Los Angeles Clippers: Instant Changes, Instant Hope? [2002-????]

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I was surprised too until I looked at who won the awards. All of the players who are blue for both Current & Potential were winners. My all Blue players were injured for a while during the year so.... And nonsense! I am VERY OPEN to random advice! I haven't had time to advance to the Free Agency yet, so you gave good advice at the perfect moment.

So, for everybody following...if you think of something that might help my team, don't be shy...speak up...and tell me! I am open to all help! :D

Ahh, that makes sense. I keep forgetting the NBA was better off Center wise than they are now too, otherwise Jermaine would be a lock for sure I'd think.

Awesome! I'm excited to see how things look at the start of next season. People are gonna think I'm such a pain when they read through this thread down the line, but I think people discussing the game as it's happening is just so much more fun, ya know? haha :)

Please, they shouldn't be thinking you're a pain. You are the person whose post's I use to tell what's going on in the game! :D:D:D

Anyways, DRAFT TIME people! We are in dire need of a new Power Forward so I picked up 23 year-old, Nick Collison at #27. He'll be sitting on the bench behind Mike Dunleavy for a while.

EDIT - I screwed up in the draft....I picked the wrong _F position! I needed a SMALL Forward, not a Power Forward....ah well, free agency :shrugs:

Hahaha thanks!

1. I didn't know Collison had been around that long.

2. No big deal, he can be trade bait if nothing else. I'm sure his potential is decent enough :D

1. I don't really follow the NBA so I didn't either!

2. Sure, he might become trade bait later in the season.

3. ......I'm doing that thing again!

Closing Thoughts:

Financially, the team is not doing good. I have a Good approval rating though....*looks at settings* Oh yeah...Human coaches can’t be fired....I have an interesting team and the Season Preview has us winning the Pacific again. What are the odds that I'm going to kill the LA Clippers BEFORE we win a NBA Championship?

Uh, oh yeah. New team entered the league this off-season, Charlotte! The Season Preview has them finishing the season deadlast in the Southeast Division.

 Forget getting rid of Collison, Cherokee Parks is making 2 million for doing nothing! I'd send him and Eisley (Expiring high contract as well) somewhere for a backup PG. Maybe even your first round pick, but then I'd be looking to get someone better than Andre. Also, you only ever need 12 guys active, so until people get injured and are out I'd send the worst guys/guys you don't use but haven't reached their potential to the D-League til you need them.

Also, totally a personal preference thing, but as I love 3-point shooting teams I'd highlight Dunleavy over Andre.

Also, woo Bobcats! For like.. 9 years haha :p

Alright, I'll look into offloading Eisley, Parks, and possibly my draft pick for a PG. Also, I'll be making adjustments to the Gameplan as the season progresses, so I might highlight Dunleavy in the future.

Maybe try to pry Bobby Jackson from the Kings? :p I think Jackson and Doug Christie could really help your guard rotation. Collison's pretty serviceable as a back-up, IMO, so I wouldn't suggest trading him yet. I agree about getting rid of Parks, though. :D

I love the enthusiasm you're showing with this game, man, it's really infectious.

I agree with trying to trade Eisley, Parks, and Goldwire, though I'm not sure how much you'd get for them

I've followed the NBA since 2003 so that's enough for me to suggest he never was worth a 1st round pick. The fact that he only got into double digits ppg once and his highest apg was 5.2 (same season, coincidentally it was 2004)</p><p> </p><p> Derek Fisher is unspectacular, but IMO the perfect backup pg (I'm a Celtics fan saying such blasphemy!). He won't lead your team points wise, but won't often turn the ball over and will get it to your playmakers. He's about 75 years old now <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> but really, he shouldn't be old in the game. Still, 2 picks for them seems a little steep... but if the plan is to make a Title run I'd probably do it. Whatcha think michgcs?</p>

Injury Report:

  • Mike Dunleavy came down with a Stiff Neck, suppose to be out for 6 days but is designated “Day-to-Day” [injury occurred 12/22/04]
  • Mike Dunleavy got injured badly, Broken Foot. He’ll be out 55 days [occurred on 02/03/05, 46 days left]
  • Michael Jordan fractured his jaw and will be out of action for 16 days [occurred on 02/03/05, now designated as “Day-to-Day”]

Thoughts – Woah...I think the health of my team and it’s age is going to be my enemy this year. We are on-fire, but once both MJ and Dunleavy went down...3 Game Skid! Here we go, this dynasty is in full-gear UNTIL the franchise goes broke....

Thoughts – Same as last year, we go 5-1 in the Pre-Season. Is this a sign that we are gonna reach the Playoffs again? Hope so!

Thoughts – Just took a peak at where we are standing...we are #3 in OVERALL RECORD! WOW! Also, the IRL 04-05 Season? 37-45....we are on fire and WAY ahead of what history says the Clippers were.

My boy Dunleavy is getting jacked up out there :( jeez haha, anyway that's awesome dude! This should be a monster season, only 14 away from their first 50 win season in HISTORY( I know because they didn't do that IRL til this past year). I think the trade has definitely added some tough wins having good point guards on the floor at all times. Which is what we wanted :D

I'll say this, you guys recommending that I shop around for a good back-up PG REALLY has helped out this season. So, thanks you guys for the advice!

First 50 Game Winning Season in team history? Maybe, maybe not....but it's gonna be a slug-fest down the stretch because San Antonio isn't gonna roll over and die, Golden State is living up to their nickname of Warriors, and I'm not sleeping on Boston or Indiana....this is gonna be a blast!

San Antonio definitely looks to have gotten better too, ughh. If we maintain 3rd place/get 2nd we won't see them til the Conference Finals where hopefully the improved bench makes the difference :) So nervous for round 2!

Thoughts –:mad::mad: DAMMIT! 49 WINS!? Why couldn't we win that one additional game!?

<hr>

Injury Corner:

  • Curtis Borchardt came down with a Stiff Neck, suppose to be out for 6 days but is designated “Day-to-Day” [injury occurred 02/20/05]
  • J.R. Bremer came down with a Sprained Knee, suppose to be out for 9 days, but is designated “Day-to-Day” [injury occurred on 04/18/05]

Thoughts - We need all men on deck for this....we are going to war this Post-Season...Second Round or Bust in my mind!

 It's a conspiracy! there weren't more injuries or anything led to the skids? Here's hoping we pass Utah, and make it to probably the hardest series in the post-season...

Thoughts - …...........dammit....SO CLOSE! Lost in SEVEN!!! Well, at least Utah beat down San Antonio so at least I don’t feel too bad... Toronto and KOBE BRYANT won the NBA Championship! Huh, so THAT’s where Bryant went....

<hr>

Award Central:

I think we got an All-Star Team appearance by Andre Miller but I deleted that email so I can’t be sure.

Thoughts - I think next season we aren't gonna do good, but we still have draft picks next year so we might have to start the rebuilding process......*sighs* We did so good these past three seasons...Doing better than the Real-Life Clippers each and every season...might have some regression for a few seasons...

You can go to his player profile and look in the Achievements to see if he made the All Star game.
