The Journey of David Drescher - A Cornellverse Dynasty

Recommended Posts

So, I created a user character who is basically a clone of The Grand Avatar and started unemployed. I got a job in May 2013 (in-game time) and went from there. The goal of this game is to improve as a booker and eventually to be the head booker for the biggest company in the world and/or to create my own company once I reach the appropriate reputation. This means that I don't plan on playing one company forever, but I don't want to hop between companies, either.

Before I want to start, some quick things that I'd like to mention: This is my first try at a dynasty, so I don't know how this is going to turn out. I decided to do this in order to keep interest in my save game and - in the best case - to entertain some people.

I also haven't watched wrestling regulary for a while, so my depictions might be a bit off. Thirdly, and most importantly: I'm not a native English speaker, so please go easy on me with regards to language diversity and vocabulary. Suggestions, corrections or any kind of feedback is always appreciated.

Preface

Hello, my name is David Drescher, I’m 25 years old and I’m from Germany. I’d like to tell you a story. It’s a story about me and my journey as a head booker in professional wrestling. I don’t know how it will end yet, but I already know the beginning.

It all started in June 2012. I was a commercial clerk in a medium-sized steel company until I became unemployed due to drops in orders. I had some beef with my boss, too and I think the bad business situation was just a drop in the bucket so that they were able to release me. Obviously, I looked for a new employment immediately, but I had no luck. After my training period, I had only worked in this company for one year, so in the eyes of the potential employers I probably didn’t have enough professional experience for them to hire me.

When I was still sitting at home at the end of 2012 I began to think about alternatives. Starting another training program would mean another three years of going to school, studying up and getting paid almost as little as the unemployment compensation I got. So, I quickly dropped this idea. There was another thing that came to my mind, though. More crazy, less conventional and according to my family and friends utterly unrealistic and stupid: I wanted to try my luck as a booker in the pro wrestling industry.

Granted, it was very unrealistic for a complete nobody to try to get a job in the world of wrestling. Even I knew that in pro wrestling, it's so much about connections and knowing people that know people who know people… Apart from that, the payment would probably be worse than any social benefits here in Germany. But in this case I didn’t mind.

The job as a clerk was something I did due to a lack of alternatives and because I had to pay my bills somehow, not because it was the job of my dreams. But wrestling has always been my passion.

I’ve been a wrestling fan since my childhood and used to cheer for the likes of Christian Faith, Sam Keith and Sean McFly. As I grew up, I got more and more interested in the behind-the-scenes-goings-on and began to understand how the wrestling business works. So, while becoming a booker has always been a dream of mine, I thought that it might be a good moment to at least try to make this dream come true. What did I have to lose? I would still be trying to get a conventional job and would take the first opportunity anyways, even if it would mean going back into the office.

While I spent time writing applications and, despite some unsuccessful job interviews, only received rejections in return, I also browsed the internet to look for open positions in wrestling. It was really tough to find something suitable. I even went to local wrestling events within my proximity, but there was no chance to get involved in any way. The tiny independent promotions in my area were really just awful and the likes of EWA, VWA or UEW, the three biggest companies in Europe, didn’t look for a rookie, either.

However, in May of 2013 a hardcore promotion opened in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. They call themselves the Phoenix Wrestling Company (PWC), claiming to “rise from the ashes of the East Coast Wars”. Insiders in pro wrestling history will certainly know that term. If not, I’d advise you to google it for further explanation. In short: The East Coast Wars were an infamous battle between four companies on the American east coast which was won by the hardcore promotion Danger And Violence Extreme (DAVE).

Anyways, the PWC was founded by Steve Flash, an icon for many, especially for his time with North of the Border Pro Wrestling and Canadian Golden Combat. He also worked for Rapid Pro Wrestling, a small company that was involved in the East Coast Wars, which makes Flash a credible person to open a follow-up company like the PWC claims to be.

They had already set up a facebook page and I contacted the company letting them know that I’d like to become a head booker and that I wanted to try my first steps in this company. I never received an answer, probably because they thought I was joking. They had already quickly scheduled their first show, so I assumed they had everything worked out already. They wouldn't need a booker anymore and certainly not such a complete unknown like me.

It was a sad incident that got me a second chance, though. Not even two weeks after opening his new company, Steve Flash surprisingly died at the age of only 46. I was shocked to hear that – well, as shocked as you can be about someone you really had never met in person. But I was aware of his merits to the wrestling industry, so it was very sad to hear about his passing.

It didn’t take too long before the promotion presented their new owner: Pee-Wee Germaine, a referee from California, took over the company and guess what he did: He replied to my e-mail I had written them earlier this month. Since they had already scheduled a show in New Jersey, they quickly needed somebody to actually book it and the events that would follow. The organization probably didn’t have much time to be selective about it, so they offered me the head booker position of the company.

Needless to say, I agreed and to make a long story short, I moved to the U.S to jump at the chance of my life. So here I am now, having made my dream come true. I'm the head booker of a professional wrestling company.

I invite you to follow my journey; I don’t have a clue where this is going, let alone whether I’m going to be successful. If you want to know, read on and you’ll eventually find out. This is the Journey of David Drescher.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Friday, Week 4, May 2013</span></strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This morning, I had a meeting with my new boss Pee-Wee Germaine and he explained all the important things I needed to know. He also handed me a small folder with some information about the company, such as the product definition and an overview of the initial roster Steve Flash had already put together along with several useful video links to get familiar with the wrestlers. For a small company like the PWC, I thought there were some very great athletes. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As far as Clark (Pee-Wee’s real first name), he’s a pretty nice guy and I think we’ll cooperate very well in the future.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Looking at the product sheet, I initially noticed that it was actually very detailed, even though the promotion hadn’t even held a show yet. Our style is called “East Coast Hardcore” and Clark wants to establish this as a brand for which the Phoenix Wrestling Company should be recognized for in the future. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The key features of the PWC are Hardcore and Cult, with the latter referring to a kind of alternative/underground style trying to appeal to the 18-30 male audience. In addition, we are going to have heavy comedy, risqué (which comes along with a high T&A level), modern and daredevil influences. A medium level of traditional wrestling and a low level of realism rounds out the product. As a wrestling fan, hardcore wrestling has really never been my my cup of tea, but I’ll probably get to like it. We’ll have a clear face/heel divide so that everyone knows at first glance who to cheer for and who to shout down. Women’s wrestling will be ignored completely, which is certainly a good idea given the extreme product the PWC will be offering. I really can’t imagine some good-looking ladies beating each other up with weapons until they bleed. The match-to-angle ratio would be around 90 %, so that there’ll be a clear emphasis on the in-ring action. The guidelines for the match length are at 10 minutes for a minor match, 15 minutes for a medium-level match and 25 minutes for a major match. This would mean that our main eventers would have to have at least some decent stamina and psychology to work their matches, even more so with the match danger being at 70 % and the match intensity at 40 %.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After getting familiar with our product and our roster, I did some research on the other promotions in our area. The Tri-State region was famous for its high density of wrestling promotions during the East Coast War, but with the end of this era I wasn’t familiar about the state of pro wrestling in the North East of the USA. As it turned out, there are two other companies we will have to compete with. On the one hand, there is a promotion called Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling, a company owned by our announcer and the former voice of Danger And Violence Extreme, Mitch Naess. Since DAVE’s closure, PSW have been looking to step into their shoes and have been quite successful. They have regularly been selling out the Ministry, a converted church in Queens, New York. Recently, they moved to Pennsylvania Park in Pittsburgh, where the capacity is bigger and have already sold out the 2,000 seat venue. I figured that our product is pretty similar to theirs and there are currently three workers who we share with them. There is a definite potential for conflicts with them and chances are that we are in a worse position given that the PWC isn’t yet as established as Pittsburgh Steel. Another company in our proximity is New York City Wrestling, which is owned by Cameron Vessey’s father and 90’s legend Larry Vessey. NYCW has a more traditional approach to wrestling. They might still get in our way one way or another, but I don’t think we have a mutual fan base. I decided to contact both promotions about a working agreement. We claim to adopt the legacy of the East Coast Wars, but I think it is a better move for our company to try to work together with the other companies in our area since we are the smallest of the three. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Before calling it a day, I took a closer look at our finances and what I quickly realized was that our payroll was quite big compared to the income I had calculated. After crunching the numbers back and forth, I came to the conclusion that I had to release some of our workers. As every single one of them was paid on a pay-per-appearance basis (with one exception, everyone had an additional monthly downside), I was able to let them go immediately. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

I made a list of workers who I didn’t necessarily need and/or who were too expensive for us starting with the out-of-ring workers. Our road agent Archie Judge was on top of this list as he is the one with the biggest paycheck. I figured that some of our in-ring-workers were able to do his job at least for a limited time. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Next were our managers Carl Batch and Ernie Turner. We really don’t need any managers in a company with such a high emphasis on the actual matches. If I feel the need for somebody to talk during our events, there are certainly a few wrestlers who have the abilities to talk on their own. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Our broadcasting team Mitch Naess and Catherine Quine were the next ones I had to cut from the roster. Without a television show, I don’t really need them, although Catherine is said to be a locker room leader. But her payment was very big as well, so I had no other choice. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cueball Lynch is the only out-of-ring worker I can afford keeping on our roster since he has no downside agreement. He is said to be a positive backstage influence, so he’ll stay with us even though I have no use for him. Hopefully, he won’t get unhappy about not being booked. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Wilson Carlisle was the next one on my “to fire” list. I’d probably have kept him if it weren’t for Pee-Wee Germaine who is at least as good a referee as Wilson is. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Unfortunately, I had no other choice but to cut some of our active wrestlers, as well and I decided for Puerto Rican Power, Snow Fox and Sgt. Bubba Lee West. Especially Bubba has a pretty hefty wage considering he is an undercarder at the start and a rather negative influence in the locker room, too.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Being aware that I would have to do some awkward telephone conversations before our show tomorrow, I went to bed.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Ash Campbell has definite pedigree, being the son of the famous wrestler John 'Nemesis' Campbell. He has inherited his father's charisma, and that means that Campbell is likely to be a very hot prospect once he matures fully. Given his obvious links to DAVE, it came as no surprise when Ash turned up in Mitch Naess' Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling promotion shortly after it began. Since joining PSW, Ash has risen up the rankings quickly, although his transformation in recent years from a thin athletic build to a much chunkier version (again, echoing his dad) has called into question his motivation and training habits.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

"Hands Of Stone" Bradford Peverell is an American wrestler whose first taste of fame came in 2007 when he was hired by the new FCW promotion in Puerto Rico; prior to this he has been a regular on the American independent scene. He has quickly become one of the huge success stories of the promotion, and their first real "home grown" star.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The tall, rangey Peverell is primarily a straight-ahead brawler, but loves to play to the crowd as much as possible, regardless of whether he is face or heel. Part of his "hands of stone" gimmick is that he has awesome knock out power in his left hook, and so a lot of his psychology is based around that.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

"The Second Generation Superstar" Cameron Vessey is the son of the legendary Larry and nephew of Bryan. Trained primarily by his uncle, Cameron is a solid all-round wrestler and is already looking like a fantastic prospect for future glory; he should have no problem carrying on the legacy of the family name. In 2007 he made his debut for Mid Atlantic Wrestling, having been recommended to Rip Chord by his dad. Since then he has formed a pretty good tag team with Casey Valentine ("C-V-2") and was the leader-of-sorts of The Succession, a stable of young wrestlers with family ties to the business that also includes Jay Chord and Brett Starr. In recent years Vessey has firmly established himself as perhaps the greatest star in MAW history, having become the first person to win every possible title.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Findlay O'Farraday is a big brawler from Cobb County, Georgia. The 300lb southerner made his pro debut in early 2006, and spent the next year and a half on the local independent scene working on his skills and developing a reputation for good, solid old-school ring work. Somewhere along the way a video of him in action ended up on a file-sharing web site, and a link to the video found its way onto Rip Chord's laptop. Once somebody had explained to Rip how to view the clip (which came shortly after the explanation about what the Internet was, which came shortly after the explanation of how to turn the computer on) and he'd taken a look, an invitation was sent out and O'Farraday was on his way to MAW. He has proved to be a big hit, and his popularity was such that the fans basically turned him face by themselves in 2009. He had a hugely impressive almost two-year reign as MAW champion in 2010-2012.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Once he was separated from his more talented partner (Frederique Antonio Garcia) he began to struggle; being repackaged as "The Spanish Phenom" Mikel Alonso did nothing for his career, and he would then go through another change to become Super Starfish, the fouth member of the Underwater Union. In truth, the character was just created as the catalyst for the break-up of the stable, "the commotion in the ocean", and within months the character was history. Leaving the SWF in August 2007, he appeared under his new ring name for the first time with FCW just a month later. He now seems to have finally found stability, and is a major name for the promotion, as well as the head booker since the tragic death of Shawn Gonzalez.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

"The Dread Pirate" Hugh de Aske is a young worker who has genuine blood lines to some famous pirates of the 17th and 18th centuries, and plays that up in his character, acting and talking like one. Born in Belgium, he has French and English ancestory, but has spent most of his life living in Boston. An all-rounder, Hugh can do everything from brawling to high flying, and that makes him a valuable addition to any roster. "Southern Justice" Jack Griffith was, at one time, one of the hottest prospects in wrestling. Debuting for Shane Sneer's Southern Championship Class Wrestling in 2000, he fast became one of their brightest stars, winning their main singles title on two occasions and showcasing great natural ability. However, backstage problems and a growing dependency on alcohol sent him into a downward spiral, and for a few years he pretty much entirely disappeared from wrestling as he fought his demons instead of opponents. He made a much heralded return in 2007, working a handful of shows for DAVE just before its closure, but sadly all it proved was that time and alcohol have not been kind, and Griffith was clearly a shell of the exciting athlete he was in 2001.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Joffy "The Jackhammer" Laine is a bright young prospect from Texas, a 2011 graduate of the Piledriver School Of Wrestling. A good brawler who can also chain wrestle to a high standard, Joffy also has the benefit of being naturally charismatic and good on the mic. Kill Switch (Frankie Perez) is a talented wrestler from California, who has risen to cult stardom with Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling. A hard-hitter, Frankie is well known for his ultra stiff kicks, and it is his ultra-violent no-nonsense style of attack that has made him a huge favourite with tape traders and Internet fans around the world. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Thanks to his hard work, Perez has established himself as one of the cornerstones of CZCW, both with his singles and tag team work. He is closely associated with Mikey James - originally enemies who had some fantastic matches against each other, they would later become tag team championship winning partners as The Cali Dragons.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Malili "Akima Brave" Umaga is a solid worker, a part of the extended Samoan family of wrestlers (his older brother is Rav "Rhino" Umaga of Golden Canvas Grappling fame). He graduated from the Supreme Wrestling Federation training camp in 2005, making his pro debut in December of that same year. Brave is best known as one half of The Samoan Wildboyz tag team, alongside Kid Toma. In 2008, with their momentum stalling somewhat, the Wildboyz were turned heel in an atttempt to kick-start their careers - unfortunately it did not have the desired effect and by mid 2011 they were written off by the management as a lost cause and released.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Nelson Callum is a very promising young worker who first came to people's attention when he was signed by Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling in 2007. Primarily a technical wrestler, although one who can brawl if needed, he is considered one of the promotion's best youngsters, and the feeling is that if he continues to progress at his current level he could go on to become quite a star. He won his first major title in March 2009, beating fellow youngster Ash Campbell for the PSW National championship, and went on to add Krissy Angelle as a manager, enhancing his heelish image even more.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Clark "Pee-Wee" Germaine is a referee from Southern California who has been the head official for Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling for much of its recent past. A popular figure with almost everyone in wrestling, Pee-Wee also does a lot of backstage work for the promotion, including handling all the CZCW merchandise.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

What many people, including almost the entire CZCW roster, don't know is that Pee-Wee's family own GDL Chemicals Ltd (the 'G' stands for Germaine), one of the largest chemical companies in the world, and he is heir to an enormous family fortune. His wrestling activities are purely because he enjoys being in the business, not because he needs to work.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

"Psyche Out" Remmy Skye is a high flier from Georgia who has become something of a cult figure with Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling. Debuting in 2004 while just 20 years old, Skye quickly won over the fans with a combination of his oddly hypnotic charisma and his insane daredevil moves. Skye is often referred to as the "King Of The Ladder Match", which is down to the fact that he has been involved in some incredible ladder matches over the years, especially with Fox Mask and ex-Zoner Plague. He became CZCW champion for the first time in 2008, unseating James Prudence, and is now firmly established as one of the top faces of the promotion.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

A tall lean brawler, as his nickname suggests Robbie's main asset is his natural charisma and ability to connect with the fans. <div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Saturday, Week 4, May 2013</span></strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

I woke up early with my first ever wrestling event just around the corner. But before that, I had to call the workers mentioned in the previous entry and tell them that I can’t keep them on our roster. Obviously, nobody was happy about it, but most of them just accepted it, probably because they have other employments anyway. The only exception was Ernie Turner who was really pissed at me. As mentioned before, firing workers wasn’t something I was really happy to do, especially since it was just my first day. I felt like it would have been better to talk to them in person, but the guys live all around the country, so it would have been difficult to meet up with them. Maybe I just need to accept that some things need to be done and that these things often seem unfair. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Another problem: I had approached Mitch Naess for a working agreement with his company Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling. Telling him that he won’t be our announcer anymore was something I really wasn’t comfortable with, either. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As it turned out, he didn’t hold a grudge against me and agreed upon the cooperation while accepting his release at the same time. As the owner of his own company, he could probably put himself in my shoes and was therefore not angry with me.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Larry Vessey from New York City Wrestling gave a positive feedback on a working agreement, as well. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Within not even 24 hours, I had made working agreements with two established companies. We’d now be able to trade talent with each other, while neither of us is allowed to sign each other’s workers to an exclusive contract. Certainly a good deal for us. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Clark and I had made an appointment in Weston in the afternoon. I really hoped he was okay with my decision to release certain workers, but he didn’t even touch upon it. Instead, he got me some goals. “The PWC can’t fall into debt at any point.” I remember his exact words. For the next 32 months, I had to keep our finances in the black. Clark said that this company is his hobby and therefore he doesn’t want to run up a bill with the promotion. Furthermore, I can’t hire any wrestler over 38 for the next 14 months and he also doesn’t want me to hire anybody who is known to have problems with the law. This applies for the next 16 months.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Some reasonable, but restrictive goals for me. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After that was taken care of, I could concentrate on tonight’s event and it was time to get in touch with the guys in the locker room.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

First off all, I was glad that everyone had arrived on time. Maybe this is the German in me, but I hate when people are late. What I noticed, though, was that the backstage atmosphere is pretty bad. The death of Steve Flash has left its mark among the guys. There’s not much I can do about it right now. It’s more than okay for me that the guys are still grieving about Steve. However, my take on this is that life has to go on and I’m sure that the mourning about Steve will fade away in the coming months. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Despite all this, I had to tell the guys some fundamental rules: No hard drugs and no smoking in the locker room. If they feel the need for a drink or two, they are allowed to have one as long as their performance isn’t suffering. I know that Jack (Griffith) used to have some drinking problems, but I can only hope that he’s put these behind himself. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Everyone was okay with these basics and I figured it wouldn’t affect the locker room morale. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Before we were ready to kick off, I had a short meeting with Handsome Stranger and Brad Peverell, who will be my road agents at least until we can afford someone to do this job full-time. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Below is the event report from </div><a href="" rel=""></a><div style="margin-left:25px;"><a href="" rel="">http://www.tew.com,</a></div><a href="" rel=""></a><div style="margin-left:25px;"> completed with my personal notes.</div></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

From the Weston Gymnasium in Weston, NJ</span></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:14px;">

Attendance: 300 (sell-out)</span></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">The Weston Gymnasium was packed. 300 fans were looking forward for the PWC’s inaugural show. The hall was decorated with a big PWC banner above the entrance and their logo hanging from the ceiling. They also had a small merchandising stand were fans could buy PWC t-shirts, hoodies, stickers or baseball caps. As is right and proper for a hardcore promotion, the ringside area was already dotted with various weapons. The fans brought several weapons, too so that there was no lack of foreign objects. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Unfortunately, the show didn’t have any proper entrance music. Instead, the in-house DJs played some generic techno music. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

All matches were announced to take place under ‘East Coast Hardcore’ rules: No DQ, no count-out, no holds barred. And the card was very promising. Two former SWF superstars and one DAVE alumni were booked for the main event: Malili Umaga, Handsome Stranger and Jack Griffith would be fighting for the PWC Championship in a ladder match. Furthermore, the co-main event featured two “indy darlings” facing each other: Kill Switch (the alter ego of Frankie Perez) and Remmy Skye would go one-on-one. Also of note was the appearance of this year’s winner of Mid Atlantic Wrestling’s Rip Chord Invitational Challenge: Findlay O’Farraday.</div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></div><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/FindlayOFarraday.jpg</span><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/vs2.jpg</span><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/BradfordPeverell.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Findlay O‘Farraday vs. Bradford Peverell</span></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Speaking of which, O’Farraday opened the show fighting against FCW’s homegrown star “Hands Of Stone” Bradford Peverell. The fans saw a good brawl to kick off the night. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

O’Farraday came to the ring first with a serious look on his face. He didn’t watch right nor left and just came stomping down to the ring. His opponent wasted no time, either and came rushing down to the squared circle. Peverell started furiously and hit some hard punches in the early moments of the match. O’Farraday was sent out of the ring with a clothesline, but the big heavyweight landed on his feet. Findlay was dazed and took some time to recover, while his counterpart played to the crowd for a bit before leaving the ring as well.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Bradford was looking to continue the offense, but hadn’t recognized that his opponent had taken a toaster, which was thrown to the ringside area by one of the fans. Peverell got caught with the kitchen device and fell down to the floor. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The big man was now in control of the fight and continued his attack as he kicked and punched Peverell. More weapons came into play as well and after a strike with a frying pan, the first “holy shit” chants could be heard. Findlay remained in control, not least because of several underhanded tactics like kicking to Peverell’s groin or gouging his eye. Especially when Peverell was on the verge of turning things around, O’Farraday used his cheap tricks to keep control. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Both wrestlers developed a good brawl in and out of the ring and the match never lacked the usage of weapons. Interestingly, it was only O’Farraday who made use of foreign objects as Peverell refused to make use of them. Instead, he used his pure power, which made the fans cheer for him while his opponent had already made a lot of enemies amongst the fans in the Weston Gym thanks to his cheap tactics. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The match came to an end when Bradford Peverell used some boxing combinations to set up for his dream left hook. Findlay O’Farraday avoided it, though, and countered with his Atomic Spinebuster onto a folded-up drying rack. Following this, the big heavyweight had no problem pinning Peverell for the three count. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Winner: Findlay O’Farraday</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Match length: 14:48 minutes</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Rating: 54</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>A great opener. Not a technically sound match, but that’s what you get in a hardcore promotion. Both guys did a good job of engaging the fans, especially Bradford is known for that. It was mentioned in the report that Peverell refused to apply any foreign objects. This was definitely on purpose, the fans will certainly get to know about this at the upcoming events.</em></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></div><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/HughdeAske2.jpg</span><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/vs2.jpg</span><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/JoffyLaine.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Hugh de Aske vs. Joffy Laine</span></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">The second match really fell apart after the previous one, it was an extremely poor one, even though Hugh de Aske played his Belgian pirate gimmick very well. He came to the ring with his typical eyepatch and had a grappling hook on a rope wrapped around his shoulder. Joffy Laine on the other hand, played the fun-loving guy running around the ring and high-fiving with the fans. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Joffy was a bit naive going into the match. During his entrance, he was handed a rock band guitar by one of the fans in the front row. Laine hung it around his neck and pretended to play it. De Aske was smart enough to take advantage of the situation and while his opponent was busy psyching up the fans, the “Dread Pirate” attacked him from behind, even before the bell had been rung. This caused some immediate heat from the crowd. Hugh grabbed the neck of the guitar that was still around Joffy’s neck and pulled him around ringside. Laine got whipped into the barrier and into the ring steps several times before the Belgian pirate smashed the instrument on Joffy Laine’s head.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This match was very one-sided; Hugh de Aske was in major control of this eight-minute bout. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

He used the rope of his grappling hook to choke Laine and busted Joffy’s forehead open with the actual hook.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

At the 8 minute mark, Hugh scored the win after his trademark Cut-Throat Driver and the pin.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Winner: Hugh de Aske</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Match length: 7:45 minutes</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Rating: 32</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>I knew this match wouldn’t be a show-stealer, but you need to have matches on the card that allow the crowd to recover, right? Hugh’s gimmick is really great. It fits him really well and catches on with the fans. He might get a push along the way, but he needs to put on better matches first. </em></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/AshCampbell.jpg</span><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/NelsonCallum.jpg</span><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/vs2.jpg</span><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/CameronVessey.jpg</span><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/FranticAli.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The Philly Blondes (Ash Campbell and Nelson Callum) vs. Cameron Vessey and Frantic Ali</span></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Without further ado, the show went on with the next match, this time a tag team match. Actually, the term ‘tag team’ was a bit out of place here as there weren’t any actual tags. All four guys were in the ring at the same time. They used to call it tornado tag team matches, didn’t they? </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The current two-time PSW Tag Team Champions, The Philly Blondes, played the typical cocky guys, completely full of themselves. Their opponents were two guys I’ve never seen teaming up before: The blue chipper and second-generation superstar Cameron Vessey and the grappler from the West Coast Frantic Ali. Unfortunately, these two guys had pretty poor chemistry teaming together. Ali came to the ring dancing to some generic house music and even did some dance interludes during the match, which was quite comical, especially as Vessey had to remind his partner time and again that they were actually fighting a match.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Due to Ali’s constant dancing antics, the face team were easy prey for the Philly Blondes. They took a mat trolley that was standing around in the Weston Gymnasium and pushed it into Ali when he was once again distracted. The not-so-frantic Californian flew over the cart backwards and was hurt badly. As a result, the Philly Blondes gained more and more control of the match. Callum wrenched an I-Pad from a fan who seemed to be more interested in the things going on on his electronic device, and used it as a weapon against Cameron Vessey. It was certainly not a nice thing to do, but seriously: playing around with your I-Pad while there’s a wrestling show going on? Come on! The crowd started an ‘Apple sucks’ chant. Steve Jobs would certainly have turned over in his grave.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Campbell and Callum both badgered Cameron Vessey while Frantic Ali was still out due to the Philly Blondes’ earlier attack. When he had finally recovered, he couldn’t help dancing before eventually realizing that his partner was in need for some help. A fan gave him an old Easy Bake oven and Ali took both Ash Campbell and Nelson Callum out. Additionally, Ali squashed Ash’s fingers in the oven door. Sponsored by Hasbro?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cameron and Ali were able to regain control, but only for a short time. When Vessey had Campbell up on his shoulder for a powerbomb, Ali was supposed to aid his companion, but once again began to dance. Ash Campbell took advantage of the situation, shifted weight and landed on Vessey sitting on his chest for a two-count. In the meantime, Nelson Callum, who had been lying outside after a suplex on an ironing board, had bounced back and re-joined the action in the ring. He attacked the disctracted Ali while Campbell continued to deal with Vessey. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Eventually, the cocky blondes from Philadelphia finished off their opponents. While Callum kept Vessey in check, Ash Campbell pinned Ali after a Shooting Star Press for the third heel win in the third match of the night.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

A good match, which could have been even better had it not been for the bad chemistry between Cameron Vessey and Frantic Ali. Speaking of Ali, it’s strange to see him play a kind of comedy character, when you’re used to seeing him play the bad ass guy at Invincible Pro down in California.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Winners: The Philly Blondes</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Match length: 15:09 minutes</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Rating: 42</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>I booked this match mainly to check the chemistry of Vessey and Ali. Given that there was none, it was still a pretty good match, mostly carried by Ash and Nelson. The Philly Blondes are the only team in the PWC at the moment and I’ll continue to put them against more or less random teams to eventually build a tag team division. Ali over-played his gimmick a little bit for my taste, but he hasn’t done a horrible job.</em></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/HandsomeStranger.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Next up, Handsome Stranger came down to the ring and grabbed a microphone. He asked for somebody to interview him as he was told that an interview was scheduled, but apparently there wasn’t anybody to ask questions. He claimed that it was disrespectful to leave him in a lurch like they did here. A man like him, the franchise player of the PWC, deserves better, he explained. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

On the other hand, he said, being so good on the mic, he’d be able to ask the questions for himself. What followed was literally an interview with himself. He asked about a preview for his match later on tonight and replied that he would come out as the winner and first ever PWC Champion. He went on saying that Jack Griffith is actually not a bad guy, but still inferior to him, just like Malili Umaga, the dim-witted Samoan, as he called him. Neither of the two would stand a chance against him, the face of the company. He asked what would make him the face of the company and he simply answered “Just look at me! To you yankees, I might be a stranger but I’m that damn handsome!” </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

A great promo, Handsome Stranger certainly entertained the fans and made them dislike him through his arrogant and self-important behaviour.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Rating: 49</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>Even though we want to concentrate on the in-ring action, there are some guys on the roster who can cut good promos and I’d be a fool not to exploit their skills. Handsome Stranger is definitely one of them as he showed here. He did a great job of promoting tonight’s main event and making enemies among the fans.</em></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></div><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/FrankiePerez_alt1.jpg</span><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/vs2.jpg</span><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/RemmySkye.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Kill Switch vs. Remmy Skye</span></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After that entertaining promo, it was time for what was announced as the co-main event of the night. Frankie Perez, who seems to be working his gothic gimmick in the PWC under the name of Kill Switch, went up against “Psyche Out” Remmy Skye. The King Of The Ladder Match (why wasn’t Skye in the main event, by the way?) showcased the flashy, daredevil moves he’s known for while Switch concentrated on stiff blows and strikes that are clearly puroresu-influenced and fit his heel disposition very well. Due to both of these guys’ great wrestling abilities they kept weapons out of the match in the early going. This changed after Remmy missed a top rope manoeuver to the outside where he landed in the front row. Kill Switch took advantage of the situation and lashed his opponent with a steel chain a couple of times. Remmy’s back had turned red thanks to the hard blows. ´</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Switch was now in control of the match. He continued his tough striking game and his vicious attacks. A hit with a kendo stick right onto the forehead of Remmy Skye resulted in a loud ‘Ooooh’ from the crowd. The face-painted goth recognized a sign that said ‘Kill Switch sucks’, took it away from its rightful owner and threw it back over his head so that it landed in the ring. Sure enough, the fans disagreed. Remmy Skye used this distraction to his favor and as soon as his counterpart had turned back to him, Skye took him down with a spear tackle. He then rolled Kill Switch back inside the ring and quickly followed. Skye picked up the ‘Kill Switch sucks’ sign, which was actually a wrapped-up road sign and hammered it onto Switch’s back. If there’s a report on Monday about a car accident following a wrong-way driver in a one-way street, chances are that it happened due to a missing road sign that was used tonight.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Remmy was now in full control and presented some impressing aerial manoeuvers. A 450° splash only made for a two-count just like a split-legged moonsault. With the last ounce of strength, Kill Switch tried to turn the tide in his favour by trying to push a curtain pole into Skye’s mid-section, but he took it off Switch and floored him with the pole in turn. Remmy Skye now realized the opportunity to end the match and quickly climbed the turnbuckle. Fans of Remmy’s knew what was coming: The Senton Bomb, better known as the Skye Diver, hit his opponent hard so that he wasn’t able to resist the pinfall. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

So far, this one was the best match of the night, but the highlight was yet to come.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Winner: Remmy Skye</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Handsome Stranger vs. Jack Griffith vs. Malili Umaga</span></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Now it was time for the main event of the evening: A ladder match to crown the first ever PWC Champion. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The title belt was hung up over the ring and the ladder was already placed at ringside. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After his promo from earlier on, the SWF alumni Handsome Stranger was booed heavily by the audience and was welcomed with a ‘Super Starfish’ chant, a reference to Stranger’s former comedy gimmick in the SWF. His entrance was followed by the appearance of “Southern Justice” Jack Griffith, making his return after having disappeared for six years due to his alcohol problems. With Malili Umaga, we had the second former SWF wrestler in the match and it really showed in their performance. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

In the beginning, Griffith and Stranger worked together trying to take out the Samoan. When he had been tossed out of the ring, Griffith wanted to follow, but Stranger attacked him from behind and dominated the former DAVE worker until Umaga had recovered. He got himself a traditional Samoan war club from under ring, returned to the squared circle and cleaned house with the advantage of having a weapon. Handsome Stranger and Jack Griffith escaped to ringside, but were attacked immediately by Malili, who took both of them down with a top rope plancha to the outside, which was the first high-risk manoeuver of the match. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The three guys brawled through the whole arena using weapons when needed or when handed to them by the fans. Someone threw a handicap sign in the wrestlers’ direction and Handsome Stranger was the one to use it. He hit the sign over Griffith’s head with whom he had stopped cooperating in the meantime. All three wrestlers were on their own now. Back at ringside, the ladder was brought into play for the first time. Griffith and Umaga were going at each other, when Handsome Stranger picked it up and send both of them to the floor. Trying to take advantage of this, he put up the ladder inside the ring and climbed up the steps. Stranger was almost on top when Malili Umaga came back into the ring and shook the ladder sending the Mexican back to the canvas. The Samoan climbed up the ladder for himself, but the returning Jack Griffith made sure that Umaga couldn’t get the belt. He stepped up, grabbed his the Samoan’s waist and suplexed him to the ground. Needless to say, the crowd loved these high-risk manoeuvers. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

All three guys were now down on the floor with neither of the three moving for a couple of seconds. Jack Griffith was the first one to stand back up and went after Umaga. Southern Justice whipped the Samoan into the ladder which collapsed upon impact. Malili lay on the ladder while Griffith climbed to the second rope and jumped onto the Samoan with a foot stomp to his chest. Jack Griffith now picked up Umaga, whipped him into the ropes and bent over for a back drop, but the former Samoan Wildboy countered with a double knee to the face and a belly-to-belly suplex right onto the ladder. The crowd went nuts. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Meanwhile, Handsome Stranger had recovered from the bump off the ladder and watched the action from a safe distance. As long as the ladder wasn’t set up, nobody would be able to steal the victory, so why would he get involved?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Umaga had Griffith under control and after a Release Fisherman Suplex, which he calls the Samoan Suplex, he set up the ladder, but before he was able to climb it, Handsome Stranger returned to the action and floored Umaga with a stiff blow with an electric iron. The Mexican climbed the ladder, turned around halfway and hit his ‘La Gota’, a diving headbutt, on Malili Umaga. Jack Griffith was now back on his feet, but Handsome knocked him out, too – this time with the Catalan Twist (Swinging Backbreaker). With both of his opponents down and out, Handsome Stranger had no problem climbing the ladder and grabbing the belt to become the inaugural PWC Champion.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The main event was the icing on the cake on what was a great event all around. For a small company like the PWC, it was an awesome debut. Hopefully, we’ll see more of them in the future.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Winner and new PWC Champion: Handsome Stranger</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Match length: 24:53 minutes </strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Rating: 57</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>This last match was the highlight of the night, although the opener and the semi-main event came close. Jack Griffith seemed a bit off his game, his past life as an alcoholic certainly left his marks, not to mention he has just returned to wrestling very recently. Bradford Peverell, the road agent for this match, told me that Jack wasn’t happy not winning the title here, but there was no way I would give the belt to him. A) His alcohol problems might become an issue, even though he claims to have left his past behind. And B) Handsome Stranger is clearly our “franchise player”. He can wrestle, he’s a good talker and he’s over with the fans, which makes him the perfect champion for us.</em></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Final Rating: 55</span></strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>What a great night was this?! Not only did we get an audience of 300 fans right of the cuff, but also did we deliver an awesome show, which was really well received by the crowd; we’ve certainly created a fanbase tonight. </em></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>

Before the workers were going their seperate ways, I took the three main event participants and praised them for a great performance. The three seemed pleased, but I wasn’t able to raise Jack’s mood, he was still irritated at not winning his match. I think I have to live with that.</em></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Johannes_04/PWC-1.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><p> </p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Prediction results:</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

1) Mike7429: 4 / 5</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Sunday, Week 4, May 2013

The feedback on Phoenix Rising was awesome. ‘The PWC have outshone some of the bigger companies’ recent efforts’, tew.com wrote. Social media was full of praise, as well. Seems like we gained popularity last night.

Clark called me this morning. Unfortunately, he didn’t have any praise for me; instead he gave me a couple of new goals, but nothing that would cause any difficulties for me. He told me that the PWC must not have decreased in size within the next two years. He also doesn’t want me to hire any MMA crossover – at least for the next year. Some reasonable objectives – nobody wants his business to shrink, not even if it’s a small business like the Phoenix Wrestling Company.

And as far as MMA guys, I agree with Pee-Wee that they don’t fit into our product at all.

Monday, Week 1, June 2013

Financially, we made a loss of about 18,000 $ in May. But this was mainly due to signing bonuses Steve Flash had granted our workers. Discounting these, we are at about break even this month, which means there aren’t many options for me at least for now. I’m not able to bring in more wrestlers, except maybe a couple of low-level jobbers. Actually, given how great our first event went, I don’t really need to worry about our roster for quite some time. I’d really like to bring in some good-looking ladies to give our mostly male audience something nice to look at, but I can’t afford them at the moment.

I published the announcement for our next event: PWC Fountain of Youth will be held on Saturday of Week 4, June 2013 in Weston Gymnasium, Weston NJ – same time, same place. More details will follow soon.

Frankie Perez told me that he got an offer from Pride Glory Honor Wrestling over in Japan, the second biggest company in the Land of the Rising Sun. He’s seriously considering going on tour with them. I wouldn’t really mind. I think an involvement with PGHW wouldn’t result in too much of a conflict with us. Let alone that I won’t be able to prevent him from doing it. I also think that someone with his abilities deserves to move on to bigger promotions.

Wrestling gossip created a certain regional battle between NYCW, PSW and us and claimed that Pittsburgh came out on top last month, with our company being the runner up and New York City finishing last. Since we’re in a working agreement with both PSW and NYCW, there isn’t really much of a battle between each other, regardless of what the media write.</div>

Thanks for the predictions so far. The show will be up by the end of the weekend, hopefully on Saturday.

Sunday, Week 3, June 2013

Today, social networks were running wild as a rumour was going around that the men behind New York City Wrestling are allegedly part of a sinister cult worshipping an ancient goat-God. This sounded so ridiculous, it just had to be a hoax.

I talked to Larry Vessey about it and he considers this story to be made up by Brother Grimm, a famous west coast rapper who has his own local hardcore wrestling promotion in California. I’m not into rap at all, but I’m certainly familiar with the name Brother Grimm and I’ve heard that he’s active in the wrestling industry, as well.

Apparently, Grimm has declared war on New York City Wrestling and is spreading these rumours to discredit the promotion. I don’t get why this small-time, close-to-backyard company out of the South West would want to compete with another small company on the other side of the country. The old east coast-west coast war, I suppose? In any case, I’m glad Grimm hasn’t declared war on the PWC, yet – I don’t need this crap.

There’s also some news about the offer Pride Glory Honor Wrestling made to Frankie (Kill Switch). Unsurprisingly, he did in fact complete the contract with the Japanese promotion, which means he’ll be on tour with them for the next three months. He said he’s willing to come over to the U.S. in between shows in case I need him here, so that he’ll be able to work for us unless our event runs on the same day as PGHW’s.

Preparations for Fountain Of Youth are running smoothly, no incidents that would ruin my plans. Hopefully, we’re able to live up to last month’s success.
