WWE SmackDown!
Thursday, Week 2, November 2004

The opening video, backed by "Rise Up" performed by Drowning Pool plays as Michael Cole and Tazz greet us from ringside. Tonight, we've got a major tag team main event, with Edge and Eddie Guerrero teaming up to take on Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle! We'll also see the United States Champion John Cena in non-title action against "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner!

RATING:
80 (B)

Notes
: None.

Standing in the ring is General Manager
Paul Heyman
along with
Luther Reigns
and
Brock Lesnar
. Heyman puts forth an address to The Undertaker and the rest of Guerrero's Survivor Series team, saying that their fun is over. Last week, Team Heyman was embarrassed, but this Sunday at Survivor Series, there will be a path of destruction led by "The Next Big Thing" Brock Lesnar. He tells Edge, Eddie Guerrero, The Undertaker, Bryan Lloyd, and Rhyno to enjoy what's left of their careers because it's all coming to an end this Sunday!

RATING:
89 (A)

Notes
: None.

Rhyno
vs.
Luther Reigns

"The Censor" stayed in the ring as "The Man Beast" made his entrance for a rematch from last week. With the chaos that ensued last week, all of both Survivor Series teams were banned from ringside. These two brawlers went back and forth, trading shots as the taller Reigns eventually wore down the human ball of adrenaline. Rhyno showed his impressive strength to toss the match back in his favor with a belly to belly suplex to the big man! After catching Rhyno in the skull with a big boot a couple of minutes later, Reigns went outside to do some real damage. He looked underneath the ring when all of a sudden powder was thrown in his eyes! He felt his way back into the ring just in time for a Gore! Rhyno picked up another win over Reigns, and the camera panned to the bottom of the apron where the smirking face of Bryan Lloyd revealed itself!

RATING:
72 (B-)

Notes
: Much better than their effort last week. This was actually a passable opener.

In the back,
Rene Dupree
is with Josh Mathews, and he calls out Rey Mysterio and his team to meet in the ring later on tonight. He wants to show them all in person who his team's final member will be.

RATING:
63 ©

Notes
: None.

Billy Kidman w/Torrie Wilson
vs.
Matt Hardy ©

Matt Hardy defended his belt against another member of the cruiserweight team, going one-on-one with one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Billy Kidman. The veteran Kidman looked as if he'd be able to capture the championship, but Matt Hardy stopped the Shooting Star Press with a Superplex and never looked back, hitting the Twist of Fate for the win.

RATING:
72 (B-)

Notes
: None.

Backstage,
John Cena
is shown entering the arena! After his beatdown last week at the hands of JBL and The Cabinet, the United States Champion looks quite angry, and more importantly with Survivor Series looming, quite the worse for wear.

RATING:
76 (B-)

Notes
: None.

Rikishi w/Scotty 2 Hotty
vs.
Muhammad Hassan w/Daivari

Hassan was faced with perhaps his toughest test yet in the 400+ pounder, but he passed with flying colors. Rikishi tried to be the first one to defeat the Arab, but Hassan was able to slap on the Camel Clutch and add to his win streak.

After the match, Hassan grabs a mic and lays into Bryan Lloyd. He calls him a coward for his actions earlier tonight and a coward for avoiding Hassan's words. He thinks that Lloyd represents all of America who sits in ignorance as their military destroys the livelihoods of people around the world. Hassan sees himself as the man who will bring down the false idealism in the United States, and he's going to start with Bryan Lloyd.

RATING:
61 © / 74 (B-)

Notes
: None.

____________________________________________

In the back, most of
Team Eddie
is together as they talk about Bryan Lloyd's move against Luther Reigns earlier. Eddie, Rhyno, and Bryan Lloyd joke about it, Rhyno slapping Lloyd on the shoulder, but Edge isn't quite as enthused, sitting away from the others. Eddie walks over to him and tries to get him pumped up for tonight, but Edge doesn't quite react. Instead, he becomes a little more intense, saying that since Eddie treats everything like a joke, he might as well be on his own against Brock and Angle tonight. The two have a bit of a confrontation when
The Undertaker
enters the screen! He has simple words for his Survivor Series teammates: Edge. Eddie. Get along and at Survivor Series Paul Heyman's tyranny will rest...in...peace.

RATING:
84 (B+)

Notes
: None.

Chavo Guerrero, Jimmy Yang, Ultimo Dragon
vs.
The Chosen Ones

Chavo's efforts to make a statement for the cruiserweight team continued here as they took on Jordan, Porter, and Burke. With Burke and Jordan attacking Guerrero and Dragon on the outside, Montel Porter was able to hit a running big boot to Yang's face in the corner and pick up the win for his team!

After the match,
Rene Dupree's team
makes their way to the ring with three members of the cruiserweight team down.
Mysterio and Kidman
come to the aid of their teammates, but Dupree has no interest in violence here tonight. He tells all five men that his team member is a valuable one because of how well he knows the cruiserweight team and how great of a champion he has been. Dupree turns toward the ramp, but it's all a set-up as Chavo Guerrero lands a low blow on Jimmy Yang! This initiates an assault by Dupree's team, with Henry, Jindrak, and Hardy taking out the rest of the cruiserweights! A vicious World's Strongest Slam leaves Jimmy Yang in a heap, destroyed, as Chavo poses with Team Dupree just three days before Survivor Series!

RATING:
65 © / 75 (B-)

Notes
: 5-on-3 at Survivor Series?!

____________________________________________

In the back,
John Cena
is with his Survivor Series team as
Simmons and Londrick
attempt to stop him from heading straight to JBL's locker room for an attack. They tell him to wait until Survivor Series because they know that they're gonna kick the Cabinet's ass! Cena begrudgingly acquiesces and gets ready to head to the ring for his match.

John Cena
vs.
Scott Steiner

This one was a battle between "The Doctor of Thuganomics" and "Big Poppa Pump" as Steiner looked to regain some traction here on SmackDown. He looked as if he would be able to defeat the United States Champion and perhaps earn himself a title shot, but he got himself disqualified as he wouldn't let go of a chokehold in the corner!

He continued to beat down John Cena after the bell rang, attacking his injured ribs. Steiner locked in the Steiner Recliner as referees and officials run down to break it up! Cena grimaces and yells out in pain as Steiner wrenches back on the hold. When he finally lets it go and walks toward the back,
JBL
makes his entrance with
The Cabinet
, stopping at the top of the ramp with a briefcase. He opens it up to reveal wads of cash before handing it over to Steiner! Both look toward the ring to admire Steiner's work as Scott walks to the back!

RATING:
64 © / 78 (B) / 87 (B+)

Notes

Edge
and
Eddie Guerrero
are walking next to one another, silent. They seem to be on the same page for the moment, and they'll need to be - their match is next!

http://i.imgur.com/5mCsTSL.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/YqUuruU.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/sv4Vqlt.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/wah1OxO.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/0eTjKMM.jpg

Eddie Guerrero and Edge
vs.
Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle

This high-profile main event saw Lesnar and Angle work pretty well together for men who have had it out for one another in the past. They put their differences aside while Edge and the WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero had a bit more trouble doing that. The end came when Eddie accidentally hit Edge with a dropkick and turned right around into the F-5 for a Team Heyman win!

After the match,
the rest of Team Heyman
comes out to the ring to deliver a beatdown to the two men.
Bryan Lloyd
sprints out for the save along with
Rhyno
, but the 5-on-4 numbers game begins to prove insurmountable. Just then, the lights turn off and the arena goes ballistic, knowing who's coming! They turn back on and
The Undertaker
is standing in the ring, throwing haymakers to Lesnar, Angle, and the rest of their team. This allows Guerrero and Co. to regroup and send Team Heyman packing - but not before Lance Storm finds himself caught and he receives a Tombstone in the middle of the ring, sending a message to the GM's forces! SmackDown goes off the air just three nights before Survivor Series - this one is gonna be a war!

RATING:
78 (B) / 82 (B) / 87 (B+)

Notes
: A relatively disappointing match, but the final segment has the feud pretty hot going into Survivor Series!

OVERALL SHOW RATING:

Notes
: The excitement level for Survivor Series is actually pretty high despite this show grade.

WWE Survivor Series

Sunday, Week 2, November 2004

Gund Arena; Cleveland, OH

Emanating live from the home court of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, both RAW and SmackDown bring you Survivor Series! The final match card is as follows:

4-on-4 Traditional Elimination Match

The Doctors of Thuganomics
vs.
The Cabinet w/Sable

How We Got Here:
For months, there has been a struggle between John Cena and JBL over the United States Championship which has involved Bradshaw's purchasing of the contract of Ron Simmons. On Velocity this past Saturday, it was announced that if The Doctors of Thuganomics are victorious, Simmons' contract is reinstated to SmackDown and he is no longer under any pact of loyalty to his former tag team partner!

Tag Team Turmoil

Rob Van Dam and Shelton Benjamin ©
vs.
The Dudley Boyz
vs.
La Resistance
vs.
The Aristocracy

How We Got Here:
At Taboo Tuesday, R&B were placed together and won the World Tag Titles from La Resistance. Seeking a rematch, Grenier and Conway set up a series of attacks on the champions backstage. However, the title picture became more crowded until Mr. McMahon decided to include all four teams in a Tag Team Turmoil match for the belts!

5-on-5 Traditional Elimination Match

Cruiser Control
vs.
The Round Table w/Theodore Long

How We Got Here:
After Rey Mysterio cost Rene Dupree a match, Dupree declared war on the cruiserweight division as he enlisted a few of SmackDown's strongest and most cunning athletes. Mysterio responded in kind, forming a team of cruiserweights which included his repentant ex-rival Chavo Guerrero. However, this turned out to be a ruse as Chavo turned on his cruiserweight brethren, aligning with Dupree and injuring Jimmy Yang in the process! Will Mysterio find replacements in time for Sunday, or will this be a handicap affair?

Mickie James w/Lita
vs.
Trish Stratus w/Tyson Rude

How We Got Here:
Lita is still nursing injuries from her Last Woman Standing war with Victoria at Taboo Tuesday, and so Trish Stratus has taken it upon herself, after repeated challenges to the Women's Champion, to insert herself into a match at Survivor Series. She blindsided Lita's friend Mickie James with a Chick Kick this past Monday to send a message, and now the two will face off at the pay-per-view! Will Trish continue her warpath toward Lita, or will Mickie James pull off her most surprising victory yet?

4-on-4 Traditional Elimination Match

Team Style and Profile
vs.
Evolution w/Melina and Stephanie McMahon

How We Got Here:
Three WWE icons have taken the side of Ric Flair in his war against his former running mates, Evolution. Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, and The Rock will join "The Nature Boy" as they do battle with Evolution and the Intercontinental Champion, Johnny Nitro! With nothing more than pride on the line, will Evolution be able to put down four of the top stars of the past in the WWE, or will Flair's team be able to beat "The Game"?

5-on-5 Traditional Elimination Match

Team Dead Heat
vs.
The Next Big Things w/Paul Heyman

How We Got Here:
The battle lines have been drawn by Paul Heyman as for months, he has played favorites on the SmackDown roster. His hand-picked team of Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Luther Reigns, and the Lords of the Ring will square off with those whose ire he has drawn with his actions thus far in 2004. "The Man Beast" Rhyno was fired by Heyman back in the spring, but has made his return to wreak havoc on Paul's show! Will Heyman's reign of terror continue, or will Edge be able to coexist with the rest of his team and score a huge pay-per-view victory?

Shawn Michaels ©
vs.
Kane

How We Got Here:
For months, "The Big Red Machine" has sought to end the career of Shawn Michaels for supposed hypocrisy and to sate his own appetite for inflicting pain. Kane has waited his turn as Michaels became World Heavyweight Champion and then defended against the fans' choice Randy Orton at Taboo Tuesday, but there is no more waiting. Kane will get "The Heartbreak Kid" one-on-one and seek to claim the championship and end Shawn's career in the process. But as Shawn Michaels says - don't hunt what you can't kill. His resilience will surely show itself in this matchup, our main event, live on pay-per-view! And of course, "Mr. Money in the Bank" Christian is always lurking with his briefcase... Which one of these competitors will leave with the Big Gold Belt?

Comments on Previous Show: Good Raw, but what's happened with Lita? Is she really hurt, or are you just keeping her off-screen to sell the match she was in? A huge return for The Rock, but I really think I'm most excited to see where you take Shawn vs Kane.

I decided to let her sell the injuries because I wanted Mickie to get a PPV match for some more exposure. Before anyone gets all certain that she beats Trish now that I've said this, keep in mind that her pop would go up win or lose in this scenario :)

I'm glad to see someone's excited about Shawn/Kane. I think the two work as very good character foils to one another and even though Kane's a joke now, (and in 2004 around this time IRL he was in that awful feud with Snitsky while married to Lita and then he disappeared for awhile) he really could've been built better as a monster. I'm glad he's seen as a legit threat to Michaels, because he is. I've always been a Kane fan until the past couple of years.

Comments on Previous Show: I knew it! I knew that it was Taker. It was a great edition of SmackDown, let's see if Chavo is really telling the truth with this face turn (or not), as I'm pumped up for the Survivor Series.

You're quite the psychic, if only you chose Chavo instead of Hassan to be the final member :p

Will Christian cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase? No. It seems like a great time for it, especially since he doesn't have a match, but something tells me that's a red herring.

Comment: I really can't see where you go with either of these guys holding the title, so I'm going with HBK because of Christian holding the MITB.

The Doctors of Thuganomics (John Cena, Ron Simmons, and Londrick) vs. The Cabinet (JBL and The Chosen Ones) w/Sable

Survivor(s): JBL

Comment: This is a good place for the Cabinet to pick up a big win, as I'm guessing that you will be running either Cena vs JBL or Simmons vs JBL until Mania. The Cabinet picking up the win will keep that rolling.

WWE Survivor Series

Sunday, Week 2, November 2004

Gund Arena; Cleveland, OH

Our introduction video ends as Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler welcome us to the Survivor Series pay-per-view! The historic event airs for the 18th time, and for the third as a joint production between both RAW and SmackDown!

Jim Ross:
Hello everyone and welcome! I'm Jim Ross and I'm here at the Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio along with my broadcast partner Jerry "The King" Lawler! Tonight at the historic Survivor Series pay-per-view, rivalries will be settled and careers will be shortened. There will be winners, but there may be no survivors!

Jerry "The King" Lawler:
You've got that right, JR, this is going to be an exciting pay-per-view and I can't wait to get started!

The camera switches over to the other announce table, where Michael Cole and Tazz are standing by!

Michael Cole:
Thank you JR and King, and welcome to the SmackDown side! I'm Michael Cole alongside Tazz and while no SmackDown titles are on the line tonight, the stakes couldn't be higher as months of turmoil between Eddie Guerrero and General Manager Paul Heyman come to a head right here in this building!

Tazz:
It's gunnah be a blockbustah, Cole! Everybuddy knows SmackDown's got the best action in wrestling and tonight we're gonna show just how awesome we are!

4-on-4 Traditional Elimination Match

The Doctors of Thuganomics
vs.
The Cabinet w/Sable

John Cena kicked this one off against Elijah Burke, all the while motioning for JBL to get inside the ring and face him. JBL would do nothing of the sort, and Burke took advantage of the distracted US Champion by catching him from behind and tagging in his stablemates Jordan and Porter seamlessly. Cena would fight his way out and get a tag to Paul London, who began to run circles around Porter.
This turned the tides in the favor of the good guys, and Porter was eliminated following a Shooting Star Press from Paul London!

Next in the ring was Bradshaw, who saw an opportunity against a smaller athlete and attacked from behind. This allowed his team to take control using underhanded tactics as Jordan and Burke would choke and punch from the outside. This would prompt Team Cena to argue with the referee, allowing London to be picked apart even more! A hot tag to “The Doctor of Thuganomics” led to chaos between both teams. With Jordan the legal man, Simmons chased JBL down the aisle and Londrick were both sent flying over the ropes! Jordan and Burke teamed up on Cena in the corner, but the US Champion started to fight back.
With Burke on the top rope and Jordan on the second rope, Cena was somehow able to lift both men atop his shoulders and toss them off for an F-U, making the cover on the legal man Orlando Jordan, eliminating him from the match!

Once the chaos calmed down and Simmons threw JBL back into the ring, Bradshaw was deemed the legal man! Realizing that he was in the ring with Cena, he threw a thumb to the eye and tagged in Burke! Cena’s team was firing on all cylinders at this point, however, and Paul London launched himself over the ropes onto JBL, who had gotten off the apron!
Simmons applied a beatdown to Elijah Burke, who was reeling after the match had spiraled out of control! This left Burke open to a Tornado DDT from Kendrick, knocking Elijah out of the matchup!

This left just one man – the former United States Champion JBL, who, rather than face his doom, walked up the aisle to the back again! This prompted John Cena to run after him and throw him right into the apron! He threw him into the ring and a beatdown began. After a couple of minutes of a barrage, Cena hit the F-U on JBL. Next, Kendrick came in and hit the Sliced Bread #2! London, the 450 Splash! And finally…the crowd began a crescendo as they pointed to his former friend Ron Simmons!
JBL was trying to come to his senses as the 4-on-1 attack culminated with a big Spinebuster as Simmons made the cover on JBL, grabbing the victory for Team Cena!

Cole:
They did it! JBL has to release Simmons' contract! Ron Simmons is a free member of SmackDown once again!

Officially free from Bradshaw’s grasp, Simmons celebrates as a member of the winning Survivor Series team! Cena raises his hand as Londrick celebrates on either turnbuckle! JBL and The Cabinet retreat to the back, having been out-wrestled from the opening bell here in the first match on the pay-per-view!

Ladies and gentlemen, we're going to take you backstage right now because Todd Grisham is standing by with the World Heavyweight Champion, "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels!

In the back, Todd Grisham welcomes his guest,
“The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels
. He asks about Shawn’s last thoughts heading into his title defense against Kane. Michaels puts his arm around him.

"You know, Todd, “The Heartbreak Kid” has been here since Day 1 of Kane’s career. If you remember, I was in that cell on that night where that big red masked man came into the WWE. Luckily he didn’t have his sights on HBK, because I’m sure I’d have been in a lot more pain that night. Now sometime along the line, something turned Kane against “The Heartbreak Kid,” it could’ve been my success, my faith – hell, maybe it was just my dashing good looks – but it’s something that’s gonna end tonight. He wants to end my career? Well I think he’s going to find that when HBK is in a corner…that’s when I dig deep and kick his head clean off!"

Tag Team Turmoil

Rob Van Dam and Shelton Benjamin ©
vs.
The Dudley Boyz
vs.
La Resistance
vs.
The Aristocracy

This Tag Team Turmoil match saw Robert Conway lock up with D-Von Dudley to begin the matchup. Any man was allowed to be tagged in at any time, so all eight competitors were on their heels at all times. Conway gained the upper hand on Dudley thanks to a cheap punch from Regal on the outside and La Resistance went to work. They worked over D-Von’s ribs to start out, looking to regain their lost titles. Conway tagged in RVD, who showed no remorse to his ECW brethren. After a tag to Damien Warlock, D-Von broke free to tag in his partner Bubba Ray! Bubba laid some fists into the face of Warlock,
and he was able to keep the motor going long enough to catch Sylvain Grenier with the Bubba Bomb and then a 3-D with his half-brother, taking La Resistance out of the match!

Shelton took advantage of this, jumping in and attacking D-Von, the now legal man. Benjamin used his quick strikes to wear down his larger adversary, as he and Van Dam worked some fast offensive techniques onto him. Benjamin monkey flip, RVD Rolling Thunder! D-Von kicked out, and that’s when The Aristocracy chose to pick their entry into the match. A blind tag by Warlock to Van Dam led to some boots to the chest and head of D-Von Dudley. Warlock picked him up, jawing to the crowd, and it ironically culminated in him taking a jawbreaker from D-Von! A hot tag to Shelton; Benjamin started to go off on Warlock! Warlock catches the leg and spins Shelton around – Dragon Whip! Damien finds his way into the corner, and as Shelton catches him with the Stinger Splash, Benjamin’s tapped on the shoulder for the tag by….William Regal?

Regal gets into the ring and helps Warlock to his feet. The two occupy the corner previously held by La Resistance to regroup rather than fight! As Regal turns around, he’s clocked by Bubba Ray Dudley, who drags him by the hair to his own corner and tags himself in! While the referee tries to sort the chaos out, Bubba Ray is cracked in the face by Damien, falling backwards on the mat, out cold!
Warlock slips an object back into his trunks and makes the cover – The Dudleyz are eliminated!

Despite the plea of D-Von to the referee, The Dudleyz are sent to the back! Warlock and Regal start to work over the champs, putting a bit of a beatdown on Rob Van Dam. Regal tried to lock in the Regal Stretch, but RVD wouldn’t allow it! He was able to shove Regal backwards with his feet and go for the tag to Benjamin, but Warlock was tagged in and knocked Shelton off the ropes! After a minute or so of putting the boots to Van Dam, Warlock looked for the finishing blow.
He went for a Full Nelson Slam, but RVD slid out and was able to roll Warlock up with his feet, catching his adversary off guard for the successful title defense!

Lawler:
Oh no! Regal and Warlock had it won! I can't believe it, that was two, ref!

After the match, RVD rolls right out of the ring as The Aristocracy are livid! Benjamin retrieves the title belts as he and Van Dam raise them in the air to the delight of the crowd! Regal and Warlock bang on the ground and plead with the referee as Benjamin and Van Dam hug, holding their belts high as they walk up the ramp!

With Dupree’s team in the ring, the cruiserweight team of Mysterio, Dragon, and Billy Kidman came out to the ramp. Crazy comes out to a decent pop, but he’s not the last one – it’s one of the top cruiserweights in the world, Psychosis! He comes out in his mask for the first time in WWE and the WCW fans in the crowd are very excited for his debut!

5-on-5 Traditional Elimination Match

Cruiser Control
vs.
The Round Table w/Theodore Long

The match begins with Billy Kidman taking on Matt Hardy. Any questions as to whether or not the cruiserweight team would feel ill effects from its constant flux were unfounded; they worked together as a team quite well due to their similar styles.
However, Kidman found himself the first man out after a World’s Strongest Slam from Mark Henry.
Down one, the cruiserweights needed to make a quick response in order to turn the matchup around,
and they were able to when Psychosis hit a Guillotine Legdrop to eliminate the Television Champion!

Jindrak squared off with Psychosis next, and he ran circles around his slower adversary before tagging in Mysterio. Rey-Rey kept the pace up as Crazy and Psychosis ran across the ring to knock Henry, Chavo, and Dupree off the ropes!
The ensuing 6-1-9 and Droppin’ Da Dime knocked Jindrak from the contest!
The remaining three members argued over who went in next, and this led to Henry tossing Chavo forcefully into the ring!
He never had a chance; after a short flurry, each of the cruiserweights hit their finishers – Moonsault, Asai DDT, Guillotine Legdrop, and 6-1-9 for the elimination of their traitor Guerrero!

Dupree and Henry couldn’t believe what was happening, and Henry re-entered the match. From here, it was a war-path on the part of the World’s Strongest Man.
He countered a Super Crazy Moonsault into a World’s Strongest Slam, ending the luchador’s night. Ultimo Dragon got essentially the same treatment, but it was a Death Valley Driver from Dupree that finished him off.
The cruisers would gain some momentum as Dupree was hit with the 6-1-9, but when Psychosis was tagged in to end Dupree’s time in the match, Henry threw him off the turnbuckle into the barricade, and after a World’s Strongest Slam on the outside,
Psychosis was eliminated via countout – but Henry was tossed by disqualification!

A fracas ensued at ringside with Mysterio coming off the apron to dropkick Henry, Super Crazy coming back down to ringside to Psychosis’ defense, and the rest of both teams causing chaos around the ring area! Inside the ring, Mysterio ran at Dupree in the corner, looking to hit him, but went face first into the exposed turnbuckle!
The referee turned around just in time to see Dupree rolling Rey up (but he did not see Rene subtly holding the tights) as The Round Table came out victorious!

The SmackDown GM
Paul Heyman
stands in the back with
The Next Big Things
, and he speaks on behalf of his squad.

"I don’t quite think that Eddie Guerrero and his band of misfit rejects quite
understand
the men whom they will be tasked with taking on later tonight. So, as the advocate for this team, I will introduce them all to you. First, this man is six foot five. He is
nearly three hundred pounds
. He has been fighting for his life since childhood. He has committed
unspeakable acts
to get where he is today. He has been in
prison
. He has been
stabbed
. And he has seen far more in his life than you can even imagine. And he will not think twice when it comes to
pummeling your face
into the ground. This, ladies and gentlemen, is Luther Reigns."

The crowd boos as Reigns flashes a sadistic, menacing smile.

"These men are two of the
deadliest
technical wrestlers in the WWE. Lance Storm, a seven-time tag team champion, a United States Champion, an Intercontinental Champion; and Charlie Haas, a man who has held gold all across the nation including on three occasions in the WWE. These men know
exactly
the angles and the force with which to stretch and tear their opponents’ ligaments, causing
precisely
as much pain as they desire to inflict. These men are the Lords of the Ring, and they will not hesitate to tear you to pieces like wolves should I so command."

Haas and Storm stare into the camera, affirming Heyman’s assertions.

"The next man, Mr. Guerrero and Company, I’m sure you all know quite well. He’s the gold medal winner in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, and he has done it all in this business. He is one of
six
Grand Slam Champions, and he possesses the ability to render you immobile and ruin your future by
snapping your ankles
in a single moment. So when you’re sitting at home and your wife has to serve you your meals in bed for months and push you around in a wheelchair in public, you can tell your
disappointed children
that “Your Olympic Hero” Kurt Angle broke Daddy’s ankle."

Angle arrogantly nods and pats Heyman on the back.

"And
finally
…this man is unlike any other we have seen before in this business. Two short years ago, his reign of terror began with a whirlwind of destruction. Within months of entering this yard, he declared it his own by decimating The Rock, ending Hulk Hogan’s career, and leaving The Undertaker a bloody mess inside Hell in a Cell. Oh yeah, and he’s also the
youngest
WWE Champion in history. He is the man whose
footsteps
you hear in your
nightmares
and he is the man who puts
tears
in the eyes of
children
! Ladies and gentlemen, meet
Brrrrrrrrock Lesnar
!"

Lesnar laughs and nods, hopping back and forth, clearly ready for the match.

"So Mr. Guerrero, Mr. Edge, and the rest, you have signed a contract. And this contract means that you are going to be
pulverized
beyond recognition right here tonight by my team of ruthless warriors. And on behalf of these defenders of Paul Heyman’s SmackDown, I have two words for you…
good luck
."

4-on-4 Traditional Elimination Match

Team Style and Profile
vs.
Evolution w/Melina and Stephanie McMahon

The opening bell rang and Chris Benoit squared off with Batista. “Evolution’s Animal” used his strength to overpower Benoit in the early going, tagging his partners in and out.
A Benoit rally about 8 minutes in led to a miscommunication between Hunter and Batista, and he was able to roll up Batista for a shocking elimination!
“The Animal” stood up and his eyes exploded with rage as he immediately targeted “The Rabid Wolverine,” planting him with a Batista Bomb! He went on to attack all of Flair’s team standing on the apron,
leaving Benoit ripe for a pinfall elimination at the hands of Triple H!

Flair rushed in the ring next and “The Nature Boy” laid a whooping on “The Game” for a couple of minutes, getting the crowd into it. HHH would tag Orton and double team Flair, which led to Rock and Jericho coming in to protect their partner.
Behind the referee’s back, Nitro blasted Flair with the Intercontinental Title and he was pinned by “The Legend Killer!”
After a few more minutes of gloating by Evolution as they currently were up three members to two, a furious rally by both The Rock and Chris Jericho led to despair at ringside;
Melina unleashed a piercing scream as her man Johnny Nitro was forced to submit to the Walls of Jericho!

The match was now down to a two-on-two elimination tag team affair. A rake to the eyes by Triple H served to quell Jericho’s rally. The two men on the outside found themselves involved in the match as The Rock put Orton through the announce table with a thunderous Rock Bottom! Shocked, Triple H was essentially in a Handicap match as Rock begged for a tag from the outside. “The Cerebral Assassin” taunted Rock with Jericho’s body, but Y2J began another rally!
However, this one was ended when Triple H put his knees up for a Lionsault attempt and hit a quick Pedigree to eliminate Jericho!
The Rock and Triple H were the final two standing as the crowd went wild with every punch – boos for Hunter, cheers for Rock. Triple H whipped Rock into the corner – directly into referee Chad Patton!

With the referee down, the two engaged in a scrum of biting, punching, and kicking as the rules were thrown out the window for a moment. A minute or two later, Stephanie McMahon got up on the apron and took off one of her heels, telling her husband to bring Rock over! Triple H goes to throw Rock into the sharp heel, but Rock reverses and sends HHH careening into his wife, knocking Stephanie off the apron! Hunter turns around – Rock Bottom! People’s Elbow!
The Rock covers “The Game” as Patton crawls over for a three count!

Team Style and Profile stands tall! The Rock celebrates in the ring while Triple H and Stephanie get into it on the outside, a clear miscommunication between the McMahon family. As The Rock celebrates, a man slides into the ring behind him – Rock turns around – RKO!
Randy Orton had recovered from going through the table, and Orton makes the cover to win the match for his team as the sole survivor!

JR:
Oh my God, King! Randy Orton has pinned The Rock! "The Legend Killer" strikes again!

With “Line in the Sand” blaring in the background, Triple H does not seem to care much that his team emerged victorious. Batista does not come out to celebrate, nor does Nitro. Triple H and Stephanie argue at ringside as Randy Orton celebrates his victory alone in the ring!

Mickie James w/Lita
vs.
Trish Stratus w/Tyson Rude

This one was personal to say the least. Mickie looked to gain revenge on Stratus for her attack this past week, and Lita was at ringside to view the whole thing. They locked up early and engaged in a bit of a chain wrestling match, which Mickie actually got the better of! This frustrated Trish, who saw a few of her attempts to take control of the match thwarted by her less experienced foe. Mickie ducked an early Chick Kick and landed a jumping Enzuigiri to Trish, with Tyson Rude lurking at ringside. Trish kicked out, and the Women’s Champion continued to cheer her friend on from ringside. The commentary team wondered out loud if Lita would give Mickie a title shot if she were able to defeat Trish here tonight.

The tide turned completely as Tyson Rude began to walk around the ring toward the still-injured Lita. Mickie started screaming at him as he walked closer, and he just grinned as James turned around into a flattening clothesline from Trish! As much as Mickie dominated the early going, Trish suffocated her opponent up until the end. Brutal-looking move after brutal move, Trish threw everything in her arsenal at her opponent: a Powerbomb, a Superplex, and a Spinebuster were the highlights. Mickie kicked out as much as she possibly could, but as the match wore on she was simply out on her feet. A Chick Kick and a Stratusfaction mercifully ended this one in favor of Trish.

Lawler:
Man, I hope poor Mickie James is okay, but Trish looked unstoppable here tonight, JR.

After the match, Trish laughs and flashes an evil grin toward the Women’s Champion at ringside. Mickie James is out cold as Lita comes into the ring and Trish talks some trash to her. Trish blows air into her hand and shines up the belt sitting around Lita’s waist before leaving the champion to tend to her fallen ally. Rude menacingly accompanies her to the back.

5-on-5 Traditional Elimination Match

Team Dead Heat
vs.
The Next Big Things w/Paul Heyman

The WWE Champion kicked this one off against Lance Storm, seemingly recovered from getting Tombstoned a couple of nights ago. Guerrero’s machismo meant that he wanted to take on everybody, and it showed in the early going as he out-wrestled Storm. All ten of these men were able to get in and show off a bit, with the technical Team Heyman wearing down members of Dead Heat until their heart came into play – the first elimination occurred as, while looking for the Gore, Rhyno got blindsided with an F-5 from the illegal man Brock Lesnar!
Luther Reigns made the pin and Dead Heat was down to just four.

Bryan Lloyd entered the match next as he and Reigns squared off. Lloyd used his martial arts-styled prowess to his advantage, landing hard kick after kick to the horse-like thighs of the big man. He brought Reigns to one knee and looked for a roundhouse kick to the face, but Reigns ducked and turned it into a Chokebomb! He hit the ropes after this with the express reason of knocking The Undertaker off the apron. This led to an all-out assault on Lloyd, but but was able to wriggle away and tag The Undertaker a few minutes later! The powerful bodyguard of Paul Heyman more than held his own against “The Deadman,” matching him blow-for-blow, but a clothesline from ‘Taker took them both over the top rope to the floor! This fight spilled all the way up the ramp with The Undertaker getting the upper-hand by slamming Reigns onto the ramp with a Chokeslam!
But it was too late – both men had been counted out by the referee!
The Undertaker was shocked as Lesnar and Co. laughed – “The Phenom” had to go to the back!

Charlie Haas stepped in the ring next with Edge. He looked to work the taller Canadian superstar over and he went to work on his legs with a half-Boston Crab. Each member of the team was able to have their hits at Edge, including his fierce rival Brock Lesnar. Lesnar toyed with Edge until Edge started to fight back with punches, he bounced off the ropes and hit a spinning heel kick, and was able to crawl to the corner and tag in Lloyd! Lesnar tagged in Angle, and he and Lloyd went at it in the middle of the ring! Angle whipped Lloyd into the corner, but Bryan hopped up to the top rope and flipped over, landing behind Kurt! Lloyd hit a Superkick, knocking Angle back and he went into the opposite corner to hit another running strike. However, Haas and Storm distracted the referee, prompting Eddie to run over and look to hit them! Out of nowhere,
Bryan Lloyd was hit with a Reverse STO by the interfering Muhammad Hassan, and Angle quickly made the cover to eliminate Lloyd!
Hassan smiled arrogantly and sneaked back through the crowd as Lloyd was sent to the back!

Eddie came in next against Lesnar and the crowd buzzed for this matchup once again. Despite Eddie hitting the Three Amigos at one point, Brock was able to take control, working over the back of his smaller foe with powerful submission holds. Brock kicked Eddie in the head a couple of times and tagged in Lance Storm. Eddie had had a second to breathe at this point,
and Storm tried to pick him up, but was immediately caught in a small package and Guerrero made it a 3-on-2 match!
Kurt Angle immediately jumped on Eddie like a dog, attacking his lower back and ankle area to render him immobile. Angle put the boots to the champion and locked in the Ankle Lock! Guerrero showed perseverance as Edge put his arm out for the champion to tag. Eddie edged closer and closer to the corner…but Angle pulled him back! After more of a struggle, Guerrero finally was able to kick him off, limp, and jump to the corner! Edge was tagged in, and so was Charlie Haas!
Edge wasted absolutely no time, immediately catching Haas with a Spear and a pinfall!

The crowd was back into this one as Team Dead Heat was now even! Angle jumped back into the match but was caught with some right hands by Edge. He bounced off the ropes and looked for another Spear, but Angle kicked him in the cut and locked in a guillotine choke, wrenching on Edge’s surgically repaired neck! Eddie was able to break it up, and this brought Brock into the ring. He rushed at Eddie but ended up running into the referee, getting knocked out of the ring by Guerrero in the process! With the referee out, Guerrero brought a chair into the ring! Charles Robinson began to stir as Eddie lined up Angle for a chair shot, but simply tossed the chair to him and fell to the ground, feigning a head injury!
Angle was caught with the chair in his hand and disqualified!

“The Olympic Hero” was livid and bashed Eddie in the head with the chair before walking out with the referee still coming to his senses. Brock walked in smiling and put one foot on Guerrero, but Eddie kicked out! A brutal battle ensued, with Eddie returning every shot that Brock hit him with. Finally, Brock hit a German Suplex and went for the F-5, but Guerrero reversed it into a Tornado DDT! Eddie crawled to the corner – another tag to Edge! The crowd could feel the end coming – Edgecution to Lesnar! Edge stood in the corner…gritting his teeth and bouncing up and down while motioning for Brock to get up…Spear to Lesnar! Tag back to Eddie – he slowly and gingerly climbs to the top rope….Frog Splash!
Guerrero makes the cover – 1, 2, 3!

Cole:
Oh my God, they did it! Eddie and Edge have done it! They've overcome all odds!

Tazz:
This is off the chain, Cole! I can't believe they beat Brock Lesnuh!

The crowd is stunned – Edge and Eddie Guerrero have survived! Guerrero celebrates as Edge comes out of the ring and drops off the apron, leaving his teammate in the ring alone. Eddie looks down at him and motions him into the ring. Edge’s expression does not change, but he gets back inside, standing up and staring Eddie down. The two have a tense moment before Edge actually extends his hand for a handshake! Guerrero smiles and shakes Edge’s hand as the two hug and then pose for the crowd, victorious!

A video package airs next – it shows the long and elaborate path of destruction laid by
Kane

“The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels
. Their title encounter is up next!

vs.
Kane

This match was hot from the start as Shawn Michaels himself has been absolutely ablaze as of late on RAW. He cautiously approached Kane and ducked under a grapple attempt, trying to take the back. Kane swung his arms back and one of his elbows caught Michaels in the head, knocking him off. Kane approached again, but Michaels slid through his legs and started to kick him from behind. This seemed to make Kane wince, but he was right back on the offensive, eventually grabbing Michaels by the hair as he tried to evade him once more. He knocked HBK back into the corner with a series of throat thrusts, before unleashing some more vicious strikes until the referee tried to push him out of the corner, threatening a disqualification. Kane backed off and then ran at Michaels, clotheslining him into the corner! Shawn took three steps out and flopped on the ground, but Kane was unsuccessful in his pin attempt.

Michaels fought back for a short while, landing some forearms and an Enzuigiri, knocking Kane to one knee. As he bounced off the ropes, Kane rose back up to his feet and tried to toss Shawn to the outside, but Michaels ‘skinned the cat,’ hanging on and pulling himself back over the top rope! Trying to catch his breath, Kane turned around into a clothesline over the top rope! Still on his feet, Kane was knocked to the ground when Michaels came over the top rope with a slingshot crossbody! The crowd was electric as Michaels felt the energy! He started to lay a vicious beating on Kane, punching him repeatedly in the head and breaking up the ten count from the referee. Michaels went up to the top rope and hit a Moonsault down to the floor on Kane, laying them both out!

Michaels’ adrenaline rush continued for another few minutes as he tried to deal as much damage to Kane’s legs as possible. He slammed his legs into the ring post and even locked in a Figure Four Leglock around the post while Shawn was on the outside of the ring! Kane was in serious trouble back on the outside until he reversed an Irish Whip, sending Michaels shoulder-first into the steel steps! Kane started to laugh through his short, quick breaths as he reignited his onslaught from earlier. Like many of Shawn’s foes, Kane instantly went for the back, driving him hard into the barricade before rolling him into the ring. “The Big Red Machine” went for a cover, but no dice here. He immediately picked Shawn up and hit a backbreaker, holding it and wrenching Michaels’ spine over his knee as HBK screamed in agony.

For the next few minutes, Kane became increasingly frustrated as none of his power moves were enough to finish “The Heartbreak Kid.” A tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, a powerslam, his patented running DDT, and a gutwrench Powerbomb didn’t do the job, so Kane tossed Michaels’ limp body through the ropes and looked to deal more damage on the outside. He tore the monitors and the cover off of another announce table and looked to Chokeslam Michaels through it! HBK slid out of the hold and hit some punches and forearms, knocking Kane backward as he leaned against the table. Michaels looked for a move that would set him up, so he went with ol’ reliable – Sweet Chin Music! Kane rolled backwards onto the table as Michaels fell to one knee. He looked into the crowd, who began to explode, wanting Kane to go through the table! Michaels climbed to the top rope and stood there, contemplating his choice…….and launched himself across to the table, landing a diving elbow drop as the table collapsed underneath the force!

Michaels’ sacrifice led to him writhing in pain on the ground as the two men were in a pile of table and human carcass. He may have taken the brunt of the pain, however, as Kane made it to his feet first! “The Big Red Machine” rolled Michaels in the ring at an eight count and tried to finish him, but HBK threw his shoulder up! Kane signaled for the end with a throat-slashing motion and went for the Tombstone, but Michaels slid out the back! Sweet Chin Music! But before Michaels could even make the cover, Kane sat up! He charged again, grabbed the shocked Michaels’ throat – Chokeslam!

Shawn somehow kicked out and Kane couldn’t believe it! He began to look around and wonder what he could possibly do to put Michaels away! As he grabbed him by the hair and lifted him up again, Michaels broke his clutch – Sweet Chin Music again! Kane was more rocked by this one, not knocked out but struggling to get to his feet. Michaels tuned up the band…stomping his foot on the ground in the corner…but Kane saw it coming! He put his hands up to his head anticipating Sweet Chin Music again, but instead got a kick to the knee! Kane fell to one knee and Michaels backed up a couple of steps, really getting full force and extension and blasting Kane one more time with Sweet Chin Music! He makes the cover:

The crowd goes berserk as “The Heartbreak Kid” has vanquished Kane! Despite the Big Red Machine’s best efforts, Shawn Michaels lives on! Kane rolls out of the ring as Shawn Michaels celebrates with his World Heavyweight Championship, having come out on top in one of the greatest uphill battles of his entire illustrious career!

JR:
There’s a reason this man is called “The Showstopper,” “The Icon,” “The Main Event,” and many other names – there’s no one in this business who creates more classic and unprecedented moments than “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels!

Lawler:
…I’m speechless, JR. I can’t believe Shawn Michaels actually won it!

JR:
Anything can happen here in the WWE, King, and tonight we saw one of the most improbable victories in history! I’m Jim Ross, and for my broadcast partner Jerry “The King” Lawler, as well as the SmackDown team of Michael Cole and Tazz, we thank you for tuning in to Survivor Series – good night everybody!
