Wrestling Federation needs to stay alert - because like it or not, thrones are made to be conquered, and the eyes of three persons are up to the WWF throne.

The National Wrestling Alliance, in which Vince McMahon Sr. had made the WWF a part of before Vincent Kennedy McMahon separated the company from and then, with WrestleMania, made it a global phenomenon, is looking forward to rise to the occasion with all their wrestlers and bring in some competition to the WWF. However, the WWF is not looking to leave its throne - not without a good fight. With Hulkamania being the biggest force on pop today, and the WWF having more than the WWF World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan in the stock to battle the NWA, the war is really looking up and Vince McMahon is ready for it. He's got the guns and the determination to keep the WWF on its place.

Vincent Kennedy McMahon is not a man of words - he's a man of actions and he's proud of it. With one event he took the professional wrestling world by storm, he transformed his company in the biggest thing going on today, he took all the professional wrestling world on his hands. But he looks forward to in the end, being the one saying the final word on the war.

With every type of wrestler that you can think about locked and loaded on the roster, the World Wrestling Federation is on and ready to the fourth edition of WrestleMania in the Trump Plaza. With super heroes, powerful warriors, arrogant millionaries and Giant competitors, the World Wrestling Federation is welcoming its fans to a great era of wrestling. It is a great time to be a professional wrestling fan and the WWF just shows that. The WWF welcomes the fans to The Main Event. The WWF welcomes the fans to WrestleMania. Because in the end, the WWF is truly what the world is watching. When the war is over, there will be only one thing left to say. And Vincent Kennedy McMahon looks forward to be the one to say it with the WWF.

Welcome to the Jungle.

A WWF vs. NWA diary.
