AWF TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: Herculez vs Marco De Francesco ©

Herculez wins, but by DQ, leaving MDF as the champion.

OPEN CHALLENGE: Joe Havanna vs ????

On the basis he had some promo time.

Theo Barkley vs Wilson Hancock

Seems more viable at the moment, but could easily go either way.

AWF WORLD TITLE MATCH: Mountain Albert © vs Timothy Hawk w/Casey Skym as Special Guest Referee

Tempted to call a draw, but I see Skym inadvertantly doing something that ends up costing Hawk the match. It seems far too early for Mountain to drop the strap, so somehow he's retaining it.

Just a quick note to say that this isn't dead, I've just been a bit too busy over the last week to sit down and finish off the show. In fact, I haven't even played TEW for a week or so! Expect something by this weekend at the latest :)

DRAKE RICHARDS

Last week I was sitting at home watching the broadcast when I saw Core run his mouth about how he's the demon's aunt and the devil's uncle. While Core happily recalls our First Blood match at the Hollywood Horror Show he forgets to mention the match we had on Shockwave last month – a match that I WON! I've been around this block a few times and I've seen Core's career from start to finish. He's a good fighter, a decent wrestler, but he believes his own hype. Core isn't a demon reborn, he's an oversized comic book character with a bad scriptwriter. If Core wants to prove himself maybe he ought to wrestle me one-on-one, without any gimmicks attached. So, what do you think big man!?

[sure enough the lights go out and a lightning flash reveals Core is stood right beside Drake Richards!]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Core.jpg

CORE

What do I think!? I think that you are weak. I think that you are nothing but a shadow of your former self, clinging to glory days that 90% if this audience have only seen in highlight reels. You challenge the “Devil's Nightmare” and the end of your career comes ever closer, Richards. I accept, Drake Richards, but let me tell you one thing – you better make sure you enjoy these next few weeks because I hear Hell's pretty welcoming at this time of year.

JAZZ vs MADISON vs ROSANA vs SERENITY vs SUMMER vs NEVAEH

-If fans were expecting this six-way bout to be somewhat chaotic then they were not disappointed...

-With all six Starlets battling in the ring at once this match became part battle royal and part tag team contest as various wrestlers teamed up to gain something of an advantage.

-The main battle in the ring was fought between Jazz and Summer, although an interesting couple of minutes saw former friends Rosana and Serenity take centre stage.

-In multi-person matches getting the pinfall is usually difficult as the other members of the match break up the pin...

-...but with so many rivals to focus on the rest of the Starlets were obviously to Jazz hitting Summer with the
Cartwheel Splash
...

-...and only when referee Shane Tedeschi had slapped the mat for a second time did the other girls turn around.

-Of course, by then it was too late and although Jazz and Summer were soon attacked by the other four competitors trying desperately to continue the match the bell was already ringing.

YOUR WINNER IN 7:43 AND #1 CONTENDER TO THE STARLETS TITLE...JAZZ!

MARCO DE FRANCESCO © vs
“World's Strongest Man”
HERCULEZ

-Marco De Francesco has never won a match against Herculez and there was a definite air of trepidation on the part of the AWF Television champion.

-Always wary of his opponent's strength advantage, Francesco wrestled at arms length, and tried to knock Herculez off his feet wherever possible.

-Herculez, however, seemed less interested in winning the match and more about proving himself as a one-man wrecking machine.

-After several rule infringements and warnings from the referee within just a handful of minutes, Herculez was walking a thin line...

-Which he soon crossed after heading outside for a weapon...

-...and nearly taking Marco De Francesco's head off with a thunderous chair shot!

YOUR WINNER IN 5:48 VIA DQ AND STILL AWF TELEVISION CHAMPION...MARCO DE FRANCESCO!

KITTY REARDON

Vincent, last week you were attacked by Herculez. Clearly that attack hasn't affected you too badly – do you have anything to say to Herculez?

VINCENT I PARKER

Katherine, Katherine, Katherine. Girl, you know that Vincent I Parker isn't affected by a little thing like Herculez. The “World's Strongest Man” ought to be renamed the “AWF's Dumbest Man” because there isn't a single thought going through that man's head. Last week I was ready to talk to the millions of my fans and because I'm ambitious enough, charismatic enough and confident enough, to speak my mind I get blindsided by a freight train. 2K13 is the year of VIP. Girl, Herculez doesn't even register on my radar. Keep it real.

JOE HAVANNA

Last week I made a challenge in front of everyone and yet no one comes forward. Perhaps it is because I am the most feared competitor in this company, or PERHAPS it is because this company is filled with cowards? Maybe I need to send out written invites next time, because the lack of competition in this company is ridiculous...

[Havanna's rants are cut short by the theme music of former Tag Team champion Jonah Christensen. Already in his ring gear and charging towards the ring, Jonah makes it clear that he is here to accept Havanna's challenge...]

JOE HAVANNA vs JONAH CHRISTENSEN

-Intent on proving his high self-confidence to be warranted Joe Havanna started this match at full speed...

-...and while Jonah Christensen has proven himself a decent competitor in the past he was out-wrestled throughout this short match.

-Havanna didn't waste as much time gloating as in his previous match but he had enough time to taunt the fans before hitting his opponent with the
Cuban Missile Crisis (Implant DDT)
to secure the much-deserved victory.

YOUR WINNER IN 5:05...JOE HAVANNA!

CASEY SKYM

Thank you, thank you. Two weeks ago the very first Casey Skym Challenge match took place. The “Celtic Fire” Mitch Mulconry put up a decent fight, but in the end he was defeated by yours truly, this man right here! However, not all was lost for the man from Dublin, as the fans had their say...the question is, did they vote yay or nay. The answer is...

MITCH MULCONRY

Shut up Skym, everyone knows damn well what the answer is going to be. The people in this audience haven't seen anything like me before. They haven't seen a wrestling MACHINE like me before. These fans know that the future of wrestling is in my hands and they will pay to see me kick a** for years to come. The fact you are dragging this nonsense out for so long just proves to me that you want me on this TV show for as long as possible.

CASEY SKYM

…well, the answer is...YES! But then, thanks to Mitch Mulconry you already knew that! Mitch, anything else to say?

MITCH MULCONRY

Watch out Skym, watch out locker-room, watch out AWF audience. No on is safe, no one is beyond my reach and no one is going to stop me.

While fans may have expected the camera to follow TB into the arena, it stops and spins around at the sound of a familiar voice...

“Primetime”
THEO BARKLEY vs
“Every Woman's Dream”
WILSON HANCOCK
w/Adrienne

-An angry Theo Barkley seemed determined to get this match over as quickly as possible.

-After every suplex and every big hit, “Primetime” went straight for the pin, only for Hancock to kick out.

-This saw Barkley become increasingly frustrated with the referee who he continually accused of “counting slow”.

-When Hancock kicked out of a pin after a belly-to-back suplex and 2.5 slaps of the mat Barkley went crazy...

-And after arguing with the referee shoved the official over!

-Unsurprisingly when the referee got back to his feet this match was done.

YOUR WINNER IN 6:46 VIA DISQUALIFICATION...WILSON HANCOCK!

IN-RING

[if Barkley seemed angry before the bell then he was past boiling point once it had finished ringing. Throwing the referee over the top rope, Barkley turned his attentions back to Hancock and while Adrienne stood by pleading for mercy, the former basketball star hit his Primetime Press (Military Press Slam) finisher on his opponent not once, but twice. Pushing straight past a stunned Adrienne, Barkley headed up the ramp past the EMTs rushing to check on “Every Woman's Dream”.]

Fans of Casey Skym, however, are used to his 'unusual' appearance and he gets a huge ovation as he makes his way down the aisle...]

TIMOTHY HAWK vs
“The Destroyer”
MOUNTAIN ALBERT ©
w/Nikita

-This match started off slowly, with both men cautious about diving in too quickly.

-After each tie up, the rivals stared each other down as the circled the ring.

-After a couple of minutes of back and forth things began to pick up and Mountain Albert soon took control, focusing his strength and power on Hawk's back with several backbreakers and bear hugs.

-Every time Hawk fought back Albert slipped to the outside to confer with Nikita who spent much of the match barking orders at her World champion charge.

-Casey Skym did his best to keep things in line, and for the most part succeeded...

-...however the stipulation screamed shenanigans and sure enough in the twelfth minute Hawk ducked a clothesline...only for Skym to be clobbered by Albert instead!

-Albert, taken by surprise, hesitated just long enough for Hawk to grab him from behind...
Justice Slam (Full Nelson Slam)
!

-Hawk went for the pinfall...1....2....3.....only Casey Skym was still down and out! Hawk jumped up and attempted to revive the felled Man In Charge...

-...which gave Nikita the opportunity to slip Albert the World title...and the champion nearly took Hawk's head off with it!

-Albert went for the pin and with Skym still out, Nikita demanded another referee be brought to the ring.

-Sure enough Shane Tedeschi appeared to reluctantly count to three!

YOUR WINNER IN 15:34 AND STILL AWF WORLD CHAMPION...MOUNTAIN ALBERT!

=JANUARY WEEK FOUR ROUND UP=

THE RATINGS WAR

Despite it's biggest Shockwave main event in months, Mountain Albert vs Timothy Hawk, this week's show suffered a 0.1 drop in its Arcadia rating to end the week with 2.51. That drop gives the show its lowest rating of the year. No one from the company has yet to respond to rumours that the shock rating is being blamed on current World champion Mountain Albert or whether the drop will cut short his run at the top.

The AWF wasn't the only company to put its World title on the line this week as former AWF star Sebastian Curtis defeated Ryan Doherty to become the new PWI Champion. Doherty had managed twelve successful defences since winning the title in April 2012. PWI also suffered a viewership drop, but with a much more manageable 0.03 to take them to a respectable 2.95.

Over January, average viewing figures for the two shows were as follows; Shockwave (2.57) and Integrity, Tradition & Honour (2.90).

2013 WAR SO FAR: PWI 4 – 0 AWF

AWF TAKING THE BATTLE TO PWI

Continuing their current scheduling pattern of one month in the South West and the next touring another region of the US, the Awesome Wrestling Federation will be filming its next four shows from New England. Interestingly, the AWF have sold out their first two show of February in the Eire Centre in Boston, Massachussets - the home of bitter rivals Pro Wrestling Integrity.

AWF LOOKING FOR SECOND CASEY SKYM CHALLENGER

With Mitch Mulconry now officially under contract at the AWF (alongside his PPA commitments with PWSUX), the company are looking for a second signing for this month's Casey Skym Challenge. Inside sources are claiming that Artemis Dream, Brady Taylor and Tony Pearce are among the names being discussed. The second Casey Skym Challenge is booked for the 10th February show.

Ricky Fyre vs Leroy Winters

Could go either way but to me it looks like Fyre has slighly more going on at the moment.

Rosana vs Madison

No idea to be honest, but Rosana have had slighly more screen time so far so I go with her.

Derrick Rollins vs Drake Richards

Richards is the main eventer while Rollins isn´t really even close.

Jean-Claude Giroux vs Vincent I Parker

I would think that V.I.P talked himself on a bad spot in last show by declaring that Herculez isn´t even on his radar.

Phew, nearly missed these...

Ricky Fyre vs Leroy Winters

Fyre's hot right now.

Rosana vs Madison

*shrugs* Rosana seems to get more air time.

Derrick Rollins vs Drake Richards

They're not feuding and Rollin's isn't in a position that suggest he's going over here.

Jean-Claude Giroux vs Vincent I Parker

Big words from VIP last time out, but I'm not convinced he can back them up.

NIKITA

Stand up and applaud your AWF WORLD CHAMPION...MOUNTAIN ALBERT!

[unsurprisingly, instead of a standing ovation the crowd boos instead...]

NIKITA

For the past month Timothy Hawk has whined about winning back the AWF World title, while Mountain Albert has been the perfect champion. Cool, calm, collected and honourable. No one in this company even comes close to his ability, or his personality and Timothy Hawk got exactly what he deserved last week.

MOUNTAIN ALBERT

I said Timothy Hawk would get a shot at the title. I said I'd beat the babyface to a pulp. I keep my word. Nothing in this backwater is going to stop the most devastating professional wrestler in the world from leading this company out of the dark ages and into the modern era. This is no longer a place for dinosaurs, hasbeens, and cheap babyfaces who are all smiles and no guts.

NIKITA

Timothy Hawk was shown up as the pathetic excuse for an athlete that he is, while Mountain Albert once again proved just how LUCKY you lot are to have him as your champion.

TIMOTHY HAWK vs
“Dangerous”
CHRIS CANDELL

-In terms of pushes there was a huge difference between former AWF World champion Timothy Hawk and former fitness freak Chris Candell heading into this match, but once inside the squared circle the pair put on a very good match.

-Candell got in some early offence and made sure to work on the back area that had been weakened by Mountain Albert during last week's show...

-Hawk however quickly fought back and despite being in some discomfort managed to gain the upper hand.

-As close as the match was Hawk's seventh minute
Justice Slam (Full Nelson Slam)
was enough to seal the victory.

YOUR WINNER IN 7:16...TIMOTHY HAWK!

[The action cuts backstage where AWF Starlets champion Dani is showing several of her HOLLER! co-stars around the various locker-rooms and introducing them to her friends in the road crew when suddenly the crowd parts and Jazz spears Dani from behind! The two divas end up in an entertaining brawl, while Dani's HOLLER! friends simply stand by and cheer her on. In the end, it takes the efforts of several staff members to separate the two rivals and the segment ends with Ace Lomax looking a little worse for wear having taken an accidental boot to the face for his troubles!]

“Blazin”
RICKY FYRE vs LEROY
“Harsh”
WINTERS

-A decent bout that highlighted Winters' experience and Fyre's sheer determination to win.

-Winters began the match the strongest by keeping Fyre as close to the mat as possible and restricting his use of high-flying and running moves.

-However, Fyre was happy to let Winters' control the opening exchanges in order to tire the veteran.

-The tactic worked well and after using the ropes to choke Winters and a headlock to weaken him further, Fyre went for his
Unleash The Fyre (Tiger Driver)
finisher and secured the victory.

YOUR WINNER IN 7:21...RICKY FYRE!

CASEY SKYM

Do you know what Ricky Fyre? I signed you to this company because I happen to think you're a damn good wrestler. Now, it so happens that I didn't realise that your attitude stinks but that's okay. For now. This feud between yourself, Silva Dolla, Theo Barkley and Wilson Hancock, however, is getting a little out of hand. Now this man right here knows a thing or two about feuds getting a little bloody, but I have to take into account that four of my biggest stars are one step away from the ER. So, in an attempt to reconcile your differences for you, next week - right here in the Eire Centre in Boston, Massachussets – we are going to have a four way match for the United States title!

TOWERBLOCK

GIROUX! I know you're in this building somewhere you coward. Get your a** out here now and tell me what the hell you've done with my car!

[After a couple of frustrating seconds, Giroux appears but wisely remains at the top of the ramp...]

JEAN-CLAUDE GIROUX

Your car? Am I supposed to know something about this? Oh, you mean that rustbucket I borrowed last week...that's right. Now...where did I put it, I wonder?

TOWERBLOCK

Rustbucket!? That's a custom-made car...

JEAN-CLAUDE GIROUX

It would have to be to hold your weight!

TOWERBLOCK

Funny man, Giroux, but when I find my car you'll be laughing through the other side of your face!

JEAN-CLAUDE GIROUX

Bring it on!

[Towerblock, incensed, clambers out of the ring and begins to charge up the aisle but by the time he reaches the stage Giroux is long gone through the backstage area...]

ROSANA vs MADISON

-A fairly uninspiring match.

-Rosana dominated for much of the short bout, and it was of little surprise to the crowd that the Brazilian superstar ended up the victor after hitting her
Dazzling Beauty (Spinning Heel Kick)
finisher.

YOUR WINNER IN 4:11...ROSANA!

THE ENEMIES OF THE STATE vs THE CHRISTENSENS

-Another lacklustre match, no doubt thanks to the lack of tag team gold to drive both the competitors and the audience.

-Both teams excelled at the quick tags and fluid personnel changes that typify well-oiled wrestling teams but it was the duo of Binx and Stone that spent most of the match in control.

-In the end, a sixth minute
Stone's Throw (T-Bone Suplex)
was enough to put this one to bed.

OMRI STONE

We know that by now you're pretty used to us wearing wigs...

REVOLVER BINX

...and ridiculous costumes...

OMRI STONE

We've been mocking Casey Skym, Ezekiel Trillion...anybody we feel like. Do you know why we've been taunting Casey Skym? Casey Skym claims to be “The Man In Charge” but he's nothing but a washed up old timer who made his name carving up other wrestlers in Japan. This is entertainment. That...that is a blood sport.

REVOLVER BINX

However, we were ready for a change when Skym came in. He begged us to stay. Offered us contract terms even jerks like Drake Richards and Chaperone don't get. Then he dropped the tag team division. Fine. We'll carry on regardless, we'll make the transition to singles wrestling and we'll do a damn good job.

OMRI STONE

And then something like this match happens. A tag team match between four rivals is one thing. A tag team match between two teams with nothing to fight for? We're here for the paycheck, but we're not here to be made a laughing stock...

REVOLVER BINX

That's why the games stop. The mockery stops. We've been too easy on those in charge and they clearly didn't get the message.

OMRI STONE

We're breaking down the barriers, tearing up the rule books and we're making a stand. This isn't about two men. This isn't about Omri Stone, Revolver Binx or even 'stars' like Drake Richards, Timothy Hawk or Mountain Albert. This is about taking the establishment down from the inside. But the best thing of all? We're not a tag team...we're an army!

“The Re-Evolution”
DERRICK ROLLINS vs
“The Icon”
DRAKE RICHARDS

-Anyone who expected this match to be one-sided was proved wrong as Derrick Rollins put on a real spectacle against former World champion Drake Richards.

-The two men went toe-to-toe in a match that looked like it could last all night.

-However, proceedings were knocked sideways when the monstrous Core appeared at the top of the stage!

-Core began slowly walking down the ramp, but he seemed to be in no hurry at all.

-Richards, however, was distracted just long enough for Rollins to go for a small package...

-...only for Richards to reverse at the last minute and steal the victory for himself!

Despite the bell still ringing, Richards' full attention is upon the “Devil's Nightmare” while the monster simply stands at the base of the entrance ramp. http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Towerblock.jpg

OFFICER

And you can confirm that this is your licence plate, sir?

TOWERBLOCK

Yes, yes, that's it. Now....WHERE IS MY CAR!?!?!?

OFFICER

I...er...I don't know how to tell you this sir...

[Towerblock lifts the officer off the floor by his shirt collars...]

OFFICER

Sir...the car in question is currently being pulled from the Charles River Basin as we speak...

[Towerblock drops the man to the floor, roars and then punches a hole into a (fortunately for TB, thin) wall! Seemingly unhurt by his own violent outburst, Towerblock stomps away in the direction of the arena's main entrance, no doubt on his way to the Charles River Basin!]

“The Parisien Playboy”
JEAN-CLAUDE GIROUX vs
“The MVP”
VINCENT I PARKER

-Both of these men have had a great start to 2013 and that continued in this match.

-Much like the Rollins – Richards bout, this featured superb technical wrestling and was very even for much of the encounter.

-However, while Core's interference had an impact on the outcome of that last match, no such distractions were needed for the main event.

-In the ninth minute Vincent I Parker almost hit his finisher, the
Out Of The Park (Uranage)
but somehow Giroux just managed to escape.

-Parker continued to edge the bout, but Giroux slowly began to fight back, using his experience and excellent knowledge of the heelish tricks to gain an advantage.

-After nearly thirteen minutes of excellent wrestling the Frenchman finally secured the victory with a
Playboy Press (Lifting Spinebuster)
.

YOUR WINNER IN 12:43...JEAN-CLAUDE GIROUX!

IN-RING

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Jean-ClaudeGiroux.jpg

JEAN-CLAUDE GIROUX

I hope everyone here has seen that Jean-Claude Giroux, the greatest French wrestler in the history of this business, is not only a man of passion, but a man of immense ability. Not only did I defeat the “MVP” of the AWF, I helped a friend in need when I informed the police where that idiot giant's car was parked. I am not a vindictive man, nor am I one to hold a grudge. So when I saw the opportunity to help how could I resist, eh? Oh, and Towerblock – have fun pulling your car out of the river!

PREDICTION CONTEST

Thanks again for all the predictions, we had quite a few perfect scores this time around! Here are the results at the half-way stage...

2nd Place with 11 points

MichiganHero, TheEnforcer and Sebsplex!

4th Place with 9 points

5th Place with 3 points

First time that i'm gonna post here so it's gonna be a 'long' post.

First of all, I really love the way that you have written Shockwave so far, it's clean, 'simple' but its heel of adictive!

I like each and every one of the 'changes' (Schedule, Casey Skym challenge and the no rematch clause), in fact, im gonna use it on my own game.

My favorite character has to be Joe Havanna, I really like that 'open invitation' that you did a week ago, it was perfect, and his interview in a 'shoot' way was amazing. BTW, starting speaking in spanish on his promos seems a great idea, like an 'Razor Ramon' promo.

In fact, in general I really like the way that you wrote the promos, and the 'shoots' one, like the ones that 'THE ENEMIES OF THE STATE' cuts this week.

I'm looking forward to see Artemis Dream on the Casey Skym Challenge (I'm a HCG guy)!

Well, i will end this post saying that this is a great, great diary! I'm enjoying this so much.

PD: I know that my english sucks, sorry about that.

Awesome diary, jhd! I've followed since the beginning and this diary has influenced me to start my 2nd AWF game. One question though, are you using the angle writer to do the promos? I've tried it a few times and I've noticed that a lot of them get good results.

=FEBRUARY WEEK ONE ROUND UP=

THE RATINGS WAR

After a terrible week last week, Shockwave has bounced back to it's opening 2013 rating with a 2.58 (up 0.07) on Arcadia. While still behind PWI in the ratings, the AWF management can take heart from the rise in viewership after this week's Integrity, Tradition & Honor suffered its biggest drop of the year and the second in as many weeks, ending up with a 2.87 average (down 0.08). PWI's main event saw Scott Hart defeat Ryan Doherty, while Ethan Paro defended his Television title against his brother's tag team partner Tyler Mercury.

2013 WAR SO FAR: PWI 5 – 0 AWF

TROUBLE BREWING BETWEEN THE STARLETS?

There are reports coming out of the Awesome Wrestling Federation that a major fight broke out before the show between Madison, real name Amy Ladner, and Summer (better known to indy fans as Chelsea Lane). Sources claim that Madison caused considerable damage to Summer's rental car when parking her own (personal) car at the arena. With Madison refusing to take responsibility, Summer was left to foot the bill. Casey Skym's reaction to the fight is currently unknown.

BIG DREAMS...BIG PAYCHECK

The Awesome Wrestling Federation desperately wants to beat PWI and in doing so has hired some top wrestling talent. With January's interim financial statements in it would seem that Ezekiel Trillion is aiming to buy his way to the top after the company suffered a near $290,000 loss for that month alone. The AWF are spending this month in the North East which, when accounting for added accommodation and travel, will no doubt add yet more expense. Fortunately for the roster, rumour has it Trillion has around $25m invested in the company so it'll be a while before the losses make any real impact on the running of the promotion.

First of all, thank you both for the feedback. It's always great to hear what people are enjoying and their thoughts in general :)

Thanks James. I haven't been using the angle writer, actually. I'm guilty of using the same few angles each time. Modern TV Opening is one of my favourites as are the Interview Taunt angles. I simply replace the "A, B and C argue" with something more detailed in the segment name so I can look back and recall what I was doing. As I'm doing a diary, it doesn't matter too much what the commentary says anyway.

First time that i'm gonna post here so it's gonna be a 'long' post.

Glad you're enjoying this so far, Andy! Joe Havanna is one of my favourites too. Each of my diaries tends to have a 'project'. Probably the most successful being John Greed in Under Pressure, but I think Joe Havanna may surpass that. The Enemies are going to be a lot of fun going forward as they become more and more disruptive.
