Mid Atlantic Wrestling - How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Territories

Looks like I forgot to get predictions in for this show, I thought I did.

How is the crowd taking your finishes? When I played with MAW they would not respond well to non-clean finishes. I think the most I could get away with was a distraction. It was tough because you have to book heels as strong (getting pin-fall/submission wins) instead of the usual cheating, weapons, low blows etc. It would almost seem to make sense to not use faces and heels but I believe the product calls for it.

Yep. The crowd doesn't respond well. The grades reflect that. With the main event I used creative freedom more than anything else. As it was no DQ, it wasn't a dirty finish. Referee change? The crowd could care less. But the tag match? TWO interferences? Ugh. The crowd rioted. I think that might've been match of the night if I actually didn't run the two interferences. But as my pop is E (finally) and we keep hitting D shows, it's not too much of an effect if a match drops too much...

Mid Atlantic Wrestling and the Confederation of the Territories is proud to present

Fan Festival!

It's June and that can only mean one thing in the Mid Atlantic - The always popular, Fan Festival! Make sure to come early to meet some of the MAW's favorite stars! As this is the Fan Festival, the matches are sure to entertain and sure to be filled with some of the most interesting rules in wrestling!

The first match, announced at Old School Rules, pits Citizen X and "The Duke of Destruction" Nate DeMarcus against each other! The Proletariat Rules in this match however, as it's the first ever Fans Bring the Weapons match!

A First Blood match is on the card as well as Syd Collier, 1/2 of the tag champs, has stated that he wants to fight in a first blood match against the man who's been attacking the Herb Stately Stable of Superstars. Unfortunately for Collier, another man, Findlay O'Farraday was highly upset from last month and is answering the challenge to vent out some of his frustrations.

Speaking of taking out frustrations, Matthew Keith has called out Tennessee William in an effort to get to the bottom of who attacked him. Keith has promised to make William quit for taking his place in last month's #1 Contender's Battle Royal.

The Million Dollar Challenge returns this month, with a new twist - a ladder. However, no one has answered the call to fight George Wolfe although the challenge is up in the air...

And in main event action, as selected by the fans, a Lucha Libre Showcase will occur as Lucha Libre rules make a return to the Fan Festival - C-V-2 team up to take on the always formidable American champion Mr. Lucha III and El Mitico Jr.

PLUS: Mr. Lucha's Attacker will be making an appearance!

Quick Key -

Fans Bring the Weapons - Citizen X vs. Nate DeMarcus

First Blood Match - Findlay O'Farraday vs. Syd Collier

Million Dollar Challenge Ladder Match - George Wolfe vs. ?????

I Quit Match - Matthew Keith vs. Tennessee William

Main Event, Lucha Libre Rules - Mr. Lucha III & El Mitico vs. C-V-2

This prediction contest will run up to Starrcade (3 shows). Good luck all!

Fans Bring the Weapons Match

Citizen X vs. Nate DeMarcus w/Lisa Bowen

The show begins with the intensity of the Fans Bring the Weapons Match. The entire front row by ringside was littered with the group of fans that have identified themselves as The Proletariat and all have weapons. Marv states he’s never seen anything like this and it was one heck of a way to welcome DeMarcus to MAW. Bowen, who was by ringside, did her best to help her newest client but the nature of the match meant she had to duck out of the way of weapons and fighters more often than she was used to. As the match spilled outside, the chaos increased – a set of bagpipes was the weapon of choice for DeMarcus but those bagpipes were quickly destroyed by a sword of all things by X. More weapons came in use, including a great comedy spot where a fan handed X what looked like a framed copy of the Declaration of Independence and X realized what he had and smashed it directly over DeMarcus’ head screaming “FOR THE PEOPLE!” This threw DeMarcus off a bit and allowed X to hit the Flaming Anarchy off the ring mat for the win.

Citizen X isn’t done however. He grabs a microphone and looks out, towards the back.

“There comes a time in every man’s life where Revolution must Reign. Today, it begins. Today, the Revolution’s fire has been lit. For you see “King” – your reign will end. I defeated your Duke, so why don’t you show your face and realize that your undoing is before you.” Citizen X pauses waiting for Robbie Wright to respond. Upon realizing there is no response, X continues. “Fine, you won’t come out here? Then I will head back there and find you. I am the reckoning you’ve dreaded, ‘your highness.’”

X drops the microphone and begins to head to the back, murder in his eyes.

”Whoa. Citizen X looking to get his kicks in on the king tonight!”

”The always emotional X is making another mistake there, don’t you think Marv?”

”Perhaps, but he’s a former champ for a reason Herb.”

”Speaking of former champs, I hope you’re ready for Findlay O’Farraday to be bleeding all over Stanley Hall Marv!”

First Blood Match

Findlay O’Farraday vs. Syd Collier w/Herb Stately

With some of the weapons still scattered around from the previous match, this match became an intense quickly. Collier, realizing that he had little time to waste with the big man. As a tag worker though, Collier showed he can hang in it singles as he stayed the pace with the former MAW Champion. However, staying the pace with O’Farraday can never be enough and Collier soon saw his chances dwindle. Becoming desperate, Herb Stately threw a chair into the ring for Collier but this was intercepted by O’Farraday who used the chair to end Collier’s chances in this match, busting ½ of the tag team champions open.

O’Farraday doesn’t bother staying around over his fallen victim. Stately jumps up from the announcer’s booth however and gets into the ring to check on his fallen client. Suddenly Pink Floyd’s “Welcome to the Machine” plays again. Herb goes pale as Collier is still down. However, nothing happens… Instead, a voice is heard over the PA system.

“Starrcade...Get your men together. The Machine will strike.”

The music stops as abruptly as it began as Collier comes to… Herb heads to the booth shaken up.

”What was that?”

”You think I know Marv? You’re supposed to be the commissioner of this damn company, how about you do something!”

Million Dollar Challenge – Ladder Match

Citizen Y vs. George Wolfe w/ Ernest Forthdyke-Hume

The crowd wasn’t too thrilled with this match – despite efforts Wolfe doesn’t seem to click with the fans. But this match seemed to change that as Y & Wolfe fought a hard fought bout. The two utilized the ladder as a weapon, but unlike other ladder matches this wasn’t about who could pull off the more impressive move but rather who could wrestle the better match. It was power (Wolfe) against athleticism (Y) and the two put on a showcase showing both men had a future in MAW and pro-wrestling. Speaking of the ladder, the weapon nearly knocked Wolfe out (who went flying from the ring apron to the outside) which led to Y climbing – and almost winning… When a fan in a red Proletariat hoodie came out from the crowd and knocked over the ladder… Before anyone could react the fan took off his hoodie…

http://imageshack.us/a/img827/4691/pk98.jpg

…Revealing himself to be Robbie Wright. Wolfe, who had recovered by now, rolled into the ring and with Wright’s help managed to retrieve the briefcase leaving Y in a heap on the mat.

George Wolfe d. Citizen Y, 13:52, D

Robbie Wright grabs a microphone as he stands in the center of the ring with Wolfe and Forthdyke-Hume flanking him.

“X. Look at your ally now. Look at this dreg lay flat on his back, staring at the lights. All the lightbulbs working Y?” Wright chuckles, before continuing. “You really think you’ve defeated the entirety of my court? You’re wrong. There is always a card up my sleeve. For you see, I am always thinking ahead. I am always planning ahead of you. You said it’s time for a Revolution? I will quash your revolution.

“So your challenge? I once again reject it. And if you don’t like that? Well that’s just too bad. You have done nothing to earn it.”

Wright drops the microphone as Pantera’s Walk plays and he lifts up Wolfe’s hand in victory.

”Wow. What a bastard that Robbie Wright is.”

”A smart bastard…”

”That may be what you think… I call it sneaky. But now here is part one of a special two part interview I had with the man who attacked Mr. Lucha III last month.”

http://imageshack.us/a/img689/3451/h3lv.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img89/3503/z8cg.jpg

In what looks like a news studio, Marv Earnest is sitting with the masked man who attacked Mr. Lucha III with the mist last month.

”This is part one of our special. You can catch the whole interview transcript on MidAtlanticWrestling.com. I’m here with a man who has only identified himself as “The Masked Stranger.” Stranger, why did you do it?”

“Marvin Earnest, you know nothing of lucha libre. See, Mid Atlantic, for the past several months has been trying to tout this image of lucha libre. MAW has been trying to tout that it is cutting edge with these jokes of a lucha libre matches… But it makes no sense…

“Then you insult me by hiring that phony, Mr. Lucha III. The man who ruined my life…”

”What do you mean?”

“Many years ago, I applied to be the next Mr. Lucha. I met with Manuel Prieto, the traitor the mask, and showed him how Mr. Lucha II was doing the exact same thing that Prieto did when he took off the mask, he was mocking lucha libre. He was mocking the business we’ve all bled and died for. Prieto saw that I was right and revoked the mask rights of Mr. Lucha II. I was waiting, excited to become Mr. Lucha III. Become the lucha libre star I was meant to be…”

”We’ll have the rest of that tell all interview next month at the Sam Keith Classic and Herb, that is one man who is disturbed…”

”Any idiot wearing a mask is clearly disturbed… Speaking of disturbed, here comes the man who’s going to be forced to quit by Tennessee William!”

http://imageshack.us/a/img4/7816/veuj.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img89/9608/zyem.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img811/296/4wzq.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img844/9479/7gsy.jpg

I Quit Match

Matthew Keith vs. Tennessee William (w/Herb Stately)

An exciting match that saw both have chemistry with each other and really trade blows smoothly. William shows that the cheesy gimmick is just that, a gimmick, as for every blow he takes from Keith, he easily exchanges it back to him. The two men won’t go down easily. However Keith looks more like a man looking for revenge more then anything and he easily takes William with the Proton Lock for the win.

http://imageshack.us/a/img543/8773/z0hm.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img834/9841/i3tf.jpg

The MAW owner and MAW commissioner are both in the ring much to the crowd’s delight. A “Thank You Sam” chant starts as Keith gets on the microphone.

”No thank you fans! Since taking over the MAW, I have not seen a more loyal group of fans!” The crowd buys into the cheap pop as Keith continues. ”And with that in mind, it’s now time to introduce the teams for the third annual Sam Keith Classic!!”

Before Sam can continue though, “Dogs of War” by Pink Floyd plays signaling the entrance of COTT President Dread…

http://imageshack.us/a/img543/8721/2nzr.jpg

The big man gets into the ring and Sam and he exchange pleasantries off microphone before Sam hands Dread the microphone.

”Thank you Sam. I just came out to make an announcement concerning the same Classic you refer to… See Sam, there’s two spots in our six man gauntlet for the COTT World’s Title in six weeks. Currently, four of those six spots are held by Greg Black, representing PSW, Cam Vessey, representing MAW, Silver Tiger, representing OLLIE and Donnie J, representing CZCW… With that in mind, there’s two spots left and what better way to award them then the always entertaining Sam Keith Classic!!”

The crowd pops as Dread hands the microphone back to Sam Keith.

”Now that’s what I’m talking about. Of course, that means the former Sam Keith Classic winners C-V-2 won’t be able to enter…So without further ado, our Sam Keith Classic brackets for the 2013 tournament…”

”First… Representing the MAW – The Proletariat, The Kingdom and The Dynamite Express!”

The crowd gives mixed reactions to the names, with the pop going to the faces. Marv continues.

”And as we have done in years past, we’ve extended the invitation to other promotions. Representing the Coastal Zone – Jackpot Jordan and Jake Idol – Rich and Famous! Representing 4C, two protégés of the great Rip Chord – Antonio Del Vecchio and Davis Wayne Newton! Representing OLLIE, Los Monteros – Gino and Luis Montero! Representing NYCW… Wait this is an MAW worker!” Sam Keith shrugs as Marv shakes his head. ”I can’t believe it but somehow Marv Earnest, you got Tennessee William representing NYCW. And his partner is Monty Trescade… And finally, a joint team… representing Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling, wait another MAW worker? Matthew Keith! And his partner is… another MAW worker representing Pro Wrestling MAX – their owner, Findlay O’Farraday!”

”What a bracket, eh? I can’t wait to see the exciting matches next month here at Stanley Hall!”

”And the winners? They’ll both be in the Gauntlet for the Gold!”

The crowd cheers but those soon turn into jeers as “Fortunate Son” by the Dropkick Murphys plays signifying the arrival of C-V-2…

http://imageshack.us/a/img14/3738/m9px.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img401/2385/5hr2.jpg

The MAW champion Cameron Vessey, with partner Casey Valentine in tow. The two heels get to the ring, but don’t enter, rather grabbing a house microphone. The boos get louder as Vessey begins.

”SHUT UP! Don’t you know who I am? My name is Cameron Vess-“

”That’ll be enough of that Cam. You have a match after all? Oh and our decision? It’s final. If you don’t like it? Well that’s just too damn bad!”

Cam Vessey goes to say something, but it’s clear his microphone has been cut as he throws it to the ground. He and his partner get in the ring as the MAW executives get out.

Lucha Libre Rules

Mr. Lucha III & El Mitico Jr. vs. C-V-2

Lucha tag rules. As Marv explains it, it’s the same as our previous match except when an opponent leaves the ring – their partner can jump right in the action. Normally, this would give the heels a big advantage in an American promotion but as Lucha and Mitico are both familiar with the lucha rules – this isn’t an issue for the faces. The four men put on a showcase of tag team wrestling that the crowd eats up, looking for the luchadors to get the pin over C-V-2. The back and forth nature of this match led to some hot spots. The match was quickly paced and this quick pace led to the first fall as Mitico hit a beautiful Northern Lights Suplex.

The second fall saw more action and saw the heels take advantage. At one point, the two heels had Mitico on the outside and were double teaming him and Lucha III hit a suicide plancha on all three men. Another move that saw Lucha go flying was a double pancake on him by C-V-2 to the outside. Mitico, quick to respond, jumped in and this led C-V-2 getting the second fall with the Flying V.

Final fall was a more balanced affair as the heels and faces got plenty of action. Finish came when Mitico hit the Northern Lights Suplex on Valentine, and Vessey (who broke up the pin attempt) tosses Mitico over the top rope. Forgetting of the rules of no tags became Vessey’s mistake as he turned around…

”THIRD STRIKE BY LUCHA!! I can’t believe it! Here’s the pin… 1…2…3!!! The MAW American Champion just pinned the Mid Atlantic champion! I can’t believe it!”

Mr. Lucha III & El Mitico d. C-V-2, 2-1, 23:25, C-

http://imageshack.us/a/img713/1428/jc5m.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img689/6848/qfyw.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img14/3738/m9px.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img401/2385/5hr2.jpg

Valentine can’t believe it. He attacks Lucha immediately but Mitico slides back in and before long all four men are brawling. Lucha and Vessey go to the outside while Mitico and Valentine stay inside… When out of the crowd…

http://imageshack.us/a/img89/3503/z8cg.jpg

The Masked Stranger! He comes ripping over the barricade and straight after Lucha III. With Lucha occupied by Stranger, Vessey rolls into the ring going after Mitico with his partner…The three on two assault looks like trouble for the faces…

http://imageshack.us/a/img4/7816/veuj.jpg

As Matthew Keith comes running down with a steel chair to even the odds. He sends Stranger running and slides into the ring, sending C-V-2 diving out before a chair shot can get them. Keith and Vessey exchange words as the three faces stand in the ring with the heels on the outside…

”I can’t believe it! It’s pandemonium here in the Mid Atlantic!”

It was late and I was bruising a black eye in the office, one suffered from Lucha in our last match, and I happened to be strolling through the internet. Rumors abound on the internet but so do some of the best wrestling fans. It was July and that meant it was time for Pro Wrestling Today's Halfies. Every year they do what TEW.com doesn’t do: they give awards in July. I quickly strolled through the top five promotions and the top news stories as I realized I needed to finish booking the Sam Keith Classic…

Mid Atlantic Wrestling and the Confederation of the Territories is proud to present

The Third Annual Sam Keith Classic

It’s sure to be another great tournament here in the Mid Atlantic as a record eight teams go for the Sam Keith Classic! Brackets are fresh off the presses too, right from Sam Keith’s office, and it looks to be the best Sam Keith Classic yet! In opening round action, OLLIE’s Los Monteros take on NYCW’s Monty Trescarde and Tennessee William! With the Montero brothers being OLLIE’s tag champs, they certainly are favorites to win it all but will the Wall Street Weasel and Country Music Star have an upset in store?

Speaking of upsets, The Proletariat has been upset in recent months with their rivalry the newly dubbed The Wright Kingdom. They’ll be able to get some frustrations out as they’ve been handed the luck of the draw as Wright’s henchmen, George Wolfe & Nate DeMarcus team up for the first time.

Another first time teaming coming from up north, the freshly dubbed Sons of Chord, Antonio Del Veccio and Davis Wayne Newton, look to make a splash against the MAW tag team champions, The Dynamite Express.

And the final quarter finals match sees the defending Sam Keith Classic winners, Matthew Keith & Findlay O’Farraday taking on the former 3 time Coastal Zone tag champs, Rich And Famous - Jake Idol & Jackpot Jordan.

That’s not all though in the land of the Mid Atlantic. After last month’s stunning upset, the main event of the card will not be the Classic finals but instead a Champion vs. Champion match. Cameron Vessey will put his Mid Atlantic championship on the line against MAW American Champion, Mr. Lucha III.

Another match sees some bad blood return as El Mitico Jr. takes on a man who’s been a thorn in his side since debuting in MAW, The Deadline.

And in a special showcase of MAW talent, a six man man tag match has been scheduled. Casey Valentine captains a team consisting of himself and Damage Inc. against Svensson & The Lost Cause.

All this and much much more only in Stanley Hall, at the Sam Keith Classic III!

I love you Nige, but you're teamed with the Lost Cause and that more or less spells your doom.

El Mitico Jr. vs. The Deadline

One of these men is Deuce Deadline, the other isn't. Enough said.

Mid Atlantic Championship - Cameron Vessey © vs. Mr. Lucha III

Vessey to be champ until Matt dethrones him.

What will be the match of the night? Vessy/Lucha

Edit: Loving the diary thus far. As I'm playing MAW myself at the moment it's cool to see just how different your game is to mine. I also have to say that you must have gotten lucky on those owner goals. My Sam Keith reeeeeealy doesn't want me hiring any Luchadors.

<p>Sorry for being a little late. I've been working on graphics, planning out the calendar year for preaching and just sort of relaxing. SK3 will be up sometime this weekend but a few notes. This isn't my first record of an EW game... But after checking, it's the second longest in word document form. 82 pages for this dynasty in my word document... I once did a WWF 1989 one back in the EWR days that was longer (and I had a lot of fun with, which I'm having here) but I haven't been able to book real world since... 05 or 07... I just love the C-Verse. I even tried this week (WCWA in the fabulous 87 mod, but can't get my hands around it). The C-Verse is so balanced. And I love the old 77 mod for 10... I might be working on an update if the original creators don't mind... I'll probably message them after SK3 is up...</p><p> </p><p>

Anyways, I posted all that just to say... Thanks for being readers of 82 pages (single spaced, times new romans, 12 pt font) of what has been just a venting area for me and a way for me to keep my writing skills sharp. As I'm currently in the process of starting a church (yay) I've been busy, but not writing busy so I need to keep sharp and doing this has been both entertaining and fun. It's not my usual theology (spoiler: <span style="color:#FFFFFF;">although I plan on introducing a character soon... gotta find who will play him, inbox for suggestions</span>) so it's been a challenge to be... creative but it's got my juices flowing for the 2014 preaching calendar and series I am working on with my staff...</p><p> </p><p>

Anyways, tl;dr? I've been taking it easy this week and SK3 might not be posted until Saturday/Sunday. - I don't book ahead either so in game, I'm on August week 1, Monday. Which means Starrcade is next... Uh oh.</p><p> </p><p>

With that in mind, just a few responses...</p><p> </p><p>

Ricky - You too lazy to pick your own winners?! Boo you! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Slayen - Yes. Sam Keith did limit me too... But not in a way that's really changed anything. I just realized I never posted owner goals, as they didn't interfere too much. I had planned on posting them when they did interfere, as a sorta "oh I missed that in the packet" from Casey, but I don't really see them interfering unless PWMax keeps putting on C (YES C) shows and jumps up in the rankings.. So here's the owner goals for those who are interested.</p><p> </p><p>

The end dates are... "sorta close to"... It's 5 minutes to 3 am haha.</p><p> </p><p>

1. MAW must have gained popularity in America (ends May 2016)</p><p>

2. MAW must not have fallen below #32 (ends January 2016)</p><p>

3. Can't hire any Cruiserweights. (ends November 2014)</p><p>

4. Can't hire problems with the law. (same)</p><p>

5. No spot monkeys (ends September 2014.)</p>

<p>I'm a heel at heart. Imagine me being the guy in the triple threat match who steals the pin. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<p>I'm just going to come out and say it, what ever this role is hire KC Glenn.</p><p> </p><p>

Even putting aside the fact that he is ridiculously talented and will elevate any match you put him in, he can go either heel or face and is strong with a fairly broad number of gimmicks.</p><p> </p><p>

Basically unless you need a big guy for the role, KC can probably do it.</p><p> </p><p>

In fact, even if he isn't a fit for this mystery character, hire him anyway.</p><p> </p><p>

And yes, I am a massive fan boy of the kid.</p>

L-Ring is always in the C range along with PWMax. PWC gets good grades D-range, but they always seem to go bankrupt in my game. I really hope they stay alive as right now I'm struggling in my regional battle against PSW. They just brought in some big names that I can't match and they are killing me.</p>
