- Not sure about it being the forth most prestigious title in the US, but a nice bit of hyperbole. I picked Bulldozer because I cannot in good faith support a man with a finisher called the Kirk Lock. Isn't he supposed to be the Marksmen? Seems a lot better names to call it.

Both men are up for this, especially Glenn, who seems to have a more vicious edge than previously. This is exemplified when George Wolfe shows up at ringside; Glenn smashes the distracted Sanders with a Tune Up The Sunshine Band and picks up the win.

Marvel Malloy w/Carl Batch vs Storm Spillane
The tension has been building for months and as a result, the pace is electric. Storm has a point to prove, while Malloy is determined to prove he was the star of the team. Malloy is actually in control until he attempts a Kudo Kutter….Storm, forced to watch ‘Best of Hooded Kudo Vol 1, 2 and 4’ several times, anticipates and counters the Kudo Kutter, leaving Malloy dazed…

Batch intervenes, trying to distract Graveson…only to distract Malloy! Spillane quickly capitalises, rolling a confused Malloy into the Kneeling Boston Crab…Malloy taps!

With Architect restraining Heizenger, Starr quickly hits the Starr Sign on an unconscious Svensson and makes the cover…

Ref Graveson doesn’t even try and keep order here – neither team respects it and we need a winner, so let them fight! A de Aske cross body gets two on Wolfe, DDD breaking up the cover.

The Rebels look to follow with the Rebel Crusher on Wolfe, but sneaky vet DDD low blows Gumble, then slams de Aske from the top rope. Hooking the tights on the way down allows DDD to sneak a 3 count!

The camera flicks off…when the picture comes back, we see through the lens of a hand held camera…see the face of Genghis Rahn…

Alanis: “Please welcome the challenger for the EPW Pacific Title…on loan from PSW...Casey Valentine!”

The crowd boo the arrogant Valentine as he struts down the aisle…Alanis looks to greet him, but Valentine blows her off, preferring to admire his physique… (D)

EPW Pacific Title Ernest Youngman vs Casey Valentine
Valentine takes control straight away, jumping Youngman before the bell and working over the youngster’s ribs. The crowd visibly worry for Youngman as Valentine scores a near fall from a rib breaker, then arrogantly struts into a kneedrop, directly onto the ribs of the champion!

However his arrogance backfires – Valentine is too slow to set up Deep Impact (Spike Piledriver), allowing Youngman to counter with a back drop. Youngman then surprises Valentine and the crowd with The Hit! 1 – 2 -3!

Winner – Ernest Youngman @10:15 (D+)

We see Freddie Datsun at the EPW promo point, ready to speak

Datsun: “Matthew…I‘ve heard it all before…I’m too old, I never was…point is, son, I’m still doing it. I’m still taking on and beating all comers. I’m still competing for titles. I’m still defying Father Time.

And your daddy gave me some beatings sure, but I gave it him all back…and he took it. That’s where the similarities end, junior. I don’t think you have his heart or his fire. All I see are empty boasts and false confidence. Feel free to prove me wrong, Matthew.” (C-)

Bart Biggins vs Rhino Umaga w/Carl Batch

Bart Biggins starts smart here – he stays mobile, ducking and dodging the bigger Rhino and picking his shots where he can. Eventually, Rhino catches up to him, thanks to Carl Batch’s interferrence, and begins to inflict some punishment.

However Rhino dwells too long on a Samoan Drop, allowing Bart to slide off the Samoan’s shoulders. Enraged, Rhino throws a vicious latriat…but Bart isn’t there! Quick roll up from Biggins, 1 – 2 – 3!

Winner – Bart Biggins @ 13:45 (D-)

Darryl Devine is ready for his allocated promo, at the Crippler Position

Darryl: “I’m sick of this Rahn. You talk about ridding the company of the unworthy, of the underserving. How are you going to do that by attacking our crew? They put their time in so we can come out here and wrestle and you attack them? You ungrateful p**ck.

As for me? I’ve put my heart and soul into this company. Mine and Alanis’ company. Fine, maybe I’ve had a lot of opportunities, but that’s because I stepped up, I showed I had the quality to deserve them. Maybe if you and your ass backward followers did that, then you’d have the same opportunities. Truth is, only opportunity I wanna give you is the opportunity to get your neck re-aligned after I dream drop it in half…p**ck. (D+)

Matthew Keith vs Freddie Datsun
Keith refuses to talk Datsun seriously to start this…until Datsun lands a big clothesline and a series of elbow drops. Keith tries to stall, but Datsun hits a suplex and attempts the Patriot Press, forcing Keith to bail to the floor.

Keith comes back in and uses cheap shots to take control, maintaining his dominance with his speed and superior wrestling. A Neutron Plex gets a close two count, but Datsun makes the ropes on a Proton Lock attempt. Keith lures Datsun to the centre of the ring and attempts the hold again, but Datsun breaks. DDT from Keith – no, Patriot Press from Datsun! Ref Graveson counts the cover, 1 – 2….3!

Winner – Freddie Datsun @ 16:25 (C-)

In the crowded locker room, Bulldozer Brandon Smith taunts Jameson

Smith: “…his night!?! How many of these losers have said that? Devine, Gumble, Frankie Perez…the fact is, when it matters I get it done. Title fight, Bulldozer gets the win. Fine, ya got me to tap out in a tag match…that meant nothing. With the title on the line, it’s a different story…it’s a different ball game.

Truth is, you’re resilient, I’ll give you that…but winning the title ain’t about surviving, it’s about taking your opportunities and making them count…Marksman, your dreams bout to be shot down.” ©

Genghis Rahn vs Darryl Devine
No introductions here – both men go at it from the off. Rahn wins a slugfest, but takes a dropkick and spills to the floor! Plancha from Devine, then a DDT on the concrete! Rahn staggers back into the ring…and evades Devine Intervention. Devine back to his feet quickly…then down quickly, thanks to a shoulder check. Rahn with a piledriver, cover….no, Devine out at 2.

Rahn beats down Devine in the corner, drawing Graveson’s ire. The official calls for a break, but gets pushed down by Rahn. This draws KC Glenn to ringside, who has had the Church of Anarchy’s George Wolfe distract opponents during Glenn’s matches. Rahn hits his Arizona Gutbuster on Devine but there is no official to count. As Rahn slaps Graveson, Glenn dives into the ring and pulls him away. Rahn studies Glenn as Devine stumbles to his feet. Rahn shoves Glenn, Tune Up The Sunshine Band to Devine…wait, what? The crowd are stunned as Glenn revives Graveson, the confused official seeing Rahn blast Devine with Rahn To The Hills…academic three count follows…

Winner – Genghis Rahn @12:28 (D+)

We cut to the locker room, where Kirk Jameson is getting ready…taping his hands up, we see the intensity in the challenger’s eyes… (D)

Both men start slowly – Jameson wants to avoid a slugfest, while Bulldozer is wary of a quick submission attempt. Bulldozer eventually catches Jameson with a clothesline, but ‘The Marksman’ rallies with a basement dropkick and a neckbreaker. Jameson focuses his attack on ‘Dozer’s neck, weakening it for The Kirk-Hold, surprising the champion with a piledriver that leads to a two count.

Jameson looks for a Bullseye…and kinda gets it, his knee hitting Smith’s jaw as Smith belly to belly suplexes him. Both men go down, Graveson counting both men out. Smith is up first, but down first as a second Bullseye hits! 1 – 2 – 3! No, Bulldozer had his foot on the rope! Jameson drags Bulldozer up to his feet and looks for a bulldog…which Smith turns into a Kirk- Hold!!! Jameson writhes in his own hold, will he tap? Bulldozer cranks the neck vice on…Jameson frees his neck and rolls on top of Bulldozer 1, 2 …2 and 3/4!

Both men are up and exchanging punches, Bulldozer wins and lifts Jameson into the Backdrop Driver! 1 – 2 – 3! Bulldozer celebrates…until Graveson points out the late, late kickout. Frustrated, Bulldozer hikes Jameson into the Inverted Piledriver…Jameson wriggles out! Bulldozer grabs Jameson and elevates him into the Backdrop Driver, Jameson shifts his weight in mid air – Bulldog! Jameson quickly applies the Kirk Hold!!! Graveson checks Bulldozer…he’s fighting the hold…no, no he’s tapping! New champion!!!

A weary, but ecstatic Kirk Jameson celebrates as he becomes the third man to hold the EPW Intercontinental Title…taking the moment in, he raises the title above his head, to the approval of the EPW faithful! (D+)

It was 3am in the morning…I’d persuaded the owner to let us have a private ‘Fell On Black Days’ party…providing we behaved ourselves…

“Darryl, THE ARCHITECT may have been sick in the bathroom.”

“Right…where about?”

“THE ARCHITECT believes it was on the wicker chair-“

“Architect, bathrooms don’t have wicker chairs-“

As the horror sunk in, Alanis grabbed my arm.

“Hey, Darryl…I’m not feeling too good…I’m gonna go home if that is ok?"

“Sure…do you want me to order a cab?”

“Katie is going to drive me back…she’s on antibiotics, so she’s designated driver. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Ok, Alanis…love you.”

“Love you too Darryl, night.”

Alanis waved as Katie grabbed her arm and ushered her to the car…Katie kinda gave me a frustrated look…maybe I should stop booking her to date an Elvis Impersonator?

…nah.

As I watched Alanis and Katie go, I saw Matthew Keith make a bee-line for me out of the corner of my eye.

“Hey, Darryl?"

“Matty, you ok?”

“I’m good, I’m good. Look, I need to go get some sleep. Just wanted to say thanks for the opportunity, I’ve enjoyed it.”

I smiled. Despite the problems with his brother’s contract, I got on well with Matty. I knew he was too talented to be around Seattle for long and NOTBPW agreed with me…

“Hey, it’s been great having you around. You’re welcome back any time…tell Greg I’m sorry-“

Matty laughed

“He’ll have forgotten about it by now. He’s on the go so much he never has a chance to get angry.”

“Well that’s good…take care, don’t be a stranger.”

“I won’t, later Darryl.”

A handshake later and Matty was off to his hotel…I found myself basking in the moment; another young talent who could say he wrestled for EPW, another wrestler we could said we-

“Which of you mother**kers has been sick in my bedroom?”

Don’t say anything, don’t say any-

“THE ARCHITECT was sick, but in the bathroom, you know, on that wicker chair?"

Time to go home...
