<p>You guys who want to edit in comments and stuff have time to - after being busy with work, the woman, and writing block, I only have about half of the show written. It will be done, no doubt about it, and I'd like to get it posted maybe over or right after this weekend; but I'm not making any promises.</p><p> </p><p>

PROTIP: Never let me book a 4 hour show again, guys. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Sorry to anybody who comes in here hoping its the show itself, but I just wanted to say that barring unforeseen circumstances, this is the 24(ish) hour prediction warning!!! I only have a few more matches to write, namely the main events, and as long as I don't crash tomorrow evening, I should fairly easily have that done.

The two have a very well-balanced match, with Austin never able to cheat his way into a full advantage as Duggan brawls back with hard right hands anytime he tries to. Duggan even takes care of Colonel Parker, slamming him and Austin with a double noggin knocker during a consult outside the ring! With no other recourse, Stunning Steve surprises everybody – especially Tony Schiavone – by twisting his style into something that Jim never expected: clean mat wrestling. While Duggan keeps waiting for the underhanded tactics to come, Austin keeps him guessing with a variety of holds, counterholds, and even a clean break now and then, and by the time Duggan adjusts his game plan to match it, then Steve goes in for the kill, blasting him with a modified version of his Stable partner’s Diamond Cutter to secure the victory.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winner and STILL WCW United States Heavyweight Champion in 15:58 : Stunning Steve Austin</em></p><p><em> Rating: C+</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Sting.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/GeneOkerlund.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> Mean Gene is backstage where Sting is still in his street clothes with a WCW hat on. Okerlund asks Sting for some thoughts about tonight’s huge matchup, and Sting has a lot to say. He talks about how everybody said that Hogan versus Flair at the Bash at the Beach was a match they called “Clash of the Titans”. But Sting thinks this match should have a different title than that, he thinks that Hogan and Flair should have been called “Battle of the 80’s Legends”. He says that tonight though? Tonight will be the night that the eighties meets the nineties, as the hero of yesteryear goes up against the hero of the day, and the people watching this huge night at home or here in the Kiel Center in St. Louis will be the biggest winners. But not the only winner – as “The Stinger” plans to be the winner of the day, when he wraps Hollywood Hogan up in the Scorpion Deathlock, “and Hollywood, Hulkster, whatever you want to call yourself, it doesn’t matter, because there are only – TWO WAYS! Out of the Scorpion; and that’s either you scream ‘I quit!’ or I break you in two!”</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: B</em></p><p><em> Sting gimmick change to Fan Favorite rated a 94. Badd w/Teddy Long</strong></p><p><strong> Referee: Randy Anderson</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> This one also has become a very personal match, as Page blames Badd for his Diamond Doll leaving his side. The animosity between these two has grown exponentially over the past few months, and it shows in this match as the normally cool, collected DDP goes for broke on seemingly every punch. Johnny is the one taking his time and mapping out moves this time, in a complete role reversal from their earlier matches. Jesse surmises that Badd likely took this match not just to defend his honor in the case about Kim, but also because a win over DDP would probably get him back to having a title shot at Austin again. Long does his best to nullify Parker on the outside, which means this one stays as a one-on-one matchup for the duration of it. In the end, the pride of Page against the aspirations of Badd proves to be the deciding factor in the match. Johnny goes up, looking for the shooting star press that he used to defeat Page at WrestleWar, but Dallas rolls too far away for Badd to try it. When Johnny gets down on the mat again, he sends Page in for a back body drop, but DDP blocks it and lifts him up for the D-D-Pancake! Not able to capitalize immediately, the match continues. Badd gets an advantage and goes for a springboard clothesline, but DDP thinks fast and grabs him, dropping Badd with a Diamond Cutter! This time Page is right there, and he gets a three count!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winner in 9:44 : Diamond Dallas Page</em></p><p><em> Rating: C</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWUSTag.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RickyMorton.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RobertGibson.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/TomPrichard.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/JimmyDelRay.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>WCW United States Tag Team Championships</strong></p><p><strong> The Rock ‘n Roll Express vs. The Heavenly Bodies</strong></p><p><strong> Referee: Mark Curtis</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> The final battle between the Rock ‘n Roll Express and the Heavenly Bodies comes up next, and Tony says that the way this is being enforced is that after tonight, neither of them can wrestle for the US Tag Team titles as long as the other holds the championships. Morton and Del Ray start off, Jimmy showing off his dancing moves to the crowd before they get going. But once they get rolling, the Southern Style Tag Team Wrestling is in full effect. Unfortunately, the crowd is of course appreciative and will clap along, but they really want to see something other than Memphis heel tactics and babyface comeback spots. Especially given that these guys have pretty much done this match every time, just with variation on this or that heat segment. And the crowd really find little more than appreciation in the ending, which features Morton and Gibson hitting a double fistdrop to pin Del Ray and retain the championships.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winners and STILL WCW United States Tag Team champions in 10:28 : Rock ‘n Roll Express</em></p><p><em> Rating: C-</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>“Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright vs. Devon Storm</strong></p><p><strong> Referee: Mickey Jay</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Does it surprise anybody that this is pretty much just a random squash match? Hayes may have a size disadvantage, but he makes up for it by fighting back at every chance he can. He shows a lot of heart in this battle against his former running mate, proving himself as a formidable foe against his much stronger opponent. Jesse says that he talked to Terry earlier tonight and he said that he doesn’t want to be called “Bamm Bamm” anymore, as it was a nickname that associates him with other people, and he plans to be his own man from now on – no matter who he has to hurt to prove it. The best part of this one is that all the time these two spent teaming has yielded good chemistry between them. No matter how many times Michael gets up, Gordy is right there to knock him back down, and Patrick seems conflicted when Gordy hits a running clothesline in the corner that snaps Michael’s head back brutally. Terry pulls him out and locks in the Oriental Spike while Hayes is woozy, and shakes him around viciously. Patrick checks on Hayes, and looking in his eyes, he calls for the bell, stopping this match prematurely.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winner by referee stoppage in 10:09 : Terry Gordy</em></p><p><em> Rating: C+</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/HulkHogan2.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> Rick Martel comes out to the ring, waiting on his match with what is supposed to be the newest member of the Kings of Wrestling. Instead, Hollywood Hogan and The Queen come out, and Hogan takes the microphone to say that Martel really should have jumped on this bandwagon, because he’s cut from the same cloth – people who are great, who have been great before WCW, but now are demoted to languishing in its ranks. The pro-WCW crowds obviously boo that loudly, as Martel himself tells him to get on with it. Hogan does, saying that he’s found a man who, once Hollywood is gone, has the potential and the skills to eclipse even he in the world! And that is why, while Hogan will remain ‘Hollywood’, he introduces us to the next big thing, the newest member of the Kings of Wrestling, you can call him the Prince of Wrestling – California Kip!</p><p> </p><p> “Buddy Holly” by Weezer plays, and out comes – Billy Gunn! </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Kip.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> The former Billy Gunn has joined with the Kings of Wrestling, and he comes down to the ring with an arrogant smile on his face. Martel plays this match straight, his much superior experience advantage keeping him in this match for its entirety. Kip, though, is a brash young man with a lot to prove, and he also has Hart watching out for him on the outside. Martel neutralizes him by keeping his attention in the ring – despite a fan’s sign in the front row proclaiming “Z-Man for President” – but not being prepared for his opponent works against Rick, and Kip is able to block out of the boston crab by grabbing the ropes. After a quick comeback, Kip picks Martel up and hits a swinging sideslam that Jesse says that he hears Hart over his megaphone calling the “Silicon Valley Slam” to get the win.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winner in 10:02 : California Kip</em></p><p><em> Rating: C-</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RonSimmons.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Butcher.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/JimmyHart2.jpg</span><p> <strong>Ron Simmons vs. The Butcher w/Jimmy Hart</strong></p><p><strong> Referee: Nick Patrick</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Even now that he’s on the side of the good guys facing the Kings of Wrestling, one thing is for sure about Ron Simmons – people ought not to make him mad. And that is what’s happened to lead to this match, as the Kings slighted him by not paying him the way they did Vader, and now The Butcher pays for their neglect with a pound of flesh. Butcher may be a well-established superstar in his own right, but no matter what he does here, all Simmons has to do is throw him away and he’s only a brutal slam away from being right back in the forefront of this match. Even when Butcher tries to lock on his old standby sleeperhold, Ron only fades for a moment before backing into the turnbuckle to break it and sit Butcher in the corner. Brad and Booker start this one, their clash in styles very evident. When BG enters, this one becomes a straight brawl, as he doesn’t have the technical wrestling down like his brother does. Big Stevie Ray comes in and cleans house, but falls victim to Parker’s cheating on the outside. Jesse points out that if the Armstrongs would win this one, it’d mean a clean sweep for the Stud Stable tonight, and that’d make the Colonel especially happy. Stevie gets used as a punching bag by both brothers, as they do a fine job of keeping him and Booker separate. About halfway through, though, Ray catches them both with a double clothesline and makes the tag, changing this one decidedly into Booker T running through both men. From there, this one becomes more about a war of attrition, as neither team will stay down no matter how many big moves get thrown at one another! The end comes when a miscommunication with Parker and Brad finds both men on their backs on the floor, leaving BG alone with both members of the Heat. Stevie plants him with a 110th Street Slam, but doesn’t go for the cover – instead he holds Brad at bay while Booker comes off the top with a flipping legdrop that keeps the championships firmly around the waist of the duo in a very, very good match.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winners and STILL WCW World Tag Team Champions in 15:54 : Harlem Heat</em></p><p><em> Rating: B-</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>A video plays showing the ongoing struggle the past six months between Cactus Jack and “Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan. A big Cactus clothesline takes the two men over the guardrail and up into the stands with the crowd! Randy Anderson gives chase, pleading with them to get back in the ring but unable to do anything other than just make suggestions. Up through the crowds they brawl, neither man seeming to gain much of an advantage despite numerous shots to one another with rubber trash cans, plastic chairs, and at one point Kevin picks up a piece of guardrail that he uses to ram Jack down a flight of stairs! They head up to the concession area, Jack throwing a soda in Kevin’s eyes before slamming his face down onto the stand! Security holds back the crowd up there as the crowd members in the arena watch on the big screen over the entrance way (WCW laid out some extra money for this show). The two brawl their way clear outside the arena and into the actual streets of St. Louis! Jesse Ventura sees a guy who he thinks he sold tickets to out there trying to scalp them, and Tony says that he doesn’t have to because this one is right out there for the world to see! They fight their way to a table selling fruits (Jesse: “Who has a fruit stand outside that would be still out there at 9 pm?”) and after they each play “smash the random fruit in one another’s face” for a little bit, Jack gets the upper hand by putting a bucket over Kevin’s head and hitting it with a shovel! Bubba’s size keeps him in the driver’s seat as long as he can keep Brian’s high flying offense to a minimum and keep the pace of the match slowed down and grounded. Brian still manages to work some in though, and each time the match picks up speed, he has the big man staggered. But each time, he fails at getting him off his feet. “The KoW’s Guardian Angel” gets a bit too confident when the match spills outside the ring though, and a full-speed charge causes him to go careening into the steel post when Pillman ducks out of the way! Brian rolls back in to hit a big suicide dive forearm smash that jacks the challenger’s jaw, and he sends him back into the ring. Brian then springboards into the ring to hit a big DDT, which Jesse dubs “the loaded gun”, and he falls on top to get a miraculous three count! It actually takes a hoard of officials to run in and break the four men up so that the match can get started! Dustin begins the match against Animal, and it’s obvious who has the strength advantage in that one, as Animal sends young Rhodes sailing across the ring off a lockup. Dustin hits the ropes to try and get some momentum on his side, but he runs into a brick wall when he tries a clothesline. A sign in the crowd reads “Where’s Barry Windham when you need him?” which makes Ventura chuckle. Animal stands tall after another shoulderblock attempt, but when he goes for a back bodydrop, Dustin drops to his back and punches him in the throat! Rhodes takes over for a bit, using his speed advantage to make the match get faster paced and keep his larger foe on the backfoot. Dustin tags in Steamboat, who does the same, coming in off the top rope with a big flying karate chop! A few armdrags knocks the Animal for a loop, and Rhodes comes back in, working on the big tree limb-type arm of Animal as Dusty keeps yelling instructions from the outside. One mistake is all it takes though, and Dustin runs into the corner to try a clothesline – likely looking for his clothesline/bulldog combo – and Animal straight knocks him into next week with a forearm to the jaw! Animal makes the tag, and Hawk comes in to pick the bones clean. Hawk utilizes every power move in his arsenal, a few times going for a pin but picking the boy up at the last moment before Randy’s hand hits the mat. Dusty is in his son’s face anytime he’s down by the ring apron, pleading with his son to “just give up!” but “The Natural” never does. Hawk and Animal start to tag in and out freely, punishing young Rhodes at will. Dustin kicks out with each pinfall though, his heart shining through every time. Jesse theorizes that he’s just like his father was at that age, too stupid to stay down when he’s beaten. Steamboat keeps the crowd pumped up from the crowd as best as he can, but the punishment is getting more and more brutal, as the Warriors are going after Dustin’s neck, clearly a setup for the Doomsday Device. At one point, Dustin seems out enough that Animal is about to finally get the three, but “The Dragon” breaks up the pin! The Road Warriors finally look done with this, getting more and more frustrated at Dustin’s continued kickouts. They both get in the ring and send Dustin into the turnbuckle, but he moves from the running clothesline coming at him from Animal, and when Hawk runs forward, Dustin hits a desperation scoop slam! Rhodes crawls over, and he barely makes the tag to Ricky! “The Dragon” comes in – pun intended – a house of fire, hitting both Warriors with martial arts strikes that keep them at bay. Steamboat takes over this match in a big way, as he goes up to the top. He flies with a double karate chop to both of them! He takes Hawk by an arm ringer and walks the length of the top rope, showing far better balance than any zombie living or deceased, and drives a chop down onto his shoulder! He goes for a pin, but only a two count before Animal breaks it up! Dustin flies into the ring and hits a series of knife-edge chops inspired by his friends Ric Flair and Arn Anderson, sending Animal back into the corner, before hitting a big clothesline that sends Animal out of the ring! Steamboat goes up to the top, and Tony says that the Dragon is about to take flight – but Dusty Rhodes sees that as well. While Anderson is trying to get Dustin and Animal back to their respective corners, Dusty gets on the apron and shakes the ropes, making Ricky drop onto the turnbuckle! Animal sends Dustin into the ringsteps viciously, before getting into the ring. He pulls Steamboat onto his shoulders and walks over – Hawk leaps off with the Doomsday Device! Hawk stays on top as Animal slinks out of the ring, and a huge smile of relief is seen on the face of “the American Outlaw” as Anderson counts the three.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winners in 15:38 : The Road Warriors</em></p><p><em> Rating: B+</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RicFlair.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/ArnAnderson.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> Arn Anderson is on his way toward the ring, and by his side is best friend Ric Flair. But “The Enforcer” has seen it all, and he takes it to Vader full force. Vader is taken aback by how much Arn is able to rock him with just a few well-placed punches. Onoo doesn’t get much of a chance to stick his nose into this one, as the veteran keeps a watch on him at all times, and any opportunity he tries to take sees him scattering away when Anderson threatens to knock his lights out! But Vader is, as always, a monster that can come back to life at a moment’s notice. Vader takes the lead through the inner part of the match, punishing Anderson with a viciousness typically reserved for the gridiron. Anderson comes back after dodging a Vader Bomb, but Vader also is able to block a DDT by shoving Arn into the turnbuckle. Vader spins into a powerslam away from the turnbuckle, and, given its Starrcade, goes up and makes use of a Vadersault to punctuate the end of the match.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winner in 17:37 : Vader</em></p><p><em> Rating: B</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>“Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff & Meng w/Jimmy Hart vs. The Playboys</strong></p><p><strong> Referee: Mickey Jay</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Biggest show of the year! This is still a competitive match, as Taylor and Stud put up a good fight. Piper comes back when Mark Curtis breaks things up by hitting a cheap shot to take over. Say what you will about Piper, his offence may be somewhat straight out of the 80s sometimes, but the fans eat it up when Flair sells for it. Ric reads this match straight out of the book, getting pummeled at just the right times and coming back at just the best moments. Were he not still so talented in his own right, Roddy would be a broomstick here. But he holds his own also, making the match into what could be a main event anywhere – just like it has been since the 80s. Piper uses a thumb to the eye to stay ahead, but Flair fires back with a low blow, and they seem to be moving into a battle of out-cheating one another. A blind charge from Piper spells the end though, as the number one contender for the World Heavyweight title ducks out of the way and rolls “Hot Rod” up, getting the three count for WCW.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winner in 16:01 : Ric Flair</em></p><p><em> Rating: B+</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Now the show moves toward the opposite side of the arena to the stage, where WCW fans are treated to Metallica!<p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/wTmC9tOtSTE?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> To the sound of “To Whom the Bell Tolls” out of the back comes the man called Sting! Tony notes that Sting looks to be featuring a somewhat darker appearance, rather than his usual bright colored facepaint and attire. Ventura commends Sting for it, as he says, “It looks like Sting has finally learned to fight fire with fire”. The two lock up and the crowd buzz is immense. Hogan pushes Sting off and poses, but Sting returns the favor, howling to his “Little Stingers” as he does! Hollywood fires back with some cheap tactics, resorting to an eye rake and fists to the face. Schiavone calls foul, saying that Hogan can obviously hear Randy Anderson admonishing him for his actions, but he’s ignoring him. Jesse says that maybe Hogan is trying to get disqualified so he doesn’t have to face Sting in a full match. He goes on a rant halfway into this match about how he told Tony and “that ape back North” for years that Hogan was bad news, but nobody ever listened to Bobby or him, and now WCW is paying the price for it. Tony has no idea what to say about that, except that he and all the fans were duped by someone that must be a very skilled con artist. Hogan locks on a reverse chinlock, but it seems to only fire Sting up, as he gets to his feet and shoves Hogan off of him, and fires off chops and punches that send the champion reeling! The Queen screams from the outside as Sting hits a big dropkick that sends Hollywood packing out of the ring!</p><p> </p><p> Hollywood comes back in with a cheap shot, pulling Sting’s throat down over the top rope, and he takes over with stomps, eye rakes, and taunts. Lots of taunts. The Queen even adds a slap from the outside, before blowing a kiss at the camera and proclaiming her innocence. Hogan’s taunting comes to a crescendo when he sets Sting up by sending him to the ropes for a big boot – but Sting catches his foot! Sting shoves the champion away, sending HIM to the ropes, and hitting a big boot of his own! The Stinger runs the ropes and hits a leg drop on Hogan! The Queen freaks out now, and she climbs up on the ring apron – she’s calling in the troops! But nobody runs out! On the big screen, we see that the KoW members are being held off by a crew of WCW guys! Sting walks over and slaps The Queen on the butt! Embarrassed, she jumps down, and Sting goes back to Hollywood. He runs forward and hits him with a Stinger Splash! He whips Hollywood to the other side and hits another one! A loud howl to the crowd, and Tony says that this one could be over very soon! Sting grabs the legs – nobody can save Hollywood now! He turns it over and sits down into the Scorpion Deathlock! The Queen tries to jump in and break it up, but with one hand Sting is able to push her away! Hogan can’t do anything but be in pain, and he submits! Tony talks about how huge a win this was for Sting and for WCW, but Jesse is more realistic – pointing out that while this was a huge win, it was still non-title. Tony says that it may not have brought the World championship back to WCW, it was a huge victory for the pride of WCW, as for the first time in years Hollywood Hogan has looked like a beaten man.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: B</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWlogo.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p>

<p>That was a great show that lived up to the Starrcade legacy. Here are some thoughts that jump out at me:</p><p> </p><p>

-The Macho Man? Feuding with arguably the breakout character of this diary, Brian Pillman, in a battle of unhinged lunatics? YES! YES! YES!</p><p> </p><p>

-Billy Gunn has always been a resounding "meh" to me, but he shouldn't get on my nerves too much if he never rises above midcard level (and he shouldn't, given how many stars there are in the KoW.)</p><p> </p><p>

-Surprised to see Sullivan gone. I thought you were going to transition Foley out of the Cactus Jack character and into something else.</p><p> </p><p>

-It should be interesting to see what you do with Sting for the next year, with him unable to challenge for the title. Does he still feud with the KoW, or does he find himself in a program with someone else? Guess we'll have to wait and see.</p><p> </p><p>

-I liked Regal attacking Hs. Hopefully that'll kick off a nice little feud that can help both guys out.</p><p> </p><p>

-I wonder how long it'll take before Austin's "modified Diamond Cutter" gets a name? <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

WCW Hotline: December 1994, Week 4

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWHotline.jpg

WCW Hotline for December 1994, Week 4

Option 1: Uncensored control center!

Option 2: WCW star let go!

Option 3: A special message from WCW superstar Sting!

Option 4: WCW Saturday Night preview!

Option 5: Last week's ratings!

Option 6: Backstage after WCW Starrcade!

Option 7: Music news!

Option 8: "Those Other Guys"!

Option 9: A gift from WCW Catalog!

Option 1: WCW Uncensored '95 control center!

The first major wrestling pay-per-view of the new year will be a very special concept, as all matches on the show will feature a special stipulation!

Option 2: WCW star let go!

Kevin Sullivan, as seen in his match at Starrcade, put his WCW job on the line and lost. This was a story, but it is also true, as Sullivan's contract was running out and WCW decided to give him one last hurrah and run on top as a member of the Kings of Wrestling after all his service over the years. Kevin was prominent on the list of wrestlers who are getting too old for the fans to take seriously anymore, and so WCW let him go. We wish him the best, and there are no hard feelings for a later return.

Option 3: A special message from The Stinger!

Hey WCW fans, Sting here! It felt soooo good to get my hands on the big cheese himself at Starrcade, but there are more heads to this snake than just that one! And that is why at WCW's new concept pay-per-view, Uncensored, I want to be given the best late Christmas present of all, and that's the second head of this hydra, Roddy Piper, across the ring in a one-on-one match! But not just any match - and that's what I'll be talking more about, on this coming WCW Saturday Night, when I call him down to the ring and go face to face with ol' "Hot Rod". You think the Stinger has gone too far before? You ain't seen nothin' yet!

Option 4: WCW Saturday Night preview!

For appreciation of its stars, WCW are - for the most part - giving it's wrestlers the last week of December off for the holidays. Most of WCW Saturday Night this week is going to be highlights from the year that was, 1994.

Option 5: Last week's ratings!

WCW Saturday Night faltered on BBC, dropping to a 5.86, but rose on TBS to a 6.48. It rose to a 0.11 on DSF. WCW Main Event, as the lead-in to Starrcade, netted a 0.71. WWF Monday Night Raw rose also to a 5.27.

Option 6: Backstage at WCW Starrcade!

Harley Race spoke to the athletes following the show, and in particular he praised Sting, Hollywood Hogan, and Brain Pillman for their performances. All three were said to be pretty pleased with being used as positive examples.

Option 7: Music news!

With the new policy of wrestlers with licensed music, it was only a matter of time: WCW Slam Jam Part 2 is to be released early next year! Featuring the new licensed themes of favorites like Sting, Stars 'n Stripes, Dusty Rhodes, Paul Orndorff, Rick Martel, and more, WCW look for it to be a smash hit!

Option 8: "That Other Wrestling Show"!

While WCW are letting their wrestlers take the week off, the WWF have them working right through the holidays. And such respect for their World champion, as they have aging Jerry Lawler defeating Bret Hart in the main event of the next Raw. Also, Tatanka defeated Jeff Jarrett in a match that nobody cares about, and why are Diesel and Shawn Michaels STILL fighting Men on a Mission?

Option 9: A Gift from the WCW Catalog!

Need a last-minute Christmas present? There are all kinds of deals in the WCW Catalog! If you use the WCW Hotline, you can get your loved ones all kinds of things at great prices, like the KoW spraypaint logo shirt for 10% off!

------------------

No predictions for this Saturday Night, because I don't intend on making it anything more than basically a clip show with a few quick, simple matches on it. But you know what that means.... the prediction contest is over!

First of all, the Starrcade prediction contest.

So after this next Saturday Night/Main Event, we move into 1995. I didn't think I would make it this far, and while sometimes my interest does wane a bit, I have no intentions of stopping yet! I have a lot of plans in mind for the next in-game year, and I hope everyone will come along for the ride!

“Happy Holidays!”

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Sting2.jpg

Sting is out to open the show, and he says that Starrcade was amazing! He talks about how the only bittersweet moment was that he couldn’t be out here right now holding the WCW World Heavyweight championship around his waist, but he says that “The Stinger” ain’t done yet! He says he has a few ideas in his knucklehead that could see him holding that belt by the end of the year! Sting says that he has a New Year’s Resolution he’s gonna make right now, and that’s to take it to the KoW all year long! He says that he has a huge announcement he wants to make at the end of the show, so stay tuned: same Stinger time, same Stinger channel!

Rating: A* (100! Too bad it was a minor angle! >_< )

WCW World Television Championship

“Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman vs. Brad Armstrong w/Colonel Robert Parker

This is a decent little match between two guys who know one another well. Tony talks about their history of bouts over the old WCW Light Heavyweight title two years ago, but no amount of saying how Brad was the last champion leaves any doubt to this match. 1992 was a long time ago, and The Loaded Gun leaping tornado DDT puts Brad down for the three count.

Winner and STILL WCW World TV Champ: Brian Pillman

Rating: C-

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RandySavage.jpg

Pillman takes a microphone, and he says that one thing is on his twisted mind tonight: Randy Savage! That brings out “The Macho Man” immediately, and Savage also has a microphone. He says that Brian has been dabbling in waters he ought not to have looked at, yeah, waters where the Macho Man is the shark, and he smells blood in the water, yeah! Pillman holds his own, saying that WCW is HIS home, not Randy’s, and that Savage is just pissed that he was an old man told by another old man that he couldn’t cut it anymore! Randy calls him a punk kid who needs a lesson, and that’s why Hollywood called him up! He says that just like Hogan and Piper, he has no love lost for any of them, but in times of need, birds of a feather, yeah they flock together! Savage is a King of Wrestling like none other, he isn’t here for the fame and glory like the rest, no; he’s here just to beat the snot out of punks like Pillman! Brian tells him that he isn’t afraid of a man who’s just an empty shell and has been an empty shell for years, so anytime he wants to shuffle his old ass to the ring, he’s got it! Randy starts heading for the ring, but out comes…

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/NickBockwinkel.jpg

Commissioner Bockwinkel! He holds Savage back to make sure no brawl takes place, and Nick has a microphone of his own. He says that he is not going to condone any kind of violence between these two tonight, nor next week on Saturday Night – however, the first ever WCW Uncensored is coming up, and he will be happy to let them tear one another limb from limb in a match befitting both men: a straightjacket match! The winner is the man who can beat his opponent into a straightjacket! Both men smile and nod! Savage says he doesn’t even want his title, only his head! Nick doesn’t like that idea – he’s always looking to get the title off of Pillman – but he can’t argue with Savage. Brian, just to be an annoyance, adds that Macho is right, it’s not about titles, it’s about pride – and also it’s about time someone put this fruitloop away! Savage looks ready to rush the ring, but security teams come out and keep him away as Pillman escapes through the crowd.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RickySteamboat.jpg

A video plays before commercial of Ricky Steamboat, sitting around a Christmas tree with wife Bonnie and young Ricky Jr. Steamboat says that out of everything in his life, the one thing he’s most proud of around this time of year is spending time with his loved ones, and hopes that all the WCW fans are getting to do the same. They wish all a happy holidays, and best wishes in 1995!

To the ring comes Jean-Paul Lévesque, who looks to have a lot on his mind and also a package in his hand. He gets a microphone and says that he’s been through a lot the past week, had a lot on his mind, and he’s out here to explain something, and he wants Lord Steven Regal to come out here to see him face-to-face. Regal comes out, sneering at everyone, and Lévesque welcomes him. He tells Regal that his sources apparently were pretty good, because they saw right through him. No, he’s not a blue blood, nor does he even come from money. He says that he rented the frilly robe. He apologizes to the fans and to everybody for the charade, but he did it out of respect. He says how he saw Lord Steven Regal, and he had such respect for him that he wanted to be like him. So he made up a bogus story about coming from wealth, and set about his WCW career. But one thing he doesn’t respect about Lord Regal is how he treated him. Jean-Paul says that there were a lot of ways that he could have told him they weren’t going to be a team; but locking him in the Regal Stretch didn’t have to be one of them. But hey, he says – there are no hard feelings, and in fact, Lévesque got him a Christmas present. He tells him to go ahead and open it up, right here for all the people to see. Regal unwraps it slowly, takes the lid off of the box, and quickly Lévesque shoves it into his face – there was a pie inside it! Lord Regal is furious at being embarrassed like that, and he runs off with Baron Tomas chasing after him with a towel to try and wipe the cream from his face! Lévesque says that if Regal didn’t learn to accept him as a phony blue blood, then he’ll learn to hate him as himself, as his close friends call him: JPL!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/JPL.jpg

Rating: C+

JPL’s new degenerate gimmick rated as a 96.

Mean Gene is in the ring, and out comes “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson, and “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes! Flair only wants to talk about the party later for new year’s eve, Dustin doesn’t have much to say, and Arn is the only one with business on his mind, as he says that next time he meets Vader, he’ll take him down; but at Uncensored, he and Ric want to see Hollywood Hogan across the ring from them!

Rating: C (a bit of bad improvising hit this segment hard, unfortunately)

Arn has changed to an Enforcer gimmick, because he was starting to get a ding for staleness. It rated – what else? a 100. That’s why it’s right there in his name.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/JimDuggan.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/GordonSolie.jpg

Gordon Solie is backstage with Jim Duggan, who says that he feels like he let his nation down at Starrcade by not winning the United States Heavyweight title from Steve Austin. He says however just like the flag must never come down except in sad times, he too will never fall! And he’ll show everyone just that next week on Saturday Night when he faces Terry Gordy. He also wishes all the WCW fans around the world a happy holiday, and hopes that in the next year he’ll do them proud by winning that US championship!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/SteveAustin.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BradArmstrong.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BrianJames.jpg

His “USA” chant gets cut off though, as Stunning Steve and the Armstrong Brothers appear on the scene! Steve asks him just what makes him think that he’d get another shot. First, Steve will admit that he beat him by some allegedly dubious means. But at Starrcade, Austin defeated him completely by the book! He says that there’s only one way he’ll even think about giving Duggan another match, and that’s if he can win at Uncensored, to take on him and his boys – but this time, Duggan better put up or shut up, cause the stipulation for the match will be Title versus Career! Jim says that he has just the guys in mind to show the Stud Stable that they can’t bully the flag! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

Mean Gene is back out in the ring thanks to the powers of editing, and standing by with Hollywood Hogan, California Kip, and The Queen. Hogan takes front and center, saying that he’s so proud of his “understudy” for beating that former pretty boy at Starrcade, and says that Kip is going straight to the top of the wrestling world alongside the KoW! Hogan says also about Flair and Arn, and he says that they’ll definitely see him at Uncensored, and next week he’ll reveal a partner and stipulation that’ll blow their minds!

When we come back from break, The Queen has joined Tony and Jesse at the announce booth, Ventura saying that what they did by chasing Bobby away during the break was uncalled for. Queen rolls her eyes, saying he’s had it coming for all those years of talking bad on Hogan.

Stunning Steve Austin, Diamond Dallas Page, and BG Armstrong w/Colonel Robert Parker vs. The Playboys and Ichii Yazaki

A rather short match for the size of it, while he’s in the ring The Queen seems to take a small liking to masked man Yazaki. This is mostly a showcase for the Stable though, and Austin gets the win by hitting his version of the Diamond Cutter on Stud for the pin.

Winners: Stud Stable

As Bobby Heenan rejoins commentary, “American Outlaw” Dusty Rhodes leads out Meng, “Guardian Angel” Bubba Rogers, and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff. Dusty says that he’s seen how Jimmy Hart has been overworking himself lately with so many clients, so alongside the Road Warriors, Dusty is going to be managing these three men as well from the KoW. He says that Orndorff and Meng has been a force on the tag team division lately, and dubs them his “Wonderful Destruction Crew”.

Wonderful Destruction Crew w/Dusty Rhodes vs. Young Pistols

This one is a quick match to really put over the WDC. With Dusty cheering them on from the outside, they lay waste to the Pistols, and finally Orndorff puts Steve Armstrong away with the jumping piledriver.

Winners: Wonderful Destruction Crew

Mean Gene is backstage alongside Brian Pillman, who is talking about his now upcoming match against Randy Savage. Pillman says that he doesn’t care really if his TV title will be on the line or not, but if it’s not, that gives him one less thing to worry about, and more to keep his mind on hurting and punishing Savage like he’s always hoped he’d get the chance to do – “Honestly, I thought he’d be long retired by the time he ever was crazy enough to step foot in MY WCW!” Okerlund asks if Brian is worried about the KoW helping Savage in the no disqualification nature of a straightjacket match, and Brian says that it’s the only worry he has; being the Loose Cannon, he has no friends in WCW, only the fans who will follow him.

“See Brian, that’s always been your problem. Ya’ve always been too worried about what everyone else thinks.”

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/SteveAustin.jpg

Stunning Steve Austin?! These men have no love lost for sure, and Austin continues, saying that Brian needs to learn how to stand like a man on his own before he can take down everybody in front of him. Pillman retorts that Austin’s a big man now with the Stud Stable behind him again, but Austin chuckles that away, telling him that he may have backup, but he’s never needed them to beat someone like Pillman. Brian says that maybe he needs to prove it, right here next week on Saturday Night! Austin says that’s fine by him, and Gene goes nuts for the idea of the two champions facing off next week!

Kim Doll is backstage alongside Vader, Hakushi, and Sonny Onoo. Vader does most of the talking for this one of course, saying that 1994 showed one thing: that in all the wrestling world, no one is more feared than the monster Vader! And in 1995, everyone will learn that only one man will end the year on top, and lead WCW through to the next millennium, only one man can carry the entire wrestling world, because from here until further notice, it’s Vader Time!

“Hot Rod” Roddy Piper w/Jimmy Hart vs. Stevie Ray

This match seems to have stemmed off of the recent Hollywood Hogan vs. Booker T match a few weeks ago, as it seems Stevie wanted to show his own skills off in singles action. Piper is stiff competition though, and he knows his way around a larger foe. Stevie gives it his best college try, but in the end it’s Piper coming out on top by putting the big man out with his patented sleeperhold.

Suddenly a commotion from backstage, as Booker T is sent through the curtain – and out comes the Road Warriors! They rush toward the ring and pick up Stevie to hit him with the Doomsday Device, and Booker T is left helpless only to watch on as the Road Warriors pick up the WCW World Tag Team championships and hold them high above their heads! Their intentions are clear: the Road Warriors want the gold again!

Ricky Steamboat is on his way out to the ring, when he gets stopped by Cactus Jack and Terry Funk. Jack says that he saw Steamboat’s video earlier, and he was genuinely moved. Both being family men, Jack and Funk say that they love seeing “The Dragon” still so dedicated to his life after all these years. Cactus says that it’s not much, but they have a late Christmas gift for him, something that might come in handy for the year to come if the KoW keep breathing down his neck; they give him a steel chair with a large bow on the top of it. Steamboat thanks them, taking it along with him, as the two hardcore wrestlers beam.

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs. “The Guardian Angel” Bubba Rogers w/Dusty Rhodes

A very good match to end the year on Saturday Night, as Steamboat and Rogers let it all hang out for the fans in this one. Rogers leans on Steamboat very well through this matchup, and Steamboat sells it like Bubba is killing him with each blow. Jimmy Hart is around, and he plays a deciding factor in this one – by accidentally striking Rogers with his megaphone! Dusty yells at him as “The Dragon” flies off the top with a big crossbody to get the win!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Sting2.jpg

To end the show, Sting comes back out just as promised, and he tells everyone that he has a huge challenge to make for the first WCW Uncensored. He says that there’s still someone who’s been at the top of his naughty list, and he wants him to come out here right now: Roddy Piper!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RoddyPiper.jpg

Piper comes out with a smirk on his face and a towel around his neck after his match earlier, and he asks Sting what he wants. Sting says that yeah, they had a match a few weeks ago, but it wasn’t enough for him. Piper says that any time Sting wants a lesson in respect from one of the Kings, he’ll gladly be there to give it to him. Sting says that’s all well and good, but he wants to teach Piper a lesson in respect! He says that he hasn’t forgotten that Piper hit him from behind and left him in a pool of his own blood back in July, and with Uncensored coming up, that’s exactly what Sting wants to do in return! Sting says that he is making his challenge official: a first blood match!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/NickBockwinkel.jpg

Nick Bockwinkel comes out, and he looks perplexed. He says that it’ll take him some work, but if both men are determined, then he’ll have to do something: next week, they both have to sign a waiver, to make WCW and its affiliate networks not be held responsible for the two’s actions – and it’s agreed! Next week, both men will sign the dotted line, and at Uncensored, it’s Sting vs. Piper!

<p>JPL is such a Hot Prospect, he appears on the list twice! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

The upper echelon Japanese workers seem to be tough to beat out for the best worker awards, but nice job on snagging company/match/show of the year. Vinnie Mac can't be too happy about that!</p><p> </p><p>

Looking forward to 1995!</p>

Okay, Hotline WILL be posted tonight, promise. Until then, have this as a possible conversational piece: my list of theme songs for WCW over the past 6 months, listed by when they got the theme. You can look these songs up and everything! And it'll help you guys for immersion, almost the same way that it's done for me. A lot of these are songs I've found that the wrestler actually used, or else songs from bands that they liked, and all of them are timeframe specific for late 1994. The only person not listed who I've given one to is JPL, who hasn't debuted his new theme yet...

These are ones that have carried over from what they had already. Surprisingly very few of these.

Alex Wright: "Warped Mind" production music

Arn Anderson: "Groover" by WCW

Diamond Dallas Page: "Glam Rock" production music

Johnny B. Badd: "Here Comes Johnny B. Badd" by WCW

Lord Steven Regal: "Blue Bloods theme" by WCW?

August 1994

Hollywood Hogan: "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" by Jimi Hendrix

Jim Duggan: "Washington Post" by John Phillip Sousa

Kevin Sullivan: "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath

The Nasty Boys: "We're the Nasty Boys" by Jimmy Hart/The Nasty Boys

Paul Orndorff: "I'm a Fighter" by Van Zant

Rock 'n Roll Express: "Still Rock 'n Roll to Me" by Bob Segar

Roddy Piper: "The Green Hills of Tyrol"

Ron Simmons: "Break of Dawn" by Salt-n-Pepa

Stars 'n Stripes: "Born in the USA" by Bruce Springsteen

Stud Stable/Stunning Steve Austin/The Armstrong Brothers: "A Country Boy Can Survive" by Hank Williams Jr

September 1994

Cactus Jack: "Symphony of Destruction" by Megadeth

The Great Muta: "Great Muta Concerto" by NJPW

Heavenly Bodies: "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter

Ricky Steamboat: "Sirius" by Allen Parsons Project

Texas Regulators: "Theme from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"

October 1994

Harlem Heat: "The Predator" by Ice Cube

Paul Roma/Style and Substance: "Superstar" by Andrew Lloyd Webber

Terry Funk: "Man with a Harmonica" by Ennio Morricone

Bubba Rogers: "Train of Consequences" by Megadeth

Dusty Rhodes: "Midnight Rider" by Greg Allman

Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin: "Badstreet USA" by Michael Hayes

Ric Flair: "Dawn" (feat. "Fanfare for the Common Man" opening)

The Road Warriors: "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath

Steve Keirn: "Cool for Cats" by Squeeze

Terry Gordy: "Dixieland" by Jackyl

Tommy Rich: "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel

December 1994

California Kip: "Buddy Holly" by Weezer

Dustin Rhodes: "La Grange" by ZZ Top

Comments: Non title match, have Pillman by DQ after some interference

“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan vs. Terry Gordy
